If theres one thing the chart section should tell people, is even if your class isnt at the top, you can still perform very well. Just look at how close everything is. Truly, play what you want, you'll be fine.
Some people feel comfortable with one rotation and that gives them incentive to roll that one class and spec. Some people are comfortable with any rotation and don't feel the need to limit themselves. In that situation, the logical choice, if your goal is PvE content, is to play the class that contributes to success
There is no "wrong" choice. It's a video game we play for fun. If you're playing with people who put pressure on you for picking the "wrong" class, find some new friends.
Well if your team is pushing then there kind of are wrong choices but if you are just playing as a casual then no. absolutely you can do heroic raids with any choice.

Watching this makes me glad I gave up on the hardcore endgame of WoW. When a video game drives sweaties to chew out players for overly meta things like having the audacity to dual-wield as a frost DK, things have gone out of hand. I don't want to be around people who use parse records as weapons against other players like they are evidence in a felony trial.
I'm going into TWW as a Fury warrior main with a Ret/Holy alt. Been a holy paladin since OG Wrath and I loved the feel of Titans Grip. Even if Fury is below Arms in terms of DPS, I'm sticking with Fury because I LOVE how it feels. My little gnome with severe anger issues will always be my go to. And with the changes to hpally, I feel I can enjoy healing again (skipped SL and most of DF). May take some getting used to, will probably level her healing in dungeons to get used to it.
A good player can make a "dead" spec work. People call a spec dead just because it's 4% below the avg or doesn't bring a raid buff, it's terrible mentality.
If you are looking at the meters/charts one thing most people ignore is class representation Surv hunter for example for much of SL was considered a dead garbage spec but had such a low player count compared to all the other specs that it was probably a lot better than whats shown at face value
Idk man, some braindead people might call a spec dead that easily, but by that metric every spec in the game other than the top 2-3 are "dead," that's definitely not what the community means in general. The difference is more like 15-20% from the top, which is absolutely enough to make the difference between a win or a loss. I mean, ask yourself, if you're pugging something that's not faceroll easy, do you want your group to be packed with specs doing 15% less damage/healing than the "good" ones? When failing a run of anything outside of a static means you've completely wasted potentially hours of your time, it's understandable that the community learned to hedge their bets and not take that risk...

Excellent video. This video definitely helped me on my choice. I'm trying to choose between Paladin, DK and Monk as my main. And Mage/Warlock/Hunter for my alt. My main before was a Druid, and I'm a bit disappointed in where they are now. So, I'm probably going back to my old Paladin tank, but DK and Monk looks interesting as well, especially that DK hero tee. So it's a tough choice. Thanks for the video!
My main choice has been the same and will continue to be the same as it has been since Cataclysm: Beast Mastery Hunter. Through all the ability changes, all the reworks, all the talent changes, and all the high times and low times I have been a BM Hunter. Nothing matters to me more than what resonates with me.
Im definitely trying to embrace the "dont just play one spec" of a class mentality in the war within. Plan is to play Dk. Tank with blood, dps with frost and pvp with unholy. Swaping unholy and frost if need be. And just get gear for each spec. Its way to easy to swap talents to not enbrace the ability to simply swap on demand for the content youre planning to do that day. And as far as gear, really just tanking to get my gear for blood, pvp for conquest gear for unholy, and frost will be my kinda off spec when im not the tank.
used to main a frost mage and then started playing a beast mastery hunter and actually preferred it to the mage as it fits my playstyle, rolled a ret paladin too which is amazing and the aoe damage is insane and even though I only use my mage now for mining and herbalism I'm stuck between the hunter and the paladin as both are my playstyle
"Bad" specs ALWAYS come around via balancing or rework eventually. Ranking how a spec looks "going into TWW" is exactly what flavor the month is. Yes I'm maining Balance as I have since WOTLK and I'm not worried at all.
Sorry but that is simply not true. There are some classes that is just always good. You are right in theory but statistics over the years say otherwise
I love how many comments didnt actually watch the video. Saying stuff like ”play whatever u want there are no wrong choices, i dont care about charts or numbers” Thats bellulars whole point… dont do flavour of the month top rankings, pick something u enjoy and get good at it.
Survival is finally in the state I wanted it to be in since its rework in Legion. It's got a few issues still but the core hybrid ranged/melee weaving gameplay is everything I ever wanted out of a class. I'm still not a huge fan of the bomb theme mixed in with all the nature stuff but the gameplay is just THAT good that it's not really an issue for me. I'll be going Sentinel whether it's the meta pick or not too since it just has pretty visuals.
I used play Rogue back from vanilla to WotLK... as far as I am concerned Rogues have been nerfed right around after WotLK... and have NEVER fully recovered. That's why I am kinda pissed off that I switched over to Druid (largely because of Feral spec)... only to now find that they've been put into the gutter too. I truly hope that Blizz fixes up at least one of those classes ASAP. Luckily these days I also semi-main a couple of Paladins too (and I want to try giving Evoker a fair shot too).
Paladin has been my main since legion, tried DH for dragonflight but I'm going back. Very happy with the changes. Thanks to warbands I'm gonna play fire mage on the side and go back to healer on main c:
This expansion has been one of the toughest for me to choose my two “main chars.” And I mean that in a good way because of what I see as a lot of fun, interesting changes
Outside of Havoc DH being a complete and total mess to play (opener is 18 specific inputs) and messing up slightly puts you at tank-level DPS. It's just unfun (coming from a now-former Havoc main). Other, play what you want and what you're good at.
Whats it like to raid /M+ as havoc? I've mained a rogue for years but I didn't have as much fun doing end game with that last time because of the awkward aoe and I think the spamminess is finally getting to me. Was considering havoc or maybe a mage.
@@Perid0tStar With the new hero talents? Awful to play for decent damage. It's a big clunky opener every single pack. I was a Havoc main from 7.0 to 10.3, and I'm going back to Survival (main from 1.0 to 6.2).
I tend to pick a main per xpac with any pally ready to go as fall back. this xpac, healing evoker really won me over, especially as i've been more interested in healing in general over the last few years
C’mon Bellular, you’re better than this title! It’s clearly written to make people worry, feel bad and click. We deserve more respect than that, I’d hope?
Went all Dwarves one of each armor class, and classes ive never really played before hoping the new experience will keep the game fresh. PALLY, SHAMAN, MONK, AND AN EARTHEN PRIEST. Wish me luck.
I hate playing Rogue generally but I love Outlaw rogue. I just genuinely wish there was more distinct class fantasy and design in Outlaw. Outlaw imo should really push into the Sword and Pistol gameplay and go into a mixed Melee/Ranged design focus that would feel more akin to playing a Pirate or Bloodborne character than a Rogue.
I could understand picking meta classes if you're in a serious guild that's focusing Mythic raiding. But 90% of us just play for fun and a lot of us grew up where we can't put that much time into WoW as we used to when we was younger. I did Normal and some Heroic raids on my main Frost DK while it was at it's worse and I was able to do the raids without much hiccups. Just play with what you like and have fun. :D
I basically only pvp. I play hunter. I can top the damage charts if I want to, but DMG is only a portion of gameplay. I fall to midrange in KB's intentionally, because I spend so much time ccing and debuffing etc. I play extremely supportive to my teams, as opposed to punching my way to the top of the chart. I win more than I lose in randoms and I think this may be why. Weve all lost plenty of BGs with our team topping the KB and DMG chart. If you lose but you top the chart you just literally awarded yourself an "L". Same goes for raids. No one but YOU cares if your toon can max dmg.. they care if you can support them all the way to a "W" .
I wish it could be Disc, but it's gonna be so tough getting into groups as disc. I love Hpal, but the tier set doesn't look any good on an Earthen. So that means it's a resto shammy season. Mixing the new shammy set with the Ny'alotha set makes a great fallen Tidesage vibe on a Kul'tiran model.
One thing re: 2h melee is there is usually a ton of competition for the drops, i.e. there will be a lot of dps playing paladin, warrior, and dk, not to mention dk tanks. I mained paladin in BfA and it was fun but damn it took a bit longer to get the gear I wanted.
ha, hilarious that my main list is the same as yours! Definitely feel the same way, lots of winners this time around, but my rogue is definitely spending all her time in the tavern until changes are made. 😛
Never resonated with shaman in my 14 years of wow until now. Shaman will be my main with pally, fistweaver, hunter, & either mage or lock as my PvP alts
Mage main, Paladin alt has been my combo many times for many expansions. I always try to mix it up every so often in some xpacs just because I feel im missing out especially since I'm an altoholic, so I play Balance druid a lot in some xpacs and DK when frost ACTUALLY feels fun, so I've been REALLY tempted to go frost DK for once. Personally, I'm fine with my Tank being easy since I'm not a tank main, I'm a caster main so guardian is often my Go to tank if not prot paladin. So It's caused me to be conflicted on which two I want to focus since I debated on having my paladin sit for now, alt frost DK and have blood Tank but Blood tank seemed a tad difficult.
I am goin' druid this time. I just wanna level fast and easy and enjoy the story. I won't do end game things. With stealth some quests are going to be faster. Being able to collect items in travel form makes some other quests faster. Being able to switch to travel form without cast time make other things faster.
Idk why I watched this video. I’m just going to play a DK like I always do. Blood always feels great to play and you just can’t beat the class fantasy and burst potential of unholy.
As a Balance main since TBC, the spec feels fine - frankly better than DF since I didn't run pulsar. It's that other specs got a massive glowup, not Balance becoming actively worse. But god that class tree. I've hated it since DF launch.
I came here hoping to learn how the classes feel and play with the changes, instead I got some generic tier list with comments like "things are improved" or "These are good classes". Maybe useful for some, but it didn't really help me make any choices for a main.
I've been doing shadow priest in tww and to be honest I might be a bit squishy but I dish out a ton of burst dps and can quickly kill groups of mobs in world content
@@damo8791 Yes there is. If you pick a main that you don’t enjoy just because it’s meta or that your team needs a specific role. Or if you pick a dead spec that you don’t care much about.

@@havtor007 you are missing the point he was trying to make dude
I love how many comments didnt actually watch the video. Saying stuff like ”play whatever u want there are no wrong choices, i dont care about charts or numbers”
Thats bellulars whole point… dont do flavour of the month top rankings, pick something u enjoy and get good at it.
Too true bro wild how people have to feel like they have some moral high ground.
But. But the title!
As someone that mained a Ret since 2005, this videos are funny to me
Survival is finally in the state I wanted it to be in since its rework in Legion.
I think M+ S1 will be a Bear Meta, it's in a good place tbh, Resto is the real worry in the current beta state
the video is not about the meta
This expansion has been one of the toughest for me to choose my two “main chars.” And I mean that in a good way because of what I see as a lot of fun, interesting changes
Outside of Havoc DH being a complete and total mess to play (opener is 18 specific inputs) and messing up slightly puts you at tank-level DPS. It's just unfun (coming from a now-former Havoc main). Other, play what you want and what you're good at.
rogues hero talents dont work witht he specs they are ment to be for because the specs mechanics lol
I miss when DH was just spam tbh
Whats it like to raid /M+ as havoc? I've mained a rogue for years but I didn't have as much fun doing end game with that last time because of the awkward aoe and I think the spamminess is finally getting to me. Was considering havoc or maybe a mage.
@@Perid0tStar With the new hero talents? Awful to play for decent damage. It's a big clunky opener every single pack. I was a Havoc main from 7.0 to 10.3, and I'm going back to Survival (main from 1.0 to 6.2).
You can do well if you invest time into practicing your spec/class. Let people play what they wanna play.
Ill play that what i played always. I dont care for numbers. I care for my character whit whom i played the whole game.
If anyone is telling you you're playing the wrong class you need to GQUIT immediately and block them 🤨
This video is about picking the wrong class FOR YOU.
Maybe not the wrong class but spec for sure! we want the most pew pew :D
I wish every single player would listen and heed this video.
Cant wait for those rogue class changes 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Ret pally checking in 👊🏻 can’t decide between alt’ing a mage or hunter either. Both are classes I’ve wanted to explore
One thing re: 2h melee is there is usually a ton of competition for the drops, i.e. there will be a lot of dps playing paladin, warrior, and dk, not to mention dk tanks. I mained paladin in BfA and it was fun but damn it took a bit longer to get the gear I wanted.
I been playing a human warrior since vanilla and will continue here. My main alts are Mage, DK, and Pally.
ha, hilarious that my main list is the same as yours!
My rogue tops charts in 90% of heroics I do, assassination feels great
Mage main, Paladin alt has been my combo many times for many expansions.
I'm here because i keep leveling classes, but i can't play because i don't know what to main sadge
If i still play the Loremaster, i already have chosen Draenei MM Hunter for that.
Raiding: Shadow Priest.
PvP: Frost DK, Retri Paladin, Fury Warrior.
Been a Windwalker Monk since WoD. Will be a Windwalker Monk until long after The Worldsoul Saga
Ret Pally since 2015...but I LOVE my 7 Alts equally!! 😎
My warband: warrior, pally, mage, & monk. Guess I’m in for a good time!
Coming fast, still haven't decided! Hopefully this will help me lol!
As a feral druid, I've been perfectly happy.
As a PPal main, prot is pretty far behind all the other tanks. And you'll notice it before you hit +10 in m+. Probably just fine for raid up to CE.
I've been doing shadow priest in tww and to be honest I might be a bit squishy but I dish out a ton of burst dps and can quickly kill groups of mobs in world content
We are close, I'm Pally Hunter then Lock, been doing the same for yearssss
Oh boy, I recall playing balance druid at Nelth mythic. Oh boy what a nightmare it was
There’s no wrong choice here. Just play the class you enjoy.
Man i just play what I've played since MOP. Brewmaster Monk. Before that i was a Marks Hunter from Vanilla to Cata.
People folk to the specs with the most potential regardless the likelyhood of the average player reaching that potential. Based.
Fury Warrior is the only right answer best spec ever made
Ok. So that's your opinion. Its your right.
just play what ever you want, this shoudlnt be a question in 2024
Bellular resorting to clickbait titles is so damned funny
What is clickbait about it?
And this is new?
@@victorlotz3457 there is no WRONG choice.
@@damo8791 Yes there is. If you pick a main that you don’t enjoy just because it’s meta or that your team needs a specific role. Or if you pick a dead spec that you don’t care much about.
@@victorlotz3457 you're brainwashed. Meta doesn't matter for 99% of players.
There is no wrong choice. The class that you choose should be the one that is most fun for you.
