      I absolutely agree! However, there is still so much more to see! I hope they use this engine to make a game so fans and gamers can relive all of the Enterprise-D missions from start to finish! Oh, man, that would be awesome!!! And, a huge money maker! They can add missions talked about and in shows with detail giving backgrounds and features connected with characters and stories from the shows and film! They could even add real clips and help educate the players and those watching on real sciences! Plus, using a holodeck for fun to check out phaser targeting and Sherlock Holmes stories, would be cool, too! Most importantly, getting a feel of what it might be like to work on the starship Enterprise-D and work your way up the ladder would be awesome!! There's so much potential with this! And, that Next Generation music being played at the right times in such a game, in the mission story mode, would bring the old series of the ship back to life giving the fans that patriotic awe of the memories of Star Trek The Next Generation!!...Awe, somebody out there, please do it!!! It would be so nice to have a game like this and to even have a mode of playing that allows to have multiplayer online where you can take the helm against other players in enemy ships, or make your way to engineering to fix your ship's damage, or play as a doctor and heal the wounded players, or even board your enemy ship and fight them in phaser or hand to hand combat!

      @@blake99368 I have always dreamed of playing a game like that. Sadly, when the studios control the licensing, they usually choose to offer it to cash-grab projects that simply rely on the license, considering game play and story secondary. There is actually a VR game called Star Trek: Bridge Crew, which is one of the best multiplayer VR games I've played. But the game's scope is very limited and you're confined to a seated position at one of the primary consoles on the bridge; you can't get up and explore the bridge, let alone the rest of the ship.
      That game (and rewatching the excellent series The Expanse) actually inspired me to start working on my own project because I wanted to be able to admire and explore a starship in VR. But I'm developing my own universe, because there's no way I could get a license from a studio, and I'm not going to run the risk of trying to do a "fan" project like this one. It's just not worth putting so much time and energy into a ship like this, only to be shutdown by corporate lawyers if you do it well.

      The true size of the Galaxy class is so huge that it's difficult to conceptualise. You could fit the entire complement in the main shuttlebay a couple of times over. It could very comfortably have supported a much, much larger crew on a consistent basis (though of course there are some in-universe reasons why not to), but it's a huge amount of ship for not a lot of people.

      Ten forward wasn't the only bar area on the ship. There was also 2-forward, which is shown in this video, and was seen in season 1 of the show
      There were quite a lot of bars and meeting areas but they stopped showing them after season 1, for budgetary reasons
      There's also something described as a "mall" on the ship which takes up 3 decks and is a massive open area. Presumably with shops and stuff. But we never see it in the show.

    • @EtoileLion
      @EtoileLion 3 года назад +12

      @@adamgoss3638 I don't think we ever saw 2-forward in the show. It was designed by the ship designer (all those windows at the front of the top of the saucer? That's 2-Forward), but never shown as an interior; I suspect that what was meant to be 2-forward was repurposed as the Briefing Room by the show. The mall, however, was supposed to be 5 decks high (Decks 5-10), sitting between the Holodecks and 10-forward.

      @@sunnymensch9936 I think it's also that The Federation doesn't vet its officers and crew with a military mindset. If you get broken down and trained militarily, you can handle horrible living environments - naturally it fucks your life up when you leave the service, but they don't usually give a shit in the military. The Federation is supposed to be more forward-looking, so crew and officers aren't beaten down and torn to shreds as a part of their training. It's strict and difficult, but mostly academically. People are allowed to maintain their personalities, and therefore need greater comfort and diversity of environment.

It reminds me of a building I worked in once in Sheffield. It was enormous with lots of floors and on the top floor, where the canteen was, the toilet block was the length of a bowling alley, a scale which may be common in the USA but is very rare in England. Everything was bright, gleaming, modern and the entire floor always seemed deserted. It felt like having my own Galaxy class starship, except with toilets instead of science labs, but everyone needs a good dump now and then.

    Because rich environments like this, with a huge amount of intellectual investment, with technical measurements and scales, could be modelled very easily with a computer.
    The stories and connections within the game calculated to very interesting results.
    I.e. creating, waiting, involvement in each other as a story. It could even be some of the suggested activities for team building. Rather than put a sign up that says LFG, you go and play where the group might initially be out of your control, the idea to be how do you connect with people.
    Whilst the first is just to show how boring and scary/lonely these environments could be without other human presence. I.e. it would be similar to walking around an industrial area alone for many years.

    Wait. Enterprise has stairs?!?!?!?
    I thought it was only turbo lifts and Jeffery's tubes on these tubs.

    • @release2
      @release2 5 лет назад +5

      It looks like the artist(s) of this project made the conscious decision to replace all turbolifts with ramps and stairs, maybe because turbolift tunnels aren't possible to make in real 3D space (because in the show, they appear to be able to go from anywhere to anywhere else).
      Disclaimer: Since this is a virtual project and not real life, turbolifts could be accomplished with computer magic (same idea as TV magic). Walk into turbolift, doors close, plays a short travel animation while the player is swapped to the new zone behind the scenes, doors open, and the player is in the new zone and feels as if they've traveled through turbolift tunnels, when none actually physically exist in the simulation.

    When I first saw this video and what was going on with that shuttlecraft I was wondering if Tom Paris was at the controls because on Voyager he was always shown to be a bit cocky and this was one other thing I liked about this video the showing of the inside of the Enterprise D's main shuttlebay which sadly we never got to see on the show the only shuttlebays we ever got to see were the 2 shuttlebays in the ships neck and I also liked those lounges shown in this video and the models of all the past ships called Enterprise on the way to the main bridge was really awesome and also a great tribute to a great old lady.
