By far the clearest explan ation I have seen. Going to watch several times to really absorb everything. I am trying to do this with my own art so I hope I can translate this to what I want Thanks
Great video!! Would love to see a video on sizing different designs for different print on demand products. Like if you want to offer a design as wall art, then use that same design and offer it on mugs, t-shirts, etc. loving all your vids and appreciate your hard work Sandra! ❤️
When you’re making multiple aspect rations with AI art how are you keeping the same proportions or making them the same in the different ARs? Are you just making the largest one and cropping it out different?
OMG! I'm so happy to see you back! I haven't watched the video yet, but only because I was so thrilled to see you pop up on my feed! 😃I hope all is well and just wanted to say again...Congratulations!! I missed you and I'm glad you are back. But I also understand how happy you must be too, okay, going to watch the video now🤣
Hi Sandra, thank you so much for this video. I was confused with all these sizes. However, I am still unsure about one thing - do you create 5 projects separately to make the biggest size of each ratio? or is there a way of creating a project only once and resizing it to all ratios after? I hope I am not being too silly. Thank you in advance, your videos are great x
Sandra I am loving your videos. I would also like to say that this one was exceptional. your instruction was given a lot slower than other videos that I found hard to follow as you spoke quickly. LOL that is the senior in me talking. Now onto the next one. I hope to soon be able to sell some art and photos.
I'm so glad you found this one helpful! Haha I know I talk super fast in other videos, I get told that a lot 🤣 trying to do better. Thanks for the feedback! ❤️
This was so helpful! I do have a question, however. I am creating images using mid journey. And when I find one I really like and I’ve chosen an aspect ratio. How do I change the aspect ratio without changing the image?
Thank you for your helpful teachings! ‘Researching demand’ question- Is there a way on Etsy to see how many results for a specific product search. Maybe Etsy changed how they display the number, because I can only see Etsy number as “1,000+ results”. Hope this makes sense and thank you again for your videos!!! You make overwhelming information become easily understandable and how you add screenshots while you talk is incredibly helpful.
Hi Sandra, first of all, your explanatory video is the best I've seen and listened to. Question about dimensions: all the photos I offer are square, I would love to know how to define and present them to customers in terms of ratio. thanks
Hi there! Thank you for your advice! I have a question and I would be grateful if you can answer me: Do you create your art for ex. in Illustrator and choose CMYK color and set the document in the highest inches dimensions that you were talking about in the video? And at the end you export as a JPG file? I have a problem setting the document in the correct dimensions, color mode and export file type :(
What is the best way to enhance and resize vintage art to sell on Etsy as either printable or physical prints? I only have a laptop to work with. Thank you!
I really value the content that you continue to post. I following you so I don't miss a thing. Do you do any mentoring or coaching for someone launching a digital Etsy shop with POD? Thank you for all your hard work, your willingness to share, and your professional approach.
Thanks so much! This is so helpful. Can you tell me how you go about doing landscape ratios? Can I just reverse the size? For example a 24" x 36" change to 36" x 24". Would they then be able to use that as a 3:2 ratio (As opposed to a 2:3 portrait) and print in various sizes under that ratio? I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thank you so much for that great video! I have 1 question regarding the file format you choose. I was initially thinking of using PDF files for my work due to the fact that nothing can be edited in a PDF. Do you have any concerns when sending a JPG that your work might be altered?
Hello Sandra. I hope you have time to answer this question. I have a pic that is best shown in landscape form. I was on Canva saving 2:3 ratio at 24in x 36in. I didn't like the Portrait mode, therefore changed to landscape mode. Of course, that changes the dimensions to 36x24. I'm guessing that will negatively impact the smaller sizes within the 2:3 ratio. Do you recommend sticking with the Portrait size instead? This will be sold on Etsy. Thank you!!!
@SandraDi I have learned so much from your tutorials. I was wondering about something..When you design your wall art etc.. what size do you start with? To print I know it has to be the largest ratio sizes. Maybe I missed where you go over that. I think that is where I have been stumbling, I need 300 dpi at each ratio so if I design at say 20x30 inches 300 dpi... I don't know where to go from there.Feels like a piece of the puzzle is missing.I am so confused. Thank you.
So you don’t have the ISO A2 etc to offer? I just wonder why? Or is it that they are similar to other ones? Also I want to ask you, do you offer the posters with the white border or not?
This was excellent! Thanks for sharing :) Could you possibly show the process for generating your 5 different file formats? Is that something you do in Canva or Photoshop?
Yes absolutely!! If I'm saving PDF files in Canva, I just go to the "Resize" feature on the top left and make another file in a different size, and then save that one. Sometimes I use Kittl (another software) if I'm saving JPG files. You would just go to Settings in the top right, Resize, and save. I have a few videos showing how to do that but I can definitely create a new one!
Sandra, thank you for all your videos, I just discovered you and I'm sooo in love with them. Question: I have like a zillion of my own photos I would like to use, do you know a way to enhance them with Ai and do you think they will be a good hit selling them on Etsy?
Very helpful! Thank you. I don have a question about sizing within design platforms themselves. I use Kittl and I have found that when it comes to downloading a finished project in the sizes I want, the numbers change as I type them in. So, for example, if I put in the dimensions for an A3 print, when I type in 11.7" x 16.5", Kittl changes the sizing to 13.2" x 16.5"; are you able to explain why this happens? Does it affect the ratio? Will the downloaded version look Ok to the customer when they print it? P.S Do you have a Discord channel?
If i purchased from you id use paint or something to size it down but how do you typically explain it to the customer when they're hoping for a smaller size. Does the company printing for them size it down for them or how do you recommend non tech savy customers size down when they get the big file?
hi, thank you for this video. I have a question: I tried to convert the printable pdf file to jpg in the program you recommended but I can't upload the files due to the large size of the pdf files. Do you know maybe how to solve this so that the final files have good quality?
I’m still having trouble on the technical part of it. When creating new projects for wall art what setting do you use? What aspect ratio when generating images? When I try to fill different artboard sizes with the image it always cuts off part of the image no matter what and depending on the size the images are not consistent.
Hi! Do I need to flatten my pdfs for printing if I am going to upload them to my Etsy shop as digital/printable art? I don't see it in my notes about this lol. Thank you!
Thank you for explaining this in details, but simple and quickly. I do have two questions. When you create a PDF file, how are you able to click the link that you want to share, but it is on a PDF document? I have tired this, but it is frozen and not allowing me to click the link itself. Is there something I need to do before being able to access the link on a PDF file? On a word document I am able to access the link, but ideally I would want to offer a PDF file than a Word file. Second question: I have created art in Canva in different ratios and then converted into either a 300 or 600dpi JPEG file for better quality of the art. However, then wanting to check the size of the finished file it then appear not to be the exact measurement in inch as I created in Canva. I am not sure if I understand this correctly, but when looking at the properties of the file, details, image then measurements of width and height is it measured in pixel and not inches? Or is that inches (I usually use metrics, so not sure on measuring in inches. Crating a file in Canva let's say 18 by 34 inch it would create this exact size, is that correct? I am trying to understand this better. What is your recommendations? Sorry a bit wordy questions, not as smooth as you. :) Many thanks for your brilliant explanations and time!
I only have one question. When it comes to sizes. So what if they want to use the picture as horizontal but I only done vertical image ratios? Can they still use the pictures as horizontal?
The Ebook helps you niche down to any type of digital product you want to sell :). It could be templates, worksheets, clipart, you name it. I hope that helps!
Hi Sandra! And congrats on the baby! I had a question on colors. What do you save yours in? RGB or CMYK? I know for printing it's supposed to be CMYK but I sell clipart and have become so paranoid that I sell my images in both CMYK & RGB. Time consuming but worth it if I should keep doing it. Should I just be selling CMYK for everything?
Aww thank you so much!! In my opinion, RGB is best since clipart is for digital use. I typically only use CMYK for my printables. I hope that helps! Another way that you can get piece of mind is purchase one of your really successful competitors clipart listings and look at the properties to see what they save it as!
@@SandraDi I've looked and most everyone discloses PNG or SVG but not the RGB info. Very few do when I finally nab one. 😆 I think I get panicked because I want everyone to be satisfied for whatever they need to use them for. Thank you!
Hey Sandra I love your videos 😃 I want to create planners on etsy and I struggle with finding a 'gap in the market' because it's such a saturated niche. I've watched lots of videos on this and still struggle. Any suggestions ??
Yes absolutely! You will have to use a keyword research tool for this (like Marmalead, Alura, Sale Samurai, etc) but through my research, I found ADHD planners and cleaning checklists to have low competition. I used Marmalead and Alura to get these ideas!
Hi there, I'm a total newbie and not the best with computers but I have a question. When I download different size files 2:33:44:5 for instance from Kittl to my computer so I can then upload them to my ETSY listing will the images all be correct or do I have to edit them to make them all look the same. The reason I ask is because when I double check them before uploading them they look set out differently. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Love the channel by the way Sandra and have learnt a lot from you.
I'm so glad you're finding my channel helpful! Yes in Kittl you have to resize your artwork when you change the size of the artboard. I hope that helps!
Hello Sandra, could you please send me a link to your Etsy shop? I would like to see a live example of a successful shop and learn more about how you organize your shop, the theme, and the color palette you are using to make it attractive. Thank you.
Sandra, great video and thank you for the free download. I have a question about another digital platform outside of Etsy. You mentioned selling via another platform once before but I don't remember the name of it. If you want to link the video in your response or just name the site that would be great.
Hi there! Are you referring to Koji maybe? Unfortunately they shut down and are now assumed by Linktree! Otherwise I have videos showing how to sell on Amazon as well :)
@@SandraDi yes, that's the name. Amzn has a digital file selling section? Basically what I have is a wine label set. 4 labels to a sheet in pdf format. They are naughty so I don't want to mix them with my everyday mainstream offerings.
Hi Sandra, when I use Kittl to create my images I am having trouble to download the image in any other size than 16x20 inches, for example when I want to download it in 18x24 inches it just changes to 22.5 inches automatically, is it not possible to do this in Kittl?
If my artwork is just a black line design, do I leave the background transparent so it can be printed on any color paper, or do I need to put in a background?
Hi! Those would be the A1, A2, etc sizes. If you Google "ISO sizes" you will see the list of them! Some shops offer them so you can definitely include them. I never have and haven't gotten a request for those so thats just my experience :)
Nice Video! Just one thing I'm struggling to fix, wonder if you or anyone can help please. I download my file in Canva using PDF Print then change it to CMYK. I then convert the file to JPG similar process to what was shown in the video but when I check the properties it says that the file is in RGB. How do I fix this?
Hello, with regard to printing options, where are the best printing services outlets? In the UK for instance, you can print in store at Boots, but they only offer 4" x 6"; 5" x 7" and 8" x 10." Where can people go to be able to print the full range of available sizes?
@@SandraDi Maybe worth noting that here in the UK, many frame stockists have a wide selection of A4 and A3 frames. I'll add these sizes to my options as well.
I clicked on your link for the class Find and Validate your Niche on Etsy but it just takes me to ad pages to sign up for an account for creative fabrica and there is no video.

Thank you.
Not that it will stop someone from copying your images but do you allow your images to be used for POD, etc? Or do you say print only? Thanks
I have a copyright notice that says personal use only :)
Clear explanation that's what I needed!! Thanks:)
so clear and concise, thank you!
They are naughty so I don't want to mix them with my everyday mainstream offerings.
would I have to create it separately in all the different sizes?
Hi Sandra, when I use Kittl to create my images I am having trouble to download the image in any other size than 16x20 inches, for example when I want to download it in 18x24 inches it just changes to 22.5 inches automatically, is it not possible to do this in Kittl?
As a newbie, i would appreciate if you could explain the best mockups website for my etsy products since certain website need to pay
Absolutely! You could try Pexels and Raw Pixel but I'll definitely create a video on this. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks so much for making this video!
You're welcome!! Hope it was helpful! 🥰
the challenge can be producing a large enough file for the larger size posters like 16" x 20". Do you have to use PDF for these large sizes?
No you can provide JPG as well! I offer JPG in large sizes personally :)
I love the idea, but what is stopping someone from redistributing the file once they have it? Even if not for profit?
omg THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If my artwork is just a black line design, do I leave the background transparent so it can be printed on any color paper, or do I need to put in a background?
That is totally up to you! It depends on how you want your customers to use your line art :)
Just asking...its mean 1 ratio for 1 picture? Can u explain...sorry im newbie
Nice, thanks. And which resolution of a render should be used? 1024, 2048, 4096,...?
@@judilynn9569 Thanks.
I save all my files to 300 dpi! :) hope that helps?
@@SandraDi I just found the settings in Gimp to change the dpi. 😊 This will help me, thanks.
Is there a video how to create the design and the PDF with kittl?
Hey Sandra. I'm kind of confused about the ISO sizes that I see people doing. Does the 5x7 size cover those?
Hi! Those would be the A1, A2, etc sizes. If you Google "ISO sizes" you will see the list of them! Some shops offer them so you can definitely include them. I never have and haven't gotten a request for those so thats just my experience :)
Thanks Sandra
Nice Video! Just one thing I'm struggling to fix, wonder if you or anyone can help please. I download my file in Canva using PDF Print then change it to CMYK. I then convert the file to JPG similar process to what was shown in the video but when I check the properties it says that the file is in RGB. How do I fix this?
I also tried using Photopea to change color mode to CMYK but when I check the properties of the exported image it still says RGB. This is frustrating!
I notice all the places I've gone to doesn't offer all the sizes from each ratio for wall prints, any suggestions?
Do we need to make a new ratio page for landscape images (so instead of 3:4 for portrait, it would be 4:3)?
Yes I would! Especially if you want more of the image to show in the horizontal direction
Hello, with regard to printing options, where are the best printing services outlets? In the UK for instance, you can print in store at Boots, but they only offer 4" x 6"; 5" x 7" and 8" x 10." Where can people go to be able to print the full range of available sizes?
The main ones I mention in my listings are Walgreens, Staples, The Printing House, and Vista print! There are so many others as well of course :)
@@SandraDi thanks for the feedback.
