You will also need Lockpick at level 70 to unlock the chest, if you haven't already, you can level your lockpicking skill in Redridge Mountains, at the Alther's Mill, your rogue quest should've taken you there already ! :) Also, you can get rid of the poison debuff you get simply by using an Anti-venom from First Aid (you drop the mats on the spiders in Duskwood), use the Dwarf racial, ask for someone to dispell it, or just do the follow-up quest ! It reduces the effectivness of your Stealth and reduces your agility by 15 so you want it removed ASAP ! Have fun on Classic :p
I did this easily as a night elf rogue. I know night elfs have slightly better stealth. I diddent have to kill anyone. Just sneak up to the top, sap and snatch the chest. Run out.
I'm playing laggy ass SoD and chest says locked-red even I got the key, deleted it, pickpocked again on another spawn of the Malformed Defias Drone. Can't even enjoy poisons until next patch/maintenance, for stuff that was always in the game I swear this stupid spaghetti code.
Currently on season of mastery there's packs of two. Without vanish or distract at level 20 I don't see how you could pull this off.. but yes you can sap the guy at the top the elite. And you can even sapp the first guy with a macro that includes pickpocket and I was surprised that the mobs do die instantly from a backstabber it's completely different on the hordes side you have to do a lot more.
Correction. You can pull it off as they patrol you can slip by but to get out of there alive is another challenge after completing the quest I guess it's okay.to die
I believe the minimum level is 50 or 60.. But there is a chance to fail and you don't want that to happen so I'd really recommand to get to 70 so you don't fail the lockpick
"you will need pretty much nothing" except lvl 70 lockpicking... i see now that you mentioned pickpocket lvl 70 in the comments, but you mentioned none of that in the video. you wasted a bit of my time now i gotta go back to lvl lockpicking. Since you didnt mention it i just assumed lvl 1 lockpicking is enough. im not mad or anything but if you make aguide you should be more theral.

Garrote also instantly kills the patrols(doesn't require a dagger) and you cannot open the chest without lockpicking skill at 70 minimum

I just ran up to get the journal. Got it, but now I have the touch of zanzil debuff and so I can’t stealth to pickpocket the key….
Any stealth opener works btw. Garrote specifically. No need to get a dagger if you dont have one.
Doing a fist weapon run so glad I don't have to use daggers for this. Thanks!

My key doesn’t work for some reason
Grabbed the Tower key and it doesn't work. Got to the top, sapped the elite, and the key doesn't work.
You need to lockpick the chest, the key doesn't open the chest, but is still a requirement for the quest.
Next time just let us listen to Westfall music instead whatever kind of hell this is. But thanks for the guide

The key is not to open the chest. You have to use your Lockpick skill to open the chest.

I believe on the horde side mobs are vulnerable to garrote instead of ambush. might be wrong tho

I recommend to have level 70 in lockpicking. You can do it a little earlier, but you will fail too often for it to be reliable.

You need it to turn in the quest. The box has to be lockpicked (level 70)
