The thing with Society of the snow is that it was directed trying to make justice to the real story. It's a very intense movie, but that's because the real situation was just as intense, imagine living your whole life normally and then you're caught in a plane eating people alongside friends and strangers for weeks... the thought got me hooked to the movie and left me thinking about it for days, knowing they were real people and that the events are pretty much 1 on 1 with reality made all the difference, which usually is not the case with other disaster biopic movies
I am making a face of horror here, just reading you and contemplating that being a part of my life. What a horror to live through, what an unlikely but very real scenario. Just wow!
i love how everyone can agree that society of the snow deserved a much better recognition. the movie is a masterpiece, and did justice for the survivors. heck, even the actual survivors played a small part of the film. i was shocked that it didn't win an oscar, at least it got nominated.
To have a real shot at wining Best International Film, a key sign is multiple nominations in more than one category (like The Zone of Interest, Quiet On The Western Front, etc.). It shows that many members of the academy watched it, that it was popular, that they liked it a lot 👈🏼 All of this means high chances of a win. Come awards night, if it begins winning those tech categories, you’ve got yourself a clear Best International Film winner. When I saw that it only got the one nom, I knew this wasn’t the winner, no matter how good the film is.
There's a channel called "When The Pictures Got Bigger" that is in the process of doing exactly that. He's covered 3 different Oscar ceremonies so far.

Also with the animation I feel like it was just as if not more detailed than the boy in the heron, especially the when the mumbattan universe and spider society scenes show up but I digress!!
Not trying to write a whole essay or anything, just saying my piece lol. Fun video tho!
Mad props for the two Cheeto related puns during the flaming hot section without even acknowledging them
Number one Karsten on FamousBirthdays now!
When you said "for the first time ever" at the start, I thought you were gonna say you weren't sponsored by MUBI lol
That’s dedication…especially w/the best original song films…I just listen to the songs, not watch the movie😂
I always do this every year! Please make this a tradition 🥺
Another banger by the second most famous Karsten
15:55 it deserves the best visuals by far. Give respect for Minus One
7:50 Ah you must've missed Suzume earlier that year, tt made so many scenes in The Boy and The Heron predictable,
Finally someone else who recognizes that Our Uniform is better than Pachyderm.
Our Uniform is like a mini-Persepolis
I’ve finally got around to doing this, I just have to finish the live action shorts category
Best method of Oscar rankings. Ever!
THANK YOU!! Spider-Man did deserve a Best Score Nomination and I’ll never shut up about it.
35:39 Coleman Domingo was also evil af in Zola.
I was really impressed by the Ukrainian documentary film "20 days in Mariupol"!
My favourites were killers of the flower moon and society of The snow
godzilla being so low is shocking
Was that a Rapsittie Street Kids reference in the ad read? 😊
28:55 "Pablo Larrain's second film in a row to land in this category"
Spencer wasn't nominated for best cinematography; actually, no other Larrain film has been previously nominated for Best Cinematography
Damn, tried to do this myself but there are like 6 or 7 of these films that are just impossible to see in Canada so I had to give up :( great video!!
I really disliked Oppenheimer's editing.
It just felt like I was watching a trailer for much of the movie and I struggled to get into it. I was just waiting for an actual scene to start.
My assumption on Dial of Destiny getting a nomination is because it’s John Williams last movie, though I definitely disagree with the nom.
I also disagree with the nomination. John Williams should've picked the better film to score tbh.
I saw them all apart from Robot Dreams. Past Lives (which won nothing) was my favorite, War Is Over! was my least favorite (which won Best Animated Short), which shows how much I know.
Emma Stone over Lily for me, but I'm sure the Academy will give it to Lily because she's the first Native American to be nominated. But I believe Emma Stone deserves it for Poor Things. What she did with Bela's character is beautiful. Also, Poor Things for Best Picture but I'm sure the Academy will choose Oppenheimer because, well, it's Oppenheimer.
