  • Join me in the kitchen as I pressure can dried chickpeas/garbanzo beans two ways - plain and lemon garlic flavoured.
Home canning has become one of my favourite things to do. It can be a very fun way to try new things in the kitchen, so long as you always follow the same basic principles and always take proper precautions. This video is a good example of trying a recipe variation, but still following a safe procedure from a reputable source. Always practice safe home canning procedures!

Thanks for the video. I'm pressure canning some chickpeas today and (fingers crossed) hopefully it all goes well. Learned a lot from your video.

At the end you stated you would take the rings off to clean the jars. What about long term storage and the seal?

Thanks for doing this! I've been totally curious. I love using my own dried beans but sometimes I get my beans all soaked and then change my mind and or life happens. It would be so nice to just grab from my canning shelf.

I totally hear you! I’m the worst for remembering to soak beans or I’ll soak them and forget about them.
Love using canned beans and love how easy and cheap they can be to can ♥️

Thank you great instructions. I add tahini a sesame seed paste to my hommus. Is it ok to add this into the jar before pressure canning?

Thanks for the demo. Have you done this with other types of beans?

Nicely done but to prevent siphoning don't take the vent off until after the steam has dropped to zero and then let the pot sit for another 5 minutes. Then remove the vent and open. Also you can let the cans sit another 5 minutes with the lid opened and tilted back.

You 'never' want any steam to come out of the vent when the gauge is lifted off.
