FORD V FERRARI Cast and Crew Q&A | TIFF 2019

- Racing cars for a living may be a noble pursuit or absolute folly but it sure as hell is exciting. In this follow-up to his superb Marvel reinvention, Logan, director James Mangold tells the tale of real-life superheroes Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles. Mavericks of the first order, Shelby and Miles commandeered the resources of the mighty Ford Motor Company in the 1960s to go head-to-head with the gods of Italian auto racing. With standout performances from Matt Damon and Christian Bale, this story makes for one of the most electrifying films of the year.
Shelby (Damon) wins France's prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1959, a rare feat for an American. But a weak heart valve stops his career cold, pushing him out of the driver's seat. Miles (Bale) is terrible at running an auto shop but he's a brilliant driver. When Lee Iacocca (Jon Bernthal) comes looking to burnish Ford's family brand with some fast-car sizzle, Shelby and Miles stand as the perfect team to build and race a true competitor to Enzo Ferrari (Remo Girone), who seems to win as easily as he downs an espresso. But can two hot-headed startup guys work with a corporate titan to grab road racing's ultimate prize?
Mangold marshalls the combined talents of his cast and craftspeople to deliver a dazzling rush of entertainment. Director of photography Phedon Papamichael finds new ways to shoot the race scenes to convey their speed and lethal danger. The surround sound puts you right in the driver's seat. But as the film rockets to its nail-biting conclusion, it's the pure drama of people trying to be the very best that wins the day.
I always feel bad for the secondary cast standing there without ever being asked questions lol
I would love to watch the 3 hour 15 minute version of this film.
Some scenes musta been cut, cause on scene filmed at my work had interior scenes in preview but not in actual movie and other locations I had heard about. I'm patiently waiting if this will be included when the DVD gets released.!!!
Caitriona Balfe looks beautiful! She's so gracious and talented - I can't wait to see the movie because of her!
James, Christian and Caitriona all look at Noah like proud parents. :')
When Batman, The Punisher, and Jason Bourne make a movie together, you know it’s gonna be amazing!!
Oh yeah I forgot that 😂 you're right 👉
and actors from wildly popular
The Walking Dead and Outlander!
facts
three of them is very popular actually
The cheers for Bale and Damon! Awwww
Jon Bernthal looks so good in suit
He's such a great actor who no matter how big of a role he gets totally steals the screen when he's in the movie.
😍😍😍
Yeah I'm very grateful he didn't die this time LOL
better than the lady with no boobs and that dress that didnt fit her right. She is supposed to be a model?
chiristian bale=love
Saw the film (11/18/19) . I am a car guy (67) and Shelby fan. A great story well told! Go see this film!
One of the greatest films i have ever seen. Script, Acting, Action sequences, Emotion..&did i mention.. thee cars? 😂. The film was flawless. I put this in a similar league with Apollo 13. Hail to the Director James Mangold and Rob Johnson (vehicle director)
Best film of the year. Good old fashioned rip roaring story told intelligently but with flair and energy about that dying culture..male bonding, friendship , loyalty and ambition...all dirty words in this day and age
Saw it today; I am not a car person, but I loved it
I am excited for this film. The cast is just perfect.
As a Shelby Cobra owner, you can imagine, I'm feeling geeky over this movie! Carol Shelby was half brilliant and half huckster. I hated to see him go a few years back. He really shook the dust out of his bib overalls.
I was in the audience for this - such an amazing movie!
I'm here for Caitriona Balfe.
I have this on DVD . It's briliant . And the casting of Christian and Matt was outstanding
How about releasing "the making of ford and Ferrari" on DVD?
Will that 3 hour 15 minute version be available for public sale?
jon bernthal has such a class
A wonderful movie❤️
Sounds very much like an " uncut" version is a VERY desirable
You heard it when they called Christian bale
I heard " Katrina Bale " !?

Cat's turn starts at 16:19 until 17:11. #outlanderfan
Hah!

lol
The whole time Matt is there looks like is thinking oh my god hurry up I have to go.
Waiting for the movie! From India.
Watched it today. It's very good!
Damon couldn't stress enough the fact that he DOESN'T care about cars...! So no car questions for him folks. REMEMBER....LOL.
There's a lot to what you are saying. Many actors only know, what they need to know in order to play the character in the specific movie with scripted lines. Many, many years ago, I dated a Hollywood actress. She was always good to her fans but mentioned to me, that what most annoyed her, aside from everyone, especially beautiful women, paying more attention to me, an engineer, than her. ...Oh, sorry, I digress. I mean to say, that she said what annoyed her about not just fans, but interviewers, was mixing her up with the characters, whom she played and asking for her "expert" advice, based on a particular character, whom she played in a movie or TV. Like when a Navy admiral asked Lloyd Bridges about the latest scuba diving equipment (for youngsters, Lloyd Bridges played a scuba diver in a popular late '50's/early '60's TV show, called "Sea Hunt"), when Lloyd only knew, what he needed to know in order to play the character and may not have actually known how to scuba dive at the time.
Anyway, Matt is probably making a pre-emptive comment, that he isn't a car guy, so as to minimize questions, such as "Should I use this crankshaft or that one in this particular application?".
Very Good. 👍👍👍🗽🕊🕊🕊🍀🍀🍀
Ford v Ferrari?
hold my Guinness,
Im in.
Make more gearhead movies.😁
Tracy Letts is a G
When will these guys realize that people love cars? Gearheads will go see it regardless of the cast because it's about cars. Might actually be better with unknown actors as it allows the audience to not associate mega stars with the history.
Well said
Race movie?
Hold my Guinness.
Im in.
the movie is so cool
Cars don't interest me at all and any film that has "This v's That" as it's title normally spells disaster, but this is a brilliant film. Do yourself a favor and go see it so you know why Christian Bale wins Best Supporting actor at the Oscars next year
@@ivkekosovo Hi there, sure is!
@@ivkekosovo yeah, my grandfather was Yugoslavian/ Serbian
Is Ken Miles still alive ?
He died at the race track August of 1966 i believe.
Died in a testing crash in 1966 shortly after Le Mans.
Test drive Riverside raceway two months after Le Mans, and Mr Miles ejected from car and died.
Not a car person?
does mangold again go crazy with super close-ups in this film? God that shit was annoying in walk the line and the Yuma movie
Na, not really. Infact I don't remember very many ECU's (Extreme Close Ups) in the movie at all; there's one at the very start with Damon, but that's about it.
#cancelmangold #cancellucasfilm
?
Terrible person to play Shelby!!!
why.. matt was GREAT
