What I love more is that Travis as Fjord tried to make a connection with Sam (Nott) just like Scanlan-Grog duo, but Sam had the perfect response to it. I mean, it'd be cool if they make the same kinda connection in this campaign too, but it'd be awesome to see other characters connect with one another as well.

@@relyimah i'm still early to campaign two and there is campagin 3 and 4 coming up and all the one-shots and short campagisn but i can already tell that Sam is just born for this. Is it because he is entertainer, super smart or just born to be a player? maybe all of the above. Liam would also be there if he didn't have a memory of a 8yo lmao. I'm still mad how he fucked himself over when dealing with Raven Queen because i highly believe "as a reward i only want to live the rest of my live with keyleth" is pretty fucking humble wish for saving the world and possibly Raven's Queen existence or at least all she is about. Aside from Sam i expect Travis and Laura to be the top dogs. Liam and Taliesin are great but hindered by the way they choose to play or in Liam's case his poor aśs memory/sense of orientation. I know Liam has/had some illness and idk if that has anything to do with it, but i never hated him for asking 100th how sneak attack works because i love the dude and he never gave shit to anyone for anything, even with Orion. People who complain about him are not true fans and honestly don't deserve watching the group. I only understand hate Marisha been getting, but that's just the type of person she is. I would say she is cringe if she was doing shit to get attention, to show she is the wife of the DM - but she never did, she is just that dense sometimes and while not my favorite in the group i really love all of them. Taliesin and Marisha i vibe the least with but still i loved their one-shots and that's probably where i like them best, when they bring out something of theirs

It's a little overlooked how Nott's slaying of the baby outright saved Fjord from death rather than just a knock-out. Three critical attacks against wounded him, were all but a certain kill.
Yeah, rewatching that really struck me. We would have had a totally different campaign, sans fjord, cus he'd have been fjucked. Also, Nott probably could have disengaged and dashed away if Beau hadn't grabbed her, lol, but her heart was in the right place.
I don't think forced movement is supposed to provoke, though.

Yup... Sam's MVP status is still his in this campaign too. When Matt mentioned his plan, realization hit both Travis and Laura, and Travis cant stop looking at Sam, with his jaw dropped.
At first I thought he was still shocked at Sam for killing a baby, but after rewatching it, it's really clear

Matt literally knows 150 characters including the casts better than any cast member knows their single character. I get they are busy people but it blows my mind how they just apparently forget or never actually research/learn their own characters O.o

@@josephkenworthey9541 Few people do 3d6 in order anymore. Most people assign scores out of six random rolls method depending. So I find it hard to appreciate unless I'm certain the one time only random array generator was used. That being said any stat, depending on class if the player builds smart, can ge a dump stat.

I really love how every magic attack Nott knows is taught to her by Caleb. Can you imagine them pre-mighty nein nerding over spellbooks and getting all excited when Nott perfects a spell
If you remember in the last few episodes when Nott cast her first spell? Caleb was so excited he danced with her and ugh their friendship is adorable
I mean, that is likely what happened between Liam and Sam when they were building their characters hehee

For people who suppress accents to fit the speaking norm that's actually a correct linguistic phenomenon. When losing composure the original learned accent/dialect comes through.

The way Caleb was only focused on Nott’s unconscious body really got to me, Nott and Caleb’s bond is my favourite thing about this campaign
And how Liam played this VERY different than Vax. Vax just jumped in to save Vex and saying anything (to Raven Queen) to bring her back. Caleb here was just broken and unable to move and just looking defeated at the visual of his friend being unconscious. He did have a healing potion as well, Liam could have made Caleb run to Nott to save her, but the RP from Liam was so fucking good. I love Caleb.

@@MattBailz Mechnically it's a big part of the character, so I think Matt definitely wanted to make it apparant it was happening and important to the story, rather than it possibly being glossed as Liam just doing some extra role-play.

I’m 5 years late to the party, never played DND once in my 52 years on this earth.
Found a fun clip on tiktok and deep down in the comment section of that clip, someone suggested to start to watch this campaign.
While I still don’t fully understand everything I switch between the episodes and reading about the spells and weapons online thing are getting clearer?
This is more fun and exciting than most movies and the entire cast, with their awesome performance, is making the experience even better ❤

Totally normal. There are a lot of intricacies to DND. I'm not quite sure of all the race and class features they have so I'm a little confused in combat even though ive played DND before.
I started watching the 1st campaign. But this is even better because the players themselves, especially Liam and Travis, explain what their spell looks like and what it does, so its easier to imagine

I'm doing something similar with my divination wizard using his portents to make enemies automatically fail their saves at Tasha's Hideous laughter. My fellow players laugh at how terrible my jokes are and enemies can't help but laugh at them. Haha.

Yeah I feel like sometimes they're too busy seeing him as the big scary DM who they need to defeat in order to win and forget he just wants to be having fun playing D&D with his friends too, so it kinda sucks for him when his turns get shut down a lot by bad rolls. It's too bad the quality of Matt's rolls are generally inversely correlated to how much fun his friends are having.
I appreciate Matt for having to limit his fun in that regard in order for his friends to have a better experience though. He's an amazing DM and an even better friend.
@@user-Aaron-while I generally agree with your sentiment I think those failed save might have been some dice karma for giving that Manticore advantage on its hideous laughter save after failing the first roll. I do love and respect his craft he is an amazing DM and I'm just now up to this episode so I have a lot more to watch.

Caleb: walks up to Fjord and shoots a fire bolt at the Gnole only to miss he then looks at Fjord and says “uh ya!” just as an arrow hits him in the stomach leading to Fjord rolling his eyes and pushing Caleb away so he can fire at the Gnole killing it

I love watching Liam plays. Always respectful of Matt. He describes his spells and actions amazingly without overdoing it. Also the way he explains the game with the dice and everything is just so pure. His roleplay (especially with Sam) is perfection incarnate.
Also, he almost never leaves character, I legit thought he was german till I looked him up.
To add to that, Caleb is amazing, and the fact that he has no middle ground dice wise (he either rolls a 1, or a 20) makes it so fucking hilarious
Liam and Travis are GREAT players, it would be an absolute pleasure to run something for them. Laura likes to be silly sometimes but as far as combat goes she is usually very tactically sound and a party asset too. Tal makes some really clever plays too and is awesome at party support stuff, which is why he totally kills it once he switches to a cleric class as Cad. The rest of the party get a bit hit or miss with the decision making and Marisha and Sam get too cutesy at times but them and Ashley are still clearly above average players on the whole. They are so much fun to watch as a group, especially this campaign as I actually like all their characters this time!
Well, with Caleb he is respectful and doesn't overdo it. With Vax it wasn't always the case, he hogged the spotlight, didn't always have great role-playing ("I walk to that person, monologue their ear off and walk away") and constantly pushed his luck with the dm (quite literally with his five or six "luck" rolls per day and also his eleven attacks plus haste plus bonus plus attacks on top.) I guess he heard the feedback and toned it down, which really is for the best. :)
Yeah completely agree! His role-playing, his voice, his balance of combat and character is just perfect, I love him and love when he gets a lot of time.

I love how in character Liam stays. When Caleb is dazed Liam just starts to ignore everyone else. Even ignores a lot of the jokes cause of it.

@@OrionBright I think he made a comment early on in the campaign that his grandparents are German or have German ancestry. It's quite common for white Americans, actually. You can pick one of us at random and have a better than even chance at there being some German somewhere down the line. That and Irish.

And as Far as I know, you don't provoke AoO when you are moving against your will. Unless the kid actually wanted to move that way, which could be the case since Nott didn't roll anything to grab him.
@@dantebzs u can still provoke AoO from movement against your will. Certain spells, like dissonant whispers do so specifically that you do not, while others dont mention it at all. Meaning that the general AoO rules apply, unless otherwise stated

I’ve played dnd for 4 years now and on the rare occasion we have a question on mechanics that we haven’t already memorized deep in the depths of our memory, we know the precise location in the books to go to find said information. If we can do it, Matt can do it 1000 times better.
He might have tabs in his book. Theyre like $1.00 at an office supply store. I have a tab in my PHB at the armor chart in equipment, for example

The artist together with his/her sibling would eventually animate the official intro for M9 campaign a few episodes forward. You will notice the resemblance on the archer tumble.
CR released another version of that intro where the character featured were the VM. However it was animated by someone else and it honestly felt and looked clunky. Missed opportunity to use the one featured here for the VM version.
