Great retrospect of the show but the title is very misleading as I wanted to know if something happened I did not know..shameful click bait.
I'm a teacher that specialized in dealing with students similar to Sheldon. I recognized his quirkuness quickly. It was the first time I was able to laugh in the situation. I learned a new appreciation for my students. It became my mission to uplift them rather than to "fix" them. It gave me hope for their futures. I shared the CDs of the first year with one particular student and his mom told me of his delightful response. " That's me" I think it was the first time he saw himself in a positive, strong light.
I worked 8 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory. These characters really exist!
I’m an old lady, but I loved the BB and still watch reruns. Parsons is a fabulous actor, the writing was fantastic, but my favorite character is Amy. She is a great actor and her comedic acting was so subtle.
Another departure from usual sitcom finale tropes is how, instead of the ensemble characters leaving for a myriad of reasons, like Raj returning to India, Leonard getting a new job, or stuff like that they ended it with them all together in the living room of main apartment. It wasn’t an end to their lives as a family, it was merely the end of us getting a peak into their lives.
Such a great show! And while Sheldon was a hugely popular, unique character, I think it was the combination of characters that was the heart of the show. I believe you put far too much emphasis on Sheldon, and don't give the other stars enough respect. I think that the four boys and Penny had the best on-screen chemistry of any 5 actors in tv or movie history! As much as I miss seeing new episodes, I'm glad the Big Bang Theory ended the way it did, because the loss of any of the original 5 would have been huge. Glad they went out together on a high note!
I can understand the way you can get when you lose a pet that was more than a pet to you. It’s like having a family member pass. You don’t get over it any time soon. I Will remember this show as being one of the great ones, comparing to All in the Family, Happy Days,That 70’s Show and others.Young Sheldon is a great show as well. I miss seeing new shows but I love the reruns.
Although, Sheldon was central to the show, without his supporting cast, it would have been nothing!
It was the best show. I feel like I grew up alongside the cast and actually cried as I laughed and watched the last episode! It was magic and changed our culture in so many great ways. The Big bang Theory made science cool once again and gave a generation permission to geek out and be their authentic selves! What a gem and gift to American culture! 🙏🏻
This was by far the funniest sitcom that I have ever seen. I love how the cast connected with each other, and showed their loving playfulness and snarky remarks, yet also teaching lessons along the way about life. Parsons was the a pitta me of a genius with Aspbergers, or high functioning autism, even though the show never truly connected with that. I will probably binge watch the show for a long, long time!❤️
Brilliantly written show. The writers deserve as many accolades as the actors. Both were done to perfection. One of the all-time great shows!
Loved the show and still watch it, but the writer's are who should get a lot of the credit. The ensemble cast helped make it a hit, no one person.
Well, now it's time for a re-binge! I'm long overdue. Thank you!
Such an incredible group it was on another level The cast were real in sync They were not trying to outdo one another This cast meshed Production workred together You rarely get people humbled without overinflated egos Tv show Nashville was something too Everwood wasnt bad Gotham excellent maybe you can cover them sometime
To me, i think the chemistry of the crew was a big factor in its success. I watch the reruns over and over. Parsons is a really good actor, but my favorite character ended up being Amy. Great show!
Sheldon was classic Asperger syndrome. Brilliant, no social skills, needed routine and order. Thank that is what I saw in Sheldon.
I love that show. Made me laugh all the time . They made nerds stars. Thank you .😊❤
Would have been nice to see raj get married and see someone have kids
I am currently binging the show…had started watching it from the beginning when it came out and then it became sporadic…now I started from beginning and it’s lifted me up from the doldrums!
The best cast everput together ❤️sad when it ended 😢 😔
My ALL.TIME. FAVORITE. Love these guys. The cast couldn't have been better! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
In Australia the first episodes were relegated to a grave yard time of around 1 or 2am. It had yet to attract an audience. Probably the programmers didn't know what to do with it, or anticipate the appeal. When I first saw it back then I knew it had great potential due to its quirky characters, witty dialogue and original ideas.
My favorite show ever! But they should have finally matched Koothrappali up with the love of his life before the end… Just a Loose end I always thought should’ve been tied up. 💕
It's interesting that in it's first season, the original storyline was supposed to be - and was, for awhile - the story of a geeky nerd (Leonard/Galecki) and his pursuit and relationship with the hot, sexy, socially outgoing partygirl (Penny/Cuoco). Sheldon/Parsons was primarily the "straight man". And in the early episodes, Howard/Helberg and Raj/Nayyar were very much bit players used to expand the number of comedic opportunities and make fun of some of the ridiculous things the internet had introduced to Society (MGTOW's, a bit of incel, and echo chambers of every kind that the web had made possible) but they were all so good - including the writers, that there were no real limits to the storylines as both the writers and the actors could perform even difficult nuances, which many actors simply can't do.
My god Jim was 46 years old?!?! He looks like a 20 year old baby face. Great genetics!!! I wish had his genetics
He should have begged the staff to return, but then I'm bias because the supporting cast were becomeing even bigger the Parson! They should have went on without Parson could have been written out by the show, the group as a whole was what made television history. 😢
Love this show.
Right up there with Cheers. Props for knowing when to drop curtain.
I enjoyed this thankyou for posting.
My husband, our son and his family and our grandson are still rewatching (many times) not only the TBBT series but are also avid fans of young Sheldon
We love Alf and we have, of course always loved Ryan, but we love them both so much more now!!! Dreams do come true!!! We've been loving watching Alf again!!!
I am glad the show ended on such a high note. TBBT will carry on eternally in syndication!
I completely understand how the death of someone's very beloved dog could be a catalyst for something totally unexpected. I think any dog mommy or dog daddy would agree.
Honestly I always thought the main character was Leonnard ...
He has made the bridge between the "normal" world and the geek/nerd world and he gets the girl :-)
And I thought the show was mainly about the struggle to balance his annoying super special needs roommate (but old friend) and the real world
My comment is short and direct... This comedy works worldwide. Brits could follow the mirth and storylines as easily as the American audience. This is why I instantly took to it even though I didn't watch it until AFTER it had finished. Yet knowing it will never come back has meant my enjoyment is short and sweet and NOTHING has replaced it for me.
I so wish I could've met the cast and writing crew at the San Diego Comic Con!
Sheldon and Penny made this show.!!!! ....and the writers too.!!!!
I really appreciate your videos and their summaries. I have no idea why but The Big Bang is absolutely my most favorite comedy series. Just very insightful and funny. Xx
Sheldon Cooper was absolutely the best part of this series.
My Husband's name was Sheldon Lee K. Won't tell his last name. Jim Parsons' character drew me and my Family's deep interest. I think my late husband had a lot of his personality traits. My Husband was Extremely Handsome , 6'6" tall, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, nearly black. My Husband was the Art Specialist at his primary Magnet School. Jim Parsons is handsome too.
I grew to love this show so much. Many episodes I watched over and over. I disliked how Rajish continued being an awkward stereotype. , all the other characters grew into better versions of themselves.
Which will destroy his future acting chances
I think TBBT could have continued for few more years, maybe even 5 or more years even without Sheldon. They could have written off the character and continued the show with the rest of the cast. No need to replace Sheldon with another character. Not fair for the rest of the cast members to end the show. The whole cast was that good to successfully continue the show. But I don't blame Jim Parsons for wanting to leave the show, everybody at some point may want to leave a particular job for various reasons. Maybe he was bored of it or couldn't take the rigors and demands of an incredibly popular and successful show. After the end of the show which he caused, Jim has faded into obscurity and hopefully a slow and peaceful life. Maybe that's what he wanted. There was talk of Jim doing Broadway plays after leaving TBBT, but it doesn't seem to have panned out for him. But did I miss it? ... "The Infamous Scene ....that made Parsons quit the show."
Sheldon and Penny my favourites 😄
Sheldon was not the focus, he was rhe punch line. Wow what a rewrite of reality
I'm Thunderstruck that they never had Jaleel White (Steve Urkel) on the show as a guest/cameo character.
Must have been hard for Parsons to leave the show, knowing it would very likely not continue without him. But you can only keep doing something for so long when you really feel you have to move on.
I ❤ Penny, not the actress, the character. I am deeply in love with Penny and have been for over a decade. 😍
A testament to our poor taste
We love the cast of TBBT❤❤❤❤
Funniest show on TV in a looooong time!!!❤
Wow... Blossom got another job!
As someone with autism, I always appreciated Parsons' portrayal of exactly someone with autism.
I was long made to feel like something was a bit off with me because I'm introverted, because so much of TV, etc, is centered around extroverts being loud and brash and seeking to be popular. After suffering through big parties where I couldn't find enjoyment in getting drunk and acting like an idiot along with the mob, I came to realize that what I valued were deep, intimate relationships with others, not with surrounding myself with as many people as possible in shallow interactions. While I'd never lump myself in with nerds and geeks, what I found refreshing about the Big Bang Theory is that it reflected how people can find fulfillment in other ways, like in personal accomplishment instead of the number of Facebook friends, and still have strong relationships. And yet, I see kids these days who are in every way intellectually normal, but just happen to be introverted, getting branded with such labels as "high-functioning autistic". I've seen autistic. Sheldon is autistic. Some of these kids are not. But they are being taught to not just feel different, but to label themselves as being abnormal, while extroverts who do things like suffer in school and work performance and intimate relationships because going out and being popular is so important to them don't receive a similar label of somehow being dysfuncational. So, in a way, things have gotten worse since I was a kid.
People are so constituted that everybody would rather undertake what they see others do, whether they have an aptitude for it or not.
over the years i have seen many shows on t v. this one is at the top of my list.
Sheldon has reincarnated as Chocolate Lab living in the West of Scotland.
That was a good show. 👍
Parson's acting ability was amazing...I don't know how he did it for so long
I liked The Big Bang Theory, but I wouldn't say it "forever changed the world of sitcoms" LOL
Who DOESN'T understand that Sheldon is autistic?
Bazinga!
You have no right to call yourself creative until you look at a trowel and think that it would make a great lockpick.
I'm an INTP. One who's better at math and literature than understanding social situations. There is a trade between being smart in social situations and knowing the difference between a dactyl meter and an anapest meter. My best success in social situations is cracking a joke at my own expense. Never be too proud. With a 125 IQ, it has brought down my social IQ every time I've forgotten what I've gone to the store to get. That happens. Characters such as Sheldon are relatable.
Nodded off. Awoke to the same drip who caused me to nod off.
Jim Parsons made a SELFISH decision, not considering his co-workers financial needs or the fans' needs. He could have asked for a smaller role.. like times when hed be "out of town" on business etc.
I haven’t seen any of them doing anything else since.
still a good show
They removed the reruns in our channel lineup and replaced it with something else. :(
Great show, as good as MASH
It is better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
If you can be an astronaut...be an astronaut
Love Jim parson but I hated the character of Sheldon I could not understand why he got away with so much and I love Penny and Leonard l and all of the characters Sheldon going to a jail cell and telling the others that's my spot never would happen
I've only seen three episodes .
Loved the show but we you binge watch it sheldon does get very annoying kind of getting tired of watching him
I hated Sheldon. Sheldon was annoying af.
Amen
Sheldon was ok but the reason most people I know watched was because of. Penny
lol it was just proven the real Big Bang never even happened. Good thing the show ended before that lol
Sheldon was my least fav on the show.Leonard Hofstadter/ Bernadette Rostenkowski/Barry Kripke/Stuart Bloom/Amy Farrah Fowler/Raj Koothrappali were some of my fav for having to put up with Sheldon. I think the show should come back with everyone but him that is how much Sheldon annoyed me.
I mean, the show was over a decade old. American sitcoms always run way too long until they’re an overbeaten dead horse and they almost always jump the shark.
Few shows like Seinfeld know when to really call it quits.
The worst example being the Simpsons. When it finally ends it die with the faintest of whimpers. It will be lucky if it even pulls in3 million for the series finale. Pitiful when in its heyday it used to average 15 million or more viewers. Now it barely averages 2 million viewers.
Actually, it was the woke stupidity that killed the show, being unable to mock practically ... anything
They should have kept going without Parsons. Honestly, he sometimes took the magic away from the show and stopped it dead in its tracks.
It started going down when they let Raj start talking to women and all of the homosexual innuendos they tried to sneak in. I still watch it but the last year or so was garbage, they were just winging it.
The Big Collapse
Always wanted to slap Sheldon, he drove me crazy and I didn't get why all the cast allowed him to use them in all aspects of the show. no real life person would do that.
Definitely a soy filled Zoomer show lol.
well honestly the show went downhill after howard got a wife and kid and amy and sheldon became too normal of a couple and penny and leonard too.
they lost all the magic and became ordinary.
Sheldon was not everyone's favorite. The whole cast made that show.. You have put too much attention and credit to him. I agree with Buck below..Parsons was done, The others were not so much.
The later seasons weren't nearly as good as the early ones. Marrying off Howard was a first mistake. It removed all options to make fun of his failed attempts to find a girlfriend. The domestication of Sheldon may correlate with personal growth, but it was neither funny nor entertaining. The show had peaked long before the end. At its high points, it was superb. While the actors (especially Parsons, Cuoco, and Helberg) were fantastic, the writers have received too little credit, AFAIC. When the quality of their scripts dropped and the actors apparently became a little too complacent, the show was done.
Jim Parsons quit as Sheldon but not really because he had Young Sheldon to fall back on. I still feel Big bang would have been fine without him.
Jim Parsons is an outwardly gay man... and he will always be SHELDON..lets see if the roles come pouring in. He should have milked it as long as he could
Actually, only Jim Parsons has been in good productions of film or series.👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
i don't know about all that shit l watched cuz at one point Penny was pretty hot
So it was jims choice to be over. HUMM. To be honest it could of went on with out him
Sorry, Just cant believe anything that comes out of his month.
my son has Asperger's and hates the Sheldon character.
That show sucked never found it funny
😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤😂❤
Any good actor does this he is nothing special
This should be renamed The Big Sheldon Cooper Theory…I think Simon Helberg was funnier.
I hate this show!! Sorry!
