- I had originally did this little off the cuff animation project almost, if not 10 years ago at this point. So I decided, the original was looking dated and I wanted to see what I could do with it now... so here it is, in full HD. :D Some things have been changed, such as certain audio effects so they were replaced (don't shoot me. :P) Thanks for viewing.
Original release can be seen in the link below:

I still say the Enterprise Refit is the most lovely ship design of all. Well done on a lovely animation.
I will agree up to the point where the Disco Enterprise is a fairly well-realized combination of every version of the original Enterprise that has ever been visualized on screen. If there is one thing that Disco has "gotten right", it's the exterior of the Enterprise.
Not bad, but I prefer the original.;-)
@@michalslatina8004 i prefer Enterprise E, each to their own.
@@GamingMagic3280 I insanely LOVE Sovereign class...masterpiece of design. But I still prefer original.:)))))
@@michalslatina8004 well each to their own. We're all different and unique and have valid opinions. 😁🖖
I much prefer this slower, methodical type of combat for Star Trek over the overloaded, furious fighter fests from the Kelvin timeline and Discovery. Less is more. Also, the Enterprise refit is still hands down the most beautiful ship from any Star Trek.
yes!
You did a great job of making the starships look particularly bright and majestic.
That's something I don't like about the new series--how darkly everything is lit. Haven't the showrunners ever seen orbital NASA footage?
@@eXcommunicate1979 Well, lighting all depends on environment, not every scene is centered around Earth with a star that close.
@@ChrissonatorOFL Agreed, but most are.
KIRK: “Thanks for the assist, Captain Sulu.”
SULU: “Don’t mention it, Captain Kirk. Take care. Excelsior out.”
That was the USS Lakota NCC-42768 only known on DS9 episode "Homefront" commanded by Captain Erika Benteen.
@@moondoggieist Perhaps. But I think it's meant to be the Excelsior.
Kirk: "Captain Sulu! As much to the crew of the Enterprise, I owe you my thanks."
Sulu: "Nice to see you in action one more time, Captain Kirk. Take care."
*Excelsior breaks off and flies away*
McCoy: "My God, that's a big ship."
Scott: "Not so big as her captain, I think."
I have that scene burned into my memory, since ST:VI is my favorite of all the Trek movies.
@@FQP-7024 No, this is the Lakota.
@@gearcheck101 By registry number, yes. But one other ship had that same hull configuration, and it was the Enterprise-B
Pure starship porn. Never seen such beautiful "homegrown" ships. Sir, you are a legend.
The Enterprise Refit will forever be my most favorite ship design.
Recognize the Music from the old Interplay Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy games.
I recognized the music from Starfleet Academy immediately. I played that game often and occasionally still do. Very convincing animation. Thanks for the upload.
This is extremely well done. I think my favorite part was seeing both the Enterprise-A and the Excelsior traveling at warp speed. I miss the old shooting-star effect. And something made my heart leap when the Excelsior was shown heading out to help. I'd love to think they shared at least one adventure together.
"An Excelsior". Not "the" Excelsior.
(That's the USS Lakota)
The Excelsior did show up to rescue the Enterprise in Star Trek VI. They got over their rivalry in the end and became the best of sisters.
You’ve made the Enterprise look absolutely stunning. Well done indeed.
I like that the combat is slow and evokes feelings that those ships are putting out titanic amounts of thrust to move at all.
"Captain, we've dropped out of warp, directly into a MEATBALL field!"
Can't seem to find any good asteroid tutorials... so, I do my best.
Phaser and beam off a big chunk and the crew will be eating good tonight
“The galley will be serving Italian food until further notice.”
DS9 used a lump of dog poop for the intro.
" Don't worry we'll soon get ' pasta ' it lieutenant
I loved the way the ships were rendered. It was very well done, and fun video to watch.
Qa Pla to my fellow Klingons. Good graphics, but no Klingon captain would let any ship fire upon it and not fight to the death.
This looks like a video game I would absolutely love to play
It reminds me of Star Trek Starfleet Academy but remastered like this would be awesome 👌
And that's how you make Star Trek battles! Slow, but clear and elegant!
The thickness of the stars streaks whizzing by while at warp is actually my favorite depiction of going at warp. I also like how you did not overdo the motion blur like so many other fan CGI projects out there.
Looks very professional, extremely well done. It wouldn't look out of place in one of the TV shows or movies.
It was neat seeing the Generations-style Excelsior hull.
Good job. The Enterprise-A is beautiful.
This looks pretty incredible.
Using the.deflector dish to break up the Klingon force.field is a throw back to Star Trek 7's use of it.
Still very good. Really a testament to how well Trek projects stand up to time. Have the Refit NCC-1701-A sitting on my desk along with smaller versions of TOS- NCC-1701, D, and Kelvin Full display. That I found 11 years ago in a Target clearance isle. They look great. Waiting for our 35 Y.O. Son to finish NX-01. Very detailed and good sized. Will be 3rd largest of the ships. Very nice to have.
Reminds me of just what a wonderful design the 'ST-TMP' Enterprise was. Stellar work in this video. Thank you.
Excelsior class is the sexiest of all ships. Both those ships are by far my favourites as far as design
Great job 👏 it's films like this making me wish for more vintage trek shows
A fan can do this in his own home....yet the Picard show gives us a fleet of identical ships that are a mess that looks like the mess that Michael Bay gave us in the Transformers movie ? A mishmash of random metallic parts flying all over the place and you can't tell what is what.
Say what you will about the Transformers in the Michael Bay movies, but at least there was originality and diversity in their designs as opposed to that mess we saw on Picard.
Lighten up Francis! 😜
Loved the use of Starfleet Academy music
Also used as the SFC1 game music
Beautifully crafted, Chris!
The TMP Enterprise looks good with modern color grading!
That could almost be a movie about one of my missions from back in the day when I was playing Starfleet Command. The Music and sound effects are certainly reminiscient of that.
The music sounds like it’s from the old Starfleet command games.
You know, I was thinking the same thing!
I miss those games😢
That was definitely from the first or second Starfleet command game from the 90s.I spent many hours listening to that on a loop LOL
The music is from the game Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, and the sound effects are (mostly) from Star Trek: Klingon Academy
that is some fantastic looking cg, really well done
This was very well done. So professional--almost thought you worked for Paramount. Seriously!
Great lighting, very screen accurate. But the Enterprise was more pearlescent before they painted over it for the later movies.
I know, since this is the -A I'd stick to the look the model had by then. I have a model that properly reflects the look of the TMP model, but I went with this one instead.
Good call, I didn't check the registry
Beautiful work. Very impressive. Must have been a true labour of love. Never can tire of seeing the 1979 Enterprise redesign. Such a majestic looking starship.
Particularly like that recreation of the parting of the ways from the last scene of the Undiscovered Country, with Enterprise A and Excelsior side by side. Reminds me of McCoy exclaiming; "My god that's a big ship!". Great stuff.
Excellent work here. a tiny nit pic though, the style of phaser beam is TNG era and not TMP, still excellent quality.
Story clarification: The Enterprise goes to warp to chase after the Klingons, but then exits warp back where they came from? i get that the Lakota is called in to finish the Klingon chase, but the travels of the Enterprise are confusing, since we we never see it turn around.
Yea, the original video had text narration, but I left them out in this remastering of it.
@@ChrissonatorOFL Ah, I see. thanks for clearing that up. Cool stuff, otherwise- both Refits are gorgeous.
It is always good to see these two ladies working together.
Great stuff man. Glad to see you're still doing these animations.
This reminds me of when I used to play 'Klingon Academy". Great video, better than T.V. ,that's for sure.
Magnificent! Amazing work mate, well done!
I like the call back to the Starfleet Command video game with the music. The models are awesome as well.
That's not the Excelsior. The registry is different.
Yea, I made it the USS Lakota which is an Excelsior-class ship, albeit the refit one.
@@ChrissonatorOFL The USS Lakota is a 24th Century Starship.
@@southernontariorailfan Not necessarily. The Excelsior refit design dates back to the early 2290s. It's possible that the Lakota could've been commissioned just prior to the Enterprise-B if we infer that this video takes place just before the events of Star Trek VI (2293). They only made a limited number of the refits as opposed to the far more numerous baseline Excelsiors.
Bravo! It would be great for a fan group to add characterization to this! It was an interesting adventure. Also, the music reminded me a lot of that Starfleet Command game. Great work!
music from starfleet academy and starfleet command. good choice :D
we can see the young uss lakota
I do love the effects of how the Enterprise exited from warp.
You could teach Alex Kurtzman a thing or two. Great job 👍
Enterprise: "You just hang in there Klingon! I am going to fetch my big brother!" 😁😁😁😁😁😁
most awesome you guys did great lighting was awesome models very awesome please keep it up thank you for all the hard work
Very nicely done and I do like how it updates the original video. Thank you!
I don't think we'd see the Lakota and the 1701-A on active duty at the same time.
Perhaps not, I mean, the Enterprise B was launched in 2293, which was the same year the Enterprise 1701-A was decommissioned... so it's possible that some random convergence of events made it possible.
Loved it!
Fantastic work. The Enterprise A looks amazing. My all time favorite Star Trek ship. So much better looking than The Discovery. Love the glowing light effects. Brilliant fly by shots and attention to detail. Bravo!
You used the Lakota you naughty boy. :)
Still though, fantastic to watch - thoroughly enjoyed it.
Only because I couldn't find a high res Excelsior model at the time. lol
@@ChrissonatorOFL Vanishingpoint has a nice excelsior model in their freebie section, now. :)
@@ChrissonatorOFL Don't worry about it. The Lakota could very well have been in service around 2293, just prior to the commissioning of the Enterprise-B. 🖖😎
1:53 the angle of the shots is wrong. The BOP would have to be firing behind itself for that to work.
The camera angle is deceiving.
Visually it's wonderful, but audibly the background music is much too quiet in comparison to the sound effects.
AWESOME JOB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NCC 1701-A the best looking starship ever
ships are stunning & awesome lighting effects.
love the Klingon Bird of Prey & the chunky Excelsior class (lovely starship in my humble opinion)
But......no ship competes with the elegant & beautiful USS Enterprise - the re-fit & NCC1701A is by far the best.version of Enterprise. she looks awesome
Looks damn near close to the actual models
Show the Crews that's what Star Trek is about not just the outside set pieces
I recognize those weapon and shield sound effects from SFC :) Nicely done!
Very well done!!! Thank you!
awesome! there's enough footage there to do a full length episode, interspersed with a live set and actors. Would make an awesome short film!
The Undiscovered Weapon
Wow for a minute there I thought someone would finally show maneuvers at warp speed and fighting at warp ugh 😩 Nonetheless a fantastic effort thank you
Yea, I hadn't thought of fighting during warp when I originally made this, so the remastered version here is almost identical to the original.
Warp fighting wasn’t all so common until you had things like the Picard maneuver. The greatest maneuver of them all nobody can deflect it
Matt`s Mocs you don’t know what your talking about
I don't remember the Excelsior class having four huge impulse engines. That would be too much power even for what became known as the workhorse of the Federation.
It's the refit, from Generations, saw in later series like DS9.
At 2:55 when the Excelsior is leaving spacedock, the Earth doesn't show any barrier anymore. Was this supposed to have taken place before the Klingons arrived?
The planet being attacked isn't Earth.
Haven't seen this one and I've been subbed to your channel for some months now. I love the lighting on the ship's hulls. Very reminiscent of how ILM lighted the ships back then. The Excelsior lighting and surface materials looks just like in ST II or III (can't remember which one it was).
What were your render times per frame?
Excellent work!
Hmmmm, they were anywhere from a few seconds to a minute and a half... A lot of the time came from compositing passes together.
@@ChrissonatorOFL That can be very time consuming!
Good scientific movie.,Starrek is one of my fevorrite.,Here in Philippines.!
Really nice work
You guys did a great job! Thank you for posting. You have a new subscriber. 😀
This was Awesome.
nice but i would love to see you put that shield effect 1:34 on the star ship instead of that boring bubble shield
Nicely done effects, but it really wouldn't make sense for the Klingon bird of prey to decloak and attack the _Enterprise._ A bird of prey attacking a _Constitution_ class ship would be like a 20th century destroyer attacking a battleship: suicide.
In STIII, Commander Kruge admitted that he was so heavily outgunned that he thought something must be wrong for the Federation starship _not_ to have blown him out of the sky (he was right: the _Enterprise_ had no crew aboard, was heavily battle-damaged from the fight with Khan, and running on a jerry-rigged automation system that Scotty never intended for combat). And in STVI, General Chang only lasted because his bird of prey was able to fire while cloaked. As soon as the _Enterprise_ was able to get a torpedo to lock on, the smaller Klingon ship _was_ instantly blown out of the sky.
Eh, could be rogue Klingon high on his shit. 😎
Well, because the ship has no shields while cloaked. So they hit Chang's ship while cloaked and unshielded, which disabled it, so they couldn't raise their shields.
Love the animation. But the Enterprise only firing one torpedo seems alittle to slow for Kirk as captain. Great video though.
Amazing work....
Just wondering but why did the enterprise go to warp leaving earth only to drop out of warp back at earth?
The Enterprise wasn't leaving Earth or arriving at Earth.
Beautiful
That class is excelsior only has the two outer impulse decks lit not four of them lit all at once
Ehhh...
movies.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/generationshd/generationshd0192.jpg
I really loved your video, but I have a question. Why are the nacelles of the Enterprise 1701-A, purple? In all of the Star Trek movies, they are always blue. And I thought that your warp sequence, was a little confusing, (where you first have the Enterprise enter warp to pursue the Klingon Bird of Prey, and then you had the Excelsior-class starship go into warp, then suddenly the Enterprise drops out of warp at Earth?) When did the Enterprise turn back? Other than those two things, this video was amazing, the cgi effects are awesome!
They were lit with ultraviolet lamps, which resolve as blue on most cameras. :)
Super! I have model of Ent.-B on my shelf.;-)
Enterprise out guns a BOP 10-1.
Shouldnt even be a contest nor require an assist
Well, we're going to assume it's similar to the BOP in STVI... :P
There are two different classes of Bird of Prey. The B'rel, which is basically the small scout class, with a crew of about a dozen. But there is also the K'Vort, which can be classified as either a Destroyer or a Battlecruiser. It is significantly larger and stronger with more weaponry. Think the Rotarran, Martok's command ship from DS9. Considering this BoP is fairly large compared to the Excelsior model, I will deduce that this is in fact a K'Vort variant, not a B'rel.
@@k1productions87 The K'Vort's wingspan was almost as wide as the Galaxy's saucer. Also from what I remember, the K'Vort's wings are fixed in the upright flight position, whereas the B'rel wings were variable. Probably not a K'Vort here.
@@tkardaishou in canon, the K'Vort should still be able to move its wings. We see the Rotarran coming in with wings down in "A Call to Arms", we just don't see the wings move because the mechanism that controlled them on the original model had busted
@@k1productions87 I don't think the Rotarran is a K'Vort. In "Call to Arms," we see the Defiant and the Rotarran side by side, and they're the same size.
There was a old render, a model, from Starfleet command 3. The Hecate. I'd give a ton to see you bring the old girl to life.
Pretty cool, Good job.
Well done !
I loved it.
Joke's on you, Federation! That's the Prikkikki-ti homeworld!
The music reminds me of Starfleet Command. Overall wonderful
I was thinking Starfleet Academy for the music but it does sound familiar!
you animated all of this? thats extremely cool! love your works!
When in doubt, central deflector.
I like the video, but did you purposely make the Constitution class star ship so weak against a single bird of prey when in Star Trek III this same ship showed how afraid the Klingon's were to engage it. I also didn't understand how it gave chase to the Bird of Prey only to drop out of warp back at the planet? Then it used its main deflector dish to destroy (I guess a shield) which failed but it worked for the Excelsior class which also used their main defector? What happened to the Bird of Prey? Good graphics, not so good a story
excellent fantastic
Oh how I’ve missed the music to starfleet academy.
and Starfleet Command
I'm going to be that guy and say I prefer the Ambassador Class.
@Chris Cunningham Looks great. What software you have used for this rendering?
3D Studio Max for the rendering, and After Effects for the compositing and effects.
@@ChrissonatorOFL I wonder because of the high quality. Wow...3D Studio Max? A lot of bugs, are you doing this for living? Btw. some coole effects, good camera view point and trackings. It could easily be used in a professional production.
The only part I dislik is 1:52 - 2:00 this fireing part looks somehow wrong because of the path they traced and pointing. And the Klingon is to near during fireing at the Enterpise the following fly by seems somehow also wrong. I would rework this part. However the rest are state of the art. I hope you will continue and develope your amzing talent. Would like to se much more from you. I could imagine see you in the cinema industrie - if you aren't already there :-)
Ok, what's stopping you from contacting Eugene and doing this legit. Already better than the script from Discovery.
2:12 Oh, bullshit... ONE torpedo?? Uh, no, phaser barrage, and about 8 torps... C'mon!
This isn't a JJ Abrams or TNG movie...
@@ChrissonatorOFL Hey, dumbass, are you ignoring the Wrath of Khan? Or, Undiscovered Country? To say nothing of Star Fleet Battles?
@@ChrissonatorOFL Oh, and for your information, it took a lot more than just one torpedo to sink the Bismarck, or the Yamato. Learn some tactics.
Nicely done. What did you use to create the animation and what package(s) was used by the creator's to model the ships?
