LYRICS
Stare at a wall that’s told a thousand tragedies
Holding a hand that’s loved every part of me
A lady comes and tells me that I gotta leave
Right away everybody is the enemy
Deep breaths from the room where I watch you lie
Any beat from your heart gets me through the night
You’re my love, you’re my death, you’re my alibi
Say this isn’t goodbye
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery
Don’t let the light go out…
A rush of blood floods hot thoughts in my head
Red roses sitting silently beside the bed
Are saying more right now than I ever said
Don’t wanna live if the thought of loving you is dead
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery, so…
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery
Don’t let the light go out…

The light sadly went out. But at least this isn’t goodbye. The band and Brendon will forever be in our hearts and memories. All the performances, all the songs, and all the things he did. Will still remain. It’s sad that we won’t see him perform live again. But at least there’s a chance that he will in the future. Let’s remember Brendon. For the thing he is. And give him all the applause he deserves.
God bless to Brendon, Sarah, and to the baby girl. And hope to see you again in the future.
They have a girl? How do you know?

Follow his advice: Don't Let the Light Go Out. Keep listening to their music, keep sharing it and enjoying yourselves. It's what Brendon would've wanted. Thanks for the good times Panic! You'll truly be missed.

Ok I love this. I'm guessing the vibe of this album is old school rock and roll and I'm here for it. P!ATD change thier vibes each album no album will ever sound like the last one and I love that.

His harmonies in all of his songs but specifically in this albums, the way that they're produced with his voice is just magical, nothing like anyone out there

When I hear this song, the lyrics make me think of my mom when she was dying in the hospital and my father next to her bed, holding her hand, crying..the lyrics just move me. You could see the sorrow in his eyes….it’s a beautiful but sad song
feel the same way, I lost my mother very early, and this song takes me back to a very difficult time in my life, but it strengthened me a lot
I know the feeling my friend as my mum died back in July 2022 and now I haven't got any family at all left now and Christmas was spent on my own so it wasn't easy for me but I'm just hoping and praying 2023 will at least be a bit better for me. Cuz most are girls who love the iPhone type music like high hopes lol
@@joshuafult84 Maybe people just don't like supporting pedos
They are emo kids who want pop-punk songs
@@dangerousvillain7278 Maybe cause that's how the band started for several albums before Brendon stole it and was outed as a pedo.
Because the lyrical quality has taken a sharp nose dive. Instrumentals are phenomenal as always, but comparing this to even as recent as Death of a Bachelor (the album), you can see the difference. This particular song is the best on this album so far, but it's clearly trying to recreate Golden Days.
We'll never forget you guys. Don't let the light go out, y'all.
This song brings me back to the side of my moms hospital bed holding her hand and watching her taking her last breathe. My sister, brother in law, and I got a call from the nurse saying we needed to rush to the hospital to be by our moms side. When I first heard “viva las vengeance” I was like “…this is different, but I don’t hate it” now I’m four songs into this album I already know I’m going to undeniably love the rest of it
-VLV catchy, upbeat, perfect for the opening
-MOAB messy, theatrical, noisy
-LG weird, confusing
-DLTLGO is the best out of all so far
@@GlynTaylor Source? The only thing I’ve heard Brendon say about this album is that it was inspired about his experiences in Hollywood. I don’t think he’s said anything about using his strained voice to represent anything.

Then I heard this song and it stopped me in my tracks because it made me think of my husband and how he would feel if I did let the light go out, almost as if he's singing this song to me. I feel that so much this song is soooo raw
Spot on.
Yes love it!
makes me think of my mom and how much i miss her.
The imagery on 3:54 where everyone leaves indicates that brendon is the only one left in the band to not let the light out. Similarly in the vices and virtues overture video, while the two members left only spencer stayed, but now in the don’t let the light out, everyone left, leaving brendon in the band all alone.
He's just a kid
This part also reminded me of the That Green Gentleman video with the kid versions of the band 😭
I hope that Brendon knows that there are people who are only there for the music. They are not here for the dramas, for the ridicules and other bad stuff. They are just here for his music. RIP PANIC AT THE DISCO
!
This is one heck of an emotional song littered with symbolism and swinging back and forth between past, future and present!!!.I love it.This era is Brendon's Magnum Opus! and the best in my honest opinion!
How is NO ONE talking about the lyric “you’re the only one who knows how to operate my heavy machinery” ???
I just dropped off my daughter, her junior year, and we both were crying again from the song. But that line hits hard. We are just waiting and hoping he'll be back after he gets adjusted to dad life.
Because most of us don't have heavy machinery that someone knows to operate.
You know it ❤
I'll let you shift my gears!
I was reading through the lyrics and I could tell it's about a love hate relationship, but I don't understand that line and don't know what to make of it? Does it mean he has baggage?
90’s vibes for real.
The first time I heard this song, I fell in love. It’s one that feels with me so many emotions, about both loss I’ve experienced and loss I never want to experience. Keep doing what you do Brendon, no matter what anyone says. You have an amazing talent.

@@alyshamccay6332 see I think I liked more of their songs on the last album but apart from viva las vengeance I'm not really feeling it 🙃 defo agree that they all sound very similar... maybe when the album is released I'll have a different opinion 🤷🏾♀️
So much for all that positivity. 😂🤷♀️
@@iamtheoneandonly3523 oh I deffos liked more songs from the last album, but overall it was just so mainstream that it put me off panic ☹️ I’m hoping that when the full album is dropped I’ll change my mind, otherwise I’ve wasted so much money on tickets/ hotel to a band I don’t like anymore ☹️
@@hellostina can’t help my opinion🙈🤣
Amazing performance on the VMAs, absolutely KILLER vocals!
Immediately fell in love with this song the first time I heard it and put it on repeat until now. I absolutely do not get the hate and disappointment over this from P!ATD fans themselves and I am not even a die-hard fan of the band, but I really like this to the point I can tell now that this is my most favorite song of the year 2022.
It’s not a sad song but it makes me feel melancholic, which I cannot explain. And God, Mr. Brendon Urie’s vocals especially on the chorus are so brilliant. I am not annoyed by the “straining in his voice” that people keep pointing out in here. In fact, it more conveys the sadness and longing in this song for me.
Thank you for this wonderful craft, Panic! My wish is to see Brendon in person and hear him belt these freaking high notes live! Crossed fingers for Viva Las Vengeance tour here in Manila, Philippines
Viva las vengeance was fire but this song is straight gold, they nailed it on this one
VLV = catchy 60s/70s rock n roll, Elvis Costello vibe
DLTLGO = 80s rock ballad, Journey vbe
This has become my favorite song from the moment it dropped. The snare is reminiscent of a heartbeat and the pauses are moments were you’re not sure if that is the final goodbye. The horns are the longing for that final held hand.
He has a beautiful soul.
Just when I gave up on modern music, I hear THIS!
The retro feel and production is just pure Class.
The lead vocal is incredible, full head voice in that Key is up there with the best.
Bless the youth that still know how to Write,Construct,Arrange and Produce at this Quality ...Makes an Old School artist for many years feel young again.....
Loving the sound of this entire album. Definitely a throwback to the 50s and 60s American Bandstand era.
Im so glad hes back, and this song has to be one of my favorites off this album, its just so pure from the heart and emotional, it reminds me alot of Far to young to die or this is gospel, i love it
I think that this might be one of my favourite songs of all time.
My mom is dying of brain cancer and wow this song hit my heart so hard. Endless sympathy for these lyrics.
hope your mom recovers
I was gonna like your comment but man that is depressing. I’m so sorry. 🥺
This song is…. One hell of a masterpiece! I’ve listened to songs shedding light on vulnerability before and I have shed a few tears to them but this is the first song to actually make me full on cry.
The lyrics, the tune, Brendon’s voice, it’s just…. perfect.
Great work P!ATD and co.
It rips off last Christmas . Not exactly a masterpiece . Good plagiarism though .
@@Matthew9818 I can hear it. Doesn’t mean you have to discredit it
@@Matthew9818 Making a similar note progression isn't plagiarism. That's literally the only thing remotely similar in both songs. It's something pretty common in music, two people can create similar sounding music without one ever taking inspiration from the other. This however, isn't that. I've listened to both, back to back, and the note progression use is there. But the thing is, he uses different notes. Using a note progression that was used in an older song doesn't make it plagiarism, it just means the progression is common.
@@Matthew9818 chord progression isnt plagiarism though?
I’ve been loving these music videos, this one obviously took inspiration from take on me and it’s awesome!
Take on me was a bit more romantic! Lol great vids both of them through
Heard this song at the Goodlife Gym. Couldn't find the song anywhere online until I heard it again at the gym. I see why now. It's not popular, it's a hidden gem. A diamond in the rough. It deserves to be heard on the radio!
Ive been going through some rough times and i feel like this is the song i needed to hear, i miss everyone i need.
Can’t you reach out to them? It’s ok to try.
I enjoy how every song is more or less a direct homage to one or several classic songs.
This is genuinely one of my favorite songs they’ve ever put out, they definitely saved the best single for last
She said Viva Las Vengeance
@@dangerousvillain7278 that one's almost tied with this one for me

Brendon has inspired many people including me.
Brendon will always be in our hearts. And all the memories will never fade.
Brendon has some amazing talent and creativity in his body, and those two things won’t fade in him, as long as we Don’t Let The Light Go Out by continuing to listen to his music and never stop.
And because of him I am now an official artist, and I couldn’t be more happy.
This song is beautiful! Don't let the light go out🥺
This album was soooo worth the wait!! I'm thrilled I'm going to get to see it performed live!!!
Video is amazing. Brendon's voice sounds so good especially in a lower notes, very soothing. ❤️
Yes, we need his ballad, low register.
This song is such a bop
Slaps so hard
I luv Brendon Urie's performance of don't let the light go out from the VMAs ☺️👍🏽
Love him forever. Don't care about those clueless TikTokers hatin' on him.
Brilliant artist brilliant song... love it ❤
That’s just it. They are clueless and tasteless.
Panic! At the Disco is one of the few artists which are innovating and creating good stuff in 2022.
Along with twenty one pilots.
@@onefootwander3131 are they releasing new music this year?
Add the killers to that list
**Panic! At The Disco but that's true!
@@kevinrid5113 their recent music is less rock, i don't like it
Best song on this album - it sounds like it belongs on a jukebox.
I'm calling it now, "Song of the Year"
Why does this remind me so much of ‘last Christmas’
love the style of this music video!! the instrumental reminds me of vices & virtues, love it 🤍
My favorite song of the entire album. Thanks a lot, Panic!

I'm glad I'm not the only one... As soon as I heard the lyrics I just can't help but picture being in a hospital room losing someone you love...
The fact that this doesn't have 10s of millions of views like all this autotuned trash they put out now indicates that's I'm getting old...it takes a lot for me to hear a song one time and absolutely love it...this song is gold
I’m gonna see panic at the disco for the first time and one of my first ever concerts too
Same!!
he puts on a wonderful concert, one of the best ones I've ever seen!!
I saw panic in 2018 for the first time it was the first concert I've ever gone to. It was an amazing show, Brendon is a wonderful performer and the energy in that concert was absolutely amazing, best expirience of my life hands down. Have a great time!!
This is where I deeply believe that Brendon is truly getting inspiration from Queen themselves. The opening in this song sounds very similar to Queen's Friends will be Friends. It is amazing and the lyrics actually fit well! Brendon actually sounds good in this one as well.
Actually, listen to "Can't Smile Without You" by Barry Manilow
@@seanrodman2767 and some of the beat reminds me of Be My Baby
He got a Freddie Mercury tattoo the other day! Definitely was inspired by Queen!
It also samples at seventeen by Janis Ian
I also hear “Love Hurts” by Nazareth
This song randomly played once and it’s now a must-listen on a daily basis. I think my mom thinks I’m crazy 😅
Same 🥰
I got a lot of stuff lately and was not able to process the news when it came out. I grew up with their songs and their music helped me get through my ups, downs and in-betweens. It's sad to think that there would be no more new panic songs, albums and concerts to anticipate. But that's life and we they all got to move on with their lives as we should with ours.
It is an honor to have known their music - and I'll always be thankful to the band for putting all those masterpiece out. You have inspired many in many ways and to extend you would not have imagined. Panic! At The Disco's music will definitely live on and outlive us all.
This is by far the best song on the album. It is an absolute masterpiece in a sea of musical pop mediocrity
in a world full of g4rb4ge pop-punk revival songs we're blessed by this
it's alright. brendon uries singing is unlistenable tho
Really? “Leave Before You Love Me” from the Jonas Brothers sounds exactly like this song…not to mention Wham’s “Last Christmas.”
The album is good tho. Viva las vengeance is honestly the best one so far.
@@adairdick3488 nah his singing here is making me tear up tbh
CANT WAIT TO SEE IT LIVE!!
This man has been making me cry for 17 years. That's fucked up, Brendon.
Very 50s sounding love it. Braking the mold and bringing some good music in a creative drought.
