Finally someone is stepping up and talking about these kinds of sensitive issues in sg. Much respect👍🏻
As with most of the riders, we share the same sentiments. Thanks bro for your patronage.
Talking but cannot anything about. As good as talking to IMH patient bro
This is excellent Vlog. I recently jus switch back to Bike and was very disappointed with the implementation of new law. Those super car are even worst in noise n safety hazard to public. But LTA or traffic police has not done anything to curb them. Instead they target on us (2 wheelers), where we can only afford a transport that cost few thousands (If you dun consider the COE). Regarding helmet, I fully support use of good quality helmet as it really save lives.. But to insist that only PSB approved helmet are legal, this is UTTERLY STUPID for the one who propose this bill. This simply show that they lost touch with the people on the ground. Jus like when people said that Singapore people are rich and has high income, if this is true, why we still see or need a meal that is $2.50 ~$3. These ELITES should give us well thought solution and they have to remember that their "allowance" are from people's money. THEY ARE NOT WORKING FREE FOR THE PEOPLE.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Roger. The lawmakers seriously need to consider and engage the bike community as a whole. There are better ways to mitigate and the issues as oppose to strict enforcement and outright ban.
Those are rich PaP relative bro
What all this saga, I've got a few questions regarding Psb/TUV standards:
1. Are they absolutely sure that PSB sticker can reduce RTA OR is the cause of RTA?
2. Are testers at Psb/TUV bikers? Or are they "full time lecturers in a business school teaching students how to run MNCs yet does not have actual business experience"
3. Are they absolutely sure that Psb standards is BETTER than ECE/DOT or SNELL's standard?
4. Are they absolutely sure that wearing a $50 open faced helmet is safer than an full face Arai or Shoei when in a crash? FYI Majority of the impact is on the chin in case they don't know.
There are so many questions left unanswered. Its hope that the PSB ruling is really for our own good despite it being extremely disappointing.
Yup. They'll need to clarify on how the testing is done and how better it is compared to international testing standards.
Perfect example of ignorant people making laws they do not comprehend. Snell rating is for racing, nothing is safer than the Snell standard.
In the future instead of stealing other peoples helmet, there will be cases people steal psb sticker instead 🤦♂️
Do you know tp check the psb number code? It’s not the just a piece of for display only purpose sticker
(Not so)Fun Fact: If you want to own an electric motorbike in singapore, you have to pay and additional $200 tax every year to cover the fuel tax the govt loses from regular petrol bikes. MAJULAH SINGAPURA 🇸🇬
WHAT THE F......????? Electric motorbike also can't escape...😒
I've always dreamt of riding an electric motorbike if one ever exists in Singapore.
But then again, I can only dream T_T
@@tambakoverlanders Bro...this is so true. They are coming at all angles to make money. Behind any nonsensical kind of rules they come up with...the objective is simple...How to tap people's money. Simple.
straight to the face. openly Heng SK said they will tax electric vehicles accordingly to recover from fuel tax loss in future.
Its like nothing to hide. They will take your money one way or another.
To save the earth? reduce carbon emissions? excuses...excuses..
They will find way to tax you GST already increase to 9%
Death of motorcycle culture in SG.
1) We used to see many latest big bikes around and SG stands out when tourists came here for holidays. Tourists were able to enjoy the sight of latest models here but it's gone now. There's no different between SG and other ASEAN nations now. Kind of losing an edge for tourism attraction. My foreign customers used to tell me that they could not find so and so motorcycles they saw on the road and they were really amazed by Singapore bikers.
2) First world motorcyclists know what's good for them. Most would import expensive and really safe helmets as they could not find the models, colors, designs or brand locally. I think it's wrong to force them now to buy PSB approved helmets only. This is killing the joy of riding safely with helmets that one likes.
LTA should increase the number of motorcycle COEs so that more could dump their cars and ride motorcycles instead. With so many PHV, taxis and great public transport today, LTA could in fact reduce the number of car COEs and increase motorcycle COEs. This would reduce pollution, oil consumption and road congestion.
fun is not available here ☺️
Still plenty of cars on the road bro. PAP relatives own cars
Thanks for being our VOICE. The reason why they skipped the opinions from focused group surveys because it has been a habit developed over the decades in which "they" assumed we will just follow the suggested laws and regulations eventually. The adoption of 'fait accompli' is not exemplary of democracy and against basic human rights or civil rights. Agree that these amendments are ridiculous even by hearing you guys talking about it or just by reading the news. Hopefully, our justice system will show us some logic and explanation on these new initiatives.
Great video. I hope this will reach out to the authority and hopefully they might reconsider again. ( please la Reconsider 😩 ) . I hope this video will be viral. I myself will help to share around! . One question, can someone start a petition about the currect PSB helmet issues? Like someone well known and have alot of viewers, so at least there somewhere to start.
they dont care la bro! once da pass in parliament there is no turning back! unless GE just around the corner! mane yg dorg leh buat duit ke kocek jadi gemuk dorg akan buat! obviously yg buat law mcm gini bukan rider itself! smua naik basikal sudah!
Yup, there's really no point now. Very rare they'll go back on their word once a law has been made.
It's funny to hear how the authorities are now enforcing motorbikes for noise pollution, yet I have yet to see even one E-motorbike [Zero SR/F , Harley Livewire] being sold in Singapore.
(Even Malaysia has E-Motorbikes)
You can get a live wire in SG apparently, it’s around 70k sgd
Good content and points raised here. I believe we riders should keep coming up with intelligent discussions like this. Don’t just “lan lan” accept stupid draconian laws like the PSB rule, the Govt won’t be able to turn a blind eye to the riders community.
The policy makers think themselves smart, us riders can challenge them back with facts and statistics too. The SMCTA should put pressure on the Govt about this ridiculous blanket rule, when cyclists can just wear bmx helmets.
for vehicle modifications like lighting i understand why. headlight if stock is halogen then it is tested and certified for halogen. if put HID or LED then the beam pattern, power draw etc will be different. and there's no specifications for LED to follow. so many people have bright but blinding light. it doesn't have a proper beam pattern. sometimes it can be worse than stock beam pattern. its not safe if you are blinding everyone.
Wait.. Can black tinted visor be used for pillion only though?
Sharing with you guys too, i changed my motorcycle brake caliper from drum brake to disc brake, also illegal. Drum brake stopping distance is not effective as disc brake. To ensure my safety of stopping my bike in emergency situations, i changed to disc brake system for my safety, ALSO ILLEGAL!
From what I know, the manufacturer has to approve/endorse the modification. I would think it's kinda difficult given that the manufacturer has better things to do. That's why modifications are slow to be adapted and approved.
@@tambakoverlanders make sense too but inspection officer also close one eyes la if they see bikes with aftermarket brake caliper, we change for our safety what, just let us pass the inspection. Brake caliper does not affect the public or road user in fact it enhance the owner safety. Last time inspection officer good can close one eye on minor things, now, talk to them also heart pain.
HAHAHAHAH this is really really a good episode!! Really agree to all the points/thoughts that was brought up 💯 It is sad seeing all these are going to be taken from all of us.
Yup and right below out nose. Worst is we cannot do anything. Diplomatic country my ass…..gahmen top down is as good as communism
Alamak was going to take license this year, but if like this , hard la. From PSB helmets to the high COE and also if I buy second hand also not worth it already hairs...
hey guys maybe can interview the Singapore electric bike company. Maybe can give insight to the community and how it might affect the licence since electric bike is no long cc size
just take ur license bro
Your second paragraph is the exact reason why gahmen implemented all this nonsense new restrictions. They wanted to phase out petrol motorcycles and introduce strictly electric bike in SG in 10 years max.
from halogen to led
theres a fire risk if not done properly
halogen bulb hot, led the driver is hot not the "bulb"
@2.55 absolutely agree with you guy. Goverment is wasting our officers time. They got better things to do rather than catching illegal mods and using non psb helmet
Why not focus on the Malaysian bikers with loud pipes and crap helmets in Sg first? No offense to MY bikers btw
They are not following SG traffic rules and also some of them are escaping payment in gantries.
Why do the local motorists always have to suffer?
For example, with the malaysia bikers hogging the lots, we don't even have sufficient parking lot for our own residents.
Yes bro. Whenever i see SG plated vehicles in malaysia i always admire how they always obey our traffic rules. Ohh wait..
If talking about air pollution why not ban cigerette? Cannot right? No residual revenue right?
Send this video to the garmen la, they must see awesome pov from us riders.
Good work for bringing this up. What a waste of resources focusing on the wrong thing.
Basically what they want is money lah. That's all!
Good discussion by the riders for the riders.... 💪
Walao, I understand it's for the safety of our Motorcycle riders, but you need to know that we don't just use it for jobs. We also use it for fun and do bonding with our fellow Motorcycle riders. Damn it ah, our government damn insecure. Cannot vape, cannot smoke and now? They want to put harsh rules into this? Plus cars also modify their exhaust also to make it louder, then how come nobody even make report about it then?
I can only deem that the only reason for the PSB Approved thing is because of revenue.
@@tambakoverlanders Is just that I haven't reach 18 yet and I was planning to get next year class 2B licinese and rent a dirt bike. I just hope the rental dealer at Ubi there still have the KTM EXC 😥. Plus I don't want our government too ban helmets even like Arai
Arai helmets aren't banned. Just illegal to be worn if no PSB sticker, Pray that the shop would send it for PSB testing in future.
@@tambakoverlanders oh my bad. I mean the government think that Arai or any big motor helmet brands with design is not safe and they think the helmet can break easily. Yes, I would pray that Arai and other big motor helmet brands to bring it for testing, we need to show the government that it is safe
Probably some new YPs in the organisation trying to impress his/her bosses hence imposing all these ridiculous regulations.
Riders need to form a biker association and officially engage the gov agencies to resolve these rules against us. That's the only way our voices can be heard.
I am sure (hopefully) aftermarket exhaust companies will see this as an oppotunity and might produce silencers to reduce the Db emitted to comply with legal regulation. If the restriction is inevitable, this is the best possible solution for us bikers to keep using our aftermarket exhaust
We hope that would happen. At least we can keep the exhaust come 2023
i like how Zar's voice change when he speaking for the government
Thank you . This is a good and balanced video.
The law is not balance
So you can follow UN international standard for emissions but not international helmet standards. No brainer 😤
My assumption; PSB is set to help and ensure local sales of helmets, thats all. The whole world's elite racers use shoeie and arai but apparently not approve for singapore 50kmph road speed limit traffic??
They rapid develop until become concrete jungle then blame on motorcycles, by next election vote them out.
I just hope that authorities can create a a transition program thru inspections for existing dot, ece, snell approved helmets and issue psb stickers.
The govt needs to make more money lah, hence the sudden enforcement of PSB testing.
Give you chicken wing & take back the whole chicken!
@@BoopBobBeep better than getting nothing like other countries
If they wanted to target vehicles for pollution they should have gone for diesel vehicles as they produce tonnes of greenhouse gases.
Why are the COE prices so damn high anyway? Motorbikes barely take up much space compared to cars
No idea brother.. We wish it hadn't had come to this...
Great video ! probably a lot of riders think the same way.
Thanks bro. We're just sharing our thought too.
I think sirim approved helmets are not bad when compared to psb approved kiss or gpr helmet
can't really include DOT approval as something to consider. its a very low standard that might even be worse than PSB
Sad to say, we can talk until the cow come home, but PAP will not care about what the normal people have to say, the only time they will even consider taking normal people's considerations is during election. I have a few hypothesis about the recent actions taken by the government:
1) regarding the PSB helmet issue, if you go and look at the TUV SUD company FB that does PSB testing, you can see almost all their post are talking about government contracts, I don't know what that means, maybe someone smarter can let me know?
2) the noise regulations, it's just another excuse to whack motorcycles. The PAP hates motorcycles but they know motorcycles reduce traffic congestion, and they cannot simply ban motorcycles. If you remember the PMD battery regulations? They adopted some weird US battery regulation (UL-something) INSTEAD of the more realistic UN regulations, then now for motorcycles they suddenly use UN? More fishy than raw ikan kembung. So they always cherry pick a regulation standard that suits their plan. Which is to ban normal Singaporeans from having personal transport, i think the PAP's grand plan is to make all normal Singaporeans be forced to only be able to afford public transport, and the super rich can drive cars on the roads without congestion.
3) the ever increasing COE, same as #2, if you look at COE supply and demand, right after CB LTA cut COE supply to 800+, from 1000+ before CB. Since then they have cut COE supply down and down, and since late 2020 till the most recent april bidding COE supply has been cut to about 500+ every bidding. The demand (number of bids) hasn't increased as much as the supply (COE issued) has dropped.
Look at the pattern of government policies, they are making it cheaper and cheaper for super rich to come to singapore, but they are making life for normal singaporeans more and more expensive. And there is nothing normal Singaporeans can do to fight back, we cannot even petition, or raise a national enquiry. Motorcycles changed my life, when i was at the lowest point in my life, I cannot see myself not riding anymore in the future. My suggestion for normal riders, is to gain skills that let you find work in another country and continue riding there.
Wahahaha first they ban PMD from road. Then they give fuel rebate to motorcylists. COE still keep increasing. Then they say PMD & bicycle just need theory test to ride on road. Now they enforcing stricter regulations for psb sticker and exhaust pipe. See the pattern? 🤷🏻♂️
In Malaysia they also stepped up enforcement. Not fair but well what to do
I agree if they wana recognise ECE abd SNELL, and they should also have serial numbers. For DOT, no go aha. Good job gang~!
When i was younger...i could appreciate the sounds of motobikes...different bikes different sounds...even when people uses aftermarket exhausts...but now...i understand why people complain lol..very obnoxious la the sound....
About the regulations (any regulations) think its because of theres too much cases of such and such...thats why the authorities deicided for the change?...e.g. too many cases errant e-bikes riders ..so the authorities say next time must go take license
Too many cases of people who mod the vehicles got into accidents...authorities decide to check on everyone..
Too many complaints of littering on a certain area..authorities send NEA to that location...its actually ownself kill ownself.....but the Arai and Shoei not recognize by the authorities is absurd la...lmao
OIII, cannot mention psb sticker small, later they make that ugly sticker palm sized
sedih sia. aku baru pass motor sigh :(
same, i passed on 10 feb 21, baru beli 2b, looking forward to class 2 then.... next life 😂
I passed sept 2019, havent ride since then. Now ns, cannot afford
Something i found stupid, if your bike doesnt come with stock LED light, its illegal. But if your bike is stock with LED light then its legal. What??
Tbh expensive helmets are getting banned but it serve the same purpose to protect your safety but in the same time its getting banned for some reason. To me thats stupid on another level srsly.
For motorcycle COE, it’s better to copy what China is doing.just Fixed quota and fixed COE price at lower price. E.g 2k and lucky draw the winner.
My arai much more safer than that kiss helmet.
Doubt the person who impose this law even ride a motorcycle. Ale uto to that person.
After all this....I dunno what else they wanna impose on the motorcycle community? 😪
Ya really. Get riders to make motorcycle laws. Not some politician uncle that 'cares' about the environment. Stop cutting trees then...
Agreed. Or they should have engaged the motorcycle community before implementing.
@@tambakoverlanders They definitely should've!They are so disconnected from the bike community and rely too much on enforcement rather than education/innovation as a solution.
probably the people at the top, don't ride a bike....
Probably they doing all these for future of E-motorbikes! 🤷🏿♂️ Life in Singapore. Everyone's being controlled. Ride safe everyone! Remember, no crime is a crime if no one knows! Just don't get caught. 😂😂
singapore already so strict.. make it even more strict.. just makes singapore look bad to other countries. now need register bicycle as well which is really daamn dumb.
I straight away buy new helmet with PSB sticker that day sia
If only you can buy the PSB sticker itself...🤪
Why are you doing vlog 112 in Thailand anymore? There is a Thailand 112, is it you? A follower.
Hi John, you mean you can't find Vlog 112? ruclips.net/video/IHvDE0kN4Kk/видео.html
I modified my motorcycle to brighter LED signal light also illegal, i changed my horn sound from soft frog sound to a stock car horn sound also illegal. Brighter LED signal light so that road user can see it clear also cannot, louder horn so big tipper truck can heard us, alsoooo cannot. We modified for our safety also cannot. Stupid rules.
Interestingly, if the older models uses halogen while the new model of the same bike uses LED, it's still unapproved as the year's release did not include LED lighting.
@@tambakoverlanders exactly! To enhance our safety also cannot but seriously i really pity uncle who sell ice cream, who needs to renew their bike to continue to sell ice cream for their source of income :( the poor getting poorer, the rich garment become richer
One word STUPIDITY
Maybe should should suggest a petition regarding about the helmet 🪖
The burning question here raised by Farhan n Zar...Why ONLY NOW they wanna impose stricter measures on this helmet issues?? C'mon lah...this ruling already existed many many donkey years ago and only noe they wanna imprison ppl just bcoz of helmet?
Another thing is....I doubt those who wishes to impose this knows about helmets in the first place? To smart end up being stupid...Sheer stupidity at its very best!!
not to forget COE now 8k
i believe they should have coe that follow CC
coz 2b bikes are necessity not so much so a luxury. class 2 not a need so if you want and can afford, 8k coe is acceptable.
but 2b? its more than the machine price itself
Human make human life difficult..
Then i need to think if imma buy a bike anot. Cus i want it to work. Idk worth anot now
Sigh why now. Karen & Sam (s) BEHAVE PLSSSSSSS.
30:37, where's the R25 video?
My Kabuto & Shark fullface cannot use.. stupid rules..
Cant wait for the border to open ,how will the traffic police handle those malaysian rider,it will be double standard for them if they didnt fine those not psb approved helmets.
👍
Now Europe countries are laughing to sg such rule for motorcycle n cars.
On the day I passed my 2b, coe shot up to $8k...
Heart pain
boring singapore as usual
Garment no ride bike one lah haha
First!
Coe just hal its just too much hais
only in sg zz
make me even hate the government 😔
There is always been a regulation towards approved helmets guys... maybe you aren't aware. It's not after allll theeesseee years. Its always been a regulation. Just not enforced until now.
Inspection for bikes, is always good for us, to make sure the bikes are safe for OUR bikes. It's for us.
Cars are cars, bikes are bikes, they have to be dealt with differently.
And you are comparing Singapore bikes to Malaysian bikes? Seriously. Different cultures lah bros.
You have to look at it from a safety and community aspect. Can you imagine people dying and heads opening up? Allowing modifications on pipes, illegal and loud. At 2 am, some guy sending his gal home, waking your children up cos his pipes are soooo loud.
Dapat apa bang??? Discount tax ke??
Change government time
Govt need to earn money la
Why helmet need to be approve tf helmet is helmet got ntg to do with speed . Bruhh , think ah sg haiyoo
@5:52 I MALAY😂😂
All this law cacat sia
Issit because we malay?
Third!
Seriously, you guys really need to do your research before adding on to the noise out there. I am willing to share, are you guys willing to listen?
What exactly are you pin pointing out to?
Go ahead, you have the comment section to share.
I was referring to various things that you did not do research on and gave opinions based on them. I watched the whole video and I frankly lost count.
I am not here to change your opinion because the opinions are yours. What I hope to do is to correct the inaccuracies in your podcast. If that makes you change your opinion, great. If it doesn't, so be it.
My point being, you guys have fans, and no matter how large or small that fan base is, your opinion influence people. This is clear when you share that people wrote to you asking for your views.
This means that you have the power to influence.
Let me know if you're interested to have a coffee and talk about the issues we are all concerned about and maybe we can all do something about it.
@@AngKuGuay Since you claim to have miscounted the amount "lack of research" in the video, could you at least name a few key points that were wrongly interpreted?
Beating around the bush doesn't help. What they did not mention in the video that you like to rebuttal.
