I know someone who has a hotshot trucking setup very similar to this one, with a Ram 5500, and a 40 foot trailer.
hey man you don't hv to get a Federal inspection if you in Texas . Man I passed the storage yard two weeks ago & saw your setup. I had my 40 ft trailer next to your spot, My Ram 5500 made me some icons and you will to. it's a BEAST. Good luck & keep trucking.
We do both in Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania s is harder then the federal 1.its a pain butt the company I'm leased to ,requires it.

Texas State inspection is ok, need to keep the report for both the truck and trailer.
What if you live in texas and want to run across state lines? Do you need a state only or federal? I got a state inspection on both my truck and trailer so am I good to go to different states ?

Hello I have been following you and your wife me and my husband is from Houston we are trying to get started non cdl have my truck and LLC but now I see I have to have a dot number to even start correct
Yes you need both DOT and MC if you plan to operate interstate which is crossing state lines.
MACC what size trailer you running? What do you recommend for a CDL setup.
I recommend 12k axles and up
You can get a texas state inspection if the truck is in companies name. You need a federal inspection if it's in personal name.

I have a question do you think I would need a 4 x 4 truck to do those kinds of jobs? When there is snow do you use your 4 x 4 lot? Cold climates or truck that does not have 4 x 4 can work? Year around?
You dont “need” to have 4x4 to do hotshot. It can definitely come in handy in certain situations but those situations are rare.
Hey man how do you like that shocker hitch? I have a 40ft flatbed and when it's empty it's a violent ride or if I have a piece of equipment on I get that lunging! Does it seem to make the ride a lot better?
That’s exactly what the shocker hitch is for. It definitely takes away most of that jerking for me

From what I was told, you can leave without it bc you operate based on what your state requires. I gotta look further into but for now, I just get them both

Yes, i have the shocker hitch. I wouldnt run without one now!! No fuckin way! The cons? 1) It requires grease constantly. 2) The hitch will bang, like a bad u-joint, if you dont have enough air in the bag. Other than that, its phenomenal. The only problem i see with macc is that the shocker hitch is really only good for 6000 pounds of pin weight. Hes borderline overloading it with any kind of weight on the trailer.

That inspector is full of shit, every commercial vehicle and trailer needs a annual inspection. If he passes a vehicle and DOT or State Police says it should have failed . He can simply lose his license. Not go to jail. WTF?
