Hi Sara, first of all, great video, as always. Second, you keep showing the bottom line of sales for the pages and products, and while I love the idea, please share some of the expenses and costs along the way: How much do (you) these business invest on marketing e.g. Facebook ads in order to achieve such results? what can you say about the NET profit of running such a business? Also, can you share from your experience, what is an average estimation for a newbie who wants to start such a business, what can one expects in term of ROI? breakeven? Thanks.
Thank you! And don't overthink the marketing costs on Etsy. Most Etsy stores make the majority of their sales from free traffic, and don't bother advertising offsite on places like Facebook. I'll have a video out in 2 weeks discussing that. In terms of product costs, for POD, the profit margins most products/stores work with is anywhere from 20-50%. For digital products, outside of Etsy fees, it's pure profit. I have videos where I break down how to calculate profits for specific items, if you'd like to do that yourself for any of these using a profit calculator. For example, I do it in this video: ruclips.net/video/JnyQqtz8E2E/видео.html
Love this. But I’m concerned about infringing copyright. Canva specifically says you can’t use standalone images but have to use elements in combination to create something unique, and how do you insure Pixabay images are free to use for commercial purposes? Thx.
A couple of things. One: Canva says that their elements can't be used standalone, but these aren't Canva's elements I used. I used images with a CC0 license (effectively a public domain license), that happen to be hosted by Pixabay, a website that while Canva has now bought, they can't change the CC0 license on. I suspect they are vague about this on purpose but that's just my own personal conspiracy theory. I have a video I made on this a couple of weeks ago, I highly recommend watching it: ruclips.net/video/IC1GFXiJK7A/видео.html Two: Canva have confirmed with me that modifying a picture - such as changing it's colors - counts as modifying it. What you couldn't do, is take an image that doesn't have a CC0 license and sell it as-is (but legally, you could with a CC0 license). Again I highly recommend watching my previous video - it adds a lot of context!
These are awesome videos, Sarah!! How do the customers who purchase these actually turn them into wall art? Once a print is bigger than 8x11 they can't just print it themselves. They send the file to an Office supply store? Or an online printer like Vista Prints? Then it will have to be shipped to them & they'll have to purchase frames and put them together. That just seems like so much more expense & hassle than just trying to find something already made. But I guess if you want a very specific look then people don't care because they are clearly selling!
It's a big mixture. Some hobbyists have printers at home they use. Others do go print it out professionally. From their perspective its much faster. They can buy it, download it and get it printed that day, versus having to wait for it to be delivered.
Wall Art on Etsy can be sold successfully as either a POD product, or a digital product. Some of these are digital/printable, some are being sold as POD
What provider do you use for that? And how do you upload all these Designs considering there is quit a SKU hussle for multiple products in one Listing when it comes to Etsy
Hey! Thanks for the idea. Do you have a video them at goes over how to format the images and how to load them into your Canva store? Is this in your course?
What do you do with your creations after you’ve made them on Canva? Do you just keep them as downloads to sell and those that buy them turn them into prints? If so, how do you do that?
It's up to you! You can download them & uploading them to a POD service to sell them as physical prints, or you could download them as PDFs and sell them as digital downloads.
Great video! Thank you! Still a big question looming here. You can create amazing designs, but if 100,000 are doing the same, with perfect SEO and thumbnails, how are you going to stand out ?! At the end of the day, if you don't make sales, what is all the effort worth? Just trying to be realistic, not pessimistic! 😊
Love your videos, but why do you not mention something about resolution of the images and size of prints ? Should be an important part of the process, so you don´t get low quality prints!
I talk about this a lot though? I even included a big section of it in one of my latest videos, that discusses how to save files for high resolution printing with Canva and gives 3 step by step mini tutorials: ruclips.net/video/nch2NObpZSg/видео.html
Hi Sara, I have a question that no one seems to know the answer of, since you have so much experience in this kind of stuff please answer the following question, a video about this would be even better but if not, at least answer it. The question is: If you create Ai generated clipart or digital images that you want to sell, which license should you offer your clients for that ? Can you offer commercial rights? Or you would have to stick to personal usage rights? By the way the Ai generator is Midjourney to he more specific. Thanks in advance. For some reason every content creator avoids answering to this question.
HI Sarah, thanks for the informative video. How do I know for 100% certainty that the images in Pixabay have the CC0 License? The Content License Summary states what you can and can't do! In terms of what you can't do is the following: ' You cannot sell or distribute Content (either in digital or physical form) on a Standalone basis. Standalone means where no creative effort has been applied to the Content and it remains in substantially the same form as it exists on our website.' - Based on what you have done with some of your examples, is modified the original. Question - Is it okay to sell the modified version as it is no longer standalone?
Yes I do know that. I chose photos with a CC0 license. I explain it fully in this video: ruclips.net/video/IC1GFXiJK7A/видео.html The Canva license rules, and Pixabay license rules mean nothing. They do not own these pictures, they can't control how anyone uses them legally. However, it's still poor practice to sell the as is, unmodified, usually. Although some photos I showed are actually sold in their unmodified form in Etsy, because CC0 rules do allow it. But in this video, I do modify them because usually, it is good practice to.
Great Video! But are you selling these as printable downloads or POD photos with/without frames? Are more customers purchasing digital downloads instead of the physical product?
Hi again Sarah! I have created an aesthetic collection of 3 pieces of wall art. The photos I downloaded from Pixabay but edited in Canva. How are they uploaded to Etsy, 1 at a time or all 3? Thanks again Sarah for your great advice.
Thank you! You upload it is as single product, but usually, you'd order it for the customer as a manual order. Save each piece of art as a template product, then do a manual order and add them in. It takes about 2-3 minutes 🙏
@@WholesaleTed Thank you for explaining this bit!! Of the videos I have seen about selling these type of art photos I couldn’t find anything about actually fulfilling the orders 👍🏾
Like the video and watched your videos often. I want to get started as another passive income stream but I have some concerns over the recent news with Etsy and with holding payments. Do you have any thoughts on this?
This is an issue usually impacting hand-made sellers not POD sellers, because hand-made sellers don't always ship items out on time. That's because with hand-made items, there is often a back-forth with the customer to get them exactly what they'd like. Etsy's algorithm doesn't understand that nuisance and so puts a red flag on their account when they don't ship out at their usual shipping time, due to this customer email dialogue. Being a hand-made seller on Etsy is, tbh, rough. The website policies greatly benefit POD sellers, but they are increasingly hurting hand-made sellers.
I'd recommend setting up each print as a product template in Printify, and then doing a manual order for it for the customer: it will take about 2 minutes!
Sarah, thank you for all the value. When you sell the split photos/ multiple posters, is it only on digital files or how do you arrange it on Printify when creating the product for Etsy? Thanks again!
Hi Sarah, love the video. I've been wondering though. With Canva, doesn't it only save the images as 72ppi? Is there any way to have a high definition high quality image using Canva that someone could print on something like 24" x 36" or bigger that would look crisp?
Canva by default isn't 72DPI, it is 96DPI, but yes, it does by default save in low resolution, so you'll want to use my techniques for increasing resolution here: ruclips.net/video/nch2NObpZSg/видео.html
Hi Sarah, I really enjoy your videos. On this video you do a lot of technical stuff with Canva. I do have the free version of Canva. Since I am on a limited income and budget would I be able to accomplish what you did with your Kia bird or a similiar piece of art? Thanks Sarah
You actually could, the advanced editing is available in all versions - so you could, as long as you saved it as a PDF. If you save it as a PNG, it won't save in high resolution with a free account. I recommend also watching this video here: ruclips.net/video/nch2NObpZSg/видео.html
I’m wondering if printify would allow u to upload 2 items for 1 listing. Ie 2 canvases. Then u could split up a pic on canvas..?? Also, have u heard about the issues w Canva for POD specifically not allowing sublicensing? Is that an issue??
1) I don't know if you can do that, but you can create different individual wall prints as product templates, and do quick 2-minute manual orders when a customer orders them to combine them together. 2) There are no issues. For one thing, Canva allows their elements to be used in POD products, both clarified via social media & via their terms of service. And secondly, the images I used were not "Canva's" per-say. They are free images that Canva has included in their app, but that they don't actually own. I used images with a CC0 license. My latest video discusses it. I highly recommend watching it. It sounds confusing, but my video should honestly make it really simple to understand! ruclips.net/video/IC1GFXiJK7A/видео.html
@@WholesaleTed tnx for ur reply!! oh good point about this images not actually being canvas. Never thought about that. Also, how would one do a manual order to combine orders?? Do u possibly have a vid on that??
great video thanks a lot, but i have a question, how my product will got viral on etsy. there are thousands products and does keyword and description matter ? any of your video have that in details?
Good idea but hard to make sales. A lot of these people are pioneers in their subjects. Hence the big payouts. But unless you add something unique or a big wow factor. Good luck.
These people were pioneers with these products. My video is not suggesting to copy their products. It's showing that free photos can be used to create great products, so that people can be inspired to be pioneers in other niches and see that they can turn their product ideas into a reality on a low-startup budget 🙏
I do modify the photos I use, and I modified the photos I used inside of this video too. Please watch the video fully through without skipping over any sections!
This is exciting but your figures and mine (from Everbee) are way off. I'm seeing that LilaxLola made nothing this month on the image you showed, and only 90 sales in total for that image. Why is Everbee showing a completely different amount?
Hi Ted I have been a photographer for decades. I have some many prized photos of various animals, birds, statues, etc., that I have never marketed. Rather than use photos uploaded from other platforms, can I use my own original collection? Will the process be the same? If not, what's the procedure? Please assist. Thanks for all your great information 😊
Hello Sara, I’m so thankfull for your video its enlighten me to open a new shop on etsy, but I still feel worry if I open a new store and my listing contain photography from public domain (which mean it is not my own art and its not handmade too). Do you think that etsy will allow me to sell them and they wont suspen or ban my shop? I hope i get accurate answer. Thank you!
Just curious, did you change the pictures enough to consider it your own design? I’m worried about copyright issues. I love designing, but do you have any guidelines?
I didn't "leave it out" - it just wasn't the topic of the video. The topic of the video is how to design popular wall art in Canva: not a step-by-step tutorial on what Print On Demand is, or Printify. If I included a POD tutorial in ever video I did, people would get bored! That is why my videos are usually each on specific topics 🙏
I stay in India and I am not able to set up a payment gateway for collecting international payments. I had to close down my shopify store for this reason. What is the method of collecting international payments on Etsy. Does Etsy have its own payment gateway.
Haha yeah. It's a good question so I'm not surprised it's been asked twice. NASA has made the choice to place all of their photos into the Public Domain.
Usually not, most Pixabay photos are high res. You can however upscale a photo that isn't using an AI upscaler. I give some free suggestions for this in one of my latest videos: ruclips.net/video/cYOXNI4Gr70/видео.html
Dear serah I'm in Papua New Guinea and it's my dream to be a millionaire in my 20's ... I'm blessed to watch this video please let me know "Is it eligible to get paid in Papua New Guinea?"😊🎉
Thank you for watching! You will have to check the countries list that Etsy allows to register. If Etsy isn't a website available where you live, then I recommend looking at eBay: ruclips.net/video/l_zQ56Cu6qI/видео.html
Hi , i'm from morocco , so to creat account on etsy it's so diffuclt beacause a lot of a account ha been suspend , i want to know if these strategy work on shopify ???
I notice a number of comments to do with using Canva with print on demand. Before jumping in I would strongly advise wider research of the dangers, and what to avoid so as not to risk your business with that. For example, see what the respected Shmmy Morris has to say in his video from a few days ago titled "AVOID Canva For Print on Demand" (his capitalisation - and it is NOT clickbait!)
Canva have been very upfront & transparent with their licensing rules, especially after the drama. They have clarified many times that what their terms of service says, is true. That yes, you can use it for POD, and you get issued a license each time you use a PRO image that allows you to sell it in a new design, as many times as you like onto merch. Each to their own, but I have clarified this directly with Canva many times and have a great relationship with them! Interestingly, Canva recently stopped a lot of their affiliate program in the past week, and so I'm sure a lot of people will stop recommending them and be looking to promote something else that does pay commissions. To stay in the program, you now have to make content about Canva at least once a month. Most RUclipsrs who were in the program do NOT meet that standard and so probably did not get their contract renewed. I'm definitely not saying that this is related to this video you're talking about at all: I'm just expecting a big uptick in "actually, you shouldn't use Canva anymore - use this instead [insert affiliate link]." A lot of RUclipsrs who also didn't get their contracts removed will also now take it as an opportunity to create anti-Canva videos which do get a lot of clicks, without fear of getting kicked out of the affiliate program, haha. For full transparency too, I'm still an affiliate partner with them since, well, I love Canva so I just talk about it all the time. Although also, for full transparency, I recommended & talked about Canva for a LONG time (years?) before they accepted me into the affiliate program.
@@WholesaleTed So are you saying it IS ok to sublicense to a POD company that requires you to do that even though their terms clearly say you can't ("You definitely can’t do these things with any free or Pro Content on Canva: sub-license, ...")? If not then you couldn't use that POD company without violating the agreement. And from Amazon Merch On Demand terms (for example): "... you grant Amazon and its affiliates a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to (1) use, copy, distribute, transmit, make available, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, adapt, modify, translate, reformat and create derivative works of your Submission ... and (2) sublicense these rights ..." Are you absolutely certain that Shimmy has interpreted Canva's correspondence with him wrongly and that Canva would be OK with that (and Amazon too - not much use if the POD company don't accept you had the right to agree to what you agree to wrt to Canva!)
Reach out to Canva and clarify for yourself. I didn't watch the video, but if it's talking about Amazon Merch, I don't think you clarified that. I focus on this channel about building my own POD brand with Printful/Printify, not posting onto Amazon Merch. They might have a weird license issue, you might want to check with Canva specifically about that, although that's not a Canva issue, that's a weird Amazon Merch issue. I terms of this video though, it's irrelevant. Canva doesn't own these images. They are owned by the public. They are CC0 images. You can do with them what you like, Canva doesn't own them.
@@WholesaleTed I would never ask one company if another company was OK with their conditions. I should have been clearer I was commenting on a few people commenting, not the video, and pointing out the importance of proper research and that different youtubers say different things. I expect a lawyer would say to never rely on what people say on the internet and always read the contracts you commit to of both ends properly (in this case Canva's and the POD company's) and check with a lawyer. But one thing I definitely would not do or advise is ask Canva about the requirements of the POD companies terms and whether they require you, for example, to grant rights (such as sublicensing) that you don't have the authorisation to do under Canva's terms. The thing that perhaps most struck me was Canva's responses to Shimmy saying it's fine "if", the "if" referring to the terms of the POD company's (in this example Amazon's POD service), essentially whether they are compatible with theirs. An example where they are incompatible is if they require you to sublicense, where Canva is very clear that you can't. Canva might not care, but the POD company might. And even if today no other POD company has similar terms (I've no idea), tomorrow one might, like if Redbubble update their terms for eg (I haven't read them recently)
I see all these videos of making money that sounds too good to be true ($2,000 a day, $32,457 a month etc)... Me.... I'd just be happy to make about $1,000 per month.
Sarah, I do not have capital, and most of the electronic payment methods are prohibited to us. Can you give me advice? I am Muhannad from Libya. Thank you very much.
There is no more controversy. Canva have come out and clearly stated, that you absolutely 100% are allowed to use them for POD products that you sell: ruclips.net/video/FVR4sIrLdA8/видео.html
And also, to clarify, in this video, I don't even use Canva's elements. I use free photos that have a CC0 license, that Canva doesn't own, and can't assign a license to. Legally, they are publicly owned as they have a CC0 license, no individual can own them, so Canva's element licensing rules are irrelevant anyway. I strongly recommend you also watch my other video I made before this one, that provides context: ruclips.net/video/IC1GFXiJK7A/видео.html

When you register for my ebook, it is immediately emailed to you (it can take up to 15 minutes to show in your emails, however). This is completely free. However, because of your email settings, the email may have landed in an email inbox you weren't expecting (such as Promotions, or Spam). Because of this, everyone that registers for my ebook is sent to a thank-you page, with an instruction video I kindly ask everyone to watch. It's at the very top of the page. If you watch the video, you'll see 2 things: 1) That it starts with a 30-second tutorial showing how to locate my ebook in your emails, if it didn't land in your inbox. The video reiterates the ebook was immediately sent, for free, once you submitted your email, and that it does not cost anything - including $1. I also show a support email to message, if you are still having trouble finding the email that contains the free ebook. You can also email us if you'd like, you can email ted@wholesaleted.com to get a copy of the ebook personally sent to you again, for free 🙏 2) Everyone is then offered an optional $1 7-day trial as a thank-you to my video course not my ebook, my *video course*, The Ecomm Clubhouse. This is NOT my ebook and it is reiterated multiple times that it is NOT my ebook, it is OPTIONAL, you DON'T need to register for it to get my ebook (as it's already been sent to you). 🙏 I kindly ask everyone who registers to please watch the video on the thank-you page. The ebook is free and if everyone watches the first 30-seconds of that video, they will see how to find the email with their free ebook if the email was filtered to a different email folder 🙏

I'll be honest, I don't think that is a fair assessment of this channel. I have multiple videos on this channel which are comparison videos, that compare the different POD websites, and one of the comparison points is exactly that, if you sell on a third party website, you risk being shutdown should you make the wrong mistakes, and that you lack control because the third party websites are in control.. In fact, my course, The Ecomm Clubhouse, spends considerable amount of time laboring that point, which is why it discusses opening up your own store, and building a brand on the side. So I will be honest, but I do not agree with this critique 🙏

I explain it fully in this video: ruclips.net/video/IC1GFXiJK7A/видео.html
The Canva license rules, and Pixabay license rules mean nothing.
Awesome dude! I love the content. 👍
what size of canvas did you use in canva?
Great Video! But are you selling these as printable downloads or POD photos with/without frames? Are more customers purchasing digital downloads instead of the physical product?
I was wondering the same thing. How does one even sell a download?
Thank you so much! Very useful content.
Thanks for the info. I'll do it. I need money after spending all my savings due to my pet's illnesses. Got sick of distemper. :(
I am so sorry to hear that, I hope they are on the mend, it is so upsetting when your pet is sick 🙏
Do you have or would recommend to have more shops on etsy for different purposes? How do you do it? Do you have more than one Etsy Shop?
Thank you For this! As always!
Sorry I can't seem to find your video of how to downlowed pic from pixabay and how to check that it can be used, what is the name of the video.
How do you put a planner in a zip file or do you just leave pages all separate to sell
What size do you use on canva??
The website policies greatly benefit POD sellers, but they are increasingly hurting hand-made sellers.
can i use picture for the print wall
I feel like this was already posted a few months ago. The details practically match up exactly
No, I didn't. But you might be thinking of my video I made 2 weeks ago. It's a precursor to this video: ruclips.net/video/IC1GFXiJK7A/видео.html
How do you print on demand/drop ship with split piece (cut out) art? Printify and other such services don't offer product bundling do they?
How do you set it up on printify, that you can sell a wall art collection of 3 pics for example, like you showed us?
hi thanks, but you never mentioned the size of you canvas, that very important to people just starting
So we can't use the photos from canva?
Totally unrelated but Sarah did you voice Omega in Star Wars Bad Batch?
I wish! Haha.
I love your videos Sarah! I need to get started!
okay great...but pixabays license prohibits selling without modification?
I do modify the photos I use, and I modified the photos I used inside of this video too. Please watch the video fully through without skipping over any sections!
I really like the New Zealand accent :)
This is exciting but your figures and mine (from Everbee) are way off. I'm seeing that LilaxLola made nothing this month on the image you showed, and only 90 sales in total for that image. Why is Everbee showing a completely different amount?
Well done Sarah, another video full of inspirational knowledge.
Hi do you recommend any marketing agencies that run FB ads for pod stores?
Hi Ted
I have been a photographer for decades.
How to download as JPG, PDF PRINT, OR PNG ?
I subscribed but I didn't receive any free ebook.
How can I search for older images? They only come out to me until 2010. Thanks
The best way to search for Public Domain images on Pixabay is to use an external search engine like this: free-images.com/
@@WholesaleTed Thanks
Madam excellent you and your mind can you please tell me dimensions you have taken in canvas I am beginner pls reply
😊😊😊😍😍😍 amazing video
I can not download the pdf book . what is the reason?I can not understand Please send the ebook.
You can always email us at ted@wholesaleted.com if you're having issues downloading it, we will send you a copy!
You left out the part about going to Printify and getting a poster or canvas to have the artwork printed on!
Please Reply,
In regards to the James Webb collection….won’t there be copyright issues?
Just saw someone else asked this question.
Haha yeah. It's a good question so I'm not surprised it's been asked twice. NASA has made the choice to place all of their photos into the Public Domain.
Are the Webb telescope photos not copyrighted?
NASA made the decision to put their photos in the public domain and to waive their copyright
@@WholesaleTed Wow! Thank you !
That, and they are tax payer funded so they have no claim, it's in public domain.
Thanks for being awesome Sarah
Do you need to upscale these pics and if so how can this be done?
Usually not, most Pixabay photos are high res. You can however upscale a photo that isn't using an AI upscaler. I give some free suggestions for this in one of my latest videos: ruclips.net/video/cYOXNI4Gr70/видео.html
@@WholesaleTed Thanks for that.
And from Amazon Merch On Demand terms (for example): "... you grant Amazon and its affiliates a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to (1) use, copy, distribute, transmit, make available, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, adapt, modify, translate, reformat and create derivative works of your Submission ... and (2) sublicense these rights ..."
Are you absolutely certain that Shimmy has interpreted Canva's correspondence with him wrongly and that Canva would be OK with that (and Amazon too - not much use if the POD company don't accept you had the right to agree to what you agree to wrt to Canva!)
Me.... I'd just be happy to make about $1,000 per month.
... $82,000?? How many months did that takee?
I am unsure. But combined
, that store is estimated though I believe to be doing 5-figures a month, not even in the holiday season.
Sarah, I do not have capital, and most of the electronic payment methods are prohibited to us. Can you give me advice? I am Muhannad from Libya. Thank you very much.
Etsy is not available in my region, how can I do all this without it?
Ebay is usually the alternative I recommend: ruclips.net/video/l_zQ56Cu6qI/видео.html
I'm subbed, I've hit like, I shared with friends on Discord, this is simple! I love it! Mauruuru koe! 🔥❤️🍀✨️
Where do you stand on the recent controversy with Canva not being able to fully explain the legality of using their elements and other graphics?
Etsy didnt work for me. Unsubscribing.
Hi you said it’s free but $ 1 had to deposit it’s it ? 😮
🙏 I’m sorry, but you are mistaken, my ebook is free and it does not cost $1, it is free. If you watch the video, you'll see 2 things:
1) That it starts with a 30-second tutorial showing how to locate my ebook in your emails, if it didn't land in your inbox. The video reiterates the ebook was immediately sent, for free, once you submitted your email, and that it does not cost anything - including $1. I also show a support email to message, if you are still having trouble finding the email that contains the free ebook. You can also email us if you'd like, you can email ted@wholesaleted.com to get a copy of the ebook personally sent to you again, for free 🙏
2) Everyone is then offered an optional $1 7-day trial as a thank-you to my video course not my ebook, my *video course*, The Ecomm Clubhouse. This is NOT my ebook and it is reiterated multiple times that it is NOT my ebook, it is OPTIONAL, you DON'T need to register for it to get my ebook (as it's already been sent to you). 🙏
I kindly ask everyone who registers to please watch the video on the thank-you page. The ebook is free and if everyone watches the first 30-seconds of that video, they will see how to find the email with their free ebook if the email was filtered to a different email folder 🙏

hello, can you please talk about about other ways to earn money than etsy? Every video is about etsy😞
I really like you Sarah, but you say NOTHING a bout the risk of being shut down by Esty and losing all you work and income.
