    Joyo also makes solid state amp in a box preamp pedals, as well as the R series amp box. Some of them also cover the sounds of their BanTamps, and with a full EQ and a voicing morph knob... I mean, I run a Precision Drive into a Joyo Oxford Sound, into the front of a Meteor II amp, with a GFS power tube pedal and Behringer FBQ800 in the FX loop. Sounds dope. I also have a Jackman II, which I run a dimed TC Electronic Eyemaster in front of, with an A/B/Y for a layered/stereo rig. You can do a LOT with very little. Both at once is LOUD.

    • @needsLITHIUM

      Also of note, I'm running both through a 1x12 cab, and I have my pedalboard setup for both amps. I use an old radio shack splitter in the channel switcher jack so that one channel switcher button can switch both amps at once. The whole setup is VERY small.

    The real advantage of having this pedal, as I see things, would be if you want 1) an ampless pedal board; 2) something compact with an effects loop so you can use all your favorite analog pedals; 3) something that is simple to use where you don’t have to program patches; and 4) something that gives you that genuine tube sound and feel with zero latency. So if this is what you want and you can’t afford $10,000 worth of three classic amps right now, then I say rip it !!!

    The BluGuitar Amp1 iridium nailed this pedalboard amp. If I didn’t have such an addictive obsessive personality I would have just run the Iridium and an hx stomp as my pedalboard forever. Instead I can thank these things that became a gateway drug for having tube amps and a quad cortex. The hx stomp 4 cable method> Iridium> Harley Benton 2x12 cab is a great rig for people who are just getting their feet wet with being loud. Or just an hx stomp into a orange pedal baby which is the power amp I use for my quad cortex. Try the black star one next?

    The single preamp tube behind the little illuminated window is a glaring warning sign. I’m not saying that tube doesn’t get used in the actual circuit, but it probably is more of a marketing gimmick. Consumer beware: You can’t achieve a high-gain distortion sound with only a single tube unless the circuit also uses transistor or op amp gain stages, and/or clipping diodes. The clean channel sounds like it might not use the tube at all. So, at best, I would consider this device to be a hybrid, and not a tube-based preamp.

      My Preamp Live died - it blew some capacitors so I have no output on the xlr, 1/4, or headphone out but everything else works...
      This is not an uncommon thing, and I would say skip it. It lasted about 2 years or so, and Mooer didn't want to know about it (even after I sent it back to them in China at their suggestion and my expense, it was sent back to me unopened).
      Having said that, it was a great unit. I'd captured my HT-Dual into it and that was my main sound. I build pedals too, so I'll have a crack at replacing those blown caps some day.

    For this unit, the SLO section needs an external boost or overdrive to sound like anything worthwhile. The Plexi section is great, and the clean channel needs a compressor. For what it does, it's pretty cool, and the built-in cab is also really good. Is it worth $400? I'm going to go with no. A Hughes & Kettner Ampman is the same price. If I'm just getting a preamp or a boost or whatever, the Revv Northern Mauler or AllPedal Devil's Triad are both more worth it, as would getting a hybrid amp from Orange or Joyo and running a solid state preamp pedal.

    dude, can I ask a non related to this device question? Been talking recently to some jazz guitar player, he saw how I play and said that I hit notes too hard, so I always go sharp and therefore need to tune guitar to attack instead of stable sustain tone. My hearing isn`t that precise but he has absolute ear and said the way I play with others makes me out of tune. What`s your approach in tuning?

    • @skaldlouiscyphre2453
      @skaldlouiscyphre2453 Год назад +1

      When you tune, do you hit the strings like you're playing normally or are you more delicate?
      If you're more gentle when you're tuning you'll be out of tune while you play.

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  Год назад +1

      Yes, tune to the attack if you play hard. And when you are tuning, don't let your notes ring out, keep picking them so you tuner gets a constant reading of the attack of the note. The information you received sounds accurate.

    I bought this thing without watching any reviews or anything. I wanted a sleek pedalboard amp with an effects loop and a headphone jack that had a high T (lead) channel and a clean channel. Not really into Marshalls or cab sim so the crunch channel and cab sim weren't even included in the decision to buy. Funnily enough I only like the crunch channel. Clean is ok, kinda weird, but I think it could be a unique sound to pull out every once in awhile. At least it came with Wall of Sound which I'm starting to get into and 100 free IRs and I "only" paid $345. Probably just fuck with it for another month and try to sell it for 275-300. Price you pay for not watching reviews I guess
    Got a bantamp instead even though the form factor isn't what I wanted. It's really ugly lol, but I'm pretty happy with it. The first time I played the lead channel I got a instant smile on my face after coming from the revolt. Still looking for something else though. Thinking about recasing the bantamp into a pedal box that sits flat (no dumb feet and no dumb handle) and just having the tube stick out the top of it 🤷🏼

    I mean, a Joyo Blue Jay with a cheap digital modeler like Vox Stomplab/Valvenergy, Zoom G1X Four, or Valeton GP100, or any distortion/preamp pedal would probably be cheaper and sound better. A Hughes & Kettner Stompman or Valeton TAR-20G would also do the trick. Pair with a Friedman BE-OD, Soldano SLO pedal, Northern Mauler, Boss MT-2, TC Electronic Eyemaster/Fangs, Joyo Oxford Sound/California Sound/British Sound, Mooer Preamp, etc, if you don't want a digital unit... and if you need more juice, just get a rack power amp that accepts XLR and a DI box in the FX loop (or just an XLR cable if you get something with an XLR direct out). All of these options would be cheaper or roughly the same price, and offer a better sound. Some of the other reviews I've seen make this thing seem better than it is. Glad you pointed out some of the flaws.

    This pedal has agreat full out Hot Roded Marshall Plexi vibe on the crunch channel, but I find i need outboard eq/boost and Cab M+ to get where I need it. Dynamics are lacking for sure when you back off the volume knob. I havent had much luck with the clean or lead channel. It's basically a one trick pony for me. Taylor - you're a dunce and have missed the point of this ReVolt :) It's not a gig worthy device and not good enough for recording either. Neither is a $2000 Line 6 Helix imo. Revolt is not marketed as either a gigging, or recording device. It's $399. I got mine as a half price demo for 2 purposes only.....
    a) small/light/cheap emergency gig back up if one of my tube amp dies on stage.
    b) home practice as a clean pedal platform plugged into an analog pedal board, Fryette Power Station and real cabs.
    Many owners will never use the IRs, never use midi and never record with it. For a) and b) ReVolt sounds decent and is good value for $$ imo. If ReVolt had any effects I would not have been interested cos already have better effects than any modeler (except Axe-FX).
    If ReVolt had any a-d-a conversions I would not have been interested and most analog guys try to avoid that wherever possible. 3 different preamps is more than enough for a) and b). None are great but no worse than the stock (untweaked) patches on the modelers you probably love. It's $399 not $2000. You've totally missed the point of it.

    Two notes usually does excellent products, this one was a bad drop in their line up. I was waiting for this one for a long time, but when I got it was pure deception. Only channel that is usable is the Crunch, but only with the boost off. This boost is horrible on all channels. it makes the sound very treble and thin, unplayable. The lead channel sounds like there is a Fuzz pedal on all the time, and not matter what, you cant get rid off it. Clean channels is decent, but don'ts press the boost on though. Overall, there is lots of better things out there for the money. I sent my back in a week, after trying everything to make it sound good, but no success.

      I really liked the crunch channel also, and felt the same way about the lead channel. Odd choices for a pedal in this price tier.

    I've heard this before, your demo was probably the best but it's very underwhelming.
    Anything from Lichtlaerm,This Heavy Earth and Master Effects would be better and cheaper.

      I'd say the tube is novel, but I know that vox had a similar pedal (except with fx and more amp models)... so it's not even that much of a novelty. 🤷‍♂️

    I am not a fan of slapping a tube in a device and lighting it up with an LED to make it appear as if it is doing something it is not. It could be a great device but that trick is old and trying to dupe people is just not cool. I am sure it is in the circuit but it isn’t doing anything solid state wouldn’t do when used this way.

    Looks like TwoNotes got everything wrong with this, from the delayed production to the complete lack of information for months, to their eventual demos that completely missed the mark (check out the "metal" one by a guy who has no idea what metal is...), and eventually coming out with a half-baked product that, let's be honest, sounds like arse in most demos. Come on TwoNotes, that boost sounds like a distorted ring modulator! 🤣

      I haven't listened to any other demos, but I was hoping maybe it was just my experience. I completely forgot to mention the delay! I ordered this the day it was announced and totally forgot about it until I got an email saying it was on it's way!

    man the first non commercial just the truth review about that thing here, just great! i think it has just too many better competitors right now with more features for same amount of money like the victory stuff for example. the sound is not too bad at all and the tube more marketing but it does not sound like a soldano or something like that, its unique i think, piece 🦾🦾

      I agree. It makes me wonder about the one that Vox released a while back, since it was a similar design philosophy, just with more effects and features.
