Wow! I had a similar story with breast cancer. For about 8 years no one took it serious. Finally, a doctor did. It was cancer and very slow growing but it was in my lymph nodes. I am alive because someone finally heard me.

I’ve had many doctors tell me not to worry. That I have anxiety. Things are getting worse. Now my lymph nodes are swollen from my neck and down my arms. It’s painful. :( I’m dizzy and tired a lot. Finally a doctor is listening to me and I’m getting a CT scan in a couple days. It’s infuriating that doctors don’t push for testing when you’re obviously worried about lumps in your throat. -_-

I so appreciate your view on medical treatment. My father recently just had a stroke too, he was effected the same but on his right side. He's such motivation for me because he is so strong and recovering like I never thought was possible just like you, he had his speech and right side mobility so effected and he's worked so hard that he can talk and walk again. It's insane, I didn't even know that was possible if you were hit that hard from a stroke.... Back to the point tho, I am a strong believer in proactive Medical treatment.. do as many scans and tests as you want or the patient wants. The best that can come of that is nothing comes back and you give a ton of more comfortable and confidence to your patient that they are okay health wise.... I feel like too much doctors rely on a condition to be advanced enough for it to be obvious it needs attention when in reality, it's 2021 we have advancements in healthcare and it's just too little that we actually use these tools where we are not catching things any sooner than decades ago healthcare was.... Ya know.... If it was up to me, I would have each individual get a full body MRI/ run down exam with imagery-contrast-blood work-one day I'd love advanced brain scans to see brain health better. But I'd want each person to get one of these done every decade or so to keep a full detailed check on their wellbeing. I feel like that could really streamline health care so we aren't shooting in the dark and guessing off of patients description of symptoms which is never easy to be good at and accurate. Nothing beats good imagery. I hope we advance medical treatment in the very near future....

Same here I had to pretty much damand a blood test (told them I want to check if my blood count is as it should be and I can do my thyroid at the same time) physical examination wasn't even given as an option, trying to discribe a lump in your neck over the phone and having a doctor tell you it's doesn't sound like anything to worry about doesn't really solve anything 🙄
Lost my mum a few years ago doctor told her it was "just a migraine, I have 3 a week just take some paracetamol you'll be fine" she collapsed the next day
Always, always push for an examination or a second opinion if you are unsure, doctors learn from a textbook but you know your own body better than anyone and write down your symptoms before you go to the doctors that way you don't leave anything out

I could not agree more. I have experienced this first hand. I got sick at age 17 in 2004. I remained sick and progressively got worse until age 32 when I self diagnosed, age 34 I was finally officially diagnosed. I was dismissed for SEVENTEEN YEARS. It’s abuse and cruel and despicable. I ended up diagnosed with a quite rare disease due to a small brain tumor called Cyclical Cushings Disease. Drs are so quick to call it anxiety, diet, etc they treated me like I was a nut job!! I am SO ANGRY, and a MOTHER to a 6 year old boy. None of them value our lives. No one outside of you will care as much as YOU about your life. Educate yourself and DEMAND what you need. The only thing Drs have are medical degrees, other than that, they misdiagnose all the time. I had to request a full body CT and a fine needle aspiration in order to find out what is going on with me. My pcp said it was normal because of the small size, I said it was abnormal. I will be my own doctor since I pay more attention to myself and they don't. I have a hard time trusting doctors.

I think part of the problem with being dismissed is being afraid of the insurance companies. Someone in my family has had a lump on their neck and the doctor said they won't order any testing for it unless he has symptoms along with the lump such as fatigue, pain, etc... so that they can justify ordering the test to the insurance company. Notice that in this case, she did not get a test ordered until she had said she was in pain. I am not a doctor, but can ordering too many tests make you lose your license or something? Why such fear in the medical profession regarding testing?

I had a rare kind of heart attack called a SCAD two months ago. I'd had a couple/three small growths under my skin on my upper back, but mentioned them to my brother who is an ER doctor and he said they are probably fat deposits and not to worry. I've been trying to get back to work, attend doctor's visits about my heart, BUT one of the growths outpaced the others and feels like a small hard marble near my spine just below my neck on my back. Another grew from nothing next to my second toe on the side towards my big toe. It grew in two months time. I've got a bad feeling about this. I'm calling to make an appt with a dermatologist and will probably get two needle biopsies. Both are in locations that may be challenging to operate on if need be...
I wish all of you good health. Follow up with your doctors if you think something is wrong. God bless.

I agree with most people what they say on here , one person said God help us 🙏 I think thats all we have left to say when our trust fails with the medical system. I dont want to be sounding too negative but we are just individuals the medics just tick off boxes ,No one uses the person centred or holistic approach to dig futher to find out what really is happening no one wants to work or discover our underlying health issues..The systerm takes so long in the nhs (UK ) for appointments and by the time you're appointment arrives you are mentally exhausted cant even talk to explain your difficult health journey you had . I dont think no one is interested.
The waiting list are over a year... Private Consultants drain every penny you have and only to be told you hsve mental health issues.
I have a lump too waiting for an ultrasound.
Perhaps this lump may answer to why I have been poorly for a number of years otherwise you are not taken seriously.

What’s really sad is the fact that as a patient we r not taken as serious as we need to but the fact is we r our own best doctors n if we r not listened to move on to someone who will. If any doctors who feel they know more than the body’s own red flags maybe u chose the wrong profession as we don’t need them. Everything is not routine !! Who gets to tell her why they’re now going to put all the results blame on the stroke when four years ago probably would’ve been a simple surgery !! I’ve had similar issue n in my neck too. It took me a long time to get treated because it was just a “goiter “ .The only good thing was neck cancers r slow growers but by all means if ur feeling any activity in suspected growths “Red Flag “. n demand a scan !!

I was thinking that same thing about what she said at the end. What type of care are people getting if you don't even treat your own right ?? I have always said that they need to always investigate everyone as if they have cancer and maybe we wouldn't have so many deaths 😔 also everyone should be allowed to have a MRI every year and get a full check up but there again it comes to the all mighty dollar. But not to worry Jehovah God will step in soon and take care of all of this Rev 21:3,4.

I complain and chest pain and all I would get it's my muscle The my Doctor pass away and I started seeing my wife's doctor and he started sending me to specialist. Then this past January I finally got diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis. This is after years now the damage is done to my upper lungs. So I can relate to what you said. I don't take anything just to check. Now I am living in alot of pain . Some days worse than others even with the meds am taking now. It's hard to stay strong but we must try .

I threw my paperwork down jumped off table n stormed out of my doc office 3 weeks ago. I wanted a full body scan. I was paying for it. Insurance said it’s covered. Made apt imaging place said great just bring us referral. Insurance said you don’t need a referal it’s just covered. So only hold up is ALL imaging places require a referal from doctor (except 1 location in vegas and 1 in CA I think) so $ no issue, accessibility no problem, Doc said we don’t let the patients determine the tests. Then went into the damn diatribe of symptoms, checklists, then do 1 scan or test if needed then if that shows something progress to next. I said no I want full blood work up and full body scan then we will go from there because there is something wrong . I haven’t had insurance in 5 years so I haven’t had a mamogram or anything 5 years .. I’m 50 and there is something wrong . My sister had breast cancer at 32, my dad had throat cancer, I smoked from 12yr to 45.. I donno if it’s my lungs I don’t think so but there is something wrong and I don’t want 4 scans or 8 tests.. there is something wrong I’m paying it’s available and I shouldn’t have to explain to you what I just know it means and so what if all comes back good n i have piece of mind. We have never had 1 before it’s low dose radiation then mamogram, lung scan etc . And I pointed to my husband and said we are both going to get one because he is gonna have 1 ordered for his shoulder and knee, we can do the virtual colonoscopy and i think he has something more than acid reflux or ulcer. They did esophagus scope in 2016 and said all clear but there is something wrong. She turned toward me and away from her computer Finally and said .. that’s not gonna happen. I bursted into tears of frustration and stormed out leaving my husband in the room with her. My desperation and pure helplessness exploded . I am NEVER like this ever. I had my husband come because he didn’t understand my anxiety . I said unless I make up shit they will not allow us to have a scan and you need it . He laughed n said yes he wld go he said you know you . If you request a scan insurance is ok or self pay why wld they ever say no. So we went Doc said not a chance I stormed off like the helpless child I felt and waited In car.
He came out to car with a referal for a lung scan, a mammogram and series of back X-rays for me. No neck or head or throat, no chest or underarms .. so more exposure and spotty looks ???
Oh and an appointment for me and him for a physical this last Thursday. It’s been 3,weeks I got my lung scan heard nothing and so pissed I didn’t go.
My husband went the apt was not w doc but w a NP . She found a lump on lymph Node left of center kinda under collar bone.. , what’s that everyone?? Yes stage 4 stomach cancer. Haven’t told anyone. He doesn’t think it’s gonna be bad. He has apt Tue to talk about it. I already know it’s associated with all his other symptoms he has had since 3/4/2016. 4 1/2 years it’s grown. I am doubting he makes it to Xmas I PRAY I’m wrong.. he doesn’t get it I haven’t expressed it to him cause 1st I’m a laymen, 2nd i wanna be wrong and 3 rd he sleeps 12 hours a day been progressive cause he thinks he must have another cold 😥..
And 6 hours ago I found a hard non moving lump pea size half way down and halfway back on my neck. No joke . I can barely move.
