    Best review seen so far on that guitar, even better than yamahas videos. Thank you very much! I tested a NTX3 in a shop recently and had the same impression of balanced, deep sound and versatility. About cross over guitar: the neck is larger than silver strings, so it takes a little time to get use to it (especially small hands ... :) ) but in my opinion the difficulty to play a larger neck is somehow compensated by the nylon strings (less "tension" on strings) at least that is what I felt. Thanks a lot for the video again.... can't wait now to get mine (order coming in ... a few months !!!)

    This sounds like the dream guitar! My first classical was a C40 which I've played for more than 15 years, I've never really gotten another classical simply because I have an emotional attachment to it, and frankly there's just so many choices. But now, I think it's finally time to get me a new one! I think it may be time for Ramona to stay hanging on the wall. (I name my guitars and I named that one Ramona after the Bob Dylan song.)

    Spent some time deliberating on the NTX3 and the NTX5 and was lucky enough to be able to try both extensively. I appreciate there is quite a price difference and build quality wise , I would say there isn't much in it ( 5 made in Japan ,3 made in China ) - though I did read somewhere that the 5 is made in China and finished in Japan ( Whatever that means ) .However to my ears , the European Spruce top combined with the with bone nut and saddle on the 5 has a very noticeably superior tone in the 5 compared to the Sitka Spruce and "plastic" nut and saddle in the lower models. The 3 is a good guitar however if you have the cash ,I would get the "5". It is a true quality instrument packed with resonance and ideal for electric / steel string players seeking to add a Nylon string to their stable.

    Very good demonstration of this guitar. I've played a Cordoba Fusion 14 Maple for the past 3 years and I still have difficulty with the 48 mm nut width. This is the same nut width, but at least it isn't 50 mm or 52 mm. I have 67 years of experience playing acoustic and electric steel strings, but I really enjoy the warm resonant tone of a good nylon string guitar. I've had good experience with Yamaha instruments in the past, so I'll have to check these out.

      Can't believe you have that much of experience and rarely play classical guitar which has 52mm nut width
      I can play both acoustic and classic with my small asian hand and 48mm is really a good middle ground

    I’m trying to decide btw the 3 and 5. Is there really a justification for the price difference? You’ve played both. Leave out the price. Is this one better? Which one is better gif someone who uses a pick and a lot of hammer one and pull offs? To me this sounds better with your playing than the 3 but you didn’t do as much in that demo.

    Thank you very much for your review man!
    I read that you were going to do a long term review regarding the NTX3 vs NTX5.
    I’m wondering what’s your opinion.
    I’m planning to buy one but hey US$800 is a lot of a difference between those models.
    Problem is there is no good review on the NTX3 as the one you did for the NTX5, and at the local Yamaha store don’t have any of the NX series, so I can’t even try one but only watch videos about them and from there make a decision.
    Thank you very much for your time!
    Cheers!

    What kind of strings are you using? I've bought an NTX5 myself (much because of your review, which is great) but I feel it sounds much too dull. I've tried Savarez Alliance HT (540j) and Aquila Alabastro.

    Amazing review. Love it. In the end I got the NTX3, $1000 cheaper, I don't think the NTX5 represents value for money compared to NTX3 for the sake of American spruce top? Welcome comments.

    • @amrevolver
      @amrevolver 3 года назад +5

      I will try and do a long term review but in my view the NTX3 will do me just fine as most of my gigs are jamming through an HK Polar 12 with effects and loops. I presume the wood nitty gritty will be more relevant to the pure classical player that does not use amplification...but then again this is not the guitar for them

    I just love the amazing "edgy" tunes you play with this classical guitar. I, myself, love the classical guitar, but I am not a fan of "stereotypical" dull classical tunes that almost all classical guitar players stick to. To me, those "stereotypical" tunes sound "boring". I like to step outside the norms and the boundaries that many people expect what type of tunes we're supposed to play with a classical guitar, if you know what mean. All in all, your tunes you demonstrated in this video felt like a breath of fresh air on classical guitar. Keep up the good work!

      Hi Filipe. The dimensions on the two guitars are quite different with the NCX being more of a traditional design while the NTX leans towards the hybrid field. The feel of the guitars in the hands will be more different than the sound once you start playing. You should visit a shop close to you and play on two similar models if you can to get the vibe. Enjoy!

    • @amrevolver
      @amrevolver Год назад +2

      Stefan from guitar gallery adds the microphones for ambiance. My take on recording an electric nylon is to blend the pickup with a mic to capture the natural left hand noises with the body of the guitar.

  • @syeikhalfariq3197
    @syeikhalfariq3197 3 года назад

    Hi, May i know, what amp & pickup that you used in this video?

    • @amrevolver
      @amrevolver 2 года назад

      Hi there. This is the description from Yamaha themselves. I used the Pickup on the guitar straight into the desk.
      The Yamaha NTX5 nylon-string guitar is equipped with Yamaha’s Atmosfeel pickup and preamp system. This innovative system lends a natural, three-dimensional sound to your guitar via a 3-way sensor setup. A piezo under-saddle sensor picks up sound where the strings meet the bridge, while an internal microphone captures the guitar’s internal resonance and a sheet sensor picks up vibrations from its soundboard. A Mic Blend knob enables you to blend the mic signal with the piezo. A Bass EQ knob controls a peaking EQ - the center frequency raises when boosting and lowers when attenuating. You also get a Master Volume control.

      @chris rocco Hi Chris. Thanks..hehe. I prefer the thinner ones as most of my playing is amplified so the need for more acoustic volume is not a factor. I also prefer the feel of the instrument as it is more comfortable on the right arm for long stints. The cutaway is crucial for my playing as I do a lot of lead work and I translate quite a bit of my work from the electric guitar. I studied music on a conventional classic guitar but rarely play on one except for studio applications where I feel the particular tone will sound great on a song.

    • @amrevolver
      @amrevolver 2 года назад +1

      @chris rocco The guitar I play here has a lovely acoustic sound but have a look at the NCX series for normal body thickness Yamahas with a pickup system. They are discontinued in the US but I presume a few stores will still stock them. Taylor has lovely models that will feel right at home in your hands if you are a steel string player...they will have ce-N numbers on the models. I am unfortunately not all that familiar with Cordoba as we don't get many here in RSA. Enjoy! Let me know what you get. H
