    Megumi Hayashibara has got to be one the best anime singers out there... her voice is just flawless.... not to mention all those anime roles she did

    @Battybribri Keep in mind that the Engilsh version is the original version. Megumi's version is an adaptation.

    I never heard this version before today...I love both the English and the Japanese versions (then again, I love almost all of Megumi Hayashibara's songs xD) thank you for posting, this is beautiful!

    I enjoy the original version as well as Hayashibara's version of this song. Both have their own uniqueness.

    I prefer the original (don't hate me) but this version is good too, it sounds more raw and emotional. The original sounds like the lady is just phoning it in, but Hayashibara-san really seems to feel the words and sing them from her heart. ❤❤

    @JimHawkwind03411 Don't forget that she has already done this kind of adaptation and second it is Japanese. So maybe, they first think about a Japanese version but, because they want to sell everywhere in the world, they chose the English version.
    Megumi has already sung Japanese version of English original songs of anime.
    For example, the last ending song of slayers try is "somewhere" and was sung in 1997. A few years after, Megumi sang "kono sekai no dokoka de" what roughly means the same.

    This is the rare occasion that I have to prefer the dubbed version over the original. The English singer brought an entirely different feel to the song that I think worked better. But that could be nostagia and bias too.

    Here's the description:
    "The video is taken from a cleaner copy of the "Alchemy of Love" video from RUclips that featured the original English version, and placed the Achika ver. over it."
    I have the Achika single.

    I always wondered which was the true original version of the song. I wonder why the movie makers wanted an English song?

    Why do I cry when Achika smiles?

    I would so have this song as my wedding song.

    Where did some of the images of Achika Masaki came from? I don't recall seeing them in the movie.

      From what I know, it's seen on the Japanese Laserdisc version of Tenchi Muyo in Love, likely the Special Edition.

    @Battybribri Actually, Nina Hagne sings that song beautifully, and if you doubt me, find and listen to her song "New York, New York." In THAT song, she sounds dreadful, and I remember being surprised when I learned that was her in the original version of this song.

    Just dug out my CD single of this song. And now, after moving it to iTunes, I can finally throw out these ridiculous tiny CDs that I can't play in anything other than my external DVD player.

    Christopher franke is a genius, and yes the japanese version is 1000 times better than the speudo english one cus the english one is sung by a old woman that never where able to sing. Nina Hagen! Just google her and prepare for ear bleeding >:-)

    @Annachu You like the Japanese version more. That doesn't make it "better." They're both good, just leave it at that.

    Which album is this on?

    • @JimHawkwind03411
      @JimHawkwind03411  10 лет назад +1

      It's only available on the "Alchemy of Love" single (PIDA-1033).
      There are two versions of the single, with the original one being performed by Hagen and Jude.

      JimHawkwind03411 Even if you search for her discography, you still end up scouring around for individual songs and singles and there are shitloads of remixes to collect. Scrounging up all of her music is tough.
      Being a fan of her is exhausting and I don't even watch anime. lol

    • @JimHawkwind03411
      @JimHawkwind03411  10 лет назад +1

      dynelol I forgot to mention that it's also available on the Tenchi Muyo! Utau Dai Kessan CD box set (which I have).

      I wouldn't bother with that. I don't watch anime and am pretty much just a fan of Megumi Hayashibara and Yui Horie for their music.

  • @Annachu
    @Annachu 14 лет назад +1

    @JimHawkwind03411 The Japanese is still better.

  • @MaskedMan66

    @MoonFargis The English version is the original, and it is unfair to compare any of Nina's other work to the lovely job she did with "Alchemy of Love." In her other work she was doing vocal experiments that nobody appreciated except her and her posse and fans. Mark you, she was successful all the same.
    Also, she was only 41 when she recorded "Alchemy." And you're also forgetting Rick Jude on the male vcocals.

    I like the Japanese version alot better than the English. In the English verison the girl's voice is just dreadful.
