I can’t believe you you put wicked in last place over Emilia Perez.I also strongly disagree about Ariana grande I think she was the highlight of the film.
I couldn't get past 20 minutes of it, I wish someone could explain why to watch another 2:30+ hours. It felt really boring and unappealing. Can you sell it to me, just so I can face the challenge of trying it again?
I accept every opinion except the idea that Emilia Perez isn't last, that's abit harsh isn't it? Like you are very valid in not liking Wicked but worse than Emilia Perez? I wouldn't wish that on my enemies but it's not my list, this is though: 1. Conclave 2. Nickle Boys 3. Wicked 4. I'm Still Here 5. The Substance 6. Anora 7. Dune: Part Two 8. A Complete Unknown 9. The Brutalist . . . . . . . 10. Emilia Perez
yeah, i think emilia is directed so much more interestingly than wicked, and i like the acting more. better pacing too. but emilia perez is still bad lol, terrible writing, meh songs. wicked had some good songs at least. wicked is so visually boring beyond some cool staging in its musical sequences.
Was it the thing that went unexplained to you in I'm Still Here the fact that the son appears on a wheelchair at the end? Because if it is, well, I suppose that was a choice from the author of the book the film adapted, since that character was supposed to be him. He doesn't hide his status as a disabled person but doesn't overdivulge it either, I for one had no idea he was disabled before I watched the movie, I only knew him as an author. And also the book itself is much more about his mother's struggle than about him especifically, and since the accident he suffered had nothing to do with the major storyline, my guess is that he didn't want to use it as a plot point beside a couple of lines explaining that for people who didn't know that detail about him, both as a way to naturalize that sometimes people do become disabled and to not switch the focus on Eunice onto him. (I don't know if this could be considered a spoiler since it's the known condition of a public figure, but I digress)
yep, that’s it! i thought it was cool that you just see him using one and didn’t before. but then they have a random fan ask him to sign her book and mention the accident, which felt out of place. thanks for the context!
Marcelo Rubens Paiva, author of the book I'm still here, son of Eunice Paiva and Rubens Paiva, wrote a hugely successful book in the 80s, "Feliz Ano Velho". In this work, he narrates the accident that left him quadriplegic at the age of 20, and what his life was like afterwards. He also wrote several other books and chronicles for various vehicles.
If Emilia Perez wins best picture, all good will for the Oscars will be lost, especially after quite literally everybody involved with this film COUGH..Karla…COUGH….Jacques have been outed as EXTREME racists.
Thank you for your thoughts! I still haven't seen most of these so The Substance is an easy number one for me. I enjoyed Dune part II more than you, but I agree on how great Memoir of a Snail is, and I've added Spermworld to my watchlist.
I haven't seen Nickel Boys or I'm Still Here yet, but of the 8 i have seen i would say i would rank them as following with what I'd give them out of 10 next to them! 1. The Brutalist - 10/10 2. Anora - 8/10 3. The Substance - 8/10 Notable gap between these 3 and the other 5. 4. Conclave - 5/10 5. Dune Part 2 - 5/10 6. Wicked Part 1 - 4/10 7. A Complete Unknown - 4/10 8. Emilia Pérez - 3/10
Dude, when the film I'm Still Here arrives in your region, try watching it, the film is beautiful, moving and very well done, I'm sure that after watching I'm Still Here, you'll put it on your ranking list, at least among the Top 5, and can even move up positions.
@@wilson165806 very much looking forward to I'm Still Here! Although it might actually come out AFTER the Oscars air where I'm at unfortunately lmao. But I imagine it's better than at least everything I'd rank from 4-8.
1° The Brutalist 2° Dune Part 2 3° Conclave 4° I’m Steel Here 5° Anora 6° Wicked 7° A Complete Unknown 8° Nickel Boys 9° The Substance 10° Emília Pérez
I respect your opinion. Even tho I STRONGLY disagree with what you said about solo and ford v ferrari. Great vid tho. And hearing you swear is not something I expected 😂
I didn't see a lot of the nominated movies so I watched Anora the other night- Unbelievable film, I was riveted the whole time. Mikey Madison deserves the nomination and I would be happy if she won, although it sounds like it's already going to Demi Moore
I don't agree that A Completel Unknown feels long. It went by incredibly fast for me and It felt an hour shorter than it was (maybe because I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan so the subject interested me so much). Still my least favorite of the 3 nominees I've seen (the others are Anora and The Substance).
SOME INFORMATION 💎 I'm Still Here is the first Portuguese-spoken movie to be nominated to the Oscar of Best Picture and the sixth that was nominated to Best Foreign Language (the fifth representing Brazil). 💎 Fernanda Torres's mother, Fernanda Montenegro was the first latin actress nominated to the Oscar of Best Actress (Katy Jurado, Rita Moreno and Norma Aleandro had already been nominated as Supporting Actress) and, to date, she was the only Portuguese-spoken actor nominated to the award, but her daughter just repeated this. That was in 1999, with the movie Central Station, also directed by Walter Salles and nominated to Best Foreign Language Film. 💎 Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello and Fernanda Montenegro played in Four Days in Septemper, brazilian movie nominated to the Oscar of Best Foreign Language Film in 1998, also about brazilian dictatorship period. 💎 Fernanda Torres, aged 20, won the award for Best Actress at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival by the movie Love Me Forever or Never (tied with Barbara Sukowa, by Rosa Luxemburg). She was the first brazilian actress (of two) to win an award in Cannes. The second one was Sandra Corveloni that, coincidentally, was directed by Walter Salles. 💎 Fernanda Torres was the fourth brazilian actor nominated to Golden Globe, but the second with a Portuguese-spoken performance. The first one was her mother. The other nominees were Sônia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Moon Over Parador and The Burning Season) and Wagner Moura (Narcos). 💎 Fernando Torres, father of Fernanda Torres (yes, they got the same name), played in Kiss of Spider Woman (4 nominations to the Oscar 1986, William Hurt won Best Actor) 💎 I'm Still Here is the fourth movie of Walter Salles to be nominated to the Golden Globe of Best Foreign Language Film (Central Station won, and the other nominees were Behind the Sun and Motorcycle Diaries) and the second nominated to the Oscar of the same category (Central Station was the first) 💎 Fernanda Torres gained a pop star quality in Brazil because her performances in the sitcoms Normal People and Slaps and Kisses.

I have to agree - I despise musicals, I found Wicked good, but I loved Ariana's performance! She was so funny
this tragic ass ranking-
I WARNED YA
Nice video. Still waiting for Nickel Boys coming to theaters near me, i'm soooo excited to watch it.

And I gotta say the Brutalist was just phenomenal, loved it so much.

Wait? Wicked last place? But you said that conclave is the most boring and a complete unknown and emilia pérez
wicked had more things that annoyed me, conclave and a complete unknown were better made films imo
Awesome! Ranking videos for movies! 🎉
Would you ever do rankings based off of studios or directors?
plan to :)
It is interesting, I can absolutely agree with you on almoust everything on the list, but Dune 2 is just number one for me.
fair enoughhhh
My brazilian heart says I'm still here #1, but my brain says Anora (still haven't watched The Brutalist)

1º) I'm still here!!! Fernanda Torres.
she’s greattt
Emília Perez should not have been nominated at first. The movie is horrible. The only deserving nominees are Zoe Saldana and Original song.
Also, the substance is going to win
i wouldnt mind that
So you think Wicked is worse than Emilia Pérez? Okay, I’ll respect your opinion
yeah as a movie lol, technical and entertainment level. emilia perez’s direction is a lot more interesting and it has better pacing
I notmally can't stand conservative actors, but I unironically love Dennis Quad as Harvey.
