I have a J Godoy Madrid - very similar to the NCX5 (a cutaway with pickup but in all other respects traditional even the same tuning machines as the Yamaha). A cutaway that is not a hybrid would be my choice and I would go for the NCX5!
Did you have to adjust the saddle for string height to get your guitars to play that well? I recently purchased an Ibanez "Hybrid/Crossover guitar and the string height going back towards the 9-11 frets is so high it's very hard to play.
Hi! What kind of strings are you guys using? I've bought an NTX5 myself (much because of your review, which is great) but I feel it sounds much too dull. I've tried Savarez Alliance HT (540j) and Aquila Alabastro strings. Thanks in advance and keep on the great work 🙌🏻
As far as I know, the old NTX1200 was made in China (bad business choice!). The new NTX5 (replacement of NTX1200) is made in Japan. Moreover they have new Atmosfeel preamp compared with old ART-61 preamp (that I prefer anyway because it has onboard tuner). I don't like Atmosfeel, so I won't buy that guitar at that price
I've tried the NCX 5. Pros. It's nice to play, it sounds and looks pretty and is good electrically. Cons for me is that it sounds not great. Dead to me. I understand this guitar is for live or recording use but it's over engineered for a great sound. Sorry
It’s pretty much hard to go wrong with anything - Yamaha!

The "5" level for YAMAHA guitars indicates Made in Japan. "3" and "1" are made in China, and Indonesia.

It will happen with most non Luther instruments. But it's super easy to sand the saddle.

Daddario EJ45-3D, my favorite for the ntx5. I play these strings as well on my Takamine TH 90 Hirade. On both guitars brilliant stuff.
Sold, no BS review
Wow... Weren't these guitars like 450 around 2010? What did they do in the upgrade that marked their price up 1k?

@@Nic1963D thanks for the update. Another reason to me for not buying it 😀
@@stellac.9821 article and video note these are still partly made in China - started in China but for 5 series the finish is done in Japan afterward.
Which model? Ta
Solid or laminated? I didn't watch the video

Cordoba shines on that.
