I think Bobby and Dianne are brilliant. He’s had no previous dance training and to come out and do a VW that good is amazing. I just love their partnership, all their dances have told a story, Dianne is a brilliant teacher.

I totally agree with James in relation to Eddie and Karen. They were way better in the dance off, really upped their level and I loved it.
Zara and Gratiano should have been voted out.
I felt for Angela and Carlos, every judge critisised them, her little face looked crestfallen 😢
Ellie and Vito was so powerful, but for there is something so so magical and beautiful about Bobby and Diane's partnership. I remember watching Jade on Big Brother and I wish she could see her boy now, 😭

Salsa isn't usually choreographed by the pro partner, so it's a question if Nikita asked for it to be mostly side-by-side or it was a choreographer's choice. It was supposed to be a dance-off, maybe the theme took over the dance itself. I thought it was executed excellently. I agree about Vito and Ellie, they were excellent. Bobby as a non dancer amazes me every time, he's a huge talent and Dianne is a great teacher.
But where was the hold, where was the weight balance? It's as if Nikita gave up on the salsa choreography and it became a gymnastics routine. This is where Len is surely missed, as he would have slated it. Craig has evidently been muted due to political correctness.
We need 2 replace 3 of the judges and leave Craig as head judge .

Shirley is jealous of some of the celebrities that are female it was noted last year when she kept picking on 2 of the female celebrities .
I wish we had judges that are honest and marked dances correctly .

James is so right about the judges being all over the place with scores. And that Eddie was different gravy in the dance off as opposed to the live show. I have a soft spot for Nigel and Annabel and hope they give more OOMPH on Saturday. The only thing I don’t like is the criticism of Layton for being an experienced dancer. I feel he has a lot to learn about partnering and technique so it’s valid for him to compete. Ellie is the one to beat right now
Well, by having a lot of prior dance experience Layton has a major advantage. Yes he has to learn the technique and the partnering, but the rest of contestants on top of that have to also learn how to dance in general (i.e. rhythm, counting, understanding of different tempos) and try to get at least some physical form (muscles, stamina, lung capacity). And do all of that in weeks while Layton had a couple of decades. So yes, Layton has a massive advantage over everyone.

I agree with everything you are saying😮Technique is being ignored. Favouritism is clear. Love your idea that dances and music should be chosen randomly. It should happen on a Sunday night with Claudia after they get through. That way that would be fairer as the music would be tied in too.
I loved Nigel , mistake or not. I loved the performance. One of the couples I really look forward to.

They really have to do lifts but her lifts were to long and not very good jot very graceful if she is in the bottom two again she has to go Gratziano is a good dancer with the pro dancers but he is not a good teacher and not a good choreographer last year Michell let the cat out of the bag and said they were getting help with the choreographer who choreographies the pros dances the pro dancers are suppose to do the choreography for their partners l am surprised he gets a partner...sorry....their has been a lot of celebs not doing a proper football trot salsa whatever and the judges will say ...l am not really looking at the footwork they have a great personality that's what is good...the judges leyton dirry l cant get it out of my head he gas danced in the west end and is a trained dancer he is going to win this its obvious it will not be fair.m
Motsi was correct when she said Zara stood still without the lifts she did very little. Sorry but Zara should have left .

Agree with everything James said. I loved Layton and Nikita but I also thought where is the salsa content 😂 Ellie and Vito were my fav of the night too
So frustrating this week. Poor show on the whole and terrible music choices. What happened to the old days when everyone did a waltz or a cha cha week one so we could actually compare! And the Argentine tango was saved for semi final week! Judges are so inconsistent it’s ridiculous. Bring back grumpy Craig. 100% agree with everything James has said. Should be non dancer show that’s the point isn’t it. We’ve gone too far with the show biz, props and all sorts. It’s not about the dancing anymore.
I think Dianne is doing an amazing job with Bobby, my favourite partnership. That VW was a dream.
I think they were wrongly partnered due to height. He would have been better matched with Nadia. Please don’t put the age difference was too big because lots of pros have danced with the same difference before. Nadia never got partnered with anyone due to not talking part in the Strictly tour therefore the BBC got her back by not giving her anyone. ( this was said by someone on the know )

@@poppyk6182if he were dancing with Nadiya it would look like he is dancing with his auntie. Bobby wanted to be partnered with Dianne and she is teaching him marvellously so he can adjust to manage the height difference.

Age apart, Bobbie and Nadia would’ve been a disaster, personality wise. Bobbie needs Diane’s extroverted sunny side. Nadia is way too serene and refined for him.
Loved Layton & Nikita’s salsa, having watched many of the other salsa’s on strictly over the years, i am not sure i understand where it fell so short of being a salsa, it would be good in future if when these comments are made that it is explained to understand the detail. It was excellent entertainment and I love to see what he brings brings to the show. The other partnerships that were a joy to watch are Ellie & Vito and Bobby & Dianne.

A 6 at the most. Should be based on the dance. VT shouldn’t be played beforehand if it’s to pull at the heartstrings. Sorry.
Everything james said is 💯 true the scores are certainly not reflecting the dancers.
If Layton and Nikita's dance had been a couple's choice it would have been outstanding as a piece of contemporary dance, but agree about the lack of salsa content.
Such shows always have a problem with the judge scores, not just in "Strictly" and not just in the UK. And sometimes it gets really infuriating, because the audience just loses interest: if judges have favourites and give them high marks whatever happens, then what's the point in this "competition"?..🤨

You are so right about the mismatch between the judges comments and the scores they give. On occasions the two have been so far apart that I've rewound thinking maybe I'd dozed off (lack of sleep, not boredom with the show!) and they're marking the next couple. Ellie and Vito... Well... I don't know if there are too many or not enough words to describe that dance. And talking of descriptions, his excited explanation of a dance step to Claudia that somehow involved strawberries had me in stitches. I loved his Paso Doble with Fleur too, and their tango, so I now can't wait to see his tango with Ellie. I would love to see them win or, failing them, Annabelle and Johannes or Angela and Carlos, as Annabelle has no dance experience and Angela very little. Somehow I don't see Nikita and Layton winning, no matter how good they are, because the public tends to choose a non-dancer who has made "the journey" as their winner over a better dancer with previous experience - Ore Oduba's win over Danny Mac is just one example.
Based on the dance off alone: I think the judges got it wrong. The Samba was the more complicated routine that he cleaned up rather than the American Smooth in which her professional fell into the trap of making the dance to suit the lifts rather than the other way around, you can get away with lots of lifts in things like the Salsa but it doesn't look 'smooth' in the American Smooth.
Layton and Nikita were performing a Cuban style salsa, hence the difference from the usual salsa. Different rules apply..

I feel like the judges don't really know how to judge couple's choice because it's not what their speciality is and it's made into such a sob-story that you can't say anything bad about it

I completely agree with James regarding Nikita & Layton. I remember turning to my husband and saying 'that is a couples choice not a salsa'. I couldn't understand why the judges raved about it.
As a viewer I thought it was a dull week, poor music choices, scoring all over the place, clear favouritism. Ellie and Vito , are the front runners for me. Layton and Nikita were really good, if I didn’t know otherwise, could of been their couples choice. Halloween next week , hoping it will be much better.

James is 100% correct about the salsa. The dance was phenomenal but this was not a proper salsa. There was very little partner work and there was an absence of partnered basics. It was always a treat to watch male couples dancing together (in Bar Salsa, for example). The quality of exchange during the partner work was next-level dynamic, and this was missing from this routine. It's a shame as both are such excellent dancers. I feel like the choreographers missed a trick here.

I agree with the fact the judges comments don't match their scores. I would love to know what is said to the judges. Are they allowed to be completely honest? If James were to be a judge, is it likely that he would be able to actually say what he wants or score what he truly believes?

100 % agree with JJ , I really don't understand judges and scores in the series.
James would make a great judge, I always agree with his reasoning and marking. Zara’s first few hunched steps were weird and the lifts weren’t great. I love Annabelle and don’t think it’s a level playing field when judging anyone against Leyton, he’s a fantastic dancer to start with. Unpopular opinion but I never enjoy Angela’s dances, I’d rather she straightened her legs more than trying to stretch them for effect as sometimes her knees look awkward and her feet turned out. Ellie and Vito were robbed.

I agree with James..never thought I'd say THAT.. Layton was overmarked..not like other Salsa's.. love Nigel but overmarked because of the glaring mistakes .even he was shocked at the scores !!.. Zara should have gone..she spent most of that 90 seconds in the air..Eddie had more content and much better rhythm..Ellie and Vito should have been top of the leaderboard..its clear the judges have their favourites..I like Adam but thought his couples choice was very weak..compare that to Helens last yr from Cabaret. .still love that Mein Herr dance..THAT is a good couples choice. .very hard to do Fosse well and they did..
The thing about Krishnan and Laureen is they started immediately, no pfaffing about, as Len would say.

They should do away with the singers on that show they are rubbish as well as the music if it's a bad singer song it ruins the dance they should tape recorded the real original singers to be honest get rid of Dave Arch band it is very old fashioned the singers screech just have proper recordings it would be brilliant.

I honestly think Rippy and Kai are gonna get completely shafted by their last few dances. Gosh, they can't avoid Jive or Quickstep this year. Even if she did Couple's Choice, Waltz, Contemporary, Charleston, Tango, American Smooth, and Viennese Waltz, the next few weeks she's practically gonna get voted through to the finale. At that point, I'm concerned they'll either throw her a Samba and Quickstep, but that's when she's left with more dynamic dances. If that's the case, Angela is gonna be gutted at the last moment. The slow decrease will come in her scores, but the drop-off at the end, I fear, will be massive, and she won't have a chance.

Yep agreed. Angela will have to do the quick latin dances soon if not this halloween weekend. It will be challenging for her. But Kai will create a suitable routine. He’s a clever guy. He’ll come up with a perfect routine.
Craigs comments to Angela Scanlon were dishonest and deliberately wounding to her confidence. He said she lacked grace! When thats like calling a woman ugly. Angela Scanlon is lyrically graceful. But Craig often shows a preference for either butch men or effeminate boys/ young men and gives women the rough end of his distaste for their gender. If Craig is pleasant to anyone its welcome one does not have to be nasty to be a judge.

Saying somebody lacked grace in a dance is not like calling someone ugly wtf, it’s people like you who imply these silly things that have made the show turn so bland with comments, she did lack grace and that can be improved on for future ballroom, do you want him to tell her she’s the best and it was so smooth when it wasnt

I’ve always thought Anton was a great judge but he’s started to get a bit silly with his over marking. Veto is still my favourite, I could watch him all day. He’s so passionate about dancing and so strong, love him.
Any competition where performance is based on subjective evaluation is bound to be fundamentally flawed. My problem with week 5 is the fact that Dave Arch could have got a guest singer to perform "Calm Down" properly. Clearly out of the singers comfort zone, they murdered the music and ultimately rendered Eddie and Karen's Samba useless. Karen and her choreographers should have spotted this during the week.
I knew Eddie would be out this week but I didn’t agree with the judges. For some reason I don’t think they warmed to him and Karen and you could see it all season. So I figured the bottom two would be him and Zara and as long as she didn’t fall over or something they’d choose her to carry on. Never mind she can’t do more than a few steps on the floor before she’s hoisted to the heavens. It’s a damn shame I think. They shouldn’t have been so biased against Eddie.

I think all the judges have been told to be very careful what is said!! BBC IN ENOUGH trouble as it is.
I sat and watched Zara thinking when is she actually going to do any real dancing. Awful choreography and not executed well at all.
On the Flip side, we have Ellie and Vito, standing ovation needed for their Passo, I loved it. I love their partnering as a whole. She's a fantastic dancer and such a beautiful young woman.
I thought Zara was the worst in the dance off. Also let's not kidd about..the ringer Layton is the designated winner and I am sure the judges , as per usual, will do their utmost to judge as ordered. Which became blindingly obvious during last season when Shirley clearly almost messed up in what she was supposed to do.
Re. Couple's Choice. There have been IMO only two memorable ones: Faye Tozer and Giovanni dancing Theater-Jazz; Rose and Giovanni dancing Contemporary. That's it. Re. Favoritism in the judging and scores? Absolutely. Adam has been a big beneficiary. His jive two weeks ago was grossly overmarked. He and Zara ought to be in jeopardy next week. Nigel and Annabel both have very popular pro partners, in addition to being popular in their own right; they've both got a magic invisibility cloak that hides their dance shortcomings.
I also liked Bill Bailey and Otis.

Totally agree with comments about Layton and NIkita... It was not a salsa. Salsa you are meant to do loads of hand work and partner work.
Also James did not mention difference in height between him and Ola... would have been a good comparaison with Bobby and Diane

Listening to you, I reckon you were in our living room on Saturday….almost every opinion was the same! Craig has gone soft. Judges comments and points are not in agreement. Shirley always has an obvious favourite. Layton did a show dance. Zara should have gone this week. Annabelle needs to just let go. The song choices are so random and weird. Hate most of the couples choice numbers.
Do you think half the couples dance the same ballroom, the other half do the same Latin then alternate weekly so ballroom one week then Latin so e.g Angela R and Kai did Latin Week 1 so do ballroom week 2 then Latin again week 3 if this makes sense? No cherry picking of dances. Charleston & Argentine Tango later in the series

Glad someone at last noticed that Nigel’s Foxtrot wasn’t great and it wasn’t just the mistake where he kicked Katya. He got the same score Bobby got for his lovely no mistakes foxtrot in week 1 FFS.

Hi - I have always believed that the judges do not have full control of their marks - I believe they are influenced by the producers of the show and are told or advised to give a score which the producers feel will make the public get angry or happy etc. The judges earn a packet from the BBC in their salary, and in return I believe they are told what to give and say.
