I really love seeing the warp drives come on. The effect showing the activation of the spinning rotors was great. And the look of the impulse engines was fantastic.
That little film was a very surprisingly well made film and a pleasant little surprise to stumble across and I LOVE the oh crap moment at the ends hehe.
I don't care if it's 11 years old, still one of my favorite fan films. Dead sexy glamor shots (too good to be called beauty shots),The easter eggs are the decorative icing especially the Jar Jar-prise in the scrap yard, all with more personality than anything craped out by the big budgets at paramount to date.
I was wondering who else would recognize that from Space: 1999. A good show for its day - not believable - very good effects and plots. I liked the shape changing alien they brought in I believe in Season 2.
Watching this when it's a little over six years old--still awesome. More Easter eggs than....well, something with a ton of Easter eggs lolz. Love the Space:1999 Eagle, among many, many others. "Ohhhhh, crap...." is classic.
If someone had told me when I was young and watch TOS that I'd see this on something called the internet on something called RUclips using something called a personal computer, I'd have said something to them related to the funny farm. Now, I just sit back and smile. I love Roddenberry trek.
I was always thinking that can you imagine the look of a kids face from the '50s or 60s if they were able to travel to the present time to see shows like Star Trek the Next Generation and other shows like that and compare it to the old space shows of that time.
I sometimes miss Moon Base Alpha. I remember going to see Gene Roddenberry when he went on tour and gave a monolog, like it was a concert. He always ended the talk by showing the original blooper reel. I loved how it ended, with a train engineer shoveling coal into the Enterprise's engine.
LOVE the sign for The Captain's Table below the Lunar Lander at the end! The Captain's table stories are some of the most, ah, "Star Trek" ones out there.
I must say very well made I wish that I had found this fan film sooner.. it's one of the best I've watched and I will enjoy watching again and sharing it with my friends
For a total (star)ship nerd like myself, this video was just heaven. (And you all obviously feel the same way). Thank you so much for all the love and respect, humor and attention to detail in this work. Bravo!
Very clever and brilliantly funny. I don't know how you got Tim Russ involved, but for him to call the Enterprise "The old girl" was pure comedy irony. I love it! :)
You´ve shown one refit Constitution Class Starship greeting the Enterprise on her last voyage before Refit. I always suppose, that the Excalibur became the first Refit after her massive damage in the M5 Battle
I was thinking that the Refit connie was the USS Constitution NCC-1700 i mean it would make sense as the USS Constitution was the first Constitution class starship
@@Nichodo They were probably both pulled back to ESD for extensive upgrades. There's another (I think ST:Phase 2 - it was that or ST:New Voyages, I always get them mixed up) fan short around here that shows a "halfway mark" between the TOS Connie and the TMP Connie. I'm willing to wager that the 1700 got the "incremental" upgrades, and the _Excalibur_ was simply gone whole hog, since the SFCOE had a severely damaged Connie they could do whatever with (it was likely considered a write-off - moreso if you watch "Ghost Ship"). Depending on your acceptance of fan works and how you want to pick your multiple choice options, 1701 likely served a couple years in the "half refit" configuration before her full 2370's refit. This fan short would then fit between either "Season 4" and "Season 5" of TOS (had they happened), or between 5 and 6 (1 - ? being Original Config, 6+ being "Incremental Upgrade" config).
Well, it was pretty explicit* from the time of TMP (and since) that the Enterprise 1701 was the first such refit. Also, that the tech was so new in refit 1701 ("...engines __times more powerful than anything carried into space before") that there was no ship built that had been built to that spec from the keel up before refit 1701 was launched. So, no. Strictly speaking, there's no way a pre-refit 1701 should be seen flying past the later model. --- But... it's a fan project and labor of love, so we can just sit back and enjoy eye candy
That is how the Enterprise looked in ST-TMP when she was finishing up in dry dock. Wouldn't that be something if they started each new series of Star Trek with the Starship as she was coming out of Space Dock, having a good long look? That was the best part of ST-TMP.
Wow this film was awesome on many levels. Great tribute to the Apollo landings and Space: 1999. Was that a JJ Enterprise I saw in the Pick your part space ship junkyard? haha Nice mention of ( Chelsey ) Bonestell the well know artist who painted so many incredible space scenes found in so many great scifi films. Haha Mr Scott had spotters to verify each warp engine had started up. Can you imagine what an enemy would think when it scans the exterior of the Enterprise and they see we use the leg of an enemy to make a lamp out of? Oh and NEVER press the flashing red indicator button that says ABORT.
Hell yeah! That's how good ol' Roddenberry always WANTED the Enterprise to look! Thanks to you, both he and Majel Barrett can rest in peace and we can al keep on Trekkin'! (Will there be other 'shorts' like this BTW?)
OMG Tim Russ was in it! And that bit at the end with the lunar module on top of the captains table... great touch👍 especially when it took off! Nearly wet myself laughing! ‘Oh crap!!’ 😂😂😂
For many, many years, I have been saying, it would be really nice to see the Original Enterprise get filmed exactly like the movie Enterprise with the self-illumination and dramatic angles! Well, last night, RUclips gave me this video and I was absolutely blown away!! This was amazing! I can't believe this has been out for seven + years! I always thought the 1st Enterprise was the BEST Enterprise. The people who redid the TV show effects could learn a lot from this video. The angles were breathtaking! Great job, PonyHorton and kudos for also having some fun, too!!!!
Loved the easter eggs, especially from "Space 1999". This film has such a ..... "Fallout 4" feeling to it with the sign shapes and such. It looks like the film's quality gets better as it goes on.
Oh, there was WAY more. The "Eagle" from the first manned moon landing at the beginning, "The Captains Table" with wooden doors (at 0:29), the "Gunstar" from the movie The Last Starfighter (at 0:31), the big lamp from the Drydock from Star Trek 1&2 and the lower end of the spacedock (upside down) from Star Trek 3 (at 0:59) ... The list goes on ! I absolutely LOVE this video !
this was so good that halfway through I had to remind myself this was a fan made video. We star trek fans are putting out better content than the official stuff now, lol!
Holy hell. That was brilliant!! Beautiful!! Seeing the original Enterprise so lovingly rendered with such precision and love. And the new lighting just gave her that extra pop she always needed. Almost made me cry. Thank you so much for the time and massive effort you and your team put into this. And thank you for the respect you paid to cannon. As a 50 year Star Trek fan, I am sickened by the direction Discovery has taken the franchise. It’s like water to a man in the desert. We fans all over the world need this!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!
Thanks so much! There was really no team, just myself creating the movie. Of course, I certainly had help from my friends who appear in Voice Over, such as James Cawley, Homer Hickam, Ralph Miller, Tim Russ, Ken Smith, and Randall Libero. Regarding DISCOVERY, we'll have to agree to disagree. I am a TREK fan since I first started watching in 1966 at age 8, and I first began my VFX career at Van der Veer Photo Effects in 1978 working under Hugh Wade, the man who created the actual sparkle effects from the Transporters in the 1960's, and I LOVE Discovery! TREK need not slavishly follow the canon we've seen so far to still be TREK. Give it a chance. It's worth it.

I'm particularly fond of McCoy's "Major Award" and the takeoff strip having an Interstate 10 road sign painted on it.

Last Year when I went to the outsourced company, which also makes artificial legs for those who need them, to pick mine up I saw in their waiting room a genuine " Leg lamp ". Just like the one in Dr McCoy's quarters. I thought that was perfect place to find one.
You DID NOT use the Leg Lamp from "A Christmas Story"!! That's hilarious and a great attention to detail. Given the timeline of this launch, and the ships lined up for the send of, a Locnar or a Larson class would have been nice. But still a great vid. Nicely done 👍👍
I love the song and all of the background details. I saw a gunstar from the last starfighter, an eagle from space 1999 and a shuttle from the original series. Im sure that if I watch it on a pc, Ill find more tidbits. Putting it mildly, I Loved it from e d to end!
After reading the comments below nobody's mentioned the Faze 2 in dry dock you can tell by the front of the warp nacelle a little bit of the tos with the stm .
A typical day, in space... yet so mundanely original. I absolutely love this. The song fits, like your favorite pair of jeans. A huge Thanks to the people who put this piece together. Very well done. More. Please.
And why weren’t you hired to bring The Big E to life on DISCO? I love the detail you brought to the impulse engines & the Bussard collectors. Beautiful!
Incredibly well done! Thank you for all the work you did, and for posting...that. Was. Awesome. And.... All the Easter Eggs were an incredibly nice touch, worth watching three times in a row to catch them all....Love the Eagle! But the Leg Lamp...that was pure genius :-) Merry Christmas!
This is both hilarious for all the little nods to sci-fi history threaded through it, and amazingly well animated. Seeing the Big E power up brings a lump to the throat!
Exceptional! Certainly one of the best short films I'VE ever seen👌 If only it could be made into a regular series🤔 Love the salute to "Space 1999" (0:59)❤️
Man, the old spirit is here. The "main theme" is awesome, the CGI work, the sounds, dialogues... I love it!!! We need more of this, not JJprise. Greetings from Brazil :)
I'll bet a lot of the tunes on this will endure for 23rd century contemporaries to listen to.....just like the leg lamp from A Christmas Story. I love it.
No matter how advanced starships may become, nothing will ever replace a Constitution Class Starship - Except perhaps a refit. One thing they must never do though is ever get rid of the Captains chair from the Original Constitution Class, that is what makes it unique. Better than the Excelsior Class, Ambassador Class - Though it bore more of a resemblance to the Constitution Class - Galaxy Class and Sovereign Class. None can hold a candle to a Constitution Class.
Oh there is so much in there, was like the proverbial kid in a sweet shop, love it and as before left me laughing out loud, you are a real talent! Thank you!
I really love seeing the warp drives come on. The effect showing the activation of the spinning rotors was great. And the look of the impulse engines was fantastic.
The classic original Enterprise NCC-1701 is still, and always will be, the best - the true gold standard.
I agree. She is always my fist true love
TOS Enterprise was a classic, but TMP Enterprise cannot be matched.
Agree to disagree, TMP Enterprise will always have my heart.

I absolutely love this. The song fits, like your favorite pair of jeans.
A huge Thanks to the people who put this piece together.
Very well done.
More. Please.
That hard right to square to the dry dock had to have been about 5-6 g's. OOOMPH! Ontop! breathe!
i just love what you did with the consoles
Thanks! Every shuttlecraft needs a stereo system!
And why weren’t you hired to bring The Big E to life on DISCO? I love the detail you brought to the impulse engines & the Bussard collectors. Beautiful!
I based the interiors of the Impulse Cathedrals directly on the old STAR FLEET TECH MANUAL.
The Hadley Rille National Forest Trailhead sign killed me, I still giggle everytime I see it.
And I just caught the Station 51 tones! More surprises everytime you watch!
Thanks for the tune, Mike! Drive on.
Great video! I love the Burma Shave reference. The ending is sooo funny. Another fantastic job Pony!
The Easter eggs are fantastic; especially the Jar-Jar Abram’s enterprise in the scrapyard!😂
The Story and the references make up for the slightly off animation. This is still my favourite video.
Space:1999 Moon Base Alpha at Frame 0:57? Cool.
Incredibly well done! Thank you for all the work you did, and for posting...that. Was. Awesome.
And....
All the Easter Eggs were an incredibly nice touch, worth watching three times in a row to catch them all....Love the Eagle!
But the Leg Lamp...that was pure genius :-)
Merry Christmas!
McCoy's lamp had me (and my wife!) howling with laughter! And I saw the ending coming. Well done. Well done, indeed!
Well, it IS a Major Award!!! The Enterprise has the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window...
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's show time! This was gorgeous. That scene where an engine popped on? How is this not #CBS yet?
This is both hilarious for all the little nods to sci-fi history threaded through it, and amazingly well animated. Seeing the Big E power up brings a lump to the throat!
It's a sight that never gets old!
I've watched this several times and am amazed by the number of Easter Eggs. Just WOW!
Exceptional! Certainly one of the best short films I'VE ever seen👌 If only it could be made into a regular series🤔 Love the salute to "Space 1999" (0:59)❤️
At 0.34 - is that the Gunstar parked in the background? That takes me back...
Anyone else notice the gun star one from the last starfighter behind the restaurant when hes taking off...
First thing I noticed lol
@@RGMerkel cool 👍
Man, the old spirit is here. The "main theme" is awesome, the CGI work, the sounds, dialogues... I love it!!! We need more of this, not JJprise. Greetings from Brazil :)
I'll bet a lot of the tunes on this will endure for 23rd century contemporaries to listen to.....just like the leg lamp from A Christmas Story. I love it.
I LOVE IT!!! That is how she should look! I love all the self illumination. I always thought the original needed that.
Thank you!
Thank YOU! So glad you got a laugh out of it. My work here is done!!!
That was awesome. I completely loved it. You should do some more.
