    For anyone doing this for the first time, here’s my advice: buy at least one extra Aero parts/“Fix-It” kits. Once that front detent goes flying you aren’t getting it back.

    Great video, clear step by step, many thanks! 2 suggestions: I managed to lose BOTH of my takeout detent pins as they went flying off to... wherever. Managed to get replacements pretty quickly and decided not to be stupid again, so got a large box, lined it with a towel, pointed the detent and spring INTO the box as I put it in. Caught the first one before I finally managed to get it in place. Also used the credit card trick one of your other viewers mentioned below.
    Other suggestion: YT is gonna nab you for "how to assemble a rifle" vids. Strongly suggest you duplicate over on that competitive channel.

    5:34 I use a 1/4" clevis pin. It looks just like a takedown pin but it has holes in it.
    You feed your spring and detent through the hole, press it in with your Allen wrench and turn it until it's locked. Set the takedown pin flush against the clevis pin and push it through.
    Super easy.

    I used a spark plug gap tool on detent, similar to the credit card tip below - used the .025 fin to hold the detent down with one hand while pushing the pin through with the other, then just slide out the gap fin (receiver upside down in vise made it a lot easier though)

    At 9:42, if you have trouble pushing out the rear takedown after install, Aero Precision instructs to cut a few coils off the spring with a cable cutter. Leave it full length if you don't have a 4-40 set screw and this gets captured by the buffer lock plate

    1/4 x 2” clevis pin - about $2 at Tractor Supply. Get the one that has holes all the way down the pin. Push the clevis pin into the pivot pin hole from the left side of the lower. Align the hole in the end of the clevis pin with the pivot pin spring/detent hole. Drop your spring and detent pin through the clevis pin & into the hole in the lower. Push the detent pin in with a punch/hex key & rotate the clevis pin 90 degrees. This will hold the detent in place. Now you can perform the “switch-a-roo” maneuver as described in the video.

    Do yourself a favor on the rear takedown and trim the length of the set screw off of the spring. They give you a milspec length spring and if you don't trim it down it puts to much pressure on the detent. I believe it's about 6 coils

    Why didn't you do the trigger group big 🐕?
    Good video though. I always gotta look up a refresher cause it seems like I only go through the process every half decade lol

    I thought that to be able to use the rear take down detent spring with the little screw, that you have to clip off a little of the spring so it doesn't bottom out? Also maybe blue lock tight on it as well. Just asking before I launch mine across the room...lol

    • @1stShotTactical
      @1stShotTactical  Год назад +1

      😂😂 fair point! And yes you can clip the spring in the rear detent to help install and Aero actually recommends it🙌🙌

  • @Gunfighter5

    Aero shows to cut off some of that spring for the rear takedown pin.

      Yes definitely recommend if it’s too tight!! Thanks for the comment!🙏

    hello, I need the dimensions of ar-15 fire control group springs, their lengths and diameters can be like technical drawing or 3 d. If you can help me, I would really appreciate it.

    I just bought a general lower parts kit because the gun store didn't have an aero precision lower kit? should I buy a lower parts kit strictly for aero precision. I noticed i do not have any set screws for the rear takedown pin

    • @1stShotTactical
      @1stShotTactical  Год назад

      You can install any lower parts kit! Using the aero precision lower parts kit does make it easier to do the bolt release and rear take down pin bc they have threaded pieces👍

    Will a NON-Aero Precision parts kit work in an Aero lower? Just bought an Aero at my local Sportsmans Warehouse, and have a Del-Ton kit. I didn't know about the threaded holes, and they never said a thing either.

    I’m thinking about getting the strike industries lower kit installed on my M4E. I noticed @9:10 you said there’s a exclusive part from AP. Would I not be able to use the Strike industries lower kit on this? Do I have to only use AP lower kit?

    • @1stShotTactical
      @1stShotTactical  Год назад +2

      Thank for the comment, happy to help! Yes you can use the Strike Industries Lower parts kit! When you install the Rear Take down pin, you will have to install the buffer tube and nut in order to capture the rear dent and spring. But yes it’ll work👍

    So I bought an Aero M4E1 lower and was planning on buying a PSA build kit to finish it but after seeing the option for threaded screws I'm torn between buying the Aero parts kit but it doesn't come with a stock and buffer assembly which means I'd have to buy them separately which is gonna make my build more expensive. Should I just buy the PSA kit with the upper and just buy the screws separately and have some extra parts from PSA?
    Also does that screw by the bolt catch come already installed on the reciever or did that come with the parts kit and you installed it before the vid?

    • @1stShotTactical
      @1stShotTactical  10 месяцев назад

      Either way would work! And yes the bolt catch screw comes on the Aero lower, so you don’t need to buy that separately!🙌

    Question: I bought the stripped lower from aero precision. Will it come with the two threaded parts? Or would thag come with a lower set from them?

    • @1stShotTactical
      @1stShotTactical  Год назад

      It will come with the threaded bolt catch release on the receiver. But the rear take down piece is in the Aero Lower Parts kit🤘

    Buy a good name brand kit .I bought a no name kit and it was serviceable but had a crappy trigger and the roll pins went in hard.
    I got a CMMG kit and nice pins and real nice trigger.Quality is worth the extra 6-8 dollars.
