I agree. I have mine for 3 years now. I bought it a few months after my steel square (B5000) as I got a huge discount. As it turned out, the B5000 is rarely worn nowadays. As it is just uncomfortable to wear. Wearing the 5610 9 times out of 10 instead.
I agree on all points I have had this same watch for almost five years now. I wear it more than any other watch I own. It is feature loaded and cost efficient. It is just a perfect watch and I really like the look of it. Reminds me of the original G-shocks that came out in 1983. I couldn't afford one then and was really stoked when I saw this one five years ago. Had to have it. Glad I do.
I have that watch. You're right, it is one of the best watches ever made. One con: it's the alarm sound, it's a thin reedy sound that will not wake me up at all, so that feature is useless to me. cheers
I have this one too and would recommend it highly. I use it a lot, especially when travelling but also as a daily. An all rounder which does everything I need it to do. The newer date feature would have been nice as I live in Europe, but it’s just a minor thing. Cheers!
@@crisoclock The updated model with the "U" in the end indeed can switch date format but it also has at least one more important update - some like it, some don't. The U model has LED backlight instead of the older model's electroluminecent backlight. - LED uses less power and has 50 000 hour lifetime but is not so nice to look at - one can clearly see where the light comes from one side, not so uniform - Electroluminecent looks much better but has a lot shorter lifetime, over the years it will dim noticeably and it uses more power How to tell those apart by looking only at the front: The older model has "EL BACK LIGHT" and the newer model has "LIGHT" marking above the screen.
The old EL light would only last 400+ years under normal use. The new bad looking LED will last longer than that for no reason other than to save casio a little money.
I have one of the first from 2010 multiband 5 and it's been totally reliable and is a work watch Al.ost constantly ever since! The watch is still on its original band and bezel! It has shown full charge since day one and always receives the daily time signal! Here in the UK, it can be had for £74 at present and is a no-brainer ! Totally recommended G shock!
i just bought this watch and i love it, i receive the radio wave every night, the watch get update every day, i dont fell it on the wrist and the tough solar is a great thing to, Gshock is known for its toughness and durability
Great watch. I've had mine for a couple of months, and my only complaint is that the alarm is too quiet... not an issue with my Casioak. Otherwise, I love this watch.
The best watch I have and I wear as my daily one. I have other watches (Casio's and smartwatches) but when I look to this one... there's no better feeling. The iconic look and the great features like tough solar and multiband 6 makes the difference. Unique. Battery also never went to M or L. Thanks for sharing your review, nice contents!
I have one (The GWM5610U version), I'm wearing it right now. Not a fan of the strap, I replaced them with Barton's Elite Silicone ones that are made for this type of watch (no adapters needed). The 'U' version can swap the order of the month and day on the main time screen.
I hear from reviews that the GW-5000U has softer straps, a steel body and screw-down backplate, same functions but pay a premium for it, about twice the price. I think it would be worth it.
I bought a GW-5000U strap and put it on my GW-M5610U. Perfect fit and way softer than the original one. You can also put your strap in boiling water for 30 mins (that's what I did for my GA-B2100C-9A and it softed it a bit (but not as good as the GW-5000U strap). Hope this helped.
My daily wear. The watch has a great feature set, its super light weight and of course its durable. Its greatest benefit to a watch collector is in the "Daily Wearability" Every time you bang the watch, scratch it, gouge it, dunk it etc.. it saves your Man Bling watches from looking beat up. I gouge a Patek case and its devastating! That happens to this watch? If it doesn't look tougher, just buy another bezel. Keep bling blingy. Keep tough tough!
I've owned mine for an year and I'm definitely going for the white band+bezel combo at some point. Already got the parts. Top 3 all time fav. model together with DW6900ww and GD350-1B.
Got a 5610 (non U version) in black/orange. Best watch in an even better color combo, imo. I often want to go with a smartwatch but can't bring myself to remove this baby from my wrist. Fits great under a sleave too. The only thing that will replace anytime soon is another 5610 but with their mip display. Casio won't release it, though, because it will kill their market.
I've taken mine down to 30-50m as a diver. No issues. It's tough, though salt, lint and dead skin build up under the bezel. $12 for a new bezel gave it another 10 years of utility. I find it ugly (in its native form), but very useful as a cornerstone of a collection. An atomic/radio watch is very valuable for setting the time of the others. Whatever your watch tastes, a 5610 will be a net positive.
I really wanted to love this but when I tried it in person the buttons were too small and recessed that I would have to take the watch off my wrist to use them. Anyone with the same issue?
Can we change the date so that it is Day of the week -> Date -> Month? Also have you ever been in a situation when the signal does not catch the actual time where you are and then you have to change the time manually? I guess that is what would happen if we in a place where the watch cannot take that band 6 signal. Thinking of getting this watch as a day to day watch and maybe a watch to go overseas, or when camping/holiday. I'd rather have a gshock that can take lots of beating vs a dress watch. Another option could be a tougher divers watch. if you have been in this situation please let me know. Awesome vid btw😎😎
Thanks mate. No, this very model cannot change the date setting BUT newer versions can 👍🏼 Ya, my gshocks are on my wrist a lot when doing manual labor and when outdoor (unless it’s a meeting or a chill activity). My Tudor bb 41 followed me a lot for a lot of outdoor activities too but I came to the conclusion that having a lightweight, cheap(er) and precise watch is better. Regarding multi band 6 it should be able to catch the time pretty much anywhere but you can search online for the areas that won’t be reached. Yes you can set it manually in that case but being an electronic watch it will stay on time for a very long time once set (1-2 seconds per month!) vs a mechanical watch that - if you’re lucky - will gain/lose at least 4-6 seconds per day minimally. Hope that helps
@@crisoclock my only worry now is that it is hard to justify a G-shock because if I am not using my dress watch then I can use my apple watch. The gshock may miss a few fitness features but once you get it you know it will rarely need any maintenance or extra costs, unlike an Apple watch that maybe in 3 years may need replacement.
Time format: I like the US format of month.date. I create about 10 project computer files a day for correspondence, archive & job progress. The US format is simple and convenient to glance down at my watch. Example: Xxxx.Year.Month.Date 👍. I have multiple projects floating around in my head at any point. Just a tiny convenience.
Yup, I can see why! I organise my compute files the same YYYYMMDD but here in Europe it’s sometimes hard to figure out the date at a glance since we learn to always look at the day and the month (and the year). Take care!
You get five world times on this watch with the ability to switch your current time with any world time you choose, will auto update with the atomic signal
