- Many patients come to see me because they are worried they might have throat cancer. Fortunately, most of the time, they don't! This video talks about the symptoms and risk factors for throat cancer.

@@arlint692 Surgery to remove some lymph nodes and a TON of radiation. It was really the radiation. but the radiation was miserably painful and everything tasted horribly salty including water. Drinking water was like eating a spoonful of salt he said - and this happened for a long time. He had to get occasional IV's to stay hydrated because the taste of normal things made him get sick to his stomach.
@@Dana_at_LAX the treatment is not painful at all but afterward your throat is burning and dry and it’s painful to swallow. I am going to have this soon I think. Suddenly I had a lump and massive sore throat and I can’t even open my mouth. Meeting a cancer specialist on Monday. Wish me luck 🍀
My grandma also survived her fourth stage of lung cancer for anyone out there that’s dealing with someone that is sick honestly the best thing you can do is not tell people how sick they are my grandpa wouldn’t let any of us know and he wouldn’t let her know either she thought she was on stage two.. my grandpa was an amazing entrepreneur and had a high level of respect in that area so she trusted him to take control of everything and she survived ♥️, I recommend faking it till you make it sadly I don’t believe that with most things in life but when it comes to being sick you can train your brain to believe you’re not in on top of that the more people that think you’re getting better the more you’re manifesting that positive outcome
Thank you for this. I have just been diagnosed with an "Inclusionary Cyst" in the back of my throat. Surgery in two weeks. Dr. is not panicking, and of course a Biopsy. I am 75, a great life, what shall be shall be.

I'm absolutely scared to death of getting mouth throut or any kind of cancer. I've got to go see a E.N.T specialist soon regarding small round smooth soft flesh coloured bump on one side of my uluva, some sore throat too where my tonsils used to be. Frighting stuff I hate getting old. Please don't let it be cancer.

I have all these symptoms. I just had an endoscopy and he didn't see a lump or tumor, but he did say it's inflamed. But my lymph nodes in my neck are hard. Which I knew already. Going for an ultrasound soon. Thanks for all the information about throat cancer. Oh I just found my birth father (he's deceased) but he had a "mild" throat cancer. Whatever that means. Anyway staying hopeful. :)

What was the result of your sonogram?
I was sent for a biopsy. Four days later I was notified that it’s benign. Prayers answered.

Good info Doc... I was just diagnosed today with a tumor at the base of my tongue after weeks of ear pain & sore throat. Surgery next week will revel the plan moving forward when the results of the biopsy are known.

@@terminatorfan5661 - Ear pain & sore throat that would not go away with no lumps on the neck. Biopsy revealed HPV Positive Squamous Cell Carcinoma at left base of tongue and tonsil with a few lymph nodes involved. 7 weeks of radiation 5 days a week with one day a week of chemo using Cisplatin starting soon. HPV should be looked into if you are not familiar.

@@greydenpiechnickrealestate6928 - Just recently got a clear PET scan after months of chemo and radiation. Turned out to be HPV-16+ tumor. Still need a feeding tube because I can't eat orally . The radiation seems to have caused most of the horrible side effects.

This video does not address a throat *cyst* that turns out to be inert or HPV-only. That seems to be a middle condition between "no cyst" and "cancer".
Yes, you should be because nobody is immune to any cancer. People might think they’re immune to a chronic illness just because they don’t have a family history of that. If that’s ever the case, they wind up finding out the hard way that they made one heck of a serious mistake out of refusal to take precautions!

My friend went to a doctor because she had a lump in her neck. It was small, ayear latterit really grew. Went to another doc, cancer clinic and they said nothing. Neck is 2x the size. 2 years later she has another lump on the other side. She goes to a dentist who said, I can't work on you. Sent her off to a dentist Specialist. Who ended up dealing with her tooth. Also took pictures of the back of her throat. Half an hour later the lady comes into the room to deal with her and apologizes to her that she has cancer. Nadine was like I have what. The lady all in shock she wasn't supposed to say anything.I find these hospitals are no longer working for people. They're just there too make sure you're dying. If hospitals paid sick people I still wouldn't go

I was diagnosed with rhinosinusitis and tonsillitis, they swapped my throat. I have a few swollen lymph nodes and ear ache on one side along with post nasal drip and hoarse voice and it’s been on going for 2 and half months now .. I’m finally gonna see a ENT dr . I just pray it’s a chronic sinus infection and nothing more .. I do not have night sweats or losing weight or trouble swallowing so I can feel a little at ease , but this is super bothersome. Pray for me

May i ask what were your general symptoms? I'm having bouts of difficulty in swallowing and i feel like there's a big lump in my throat. I also feel sometimes that the back of my throat or my nose is filled with fluid. Im scared, we don't have the means to have this treated if i actually do have cancer.

Im tired of going to the dr because I feel as if im scammed everytime. Not once have they actually given me a proper diagnosis within the past 4 years, causing a waste of thousands of dollars of meds/tests which lead to nothing. I have severe sharp throat pain at the base of my throat, a lot of pressure in my ears, and constant fatigue lasting a week now. I have no fever, no congestion, no covid, strep, flu, or mono. The only thing that helps temporarily is 600 mg of ibuprofen and Chloraseptic cough drops. My body isnt fighting whatever is happening and im honestly terrified the pain will continue. I cant really eat or drink very much without severe pain and ive already lost close to 10 lbs. If anyone has any ideas plz let me know. Thanks!
You need an ENT regular drs don’t have the tools to look down your throat correctly
@@joanbaczek2575 turns out the mono test was a false negative, so i do have mono. It was seriously the worst throat pain i have felt, and thankfully its gone now. Just painful lymphs and fatigue are my only remaining symptoms. Thanks for the help!

Yh I'm 16 and I got a slightly sorethroat on the right side and my right ear aches when I gulp and it feels like somethings in my throat sometimes

I've had a sore throat for 3 weeks and a feeling of a narrowing of my breathing pathway, and now a painful lump, but my Dr. looked with a flashlight and said I had a sore throat and also an ear infection and the flu and prescribed amoxicillin. Once off the antibiotic my symptoms returned. I was very surprised Dr. Evans didn't mention esophagal reflux or GERD as a cause too. Maybe I'm worried because I have that and it's not a concern. I've read that it is a concern, so smokers, drinking alcohol, and GERD reflux is a concern too. Maybe Dr Evans said that and I missed it as I'm not that great of a listener.

@@topog4059 Hi Shashank! I had a sore throat for 30 days! They took a CT scan of my throat, which I didn't like because one CT scan is equivalent to 1,500 dental x-rays! I did because I thought maybe I had a serious condition. The scan found nothing, so glad for that. I don't know why the doctor put me through the scan when... I never thought of it exactly then... but I have GERD or esophagal reflux meaning stomach acid comes up my throat. I've had it for many years and never a sore throat from it that I know of. There was no real answer to anything. I just had to think for myself that it was because of stomach acid. The sore throat went away and the antibiotic had no effect on it. A waste of being exposed to a lot of radiation, but sometimes I think doctors like to order, in the USA, expensive scans as it keeps the radiology department going and to pay for their expensive x-ray equipment, the problem with "for profit medicine". I wish USA had national health care, but the big corporations and doctors don't want it. Are you having a sore throat? How are you?
Also have acid coming up in oesophagus but first time it's like a muscle swollen up
@@topog4059 Hi Shashank! As you probably know, our throat has a whole complex of muscles, tendons, ligaments... Does your voice sound unnatural? I wonder if the acid from your stomach can cause inflammation, but... then you'd think it would make a lot more than one muscle or whatever swell. Can you go to an ear, nose, and throat specialist, an "ENT" as we say, that's if you're in like England or USA.
@@mwj5368 i have gone to ent specialist but he gave me amoxilin antibiotics and anti allergens, my voice sounds completely natural but have only pain and feelings of something getting stuck 😐
I haven’t been able to eat and swallow food normally for about 3 years now, a few months after the problem started saw an ent had a barium swallow test done, blood work, mri, and nothing came of it .. still can’t swallow good something isn’t right.. also one thing that is persistent throughout the years is I have a sore throat every morning that goes away pretty quick after waking up.

I was pretty sick with allergies about two weeks ago and during this time I noticed a small bump in the back of my throat. I’m no longer sick, however I still have these bumps in my throat that haven’t gone away in over two weeks! I don’t have any pain and I don’t have any difficulty swallowing but I’m extremely anxious about this. While searching up what it may be I found cobblestone throat. My throat looks like a more extreme version of cobblestone throat bc it’s much more visible and the little bumps are a bit thicker.. I’m so nervous that it may be throat cancer because I read that these sort of bumps can be painless and that the cancer can go unnoticed. For some background info, I’m 17, i don’t smoke or drink alcohol, and there’s no allergies I have that I know of. I don’t eat the healthiest but I do stay somewhat active. Also I’m not sure if it matters but I’m NOT sexually active in any way shape or form. Can anyone give me some sort of comfort bc I really don’t want to die😭
also what’s a bit weird is that I’ve been having these swollen lymph nodes behind my ears for like four years now. I don’t know if there’s any correlation at all but I’ve never gotten this checked out with the doctor bc i assumed it would go away with time or that this was just the way i was built. It’s not painful at all and they haven’t grown in size at all either.
My doctor told my mum she may have throat cancer. We are just waiting for blood results to confirm the final results. I am sad.

I'm worried about it right now. I've had a sore throat and some neck stiffness for a couple weeks now, and when I swallow, it's minorly painful and feels like there's a little lump in my throat. I don't want to die or be disfigured so young.
Exactly the same issue here word for word, plus had hoarse /husky voice, and so started looking on RUclips... makes it more worrying! I’ll be seeing my doc this week for sure. Get yourself to the docs. Best to be checked.

@@AshleeACAmusic turns out it was just technically a wart, a papilloma (wart) and my darling kitty had passed away from bird flu so I believe I had a touch of whatever my darling kitty had and it caused irritation and swelling in my tonsils.

He took one look at it and said it’s not the big C. Of course I questioned it. Not meaning to be rude and he seemed incredulous that I didn’t believe him and restated that it was his professional opinion that it was merely a wart. He said he would cut it off anyway and send it for a biopsy, I agreed. He cut it off, I gagged on his hand, my throat hurt for a week and I didn’t have cancer.. it was indeed a wart.

Hello, I really don't believe I have cancer just wanted to mention I have had this problem too long. Now I have been battling strep for too long, I cry alot from the pain. I have had really sharp pain with knot on side, pain in one ear mainly. Another smaller knot by my ear. Pain covers entire right side of head, tender sore pain on scalp. All this will not go away even taking antibiotics. The pain daily in my throat, is the worst, and like I mentioned, now I hv strep
Went to clinic but they just look at me with a blank look on their face.

i went to the Throat and ear Doctor and the only thing that they found was 2 red spots above the vocal cords but in their eyes it was nothing to be worried about due to that i had the pain for 3-5 months now since the visit to the doctor

My dad has just been told by the Dr that he has a lamp on the throat and they have asked us to do a CTs scan, he has problem with swallowing food even water he has a problem swallowing but for him he is always spitting saliva, he can't even swallow a pill . Hoping for the best.

I got a second Dr to do a nasal endoscopy after being told to just use a steroid nasal spray for the rest of my life (and an "everything is normal" sinus CT) for difficulty breathing through my nose, ear fullness and infections, sinus infections only down my throat my not in my front nasal area, constant sore throat, a feeling of incomplete swallowing, food going ontop of my soft palate, migraines, and stinging sinus facial sensation and hands. The second Dr found "midline there was a pink fleshy mass pedunculated off of the posterior wall of the nasopharynx in the location of the adenoid pad." He said it moves when I speak, so Im sure it's whats making that irritating tongue clicking noise when Im trying to fall asleep. I had mono for a few months as a teen as well as bad cold sores. It is am feeling very anxious. The mass rubs on my swollen salpingo-pharyngeal folds to and grazes the septum and soft palate. I havent seen any pictures like it. 😕
Ahhhh,,,,u sound like me I had MONO. Then during my MONO. I got some flu /throat infection form my husband. Then i just never got better. Exact same situation .. i had nasal pharygreal cancer stage 4. I went thru 8 weeks of rigorous radiation n 3 full rounds of chemo. It was brutal…
Def look up” Doxycycline , VitaminC, cancer”…. Yr post is specially touchy..i went thru that for almost 2 yrs n was stage 4. I was taking pain pills all the time, just got in Denial in the end. Cuz I couldn’t get to the pain spot, no one could fix it.
I had squamous Carcinoma. If ur mess is like on the surface on the wall…its like good sign its highly treatable if doing it early. Apparently the VERY PAINFUL ones actually more treatable, if treat early. They don’t grow their own blood vessel or something, don’t really spread fast. Those DEEP melanomas are harder .
Please pleas pleas go to AMAZON site. Order bunch of thoes ---Vitamin C ,,,dissolvable 1000mg ,,,take at least 3 times a day.
I took health n nutrition in college in canada. I am so regretting now that I knew it but i did NOT take care of myself. I am so regretting it. Professor did mention that Vitamin C CANT destroy pre existing cells. But it can PREVENT new cancer cell from spreading. Cuz it prevent the new cell’s mitochondria DNA from properly form. So the new cancer cells will be “mal formed” n die on its own.

those were so healpful. So so helpful. I was on feeding tube for 6 months during my treatment. It was aweful d whole experience .
I've had laryngospasms after a cold/chest infection which included a lot of coughing. This left me hoarse which has continued for weeks after. Is this normal? I still do cough if i laugh hard or do a big yawn and feel like the cough hasn't properly gone away. The laryngospasms have eased but I still feel like the threat of them is there, especially if food or water 'goes down the wrong way'.
I have a small lump in my neck and I can see something sitting or growing on my left Tonsil. I have mild pain swallowing food but when I drink it doesn't hurt. No cough, no shortness of breath but the thingy on my left tonsil hurts when I touch it. Gonna see the doc today.
Damn, I was actually in the hospital a few months ago because I've had dysphagia since July of 2020. Lost a lot of weight due to that so that's why I was there. I got 2 ct scans one for my neck and one for my chest as well as an endoscopy and colonoscopy. And a month later I got a barium swallow. One thing they checked for was malignancies. Everything came back fine. I'm still worried I may have throat cancer tho and perhaps it was missed? The top of my neck has been hurting constantly for the past 2 weeks a and goes to my lower jaw and sometimes up the sides of my head and in my ears. I also worry I have cancer because I've noticed a gradual yet consistent change in the structure of my Adams apple plus the fact I had poor oral hygiene for a good number of years. I would think with all the tests I had they would see I had cancer. They also took biopsy samples during my endoscopy. But I can't help but feel they missed something.
Same with me also. Exactly at same site of beside Adams apple I got lump which gradually grown in size. Tomorrow I am going for biopsy. Results will come in a week.

I have an appointment later this week, my doctor said shes going to see if she can have me re examined after she sees me herself. her office just opened up again so i dont have to do video calls any more. So that will be nice. One part of me wants to believe the results the hospital gave me when i was last there, another part doesn't. Its just been a frustrating time, because one living with the sympotms is hard but not 100% knowing whats causing everything and the fact all these symptoms could be all kinds of different things makes me nervous. But again, wish you all the best with your biopsy. Hope it all comes back clear
@@nuggets1356 biopsy reports shows Non Hodgkin's lymphoma. Now waiting for IHC (immunohistochemistry) reports to start chemotherapy.

I'm getting my impacted wisdom teeth extracted today and if my swelling and stuff is still there post OP i'll have to do what i can to get my neck better checked. Keep in touch with how it goes.
Exactly what they did to my mom, all that CT scan endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy sample, after 14days doctor said my mom have throat cancer stage 4

Ive Ben having pain in my throat for a few weeks now as well. It's only on one side. It's a sharp pain when I swallow. It's hard to sleep seeing all these symptoms could be cancer. I'll be going in tomorrow to urgent care to get checked.

My father suffering from pain in throat and mild changes in his voice for a couple of weeks doctor did endoscopy and said that it is ulcero proliferative lesion epiglottis with mild congestion. And he suggested for biopsy. My father is 68 years old and also a heart patient. He had a bypass surgery in 2010. Is biopsy test safe for him? Please reply me ASAP.

I’ve had difficulty swallowing and it looks like my tonsils been cut a little, and it’s only my left tonsil so I’m still pretty freaked it might be cancer 😂

I have the same situation my left tonsils seems either swollen or like a lump
I don’t have difficulty swallowing except for when I eat Mac n cheese. I also had a little bump on the top of my throat right next to the uvula. The first time I discovered this was when I was eating Mac n cheese and noticed slight stingy pain in my throat and slightly difficulty swallowing. I got a flashlight and looked in the mirror and saw a lump. Now I have what looks like cobblestone throat, I have multiple bumps on the back of my throat, but not sure if it’s cobblestone throat or not. I don’t have anymore difficulty swallowing or any pain when swallowing. I have 2 very small bumps on the left side of my neck and 1 on the right. They rarely ever hurt and they are not hard. I also have 1 very small, movable, and pretty soft lymph node right above my left collar bone. I’ve had it ever since I got the covid vaccine and it’s gotten small since I got the vaccine, which was in June I think. It doesn’t hurt though. I can also move my esophagus left and right, and in the left side, it feels like it’s more forward than right side. Whenever I move it side to side, I feel something, kind of like a crack but it’s not and I’m honestly not sure what it is. My right side of my esophagus has a little hard part on the top of it that is more forward than the left. Should I be worried about this? Also on the left side, I have a movable bump, not a lymph node, that doesn’t hurt, it’s small, and has been there for quite a while now. Should I be worried about any of this or do you think I’m fine.
I don’t drink a lot of water and I live in a hot state, i maybe drink 1 bottle a week or 2. I only drink sweet tea. Could this be a reason for all of this?

I feel like i got something pressing on the back of my throat that pushes on the back of my neck or its the neck pressing on my throat but i do smoke some times i feel like a lump swells on the the roof of my mouth but it goes away
I am scared my daughter was just diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid and said she needs her thyroid operated and removed we are scared
I have had asymmetrical tonsils for at least a couple of months or thats when I noticed it. I am pretty sure there is no pain its hard to tell because I had or still have gingivitis antibiotics gave me or made an opportunity for oral thrush. Antifungal lozenges didnt work for the back of my tongue the burning sensation went away but not the white. Sorry for the extra info but long story short impacted molars or wisdom teeth pain make me second guess sometimes if I did the right thing by telling my ENT no pain. I finally saw ENT yesterday he said it looks like and he thinks it's a cyst but cant tell me he's 100% sure. I asked is there puss he said aaaahhh (like he was thinking) no it's more like tissue. I forget the name of cyst he said it was. I guess it's literally coming from my right tonsil. When he was looking I even heard him say it looks like the tonsil itself. The reason for this comment is I have two choices get the tonsils removed or keep an eye on it. What should I do?

I don’t have difficulty swallowing except for when I eat Mac n cheese. I also had a little bump on the top of my throat right next to the uvula. The first time I discovered this was when I was eating Mac n cheese and noticed slight stingy pain in my throat and slightly difficulty swallowing. I got a flashlight and looked in the mirror and saw a lump. Now I have what looks like cobblestone throat, I have multiple bumps on the back of my throat, but not sure if it’s cobblestone throat or not. I don’t have anymore difficulty swallowing or any pain when swallowing. I have 2 very small bumps on the left side of my neck and 1 on the right. They rarely ever hurt and they are not hard. I also have 1 very small, movable, and pretty soft lymph node right above my left collar bone. I’ve had it ever since I got the covid vaccine and it’s gotten small since I got the vaccine, which was in June I think. It doesn’t hurt though. I can also move my esophagus left and right, and in the left side, it feels like it’s more forward than right side. Whenever I move it side to side, I feel something, kind of like a crack but it’s not and I’m honestly not sure what it is. My right side of my esophagus has a little hard part on the top of it that is more forward than the left. Should I be worried about this? Also on the left side, I have a movable bump, not a lymph node, that doesn’t hurt, it’s small, and has been there for quite a while now. Should I be worried about any of this or do you think I’m fine.
I don’t drink a lot of water and I live in a hot state, i maybe drink 1 bottle a week or 2. I only drink sweet tea. Could this be a reason for all of this?
Well it sounds like you should avoid mac-n-cheese. If you know you arent drinking water thats a major red flag. Your goal should be to drink half your body weight in ozs a day.

Ive had a sore thoat for probably a couple of months now, I'm tossing up if I should go to a doctoror not, I'm not really a doctor person and usually I prefer to just soldier through without seeing one unless it's something life threatening, but cancer is pretty life threatening right?
I had a similar thing maybe 10 years ago though, I had a sore thoat for maybe 3 months or so and one day it just went away quickly and that was the end of it. So im kinda hoping it's just something like that again.
I'm almost 36 and don't smoke but I have had issues with alcohol and drank heavily on and off over the years. Currently I'm not 100% alcohol free but don't drink much at all. I've also had issues with acid reflux and heartburn, so I dunno. What do you guys in the comments think?
I’d get checked out. I’ve had sore throat and swollen lymph nodes for just 2 weeks and went in for blood test today. But I would guess it would get worse after 3 months of it was cancer..

Acid reflux. If you are obese then you may have this. Its a symptom of gerd.
So I have a jaw bone lump it feels like on only on side of corner jaw bone. Does cause pain when turning head that’s how I notice. I’m not 25. What do u recommend looking into would love to hear back.

hey, hopefully you are still reading comments. I recently took a blood test and it looks like i have hyperthyroidism. (symptoms: loss weight, heat intolerant, dizziness). i'm taking meds for it and it looks fine. I think they ruled out thyroid cancer and basically said it was graves disease. I noticed i have been experiencing some mucus (usually white/greenish. sometimes in the morning it's darker than normal). They said this is unrelated to the hyperthyroidism. It's been going on for a bit over a month now. Most of the time, I feel like there's something in the throat. doesn't feel like a lump, but feels like theres mucus or something there so i have the urge to "cough it up". i dont have the cough , no pain in ear, don't have trouble swallowing, no voice problems. none of these yet... i had papillary thyroid carcinoma, had a thyroidectomy but insurance would not cover the parathyroid to be removed after the 24 hr urine calcium test results were evaluated. now, almost 2 years since surgery I have same symptoms as before but this time my left ear and neck beneath my ear and left cheek chronically spasm and ear pressure is driving me crazy. my PCP keeps saying my ear is not infected and nothing is wrong with it. It feels like its draining at night and go back to dr and dr says my ear is fine. So could it be cancer again? The vertigo is terrible also .
