@@jimmyodinson9841 i lose interest in a char after a couple of weeks, so ofc i gotta look to a new alt. i don't understand how people can stay on the same class for years on end, without being bored to tears. guess we're all different
I leveled one in remix and the rest with the prepatch stuff. Honestly, I think because all I did was fly and go to where other people went to respawn the boss faster, I did not learn my class while leveling and so I’m kind of lost on what I want to pick.
I find fun in basically every class, always switch around every xpac so I never get far into endgame. Been playing since 2005 and it’s always been my curse
Same, very frustrating. I think the alt-friendliness of retail makes it even worse. Actually been playing classic for this reason. But missing out on the new content :/
Feel like Augvokers should have gotten a special shout out here with their unique role as a supportive DPS. Their damage is dookie but they buff everyone else in the group so if you want to feel like more of a team player but don't want the responsibility of healing or tanking Augvoker might be for you.
I am finally letting go of my hunter that I have mained for so many years. I feel like in The War Within and with the Warband system, the game is more accountwide than ever. I love to collect stuff and farm achievements and now that achievement progression and reputation is accountwide, I have come to a decision to make a big change. Going to main holy paladin! The guild I have been with for 13 years needs healers and I like paladin alot. Can always gear up all three specs if needed
I like your acknowledgement of the positive and negative mental and emotional bonuses of playing these different roles. I feel like I haven't seen that mentioned very often.
I normally play casters (both damaging and healing on basically ever class depending on the expansion) but I always enjoyed the super mobile demon hunter as one as the few melee classes ive enjoyed so i think i might main my DH and use this as a chance to finally try out tanking and finally try to do mythic raids and stuff consistently.
I always start a new expac with my tried and true main; Enhancement shaman. But, with all the cool new abilities coming for every class in the new hero talents I can't pick which to play first this time. The arcane mage looks amazing, commanding an army of demons with the demo warlock, or maybe crush foes with a powerful death knight. Honestly, thanks to the warband system my army of alts will be MVP for my indecisive playstyle :)
If you're a casual player who pugs a lot a hybrid class is the best. DPS q can get quite long and frustrating. Tank and healer q are sometimes instant. Also for tanking I found people are more forgiving in the beginning of an expansion because everyone is learning. So it's a great chance to learn tanking the new content.
I'm a new player and created an army of Vulperas on MoP remix so I can pick the class I liked the most in the end Some of my favorites so far are Fury Warrior, Affliction Warlock, BM Hunter and Restoration Shaman
Fantastic and fun video! I am likely going to main my Dwarf resto shammy - I like playing the race most tied to an expansion or patch. I LOVE the Warband concept - I have wanted this for years!!! I have a full suite/quiver of all healers at 70 ready to go, and a bunch of DPS 70's ready to take on the TWW.
I have been maining an assassination rogue for the past several expansions but will likely shelve him for a bit to have fun with my primary alternate, my arcane mage. Looking forward to exploring the changes and the hero talents. My first ever character was a warrior, all through vanilla, BC and WotLK but I haven't tanked with him since Wrath and he's been pretty much neglected. However, I took him from 41 to 70 in the pre-patch and he's now almost as geared as the rogue and mage, so I may explore tanking again (and TG fury of course). Looking forward to follower dungeons so I can re-learn tanking (and maybe healing) in a non-judgmental environment.
You put into words my current phylosophy. I was changing flavor of the month all the time in dragonflight, but got tired, frustrated and bored with changing main every other week. So for tww and the forseeable future, i went back to the class i started wow with, and stuck with all from start to the end of cata. I started as a amge, and went back to my roots to reroll mage yet again. I won't care for online statistics or tier lists anymore, since there is not an expansion where all 3 mage specs are completely trash, if i learn al 3 then if one gets nerfed i can just freely swap talents and be okay. Mage clicked with me, so i'M sticking to my class through thick and thin.
Well, I have one character for each spec in the game, so this expansion could not have come soon enough for me. I always end up picking a main, at least to start with, but this expansion has me guessing. I am kind of leaning towards priest for a few reasons. First, this whole saga, imo, is going to come down to light vs. void. Second, priest can dps and heal usually pretty well and last, well Xal'atath. Hoping for some class fantasy bonus stuff. Close second for me was Paladin though.
The absolute shade thrown at the butt poking melee dps was hilarious 😂 Been a rogue since vanilla, or as I call it, Camilla. Made a DK during Wrath, because why not, an evoker when I came back in DF, cause why not, and then between remix and pre xpac event I made one char of every class, cause why the hell not. Having one of each makes it hard to chose a main of course, they’re all great in their own way. ATM I do have it down to a few choices: Pala prot or ret, Mage, Brewmaster Monk, DK blood or frost, and my old rogue for kicks (see what I did there?)
I always choose my main by coordinating with my friends. Do we want to focus on PvP; what's a good comp to make - who's healing? Do we want to push keys; who's tanking?
My simple formula: Paladin, Druid, Hunter, Mage. Gives you a diverse set of options, from 2h melee to sword and board, ranged based on magic and weapons, healer, DPS, tank. Plate, Mail, Leather, and Cloth. Four classes that are core to the game's lore, have lots of cool transmog, and consistently perform pretty well unless you're a Mythic raider. Most of them have access to convenience like teleport spells, and have high survivability, too. Not just that, but if you enjoy playing as one of the "good guys" representing the cosmic forces of the Light, Life, or Order, then you're all set. If you like playing DnD archetypes like Paladin, Mage, Ranger, Thief, etc. then these are able to cover most of them.
Funny how we most of us come to the same conclusion over the years. I always kept 4 mains: Druid, Priest, Warlock, Paladin. With warbands though my strat is likely changing.
I’m having a blast on my ele shaman in pvp. The utility they offer is a lot of fun. I never played warrior so I’ll give that a shot I think.. I played the first 2 seasons as prot pally in DF. I’ve been playing wow since 2006
I can't decide on a single MAIN Class. I have to for our guild Raid though. So I started leveling ALL of the availb. dd classes.. only ones left are Tabaluga(Dractyr which im not gonna play, looks stupid imho), Shaman and shadowpriest. I think I'm gonna start S1 with a melee.. right now its either Assa rogue, Ret Paladin, Frost DK or Windwalker Monk.. Can't really decide what to play of those tho.
"Tanks set the pace" yeah sure. always that one try hard DPS or impatient healer who's got more important stuff to do. this is why I hate running full pug groups. thankfully I have a large guild of laid back players who keep it entertaining in the discord VC with random conversation
Using that insane amount of exp for the expac event I’ve manage to get every class to 70. They have zero gear but I have them all. Finally. Just wish I knew how much of pre expac currenties I need for for sets of gear
i just woke up thinking what class to choose and thinking of this guy YT channel name to watch the guide , i opened pc and see SIgns of Kelani guide... :DDD TY brah
Think Ill go with my Ret Pally as main, then Blood DK, then Moonkin and Hunter. I plan to dip into a tonne of alts this season for a professions alt army though
"A dead dps does no dps". That is so true. I hate players who try to vote- kick someone in their group for doing "too low dps", just because they try to avoid mechanics.
as alwayes you are making so nice a wive of what you can play and like all kinda's of spels and stuf ;) you are whole mate have not played wow for over 2 years now but i kinda want to just comback for the new expantion and see what is going on :)
It’s honestly the best part of tanking. But that’s just my opinion. Theorycrafting routes if you have a group of specific specc is amazing, optimizing each classes utilities for certain parts of dungeons is so much fun. That’s why most high m+ tanks hate linear dungeons. But this also requires the ability to expect dps players to do their job, impossible in Pugs.
I'll continue to play my main four classes: mage (my main since 2005), druid (since 2005), shaman (since TBC), and paladin (since 2005). I'll eventually level all my 70s to 80, but that will take a while. I prefer ranged damage but also enjoy tanking and healing.
"it's the tank that usually pulls mobs in dungeons...." 🤣🤣🤣 clearly you haven't ran PuG M+ as a tank with all these OP healers or DPS that think they can safely pull groups of mobs mid-fight, in an already big AoE pull, in +10 and up? I love watching them get mauled to death, especially when it's not even my key, only to watch them nerd rage. Epic! 😍
I have opposite experience and I only pug M+. Literally noone pull before tank except some unintentional errors. The "gogogogo" mentality is long time ago gone.
@@Asag321oh how I wish. Altho I'm a speedster tank myself, I don't like it when someone else add to an already big pull. To make it even better they run away from me, instead towards, when they pull off aggro so that's a favorite wild goose chase of mine. 😊❤️ I might sound salty or sarcastic but these kinda pulls genuinely fills me with so much joy! 😂 I do feel bad for the key holder tho. 👀
I'm playing M+ with my wife, she tanks I heal and the amount of times I've said "Ah, rest is gonna die to cleave, I'll get you some more mobs to tank" just to annoy her is more than I can count lol
For many years all classes though primarily Rogue, though a few years back I went Druid and now the flexibility of all roles makes playing any other class difficult to justify investment of limited time ^^;;
Blizzard should make scenario for players or delvs or something where everyone have to heal and npc would be program on running out side of range, not standing in line of sight, not leting you as healer regen mana and chain pulling all the time and if this could be as conditions to enter dungeons then we could have community who understand and care about each other bit more. Cause there are so many ignorants thats its just horrible to watch and teach everyone to improve on basic stuff.
As a tank in almost every epac listen READ. Stop pulling for the tank in heroics you may get away with it but I’m telling you outright you start pulling for your tank in mythics or higher you are gonna get instakicked no second chance
In dragonflight warriors feelt bad for M+ ok for raid. If you got almost 0 utility on warrior you might as well take another class to the M+ that does same or better dmg + have utility. Warriors bring basicly 0 value compared to a warlock or ret pala for example. They really should give warriors more cc for the affixes or increase the dmg warrior does
I honestly find tanking to be easiest - most of your routine is rotating CDs and taunting now and then. I love the pace of healing - it keeps me on my toes! It's really not THAT hard - but DPS stresses me out because you know you want to pull your weight...if you're screwing up, you hit enrage. There's so much more pressure on the DPS, that role makes me more anxious!
I'm still deciding between Arcane/Frost mage, Destro/Aff lock or Elemental shaman... or Frost/UH DK. I'm probably going to level all of them before season starts and have all Hero Talents tested for myself to decide which I'm going to stick with.
As a tank main yes for me its simple BM monk and blood dk as those are not that can be used in high M+ and raid without feeling like shit, Because blizzard just loves to nerf tanks and cause more SL season 1 tank drought AGAIN.
Ive been dabbling with Frost DK and Enhance shammy. I think i might stick with DK and run shammy as an alt as there is just so many buttons for shammy and ive been enjoying the flow of Frost DK alot more
Regarding your last question "Do we still need a main?". Unfortunately yes. Since I like having a consistent overall progress I work on (playing through the expansion from start to finish, doing every quest, etc.), I must have a main. Switching freely between characters to work on your main progress is still not possible because each character has its own progress. For me, warbands have been a missed opportunity. Over the past years, Blizzard have pushed alts more and more making them easier to level, have an easier way of transferring stuff to them, and have certain things like reputation warband-wide. The thing that is still the same is the notion of "there is a main, and one or more alts". I love the world and its story, and I love most of the 38(?) specs that are in game. But playing through the story (and every quest) gets boring when I do it all on the same character. When I get bored of my warrior, it would be so great to be able to switch to frost mage and continue exactly where I left off with the warrior. (*You* are the character with a single progress, and the classes and specs are just swappable skins that switch up spells and visuals.) Being able to skip parts of the story as an "alt" is not the same as only really having one single progression for a bunch of characters. What warbands could have been: There are basically two big kinds of players: The ones that want WoW to remain an RPG where as little as possible is shared between characters and each character having their own progression. The others want to enjoy the game and all the classes while not losing progress as soon as you want to use a different class's spec. As it was implemented, warbands is just another word for account-wide. What it could have been is a system where you *choose* to combine characters to a warband for them to share EVERYTHING (your whole progress, where you're positioned in the world, etc.). The characters you don't put in a warband are left as single characters with their own progression.
yeah Mains are still a thing, but with the systems in place, you can actually feel like you can switch up and not get penalized for it, which feels lowkey amazing.
People always find time to complain, just finish the campaign on one char after that you can cross cross however you want. If you really want to do each quest of a questline on a different char it’s not blizzards problem to solve.
As some one who very much enjoys tanks in Final Fantasy XIV how would I fair tanking in World of Warcraft as a complete newbie? Interested in trying out WoW but I hear the playerbase is not forgiving at all to new players in content
I've been an army of Alts guy for a while now (I have an alt for most specs) but my "main" has been balance druid for probably a decade. It just feels kinda boring right now, though. Gonna try the Follower Dungeon tanking thing to see if I enjoy but it's definitely intimidating. Maybe I move to my MM hunter or Havoc DH. I dunno. Having a tough time with it.
im a recognized adhd altoholic, heres the most crucial parts that helped me pick a main: Is bl/cr important for you? if so: it leaves you with mage, hunter, lock, paladin, druid, shaman, dk, evoker. do you want to strictly dps or have a tank/healing possibility? if so: it leaves you with paladin, druid, shaman, dk, evoker. do you like mobile characters? if so: it leaves you with druid, shaman, evoker. do you like atleast 2 specs but would be open to playing the third if so? evoker for me. same thing for the alter, i went for dk because of the CR and because i like the 3 specs.
I need help, i have always been a tank/healer, but lifesituation changed so dont have time for pve, so i started pvp, and being healer in pvp just frickin sucks, so i need to play dps, but im just really not any good at doing damage..
Problem with character selection is the community gets so focussed on the ‘meta’, you’ll get left behind on M+ and Raid Qs because you’re ’not the right spec’.
I want to main healer but i play solo and doing Q and world Q alone as healer is 900x slower.... and when i switch in dps from heal its still not that good idk
TL:DR it doesn’t matter. Everything is soloable by any class and any spec and now NPCs just clear dungeons for you. Just pick what you think looks coolest and you’ll have a blast
I look at what I enjoy to play best for a class, regardless of performance. I pick what I enjoy to look at more for a race.. at the bottom of my list idk what's worse, the silly mechagnomes or the ugly dracthyrs.
As a solo player, I prefer maining classes that solo well. Blood DK, prot pally, BM hunter, and guardian druid. Warlocks are iffy since the tank pet has been garbage for years now, but they have good self-heals if you don't mind juggling fear. Havok DHs are okay solo if you get good shard RNG. I haven't played evoker. Healing is cancer except in large pvp groups where nobody expects heals anyhow (good place to practice for pve). Tanking is best. Nobody expects you to heal. Nobody expects you to have high dps numbers. If you just let everyone know at the beginning that you're new, most dungeon groups don't mind showing the ropes as long as you hold agro. You take your time and learn bosses and layouts. Open world groups are always happy to have someone hold a mob for them. If you want to learn content for lfr and over, switch to a dps spec and watch what the tanks do until you get comfortable enough to try tanking it. All that said, druid master race. Good dps for a tank, good self-heals, easy to use, two dps specs and a heal spec in one package, plus stealth for leveling.
With the warbands and 4 "main character" login screen why not main 4 characters if youre super casual. Its like sending your party on missions for them to do different content! Thats me trying to cope with not being able to choose a main. So i have a druid in the emerald dream atm, a mage in dalaran, a shaman somewhere and paladin in stormwind.
I have always started and expansion with my my frost mage but I play all classes. I would like to try something different like my healer shamman or monk or my tank paladin. I can´t still make up my mind completely and we have less than a week. I guess It will be my frost mage and the next 3 could be my shaman, paladin and priest.
doing as i always do, gotta represent that Ret life. my Crafting Toons and Tanks will be following right behind him however, i am playing the hell out of TWW, 5 more days to EA.

I might sound salty or sarcastic but these kinda pulls genuinely fills me with so much joy! 😂 I do feel bad for the key holder tho. 👀
This is 100% my experience. Insane. Sometimes I just stand there. Not my pull. Clearly I’m not the tank on this one.
These dps players clearly want to be tanks without any of the responsibilities.
I'm playing M+ with my wife, she tanks I heal and the amount of times I've said "Ah, rest is gonna die to cleave, I'll get you some more mobs to tank" just to annoy her is more than I can count lol
Thanks for the video
For many years all classes though primarily Rogue, though a few years back I went Druid and now the flexibility of all roles makes playing any other class difficult to justify investment of limited time ^^;;
Blizzard should make scenario for players or delvs or something where everyone have to heal and npc would be program on running out side of range, not standing in line of sight, not leting you as healer regen mana and chain pulling all the time and if this could be as conditions to enter dungeons then we could have community who understand and care about each other bit more. Cause there are so many ignorants thats its just horrible to watch and teach everyone to improve on basic stuff.
The best "Pick your main" guide out there.
As a tank in almost every epac listen READ. Stop pulling for the tank in heroics you may get away with it but I’m telling you outright you start pulling for your tank in mythics or higher you are gonna get instakicked no second chance
Scary void mommy wants me to play voidweaver shadow priest...
Cannot decide between Warri and DK... changing my decision like twice per day - never was so difficult for me to decide!
In dragonflight warriors feelt bad for M+ ok for raid. If you got almost 0 utility on warrior you might as well take another class to the M+ that does same or better dmg + have utility. Warriors bring basicly 0 value compared to a warlock or ret pala for example. They really should give warriors more cc for the affixes or increase the dmg warrior does
Agree I'm stuck between ret and dh and balance druid in pvp I'm so confused bro 😢😢
@@alebalerthe affixes are gone if you didn’t notice ;)
My beloved main is Frost DW DK just love my frost theme .
What's the best duo combo for a couple that want to start playing WoW? I'm a returning player and my GF is new to PC gaming in general.
GF play Hunter and you play Paladin
Ive been dabbling with Frost DK and Enhance shammy. I think i might stick with DK and run shammy as an alt as there is just so many buttons for shammy and ive been enjoying the flow of Frost DK alot more
sticking to my shadow priest, although I am tempted by unholy dk xD
What warbands could have been:
There are basically two big kinds of players: The ones that want WoW to remain an RPG where as little as possible is shared between characters and each character having their own progression.
If you really want to do each quest of a questline on a different char it’s not blizzards problem to solve.
blud turned a thumbnail into 19 minutes video, pro-tip, research, try and test, and pick a favourite!
Hey Salami, this is folks!
You forgot there's a melee that can scratch and bite your boss' butt off
im a recognized adhd altoholic, heres the most crucial parts that helped me pick a main:
Is bl/cr important for you? if so: it leaves you with mage, hunter, lock, paladin, druid, shaman, dk, evoker.
do you want to strictly dps or have a tank/healing possibility? if so: it leaves you with paladin, druid, shaman, dk, evoker.
do you like mobile characters? if so: it leaves you with druid, shaman, evoker.
do you like atleast 2 specs but would be open to playing the third if so? evoker for me.
same thing for the alter, i went for dk because of the CR and because i like the 3 specs.
What is bl/cr?

I want to give monk a try, I might go wind walker.
I’m running enhancement shaman as my main and arcane mage as my alt!
You should cover your hair "mother of 2 convert to Islam". What a joke lol.
Going for balance this time as it is super simple or play something meta
Melee- pally (fun fun fun) , ranged - Hunter (mobility)
I need help, i have always been a tank/healer, but lifesituation changed so dont have time for pve, so i started pvp, and being healer in pvp just frickin sucks, so i need to play dps, but im just really not any good at doing damage..
If they make Healing spec and Tanks spec more viable in leveling and doing normal stuff.
alot more people would play it.
Protection paladin. Going on 12 years.
whatever I play has to have a tankspec because otherwise my friends will be mad
I guess it's time to main SV this season, right?
if you don't know what a tank is, maybe picking your main for the latest expansion is above what you should be worried about.
Problem with character selection is the community gets so focussed on the ‘meta’, you’ll get left behind on M+ and Raid Qs because you’re ’not the right spec’.
Then make your own groups or you know, find some friends, god forbid.
Always played priest but maybe i will try something different just for fun lol
I'm really on the fence about trying mage. I want to try it, but I keep hearing bad things about it.
Plate armor looks best xmog on orcs and bloodelf. Still maining main alting the plate class
Mage, Warlock, Paladin, Shaman, DK, Warrior
If you want to get invited in PUGs, play a meta meta spec. If you play with a premade play whatever you want. That's the only truth.
I think "what role you want to play" is the worst way to start. It should be what is esthetically pleasing.
We're really this many expansions in and making videos that say "tanks are for tanking and healers are for healing"?
Mage again for the *checks notes* 18th year 😮
I’ve never had a “main” I’d get bored of if I only played one class
A main doesn't mean you only play that class, just that you mainly play that one, only playing one class would be a one trick pony
Nope, still can't decide ... lol! But I enjoyed the guide, thanks!
