Hola , amigo : I guess they can do it with " Midnight blue " ( 1979 ) , too : ruclips.net/video/f38qG3Aeb-A/видео.html A precious and immortal song, recorded at Musicland Studios ( Munich, Germany ), owned by the Italian musician and producer Giorgio Moroder. You can see the influence of Beethoven, Bach, Wagner and Johann Strauss, in addition to that rich mix of styles, ranging from the doo wop of The Platters and The Chordettes, for example, through the sound and heritage of The Beatles, until the disco style, represented by Barry White, Van McCoy, The Bee Gees, Donna Summer (who also recorded in the same studios, like Queen, Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and many other greats) and others.
There is a touch of Viennese waltz as a whole ( The theme itself is a waltz, but with a slower rhythm ), an iota of bolero, as well as blues, swing and the aforementioned doo wop (The influence of African music it's undeniable - I think.) All a bitterness that makes this beautiful ballad, an ethereal song and without equal. In its part of strings and choral arrangements, Jeff Lynne, its composer and main voice, Richard Tandy, keyboardist of E.L.O. and Louis Clark ( R.I.P. .), who conducted the orchestra. Kelly Groucutt ( R.I.P. ), bassist for E.L.O. , was his second voice and part of the choirs, too. Among many other details, it is worth mentioning that this song used the synthesizer, recently launched on the market at that time, the Yamaha CS-80, the same one with which he created immortal melodies, the Greek musician Vangelis; and sound engineer Reinhold Mack (who was very close, in his work, to Queen), used Sennheiser microphones, placed at different distances, in order to create a magnificent surround sound environment, similar to that of the interior of a cathedral. This is very evident, in two other ballads present in the album "Discovery" (1979), to which this song belongs, "Need her love" (With a strong Gregorian chant glaze) and "Confusion" (With a marked accent in Richard Wagner's choral work.) Lyrically speaking, in one of its parts, there is a reference to a verse from the play "Romeo and Juliet" ( William Shakespeare ): It says "... But what's the difference cos' they say what's in a name ..." ( "... But, how much do they look at what is in a surname ...") It is intuited that the song refers to the furtive encounter between two lovers, at the stroke of midnight, in a desolate place, which must end before dawn, so as not to be discovered by those close to them. This song was not made as a single, on either side of the Atlantic, but in Australia. A hug . Greetings from Chile, South America
Mr. Blue Sky has got to be next from these guys. It’s a song that if everyone in the world listened to it at the exact same time, by songs end the entire human race would have a smile on their face and feel happy for a while. Imagine that.
Thanks lovely young ladies, I asked your dad to put this on the list on your live stream and am so glad that you liked it. I had this album on 8-track, my other 2 favorites on this album are called "Do Ya" and "Tightrope" they are also excellent songs to check out, you will also love these songs!

I think this was the second one of theirs I heard. So fun watching you groove to "my music". You ladies are awesome. Keep up the amazing work. ✌️😎👍
I have been a fan of ELO since I first heard them on the radio. Their sound was something different, the mix of rock, pop and orchestral captured me from he very first album they released. They ended up with quite a few hits.
You girls have just opened the door to Nostalgia not only classic rock. This is music from my days and there still some of my favorites. Jeff Lynn has a fantastic and amazing voice, I can't compare him to any one, it's just so unique. After ELO he went on to a group called the Traveling Wilburys with Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and George Harrison. You should check them out as well, when you have time of course.
Welcome aboard, youngsters! I first heard E.L.O. back in 1976, when I was a freshman in High School, here in Los Angeles CA.. E.L.O. is one of my top 7 bands of all time. E.L.O. has over a hundred different songs on all their albums.
Hi ladies! You're hitting on some great music now! I was just about Mia's age when this song came out (God, I feel so old now!). I hope you check out other ELO songs, because they have a lot of hits. Others have given you great suggestions, but "Evil Woman" is probably my favorite. Great reaction! Love ya, ladies!
Listen to any song by ELO and you will be blown away by anything you hear by them. Music made in the past which sounded like it was from the future when it was made in the past. Listening to them now still sounds like they are from the future.

When you start thinking about the time period when this was produced (1976), you suddenly realize that there were very few 'special effects' used and everything was mastered on a 16 track Ampex *TAPE RECORDER!* No digital recorders, no autotune, just pure talent, near perfect harmonies, and timing.😁 Just for fun, you gals should look up every '3 letter' band from the 70's and react to one or 2 songs apiece (i.e. ELP, YES, BTO, ELO, etc etc.) I had a couple 33 1/3 LP albums from ELO back in the day. Great reaction you two!😎👍
It's obvious they have a Dad with not only great taste in music, but also that they were raised extremely well. They are very respectful and have very likable personalities and attitudes. Which is why this channel continues to be one of my favorites!
@@Cosmo-Kramer They are sisters, aged 11 and 17, although both may have already reached their next birthday. And I think their mailing address is in the Los Angeles area, although I could be mistaken.
Good to hear this again it’s been a while for me. Glad you gals enjoyed! I think it was appropriate to have the Beatles shirt on, Juliet as they are pretty similar. Enjoyed all of your observations and analogies and your interpretations, good stuff. And your dual vocals were righteous. :-) Ride that wave!
Trying to leave you this comment AGAIN!!!... I loved your reaction to this song!! This is ELO, and so you really really really need to react to a live performance! I like "Mr. Blue Sky". I suggest 'Jeff Lynne's ELO - Mr. Blue Sky at Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park 2014'. Rock on!!
It's better for a first reaction for them to just listen to the studio recordings. Then, if they love a couple of tracks, do a separate reaction to them live. (And for live performances, nothing beats their show at Wembley Stadium in London, 2017.)
@@Cosmo-Kramer I just watched that. The only bummer is that the video cuts off the end part that contains the conclusion of the song. I did like where that guy was playing the fire extinguisher! lol EDIT: There is a fan-shot video of that performance that includes the ending.

No, the story is this: The record company that was distributing their first album in the US called their UK record company to find out the name of the album and couldn't get a hold of anyone. So the secretary left a note to her bosses that said "No answer", meaning that she had never talked to anyone. So their first album came out in the US as "No Answer". I agree with your song choice, but not your suggestion for a lyrics video. It's a natural tendency to read ahead in lyrics videos, and that disrupts the intended song experience. The lyrics are plenty clear enough in, "Telephone Line", to understand what exactly what the song is talking about.
I will try to be quick whilst comments are still active ,,,! ELO did a lot of great stuff and some, not so good stuff (IMHO) and had some very impressive people involved: starting with Roy Wood (later of Wizzard and solo fame) who can play just about any instrument you can think of, followed by Jeff Lynne (later of Travelling Wilburys and a raft of other stuff). 10538 Overture and Rool Over Beethoven are a couple of my favourites, along with the poppier Mr Blue Sky.
You gotta love the strings in ELO music. They bring great grooving songs with strings and catchy lyrics. Check out Mr Blue Sky, Sweet Talkin woman, Don't bring me down, and Gurn to stone for more ELO bangers.
I remember our family was on vacation stopped in Rawlings Wyoming and did some shopping I wandered into a music store and bought ELO's "New World Record" on 8 track and we listened to it the whole trip in our Ford LTD station wagon.
If you are a fan of Beatles (as your shirt) you will notice Beatles songs open with either a single chord (Hard Days Night) or musical phrase. Jeff Lynne, started ELO to continue the orchestral direction that the Beatles started. He has said, if the Beatles had stayed together, ELO would be the direction the Beatles may have taken.
The violins especially give this song such a large surge of energy when you listen to them. Waves are very strange things because there really isn't any water moving to the shoreline. What people mistake for the movement of water is really "energy", moving to the shoreline, because the water molecules are actually only moving straight up and down. So when people feel like their fighting a body of water, what they fail to understand is they're actually fighting the energy within the water itself. The only water that moves forward is the last wave that hits the shoreline and the only reason why it moves forward is due to the energy within the water. So now extend that metaphorically to a human listening to music. What is a human body mostly made up of?
Another great band that came out of the 70s! Man I remember this one so much! One of my brothers favorite band! That whole album is great!👌😎👍🤟🤘great reaction young ladies! Man I was 13 years old when this song came out!😳boy I’m old!
Jeff produced George Harrison's comeback album Cloud 9 after doing Tom Petty's come back album. He was good friends with Ringo and George and part of the catalist that got the Traveling Wilburys together.

Good pic girls it's great seeing younger people reviewing great music. Keep up the good work and keep learning about how music use to be made.
I'd suggest the following ELO songs: Don't Bring Me Down, Evil Woman, Sweet Talkin Woman & Hold On Tight
Incredible song writer n singer! Many many massive hits, n he also wrote hits for other bands as well. Love them!👍
GROOVY INDEED..YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME..KEEP' EM COMIN;; AND P.S. JEFF LYNNE IS A GENIUS!! ALL MY BEST,KENT IN OHIO.
You gotta love the strings in ELO music. They bring great grooving songs with strings and catchy lyrics. Check out Mr Blue Sky, Sweet Talkin woman, Don't bring me down, and Gurn to stone for more ELO bangers.
Space Ace Frehley from Kiss did a cover of an ELO song "Do Ya" - check out both?
That sound is a mixture of violins, cellos and the orchestra
I think I heard some banjo, too.
@@trhansen3244 That was probably the violin plucking you were hearing.
classic band from the 70's
You will love the ELO song “Telephone Line” which might be their most beautiful song.
Love your t-shirts. This is so cool that you are reacting to such incredible music. Mia I have to say Mia Rush is my favorite band. Rock on girls!
Thank you Tammie! \m/
Concerto for a Rainy Day off of their Out of the Blue album is fantastic.
I remember our family was on vacation stopped in Rawlings Wyoming and did some shopping I wandered into a music store and bought ELO's "New World Record" on 8 track and we listened to it the whole trip in our Ford LTD station wagon.
Lovely reaction to Jeff Lynn, Birmingham's very own Amadeus!!
Al Stewart - Year of the Cat
You can't help but sing along to ELO.
I love it when you 2 sing!
"Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding" Elton John.
Here's a few of my favorites from ELO: Twilight, I'm Alive, Mr. Blue Sky, All Over The World, The Fall, Don't Walk Away......🙂 Good job you two!
What about Telephone Line?
ELO just brings a smile/laugh to your face. Feeling bloue before, you won't be now😀
Jeff Lynne's voice is so cool.......
Jeff Lyne was in The Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. Check them all out. It will be a fun rabbit hole.

Girls Stevie Ray Vaughn!!! VOODOE CHILD and PRIDE AN JOY!!!! MAKE U GALS CRY!!!!!!
Another awesome song by ELO!!! A great band in the day :)
And still is!
There’s so many more great tunes by ELO go down that rabbit hole
yes I have everything they ever did on my spotify playlist. so incredible.
If you are a fan of Beatles (as your shirt) you will notice Beatles songs open with either a single chord (Hard Days Night) or musical phrase. Jeff Lynne, started ELO to continue the orchestral direction that the Beatles started. He has said, if the Beatles had stayed together, ELO would be the direction the Beatles may have taken.
funny how these songs are new to you when they were new to me when they came out -- I feel old lol
LOL!
Anyone who can combine strings and traditional rock music is way up there with me. Been liking them a long time thanks to my dad!! 💗🎻🎶🎧
Another great band that came out of the 70s! Man I remember this one so much! One of my brothers favorite band! That whole album is great!👌😎👍🤟🤘great reaction young ladies! Man I was 13 years old when this song came out!😳boy I’m old!
Your Beatles t-shirt is perfect because ELO was considered sort of continuation of The Beatles after they broke up. The Beatles loved ELO.
Jeff produced George Harrison's comeback album Cloud 9 after doing Tom Petty's come back album. He was good friends with Ringo and George and part of the catalist that got the Traveling Wilburys together.
Jeff Lynne was very influenced by 50s music and you can hear it in a lot of ELO, little snippets of doo wop harmonising etc.
& the Beatles ❤❤❤❤❤
Jeff Lynne, the lead vocalist of ELO, was good friends with John Lennon. "Mr. Blue Sky" was one of the best ELO songs.
ELO is happy music.. Makes you smile... I can't tell you how many girls I've seen laugh during Mr blue sky lol 😆... it's just happy music... and very unique. Great reaction ladies. Thank you. 😊
Jeff Lyne of ELO was producing an album for George Harrison and they formed The Traveling Willburys check them out!
