His grandfather broke when dropped. In the 1980s, the first G-Shocks would be something so advanced and out of this world. This might be hard to imagine with a world of apple smartwatches that can use gps and give you social media notifications. But there is so much amazing uses, technologies, and value that the GW-M5610 offers for right around $100. This is a formula that is amazing to give you so much versatility and toughness, but not be an overwhelming distraction of notifications and alerts like today’s smart devices. All in a ultra tough package. Also being a big part of cool pop and hip hop culture, and LEO and Military usage…what’s not to love.
Overall this it a timeless design and it’s one of the cornerstones of the wristwatch’s history.

Still wearing one today. Back in the eighties no solar power or atomic the watch has come on a lot over the decades. Looking forward to the new one with the new display etc .

Had one of the first gwm 5610s multiband 5 ! Went for decades and have just had to buy another replacement the gwm 5610u ! Almost the identical style but with a different back-light and the ability to alter the day date for European format? This one will out last me for sure?

For the money, they cost to buy..You can NOT buy a better watch for the same money.
I also have some of the more humble Casio watches such as the F91W ..
