Great timing for me having just received (finally) my XL. I didn’t realise a lot of these actions I was getting excited about are new! And also you’ve explained I was mis-using the transition. I was hitting it expecting it to transfer my preview to program but there’s a dedicated action for it.

I'm just finally using this and wondering how it's so broken? Adding a media is such a pain. I literally have to sit there and toggle it by hand after setting it up in hopes it will eventually play it. When it does, it works! When it doesn't... I pull my hair out. Any suggestions?? I'm coming from Streamlabs and I just can't believe how busted OBS is after hearing about it forever.
If it changes filters within obs how do you distinguish between other filters within obs? like if i have a noise gate activated in obs and i have a color filter for my game play. How do i designate which one it goes to? I dont have a stream deck and looking into getting the one with the knobs but i have no idea how to fully....appreciate what it all can do i guess and buying a 200$ product i dont even know how to fully use makes me reluctant lol. But i sure shit hate grabbing my mouse to go into discord to mute myself to talk to stream soooooo many times lol. Or switching between scenes within obs for comedic affect but using a mouse kinda just steals the flow of it all.

I thought the power of these things was that you could map a key from OBS etc to a touch pad of the device so you could assign them to anything you want? Or have I missed something here?
The stream deck obviously also has its own software and to add new functions does require downloading updates. I mean, imagine if their is a new function in OBS and you want to map that your stream deck: How is your old firmware on the stream deck supposed to know of this new function? I don't understand your issue. You just get more options that you can select from. After you've set up your stuff, you can press that button. This video just talks about what you can map... I am really confused at this question, but to anwser your first question: It depends if its worth to buy a stream deck. Depends on how many programs you use and if you do a lot of repeated stuff. Generally, I think its not really a necessary peripheral. If you get a used one for cheap, it might be a fun item. Try to search for some stream deck videos, maybe with some programs yoh use regularly. Photoshop or your video editing software or whatever else.

I asked if these devices allowed you to map hotkeys to those touch buttons so basically you could add any function that you would press a key in OBS to this device. However I always see people dragging inbuilt functions from the software to those buttons and exclaim how some new update has added these features, which are just short cut keys in OBS anyway, so my question remains: Why the need for updates when anything in OBS can be added with a shortcut/hotkey?
@@Rocky712_ Never mind, Elgato answered this on another channel for me. 'anything using direct integration with Stream Deck being aware of state changes requires use of the plugin and the OBS API' So that explains why hotkeys alone don't do everything. But I can see it's of limited use in that program, changing scenes in a video stream is about all you really need to do, and on a touch screen laptop you have that covered anyway. As for photoshop etc, once you learn the shortcuts you don't need this device either. It's just a pretty display that makes people feel empowered maybe? Have a nice day.

The stream deck is just more convenient with pre-built settings and of course some small icons that make it easier to recognize that macro. But I was confused, because it sounded like you did not even understand the core (and tbh only) reason for a stream deck: Macros. Most people just want some presets to get started, but you can build a lot yourself. In photoshop it is more useful than you think. I do know my short cuts, but with the stream deck (or any macro software) I can apply multiple filter effects by just pressing one button. If you have repeated tasks like that in any program, that's when the stream deck (or any similiar product) is the most useful. But in the end, I think the stream deck is pretty overpriced. Probably better to get a plain macro without any icon displays. Unless you have dozens of macros, in that case the display can become handy.
Either turn the light backwards so it bounces the light off the wall. This only works well if your setup is quite far from a wall or else it could look worse than just shining it on your face like normal/advertised. OR get glasses with anti-glare. Besides that you'll have a hard time having things not reflect off your glasses. Especially if you aren't willing to move the position the light is in.
The .exe from the 5.3 version does not open im my computer. 5.2.x runs normal. Already tried running with compatible mode. Still does not work. Anyone had this? Any solution?
Hell yeah I totally want to go spend $200 on a square piece of plastic just to use hotkeys, instead of buying a $15 numpad and using that which does the same thing

Ayo i wear glasses and the ring light always reflect into my glasses. Any solutions (expect changing the place of the light)
