Do what the locals do. Bali.

- Today on my walk around Ubud, Bali, I’m welcomed off the street by strangers to look at their home and enjoy a coffee.
I also meet an old man who has just returned from the fields with some coconuts and we chat about simple things to do with his life.
One of the local Balinese family members who lives downstairs prepares cartons for food the family is supplying to a large ceremony which will require one thousand boxes made. He’s made 250 already by 7am.
Added to this I discuss the Balinese approach to stress and how it seems they want to avoid it for a calm life.
I’m in bliss when I’m in Bali ❤️🙏😇
So glad you've got your little nirvana like many of us do, Kerrie. Cheers.
Thank you for sharing this video Wayne..... ❤
My pleasure, DoubleA.
Hey Wayne , would love to see you do a vid from Perth & the juxtaposition of your daily life there as opposed to Bali - will miss my daily Ubud fix , thanks for all your great work 🙏
Hey Miriam. Thanks so much. Perth life sure is in contrast to Bali living and one will be looking forward to a quick return. :) Thanks miriam.
It's amazing how peaceful it is in those compounds just off the noisy roads. Like stepping into a different world. Best is to ride deep into the countryside, turn off the ending and just listen to the beautiful silence and sounds of nature.
It's crazy how quiet they can be considering, isn't it? You've reminded me I'm long overdue to get lost at the end of a road somewhere. thanks.
Thank you. A great video.
hey macleay. thanks for stopping by to say hello. Cheers.
@ - My pleasure. I enjoy your channel. We spend 3 months each year in Sanur so totally relate to your snippets of interesting topics . Thanks again Paul and Coralie
Hi Mate, Perth videos would be great, but don't stay too long, I think a few of us will be missing your Bali walkabouts.😀
Hi ian. I'd miss them myself. :)
Perth would be great! We would watch no matter where you go mate
That's a really kind thing to say, ul. Thank you.
And yes to something about Perth (I only know the east coast), even though it's primarily Bali that I'm here for🙂
Yes, I understand people are here to see Bali but it's nice to know one or two videos from Perth might be of interest to some. Thanks, kmcg.
Hello Wayne
Thanks for another wonderful video ❤
Would love to see you do a video of my old home town Perth 😊
Hi Bernadette. Thanks as always. I'll be doing one or two videos in Perth, I think. Cheers.
Great work Wayne. Your word of the day is 'mampir' = call in. The Bapak said to you mampir and beckoned you inside to his home. Don't forget nasi kotak either
Thanks Daniel. So much to learn so little time. :)n Cheers.
Really enjoying your videos
Hey Ronald. Thanks taking the time to say so, I'm really glad you're enjoying the little vids. Cheers.
You are lucky, ceremonies of such a large scale only happen once in every 35 years in Ubud. Perfect timing 🎉
Hi Ahmad, good to see you. Yes, very lucky to be here at this time - it's very unique. Cheers.
Great video, that lady has a good business head. I would love to see videos from. Perth. It"s somewhere I have yet to visit.
Hi Silver. Thanks for offering an opinion on getting a video or two from Perth. Cheers.
Beautiful day and beautiful sharing ❤
Hi PSC, it was a great day it has to be said. Cheers.,
They know how to go with the flow. Prayers and mantras help maintain a stress free life community life. In other words they are well connected to nature. ❤
I think you're right, dc. Having a faith maybe gives you something to lean on a bit. Cheers.
Thanks Wayne, lovely gardens
Hi Janete. Thanks for coming along.
Hi Wayne was the place called Jero Griya where you dropped in, up from the Palace, thanks. And enjoyable video as always, cheers.
Do some videos in Perth sounds great.
Hi river, I'm not sure. I'll walk past again and find the name.
@@fiascodagama1 Hey Wayne if it's part of your walk, but don't go out the way, thanks. It seemed very nice and knowing landmarks helps me work out what area your walking in for future reference of places to visit and Jalans to walk down.
Love video from perth, love australia.
In next two week I will be in australia for 10 days❤❤❤
Hey ray. Nice one on the trip to Australia - I hope you enjoy your stay. Cheers.
I've been a regular visitor to Indo and I'm absolutely loving your warm, simple, unpretentious vids!
You capture moments beautifully.
And your critics can, as they say here in Australia, go f÷×k themselves!
Ha! Thanks Roundly. I'm not sure there are many places in the world where so many locals are so welcoming and more than happy to drop everything to chat or make you a cup of coffee. it makes traveling in Indonesia a great experience - but I suspect you've worked that out as well having returned here many times. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.
Love to see Perth :)
Hey Bridgette. Thanks for voicing your opinion on it, it helps a lot. cheers.
Selemat Pagi, Wayne! Orang Bali have a different social structure than the west, esp in the US. Beautiful kampung with so many gorgeous, lush tropical plants. Island life. Tidak apa apa. Terima kasih.
Hi Liz. I couldn't imagine staying in a hotel now after spending a lot of time in kampungs as you're eventually included in everything and almost accepted as part of the family. Are you up really late?
Yeah a blog from perth would be a geat idea , You dont want to get Rusty Hahaha .
Thanks Paul. It seems one or two blogs from perth might be acceptable. Cheers.
Thanks for the video !
I've screen shot that home stay name and will save it. I'll research a Bali trip.
Cheers
Hi Dwayne. Researching a trip is half the fun sometimes. Cheers.
Hi Dwayne. Researching a trip is half the fun sometimes. Cheers.
@fiascodagama1 absolutely, I'm a bit of a travel nut 😜
'jam karat' - it'll be done when it's done.
Yeah, it's an approach that resonates deeply. :)
I was hoping you would do one, I look forward to your regular updates, mainly on Bali but one on the swan river or Perth beaches would be good
It could be on the cost of living compared to Bali for example ?
Hey damian, thanks for the input and the idea of a cost comparison, I appreciate it.
Hi Wayne. I’m from Adelaide haven’t been to Perth for a good 30 years at a guess. Would love to see it through your eyes.
Hey, Aly. Really appreciate you giving me you're thoughts on a few Perth videos. Thanks. i've been to Adelaide a couple of times and really enjoyed my time while there, it's a lovely city. I look forward to giving you a bit of a tour, well, a tour of some of the people there, I guess. :) Cheers
Sound nice if there is video from perth Mr... See u
Hi Yannarya. Thanks for your feedback and letting me know you'd like to see a couple of videos from Perth. Cheers.
Hey mate. Would love to video's from Perth. i really enjoy your content. I'm a Perth lad born n bred also and be good to see other's perspective of our great city. I am sure alot of your S/east Asian followers would love to see Perth aswell .
Hey SC. Really grateful for the feedback and I think the general consensus is a couple of videos from Perth wouldn't be too annoying. Appreciate it. Cheers.
Done ! 😊
Ha! It doesn't take a lot of convincing for some of us does it, Lesley?
Your from Perth Wayne, Mandurah here, WA is a great place 👌👍
Hey Mark. yeah, I don't think we can complain on the whole about W.A., it has annoyances but where doesn't? Cheers.
@fiascodagama1 Well said, I love Bali but doubt I could live there and always nice to come back home, and the quality of our roads 😁
Were from Perth you from Wayne? Im originaly from Balcatta and Wanneroo in my growing up years. Been in the Pilbara 38 years now.
I'm actually a Bunbury boy, Jonesy, but have called Perth home for the last forty years.
Definitely an Indonesian trait; don't stress. You may see a local draw a finger diagonally across their forehead, which means 'miring' or crazy. Its derived from not being in balance, or stressed. Please do some Perth vids. Haven't been there in yonks. Thanks.
Hi ed. This part of the Balinese being is a very attractive feature. thanks for the vote on Perth vlogs. cheers.
What is the name of Ayu's guest house? Looks pretty laid back, and wlecoming
Unfortunately I don't know as it wasn't really meant to be a guesthouse review. i'll ask next time I pass by. Cheers.
Hiya Wayne,a Balinese said once to me that nature is their yoga 🧘♂️ Despite my Catholic upbringing,I lean towards spirituality not specific religions but l Iike exploring churches, mosques, temples&even love at my bungalow the daily offerings whilst watching the lizards, dogs&chickens trying to take their share.
I love the Balinese tranquillity except on rare occasions where there is urgent matter that needs addressing&as Bali is very community based which helps compared to individualistic cultures
That was a lovely homestay you saw&I have only twice seen Perth ages ago so I am sure people would be curious to see. Also,I hear Lombok is like old school.Bali minus the rice fields, will you be visiting there?
Safe travels
Hi Stephanie. The sense of community here is as you say is significant and alleviates a lot of the stress that we may have in the west when things get tough. I've been to Lombok a few times and particularly enjoy the southern beaches, and yes, my experience has been it resembles what Bali was decades ago. Thanks for the feedback on a couple of videos from Perth. and watching lizards is a highly underrated activity as I see it. :)
@fiascodagama1 Indeed, although fireflies mesmerise me so hopefully there will be plenty next time as a form of meditation 🧘♀️ for myself
Wayne a couple in Perth would be great makasi banja
Thanks, Pablo. It's great of you to offer some indication if a couple of Perth vids would be watched. cheers.
Your vlog in Perth would be exciting. Please do whatever you do in Bali vlogs as in your future Perth vlogs. When I was living in Melbourne in the 90s, to me aussies like you are quite accomodating when approached to have little chit chat just like the balinese. If you could come up and do small chats with other western Australians innyour vlogs, i think that'd be exciting.
Thanks for the feedback, ruff. I kinda need to know if a few Perth vids would be welcome. I appreciate it.
I thought you already left bali@@fiascodagama1
@@milkybar06 No, as I mentioned in the last video I'm here for another week still.
Yeah I think it would be cool to see the contrast from Bali lofe versus Perth life tbh
which guest house was this?
Hi Callum. I'm out for a while and will check when I get back. I'm not sure I know the name. Maybe have a look on the video as I enter - there might be a name on the door or wall somewhere.
When you said Terima Kasih to the gentleman carrying coconuts, he replied "sukseme", which means thank you in Balinese (if you didn't know ☺️ )
@@jennynairn1388 Thanks Jenny.
i thought you were living there - why are you leaving there and going back to. P ??
As mentioned in the video my visa has expired. Cheers.
i for one has never been there - perth doesn’t seem like a place i would ever go to
@@fiascodagama1 wow. seems so quick -
stuck here in cambodia. -
I'll be back.:)
If you can work your RUclips magic and showcase Perth it will be much appreciated. Hope the volcanic ash clears & suspended flights resume.
Yes, hopefully it's clear skies. I feel for those who have had their holidays cut short, or delayed.
Recovering staunch atheist ;-) well said.
Thankfully old age doesn't come alone, Ninette.
@@fiascodagama1 No, it brings many presents, some a bit nicer than others ;-)
"Nothing so urgent....." until you get on the roads that is, where people drive like theyre demon possessed on their way to some great emergency without any fear of death or consideration for other road users. Some guy in a truck driving right up my backside the other day. I pulled over quite abruptly and waved him past. He stopped right behind me and got very irate shouting abuse and waving his arms. I dont know what gets into people when they get onto a scooter or behind the wheel of a vehicle.
The roads seem to bring out the worst in some people all over the world unfortunately. Sorry you had to endure one of those types.
Really i dont think so
@@fiascodagama1 Yes, the roads here are very dangerous until you get onto the back roads which are heavenly. I'm a very experienced motorcyclist but busier roads here with unpredictable drivers put all my skills and experience to the test. Cool headedness and driving defensively at safe distance is the key to survival.
@pablodiablo6741 That's my experience having riden hundreds of miles around Bali. Perhaps you have a different experience.
@ yeah i do but , each to there own
