One thing I greatly appreciate about your company is the fact that you guys appear to be more transparent than most regarding your product evolutions, QC issues and publicly acknowledging reported issues with your products. Having worked in the industry myself, I can say that transparency is not a common trait. Good luck on recovery and thanks for keeping us posted!
I'm VERY happy to hear that you guys managed to own the situation and are recovering! Desert tech is my favorite gun company, your honest and open approach to the public and enthusiasm about your work is extremely welcome and commendable. And your product line is awsome, hopefully I will be able to afford getting myself one of those WLVRNs one day. Stay safe and running till then! Fingers crossed!
Bro you cant do limited colors i cant afford it 😭. Jokes aside those look absolutely dope and im happy to see you guys recover. Running a business while dealing with a massive problem like that is super hard. Shoutout to those IT guys i hope they get to have that vacation soon.
Wow. Really glad to hear that you are doing okay. Even happier to hear that you're starting to make your own barrels. Does that also mean there is a better chance we might be able to get an 8.6BLK Micron kit? Talk about a match made in heaven!
They are not making their own barrels. They are doing the finish machining for the outside profile. Someone still needs to make the barrel blank for them.
We are busy tooling up for existing calibers but yes it will greatly speed up development of future offerings but we have a lot to do before we get there.
The complete Trek-22 rifle is definetly a step up. But an even greater improvement would be to incorporate other after market features that Ruger refuses to do. Easy cleaning through Fletcher 11/22 open top receiver, plus that could give you a more solid metal rail for optics. Tandemkross Manticore lower for better mag release. TacSol X-Ring dual spring bolt would be an improvement, especially if DLC coated like the Volquartsen ones. Lightweight carbon fiber barrel. We usually only get one or two nice patented features on a particular rifle, but then the other 8 we want are proprietary and don't mix. Combine them all and win.
I don't suppose fluted barrel options could be a "upgrade option" in the future now that you do the finish machining? And possibly a higher end barrel blank? That would be quite desirable.
I'm so sorry, Nick. I know this is hurting your Desert Tech family. I'm praying for all of you and my hope is that this dark time will pass and everyone will be able to come back and your Desert Tech family will be up and running at 100%. The barrel announcement is REALLY exciting. In the past, that was something that was a criticism. Now? That should be put to bed. Looking forward to the coming year for Desert Tech.
Great to have this update now, but it would've been even better to have some earlier updates, even just short ones. That could've eliminated a lot of speculation. We all like to see american companies succeed, get more and higher quality weapons at lower prices. But i understand how people were legitimately worried about your company going under and never getting spare parts again.
I've always wanted an OD Green WLVRN! Guess this'll be my excuse to get one 🤷♂️ Also, now that you're manufacturing barrels in house, will we be seeing some heavier more dmr type barrels for the WLVRN?
Oh man is that OD Green😩?! I finally made a great decision and bought my WLVRN last month but I have always hoped for an OD version! I guess I'll have to paint mine 😂, but so happy to finally own one! Sorry to hear about the ransomware, you are far far from being alone in that unfortunate situation. Keep up the great work!
i don't understand the lack of air gapping with a lot of confidential servers or not having read only servers, both those things are really uncommon i'm learning when it comes to companies. Because you should always have a main backup that you can not touch, without physically going to it. Or one interesting option i've heard is to have a simulated network between things that clears all changes and updates by comparing operation to a read only network, and once it's all clear it goes to the active network. This putting everything is this weird state of you never actually read and write to the same network.
I just uploaded a follow up video on how my MDRX was performing on my channel. Spoiler alert, it’s awesome!! Then I started getting comments about DT getting hacked. Glad you guys are pulling through! You are one of the few companies that are willing to push the envelope and create something new and innovative. I have the Quattro and the MDRX. Will probably pick up a WLVRN in the near future too! You guys are awesome! Keep it up! Bullpups are better than the AR15: Desert Tech MDRX Part 2 ruclips.net/video/ji4GHXnDZEE/видео.html
i cant imagine what info was lost with all the cool stuff you guys make was anything lose in the quattro 15 department? i mean i was wondering if we were ever going to get a 75/100rnd quattro 15 or something with 6mm max
I.understand and smoothies.with that view but I would believe it since desert tech rifles had shown up in the Ukraine conflict. It is very possible that Russian entities would target companies who's arms show up on the other side.
That sucks that you had to let people go bc of something so stupid. If I’m not mistaken the dealerships paid them about 8 million dollars to get back running
It was what is called a day 1 attack. Most governments know about vulnerabilities that they don't say anything about so that they can deploy them when they can get.the most out of those attacks. They are called day 1 attacks because they are easy to patch and you usually only have a day before that attack won't work anymore.
Really liking the online personality that DT has put forward. If you guys need electrical / lighting service work, let me know! Will trade professional, licensed electrical work for DT products!
It would be great if you could share some information on the attack vector, what IT processes led to having to rebuild from scratch, and what you’re doing differently moving forward from a technical, financial, and managerial perspective.
Glad to hear that you are recovering well from the cyber attack. Still, Desert Tech should split the MDR family into large and small frame. A combat reliable 5.56 (and .300blk) size bullpup. No .308 size and weight, no mag inserts. Just the gun the AUG, Tavor, L85 and Famas always wanted to be. 16" and 12" (and 8" 300blk) options. Monolithic top rail and removable lower handguard half. Comfy/ changable cheek pads. Either a steeper or even better exchangable AR pistol grips. Oh, and maybe an improved trigger pack. Work with Triggertech or Hiperfire. We would absolutely pay for even better (reliable!) triggers. Also, a stronger charging handle. And then the big boy rifle for .308, 6.5creed and nowadays 8.6blackout.
Why russian? What kind of proof do you have? Attacks can be made from everywhere and everyone through servers all over the world. The attack could even be made from your neighbor....
Is it true that you will no longer warranty MDRX rifles but sold them stating they were life time warrantied? My understanding is current MDRX owners are being told that their rifles are no longer eligible for warranty due to being end of life/end of service.
They claim to have a minimum of 5 years of parts and supplies for the MDR and MDRX rifles, and last I checked, they said they would still warranty my MDR if I needed.
Because they've moved onto a new generation of MDRX (WLVRN), the lifetime of your MDRX is expiring soon. They'll still repair it until they run out of parts for the MDRX. So you could probably get another 5-10 years of parts out of it. Personally, I think they should have allowed previous generation owners to buy the new generation at a discount.
@@that1guy_248 no, what they should do is if the MDRX breaks or if a part breaks that is necessary for the function of the rifle to work, Desert Tech should at the very minimum offer a heavily discounted WLVRN. IWI for example (a stand up company) will replace their Galil Ace with a Galil Ace gen 2 if you shoot out your barrel because they do not have the tools stateside to replace barrels on that platform. Desert Tech should do something similar and offer some kind of compensation if a MDRX breaks AND becomes unrepairable.
