    Great video. Will definitely help people understand how to put these together. The hammer spring looked to be incorrect though. The legs of the spring when pointing down should be on the flat side of the hammer and the hoop part of the spring should be resting against the hooked side of the hammer.

    Next time, if you want to prevent scraping and scratching up the lower while installing the bolt catch roll pin, cover the area to the rear of it with painter's tape. In addition, I use a round toothpick with the sharp tip cut off as a "slave pin" to hold the bolt catch in place as I drive in the roll pin . . . which drives the toothpick out the other side as the roll pin displaces it. Eliminates the need for three hands.

    I missed seeing exactly how you got that roll pin in on that bolt catch there🤔 I usually get the pin started first using my roll pin starter punch, drop in my bolt catch assembly then finish driving the pin on with a flat punch. Investing in the proper tools goes a long way when assembling anything.

  • @rossneal925
    @rossneal925 9 месяцев назад +1

    Just a couple of tips. When installing the bolt catch, put the spring in first and then the little tip. The tip should be touching the bolt catch lever, not the spring. Also, use some sort of slave pin (small punch or allen wrench) to hold the bolt catch lever while tapping in the roll pin. As you tap in the roll pin it will push out the slave pin. I always use some wide painter's tape along the side of the receiver to prevent marring while driving the roll pin in.

    Great no BS build video Sir. Bare bones with no special tools other than the armorers wrench. I am a First time builder with No experience with AR's what so ever and it only took me an hour to do this build and I couldn't be happier. FYI: I used a shish kabob skewer to push threw to hold the detents in place instead of a punch and it was a perfect fit. Thanks again 👍

    Did you have to have this sent to an ffl from PSA?

    • @scottandrews4540
      @scottandrews4540 Год назад +1

      Only the stripped lower receiver is serialized... therefore that's the only item that needs to be sent to an FFL. Parts kit itself, all upper parts, can be sent directly to your home

    • @Sparks68
      @Sparks68 Год назад +1

      The stripped lower must go through an FFL and it requires filling out an ATF Form 4473 plus a NICS Background Check. If you want to avoid that, get an 80% lower and mill out the trigger pocket, drill the trigger and hammer pin holes, and the selector lever hole. The 80% lower can be shipped directly to you. No ATF Form 4473 or NICS check. HOWEVER! If someone is a "Prohibited Person" who isn't allowed to own or possess a firearm (most often due to a Felony Conviction), having a stripped lower made from an 80% lower is just as illegal as possessing any other firearm and is worth 10 years in prison plus a $250k fine.

  • @gliscameria

    I dont think your buffer detent is right, you need another turn, it's not locking the rotation of the tube eh?

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra Год назад +2

      It doesn't need to lock it. The buffer tube is held in place by the castle nut to lock it. It you screw it in too far to the buffer detent pin it won't move freely. The buffer tube simply retains it from coming out.

    • @gliscameria
      @gliscameria Год назад +1

      @@scottnra Then what's the purpose of that pin if it's not to lock the orientation of the tube? What is it there for?

    • @kyussdemon1
      @kyussdemon1 Год назад +2

      @@gliscameria
      It's for the buffer spring. Not the tube. The detent pin keeps the spring in the tube.

    • @gliscameria
      @gliscameria Год назад +1

      @@kyussdemon1 I can get that, but why machine the notch in the tube? One more turn and it puts that pin right in that notch

    • @kyussdemon1
      @kyussdemon1 Год назад +2

      @gliscameria

    Why does this video exist? Learn how to build a lower first, then build some lowers, then post a video "teaching" others to build lowers. Then you can actually show people how you build the lower, instead of constant errors and editing over the important parts.
