Gotta take time to say this. You are the very best at one thing on this channel. You are sincere and you actually enjoy helping people. No one else on the net does what you do the way you do it. I can tell it comes from your heart. The time it takes for you to help others, with all the links you create and all the intricate details you project on this channel is truly amazing. I appreciate you. Easily one of the top three or four guys on the net. thanks for all the help you give, and I know you started with very little and you have never lost sight of how that was. This is a great channel for guys that have very little money to get to their goals, with your help and encouragement, they have no excuse to quit or give up. Thanks
This is exactly what I been looking for the kit. Appreciate the videos man you do a awesome job in every video I have seen . Just wanted to say THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP.
I reloaded in my living room for several years...only TV was in the living room...lol My components and tools were on an overhead projector stand. Press was/is mounted to an old desk.
All is well now, funny I found out she likes the smell of many cleaning fluids but the workbench from U-line just made the garage a good place to work. Now I just need a smart flat screen HA!
Tip from a Home Depot employee: I've had many of those work benches come off the truck over the years and most of them had issues with the legs popping out of the storage clips on the back when banged around, sometimes snapping off the clips. Fortunately HD takes anything back
I was literally just thinking about how to make a portable build station or small workbench in our little townhouse, and then this pops up in my feed. Great timing!
For future reference to anyone who is using this table. I rarely use this for anything besides working on my AR. That center plate can be removed so you can easily just attach your vise to plywood without needing to hollow out the underside. It will drop right down through the center.
Can I make a suggestion on mounting your vise to the plywood? Use threaded T-nuts. You simply drill a straight hole through then hammer in the T-nut from below and buy regular hex bolts and washers and screw it down from the top. As you tighten down the bolts hard it will pull the T-nuts flush to the underside of your plywood. You just need to purchase the correct length hex bolts so they don’t protrude from the bottom of the board but that’s easy to find and you can use washers to fine tune the length. Way cleaner than your method with the wing nuts and super easy to take the vise on and off if needed even with the board mounted to the bench.
I bought this kit about 8 months ago. It has really saved me on multiple occasions. This review you gave was the main reason I purchased this. I had seen it before but was considering just doing a piecemeal kit buying tools as needed. After this review I researched some more and decided it would be the thing to buy. Since then, I have not once regretted it (Crazy, one tool I found that I hadn't realized was in the kit...you know, instructions...why read them) REALLY saved me a lot of time and frustration.
I wish I knew about the kit sooner, but I have now purchased all the parts to build the work station cause I also have no space in garage, would do everything I could at dinner table and use a buddies vise. Now I have the work station that tucks away in the garage. Now I can do everything thing at home. Thank you so much for all the info.
I bought one of these Real Avid sets and have even used some of the tools to assemble a number of builds. I recommend learning which tools you need and compiling them a la carte from high quality manufacturers. Many of the plastic Real Avid tools have already broken in only a few builds. Also, literally the first operation shown in the instruction manual highly recommends using go/no go headspace gauges. These gauges are NOT included in this set, but again, were central to the very first instruction shown. Save money and buy high quality US-made tools based on what you actually need to complete your build.
I have that same work bench. I was trying to figure out how to mount my reloader to it without drilling holes in it. I didn't know those clamps were there. Thanks for the tip.
Can’t wait to see what u have because the last two I built were on the bathroom floor with all the drains closed and the toilet seat down so I didn’t lose and springs or detents
Congrats on your baby! That seems like a really good kit, especially with how much you get for the money. My only recommendation would be this: Try to spend $100 to get the Midwest Industries URR (Universal receiver rod) it actually has a sail that goes where the gas key would go. It's a much better solution to ensure you don't break the barrel index pin or wallow out the receiver thread. You can also use it to make sure you have your barrel lined up properly with the upper receiver
That definitely looks like a suoerior rod, however, it appears that this one has a locking device/pin that serves the same function. And although aluminum won’t last as long as steel, you also don’t risk scratching or chipping the barrel with aluminum. But I’m a newbie so…
@@jnananinja7436I could understand where you're coming from. It'll get the job, but using aluminum for this application has some inherent issues. You'll appreciate the URR if you ever get your hands on it for the reasons mentioned above. Less chance of breaking your rifle and less chance of breaking your tool
I have the Real Avid AR 15 Armorer's kit - It's "ok." Nothing special and some of the tools are cheap and cheesy but all in all, it's not bad. You can put together the same set tools for cheaper, with better components but this one will get you by. Some of the tools are GREAT, some are of the tools are pretty meh and it's really nice having it all in one case. Bottom line: Is it worth it? Yeah.
would you please do us all a big favor and post a list here of your suggested higher quality components for a full function armorer kit I'm sure it would be a hit. THANKYOU !!!
I have this kit and I agree that some of the tools, like the plastic picks, are really soft and not useful. But, on the whole, being able to take it anywhere quickly, is awesome. And some of the tools save so much time and aggravation!
First off congrats on the baby. Very happy for you. Second off thank you so much. I've been on the edge about buying that kit and I'm putting one in my cart right now. That cleaning tool is also getting bought soon as well.
From someone whose about to start building their AR I’m super happy with the fact your links are great it’s not hard . This is an AMAZING first setup and it’s gonna be cheaper then anything else I put time into and I’ll be able to take it places . I really appreciate videos like this. I’m gonna keep looking into other videos and try to find more links to parts and stuff !!
I stumbled across your video, which I am extremely grateful for. I have had this kit now for about a month and learned things about it I didn't know. Thank you so much for the information. I also agree about the plastic picks, although mine have proven to be durable, so far.
After building my AR a couple years ago. My conclusion is you only need 2 specialty tools. Something for the barrel nut and buffer castle but. And a tool that fits into the barrel action to torque the barrel nut.
Watch that torque wrench carefully or check it regularly for calibration but there are better ones. I bought myself a torque screwdriver and love it. Like you I’d tighten things down and call it good ,no more. Love your setup
This kit paid for itself immediately with the hammer and torque bar alone. Punches are decent. I also bought a hand torque driver for scope screws etc... I think I’m 90% there!
At first, I was gonna ask if that's really what it is lmao. I would feel a little better showing off my portable "router" table than my baby changing station. I really wouldn't have much of a reason to have a Huggies baby changing table in my gun room lol
I bought this kit when I first saw this video. Wow is it worth it! Mind you I'm learning and I have way more to learn, the real avid kit is great! My brother in law and I have now built 4 AR's, one being a big bore set up. Tactical Toolbox, great content! Keep it up man! Now I'm building my own portable work bench. Wife took over the shed. 🤦🏻♂️
Carrying it when you travel is also a real time saver. On the board, you could also carry a reloading set. So many ways to save cost and increasing versatility. Breaking something out in "the middle of nowhere" can ruin your day.
Not to sound mean but you should really take a course in Gunsmithing if you are gonna do videos like this, A lot of your techniques are totally wrong and misleading, Also when you mount a vise, the bolt heads are supposed to be facing up on the vice then use some large fender washers to crank it down and give the vise stability or even put some pieces of the steel connecting the two front and two back bolts so it distributes the force of the vice evenly given your using a plastic bench

Awesome video, thank you! I bought one of the Real Avid tool kits recently and am super happy with it. Didn't even realize the "full" capability of the set until watching this video, so now have gone from happy to ecstatic =) Now I need to get a table and mirror your setup. Very nice setup. Thanks again!
Honestly, 200-250 for that is not bad. I’ve been purchasing tools here and there and they’re all kinda just everywhere that I’ve just been purchasing even if not needing them at the moment (just found deals). The other day I was working with my gas system, which I had purchased the reseeded punches that would hold the pin, and completely forgot I had it, until I was working on a lower a couple hours after the fact, after struggling to get the dang pin in the gas tube lol. Then realized I did have the punch I needed that would have helped get it started… so I still have yet to use it and will probably forget about it again the next time I do, so something like that is definitely a good investment in my opinion, even if you do just plan to build one ar

Best video on having a hit to built or maintain an AR15. Love it. I am getting this kit plus the other items; hopefully for Xmas. Again, awesome vid. Thanks.😊
21:00 looks like that the brush might have to be changed out if you use it a lot.
Keter Folding Work Table is the best portable bench you can get.
Bought everything in the video including the little jar of aero gel. Wish me luck!
Bought that Real Avid kit kit for myself for Xmas. Did my 1st AR build with it. Might be the best $200 I ever spent.
Congrats!! on the Baby!!
Congrats my friend! There is NOTHING stronger than family. Especially in times like now.
Primary arms has this kit on sale for 199. I love mine & love your table idea
They make some excellent stuff...I bought their punch set and rip cords to clean barrel....I will get this next.
Those are carriage bolts that you're using to mount the vise to the wood. just so you know. Nice vid. I'll be following some links.
Congratulations to you with the baby have a great day and take care man
Husky has metal picks. Whole set is either 5 or 10 bucks, super nice and they're amazing for AK work.

How's this kit holding up so far? I'm looking into buying one myself but other reviews say the plastic stuff are junk!
