@@CreativeTechLab Quick question, where I was messing up was the step of selecting the camera lut from the file info. I have watched a ton of videos on color grading slog3 and not a single video I watched even mentioned this in final cut pro. Is this step required or can you just grade the footage without performing that conversion step in final cut pro? Thanks so much
It's not required. You can always just grade it manually. The conversion LUT just converts the footage the way Sony think S-log should work. But you're not tied to that at all. There are other conversion LUTs that will give a different look. And sometimes depending on how the footage was shot the conversion LUT may not give you the results you want. In the end it's all creative, so do the process that gets the results you're looking for.
Bro, I ran across your page a while ago, and you always give great information but me trying to think I know it all I didn’t exactly listen. I went back and follow the steps were for word and it definitely increase my production and look. I appreciate you Sharon. I will share a sample soon. Great work thanks
Amazing! just found your Channel and it helped me with a couple of topics you explained very well. Keep posting Quality Content my man! Greetings From Guatemala!
Hello! Thanks for the video. I am always getting confused whether we need to apply a conversion lut to a slog footage in a rec709 timeline. Doesn’t the conversion happen automatically when we drag and drop the footage into a rec 709 timeline?
Hi. It depends on if you shoot in LOG or if you shoot in a profile that's already rec 709. If it's LOG then it will look very flat and washed out and it's best to apply a conversion LUT of some sorts. I should also mention that you can also add contrast and saturation to LOG footage manually. But that's not always a common practice
At the bottom of that section there's a dropdown menu. Yours is probabaly set to 'basic'. Change it to 'settings' or 'general' and you'll get the LUT option.
Hey bro, can you advise on what camera exposure settings and colour profile you are using to shoot the video please? Im getting started into this youtube game but all i have is a samsung s21 (with studio lights) so in terms of the LUT profile, please can you advise on the best profile to use? Really appreciate it bro :) Peace Jamaal
Congrats on getting starting your channel. The most important thing is getting started and staying consistent. So you're already halfway where you need to be! As far as settings, I don't have any experience with Samsung phones, so I can't give specifics to the phone. However you can watch the latest video I have on my RUclips setup here: ruclips.net/video/thTXtuTAv1o/видео.html It will give some direction in terms of lighting, exposure, settings etc. Good luck!

Hello, I am learning thanks to you and I want to buy a new machine, but it is very expensive, I ask you, can you recommend me a price-performance machine, if possible, the cheapest one, the most high-performance one, please?
NEVER DO STEP 1! you are baking into the clip the log correction and you'll be losing dynamic range from your clip. better to add the correction LUT via the custom LUT effect in the effects panel. then put that below all other color corrections
Why would the result be any different if the LUT is applied via the effects panel? Why would you place the LUT below the other corrections if you need to convert the footage to rec 709 first?
@@CreativeTechLab hard to explain in detail as english isn't my first language. but like I said you are baking the correction into the clip if you use the inspector panel method. such a waste of your camera's dynamic range that way. check out Dylan John Dickerson's video entitled "This one TRICK will help your LUTs LOOK BETTER!" on the other hand, if you shot your clip perfectly or at least very close to perfect, and you're in a rush, I guess the inspector panel method should suffice.
