Don't Let The Light Go Out - Panic! At The Disco | Lyrics:
Stare at a wall that’s told a thousand tragedies
Holding a hand that’s loved every part of me
A lady comes and tells me that I gotta leave
Right away everybody is the enemy
Deep breaths from the room where I watch you lie
Any beat from your heart gets me through the night
You’re my love, you’re my death, you’re my alibi
Say this isn’t goodbye
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery
Don’t let the light go out…
A rush of blood floods hot thoughts in my head
Red roses sitting silently beside the bed
Are saying more right now than I ever said
Don’t wanna live if the thought of loving you is dead
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery, so…
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery
Don’t let the light go out…

❤ing this one and all the songs from 'Viva Las Vengeance' - Let us know below if you like it too and what other tracks on the new album you've been listening to!
yes same
I really took it as a tragic song that could be for anyone you love
❤❤❤
I know this song is meant to be a romantic song but this played the day before my mom passed away last month and I very much associate it with that now, because the lyrics ring true. Watching her lying in that hospital bed was the worst thing ever. RIP, mom. I love you.
I don’t think of it as a “romantic” song, per se. It’s certainly implied that it’s about a romantic partner but the song really is about what you said. The gut wrenching , desperate feeling of impending loss and uncertainty.
Ik the feeling tbh. I lost my momma back in May so I know your pain. She was my only parent since my father passed back in 2013. Me being the youngest out of my family really does take a toll. I watched her take her last breath.
@@telefeeb1 it's true. worst feeling ever, because it's a loss you know you can't do anything to stop or prevent.
Long distance hugs hun😭❤️
@@dylandorsey4259 I'm so sorry for your loss! I do not have a father, he bailed on us when I was an infant, but my grandmother was my second mom and she passed away in 2006 so I, too, am an orphan now. I'm also the youngest, my elder brother is 15 years older than me and didn't help me with anything as per usual. I wanted desperately to be there with my mama when she took her last breath, but she waited for me to leave before she passed. I had to leave to let the dog out, and an hour later she was gone. I hope our parents are resting in peace now.
My husband is battling stage 4 brain cancer and I listen to this on repeat. We've been married almost 8 years. 3 years dealing with this tragedy, this song is melted into my heart 😭 I love you so much David
Praying for you and your family! Sending love and light to all! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so sorry for both of you 💔 my church will pray for you 🙏. My husband name is David !
Praying for your family ❤
(((((Love vibes)))))
He passed away April 2023... he is at peace and not in pain anymore :(
You can tell he has dealt with real loss this song is heartbreaking beautiful
Indeed. Great song by a great band.
This song squeezes my heart so hard, y'all.. An absolute masterpiece. Since middle school, I loved this band. Grew up with them. Now I'm 29 and married and they're STILL dropping absolute artwork in the form of music. 💚💚💚
I agree this song makes me think of a lot of old memories
Same
They’ve been withe since High School 🙌🏼
Lol “yall”
Same exact thought and im 29 too so 100% agree I love this song
Still healing from losing my grandmother, close to a year ago, and listening to this cut deep 💔
“Who’s gonna argue til they win the fight?”
My grandmother was a very tough woman and you could never win an argument with her.
“Deep breaths from the room that I watch you lie”
We had her in our house on hospice and I used to pass by the room she shared with my mom and I’d blow a kiss to her [still do from time to time..].
“Any beat from your heart gets me through the night”
She fortunately passed away in her sleep and my mom told me the news that morning.
“Holding a hand that’s loved every part of me”
I held my grandmother’s hand the night she died and…again that morning because I didn’t want to believe she was gone..
EDIT: Deeper cut down since I just broke up with my boyfriend, who helped me through mourning my grandmother’s death, and now…
I'm so sorry for ur loss. I kinda relate my grandma passed away recently due to cancer spent 4 months with her in korea so she wouldn't be alone in final days I hope u and ur family are doing as well as you can be
@@zeroshadeslayer3000 First off, thank you ❤️🩹
It’s been difficult, but, we’re getting through it.
Second, my grandmother was also dealing with complications from brain and lung cancer by the time she was put on hospice and it was so hard to watch, having seen my mom go through treatment for kidney and lung cancer but thankfully surviving. I guess I still held out hope that my grandmother would pull through it as well..
Panic at the disco will always be the best in their genre...sad to see the light go out but my best of wishes on all future endeavors 💯🙏❤️
BEAUTIFUL in every way! Got a 70s rock feel to it. And the notes he hits! Wow!
Amazing x
1st thing i said when i heard this song!!
My god, I heard this song for the first time today (if not, then it’s the first time I was listening) and it absolutely made me cry almost immediately.
“You’re the only one who knows how to operate my heavy machinery” seems like such a weird phrase, but the way it’s screamed out in the song really makes it hit deep.
The parts of you that are complicated and dangerous, that take up a ton of space and require a lot of knowledge and skill to move safely. Anyone who can deal with that is going to be precious.
I guess that line hits a little extra hard for me, in an oddly specific way. My uncle’s funeral was a week ago and something I remember about him is that he had all kinds of construction equipment around his property. Not because he ran a company, but because he always wanted to do everything himself. And since he’s been gone one of the hardest things for the family to deal with in his estate is finding people who can, well, use the heavy machinery.
Just heard this on the radio. And I instantly fell in love
Me too! Keep hearing it in my car on my way to work 🙂
Same!!!! I can’t believe no one is really talking about this song. Was surprised it came out a month ago.
It's garbage.
@@McFaddenWasRight to you
@@McFaddenWasRight you're talking about yourself, right?
Listening to PATD when I was like 17 yrs old wanting nothing to do with high school.. now I’m listening to their new song for the first time in over a decade and absolutely loving it at 32yrs old, blasting down the freeway with the top down in my lifted Wrangler.
Listening to this right after hearing about Panic! ending just hits different...
Is it normal to listen to a song 20 times in a row, wow this is fab and sad at the same time
yes im going on 30 maybe haha
Yes I love this song. The lyrics always make me so emotional. The "heavy machinery " line gets me because I can relate.
This is their best song hands down.
This is how every relationship feels when it's going downhill and you just want the person to fight to keep you because you're sick of being the only one fighting.
Heard this at the VMA awards had to find the lyrics ❤️🥰
Same❤
No way me too I instantly fell in love with this song ❤️
Same
Seeing them in concert tonight!
@@Pokergirl84 Have fun!!!! Ik it’s gonna be a blast lol
Started crying the first time I heard it. Made me think of my 17yr old daughter and her boyfriend she lost to a tragic death 😢
The first time i heard this song, i thought it was a cover of an older song. Its so good
Must be the instruments or chord progression but… this song is making me feel like Christmas is early
My 3 year old loves this song!! I’ll walk into a room and he’s singing “don’t let the light go out!” It’s the sweetest sound!
Thank you for sharing. I'm 55 and have a fair few great tunes that get the emotions going and this is one of them. The lyric "You're the only one that knows how to operate my heavy machinery" resonates with me, for my closest (my wife D and also my best mate S) that have had to put up with my BS over the last couple of years. Note to self - get rid of that lump in your throat and enjoy the music!
This song hits differently now after Panic! At The Disco broke up recently
It's sad we don't hear music like this anymore.
This is a brand new song. So we do hear music like this.
@@glenndevecchis5493 right lmaooo I hate when people say dumb shit like that. Stop blaming generations for everything.
Its dangerous how thick some people are
It's sad that this music ever existed in the first place. Boring generic music by hacks who could never live up to legends from older times in music history.
Just heard this on the radio, fantastic voice...real music, loved it straight away!!
Has a Christmas vibe.
"Right away Everybody is the Enemy".. 💯💯💯💯
I heard this song on the radio a few days after my boyfriend had a seizure and medical episode and was in a coma for a week. When I heard this song, I didn't know if he was going to live or not. Thankfully after a long hospital stay he is better, but man, did this song speak to my heart and say every emotion I was feeling at the time. Seeing him laying there, barely alive, while i was so helpless to the situation is a feeling ill never forget, and I don't think I'll ever forget this song, either.
I just discovered this song a couple months ago and it’s been on repeat. Such a beautiful ballad that invokes so many emotions
I can't stop playing this song. I might be driving people crazy
This!
same.
I love this tune! I like how the intro sounds like the seventies song ( I can't smile with out you)..
Thanks! That was driving me crazy!
I heard this song in the car earlier today. I couldn't put my finger on it but it definitely sounds like I can't smile without you but the beginning part sounds a lot like "at seventeen" by Janis Ian. Check it out!
@@adriansaninja Yes! Yes! This is the actual song I was hearing in my head!!! I was hearing a mellow song with a female voice. I thought it was the Manilow song but No, this was it. Thanks, and Nice work!
Heard this in Turkey. Last week for the 1st time superb song
I'll miss hear music from this guy but I understand he just wants to start a family. Family always comes first
New panic at the disco , blink 182 and Weezer like what year is this ? I'm not complaining I love all the new stuff from all of them
My 4 year old daughter loves this song ☺️
So does my 5 year old 🥰
My 4 yr old son sings along!
They’re a beautiful band. My super wife Joyce saw them years ago. Glad they’re back.
Reading the comments, people seem to love this song for so many varied, deeply personal reasons, in so many different walks of life.
I related to it physically, sensorally - heard it in the store where I work, and just the amazing tone of the vocals on the chorus - soaring and strained, pained at the same time. Beautiful belting and also like a wounded animal. It's an incredible sound, and it grabbed me, and comforted me at a time when almost everything else I usually love had faded to ashes in my mouth. But - no disrespect to everyone else contributing to the song, with its attention-grabbing, heartbeat base and it's decadently treacly, Valentine
-worthy earwormey guitar riff that resounds like an entire orchestral string section - the operatic desperation of the vocal hit me right in the gut and lifted me up.
Heard this in Turkey few days ago beautiful
Seen them perform and instantly knew this was fireeeeee
Reminds me of can't smile without you
30 seconds in and I started crying. 😭
This song is so beautiful.
I absolutely love this song. My light went out many years ago 😢
Just found this song and it Hits Hard! I can literally feel the passion in his Voice!! Awesome song!!
so good right!
I absolutely love, love, love this song. His voice is just amazing, lyrics amazing and guitar playing 👌. Can't stop watching and listening to it. My new favourite group, going to listen to the album, can't wait.........
Listen to some of their older stuff, too. They have a lot of songs that are as beautiful as this one. His voice is always amazing.
Better yet find some good music to listen to. You'll find no such thing here.
@@geekasauruswreks8789 lol. You're joking.
@@McFaddenWasRight absolutely not. People have differing preferences. You sound like one of those "my taste in music is better than yours" kind of people and that's sad. Is this really the best way to spend your time? Telling someone on the internet their *opinion* about a *completely subjective* experience is wrong? Do you think you're going to say PATD is bad and suddenly people will stop liking them? Also sad.
I heard this on the way back on the car and his voice was just so stunning with the lyrics I went home and tried find it straight away
This Song is my strengh to deal with the loss of my grandfather, rip
It’s 2023. I’m 32. Still growing up with panic at the disco.
I love this song 💕 - fell in love with it the moment I heard the opening music
What an amazing piece of work this is
You meant amazing POS I think.
I play this at last call when i kill the bar im working lmao
Makes me cry every time.
I lost my dog a couple months ago,
He was my best friend.
so glad i found this song again omg i was gonna go insane if i didnt
Jusr heard Don't Let the lights Go Out, on Kelly Clarkson's show and loved it. The vocals are insane! Definitely a fan. ❤
Absolutely hooked on this after hearing it a week ago

Beautiful work as always. ❤ been a fan for 12 years .
Why am I listening to this after I signed my divorce papers…
I keep playing this over and over again it is gorgeous. Who is the vocalist? Which country are they from?
Brendan Urie and he’s American he’s in Panic! At the Disco
Hi there I'm Steve they are from Las Vegas and the singer is brendon boyd urie hope this helps your question
Listen to their older stuff. His voice is always amazing. I would try to make a list of songs, but they're all great, tbh. I'll try anyway.
Death of a Bachelor, This is Gospel (Piano Version), Dying in LA, Memories, Trade Mistakes
There's a few I can think of off the top of my head.
We're are you from jocelyn
**"he's Panic! At the Disco"
Whenever I hear this now it reminds me of Steve Wright's final afternoon show on Radio 2.
I aggrree Jeanette
I am in love with this song
Every time I listen 🎧 to this song I get a different meaning 😮😅
i absalutly love this
I love this song 🥰
All of them!!!, ever since the concert.
This song stuck in my head love it!!!!!
Love this❤🙌
I always listen deeply to lyrics to any song “you’re the only one who knows how to operate my heavy machinery” that is deep for me, cos my fiancé knows how to operate my heavy machinery, when I’m having panic attacks or when there’s something stressful happening he just gets through it without showing any signs whatsoever of stress like easy peasy and before I know it panic attacks gone like it never happened
Dam! nice one of the best male power ballads I have heard in a long time! Reminds me of 80's rock male power ballads. Brenden Urie can really sing. Love this song.
Lolol. Do you even know what rock music is? What a joke. These guys are about as much rock as a barbershop quartet....lol.."power ballads" lololol....listening to some metal if you really want to hear something closer to that term
He is amazing!!
Last christmasssss
That belting chorus tho…
In case of heartache play at high volumes *depression grabs it's electric guitar* 😢
Frankie Valley and the four seasons omg vibes
mourning a light that had barely even become a spark on the other side, ironic
the beginning music reminds me of a spanish band I grew up listening to, RBD, anyone else who's familiar with the band, here it?
cierto que suena como una cancion de rbd??? incre ible
I managed to see P!atd live at their last UK show, the atmosphere when they played this song was unmatched...
Hopefully this shit doesn’t get taken down like all the other vids
Why would it be taken down?🤔
@@weeeeoooow because all the lyric videos of his new album that I’ve searched up have been taken down
I love this song do much
I fell in love with this song the moment I first heard it! Got the pleasure of listening to the back catalogue now 🥰
Absolutely love this song , it sounds like a classic, great voice
so good!
Respect
Love it
This song hits differently when you realize that Panic at the Disco is a one person band, everyone but the singer left.
So he is doing a break up song after his band broke up with him.
Thank you❤
I miss my sibling so much !💔
Get ready to hear this one a shit ton
I love you
I love you too
Such a sad song
The beginning of the song sounds so familiar does it sound like anything else?
I’ll send this one to Lisa

So gothic and moody!!! I have extra senses and sometimes messages come to me in songs. Had a badddddd breakup and been trying to shut down the link between me and him ever since. I believe this song came into my head no matter what I did today as a form of communication. DO NOT @ me. Story is unusual I know
I too have those senses and this song also strikes something in me. Instant, “when you know, you know”moment for me.
I appreciate my wife more everyday since I heard this song I've seen somebody right I miss my mom she died your mom isn't your lover like your wife this makes me feel loved by my wife not my mom you damn weirdos peace and love
What the fuck does any of that mean

Also Barry Manilows “can’t live without you”
