Stan is such a relatable character. Constantly shut down and treated like a mistake by his family, to the point they abandon him and kicked him to the curb. But he never let it stop him. He loved his family and never stopped trying to save his brother, even though he had no idea how or the science behind it. He gave up what life he had and tried time and time again, managing to save Stanford. What did he get for his troubles? Punched to the ground and never thanked once. In the end he gave all he had, and became the greatest hero in the universe, destroying the dream demon, Bill at the cost of all his memories.

Back then I never really realized how much of a character Stan was, I always believed he was just the fun uncle even after the secret.. but really he’s one of the most relatable and most heroic characters ever. He saved his twin and never forgave himself for what he did, even after how he was treated by his family, not to mention that he was never thanked and in the end sacrificed himself for everyone and everything at the cost of his own memories.. He’s a real one.*
I just noticed this but Stan wasn’t the smart brother yet he was capable of rebuilding the portal with just on journal to the point he required the other two just to finish like he was so close to completing it that he was almost done by himself so Stan might not be the smartest of the two yet his own determination to get his brother back caused his brain to go into overtime
He's not the booksmart kinda guy. But he is the capable kind, the kind that can find their way out of a keyless cage if you give em time. The kind that will do what they have to to get to a to b. The kind that can roll with the punches and knows it is when it is.
@fallen_angelmemesforlife9172 He's more than that. Stan, since his childhood, only wants his brother. He adores Stanford. He wanted nothing more than to be on a boat and explore with his brother. He's the reason, in his eyes, Stanford even disappeared in the first place. In his eyes, Stan had to make it right, he had to get Stanford back. He had to say he was sorry. But, when he saw him again, it was as if their argument never ended. Stanford got angry, words were exchanged, time passed, and before they knew it, Bill Cipher and the Weirdpocalypse were on their doorstep. And even then, against an almost primal force, Stan wanted to make the sacrifice so Stanford didn't have to. Stan did what he had to to save his family. To save his grand nephew and niece, to save his town, to save his brother. Arguably, every important choice Stan ever made in the show was made with his family, and his brother, in mind.
I'd say he was the smart brother. Not only did he rebuild a machine he knew nothing about, but he didn't make a deal with an entity every single thing you looked at said in big letters, "don't make a deal with it!" And still made a deal with it. Id say Stan is the smarter of the two brothers.

I'm so glad this came upon my recommendations. Such a sad song, for such a determined individual who never was 'good enough'. But you'll always be the hero in the hearts of your family.
I literally cannot get over how well this is made. The song choice fitting Stan to a T for starters - "the man I know I'm not" connecting to ford is genius, the connection to a heavy heart, and the sentimental moments that can connect to what he has now with Dipper and Mable is brilliant. And connecting "The man I know I'm not" to 3 important scenes - one with him taking over a new persona, one where he remembers his brother and what happened to him, and the final where his brother actually starts his sacrifice. But a lot of songs can match- what gets me is the editing. Starting from the beginning of the song as with his life, using the breakdown before the final chorus to introduce ford majestically, using the final chorus with clips from the finale of the show, the entire segment of 3:14 being timed with the quick transitions, and especially when he has his memory erased and everything turns grey. Hell, you can even make the argument that the scenes picked for that are intentional, since each one shows a mirror that has his reflection in it. It's almost like we see the last time he truly "knew" himself before fading away, literally losing sight of what you are. The tribute may genuinely be the best I have ever seen.
Thank you for noticing all the work I put in! :D The final "Like the man I know I'm not" is probably my favorite of the three because of all the layers it has. On one hand, it's Stan taking his brother's identity again. On the other, it's Stanley giving up his true identity. On the other, other, it's a reflection on Ford's part, that Stanley is the man he knows he's not. Yes all, the black and white scenes were intentional and meant to represent that Stan was slipping away from himself. Stanley has a uniquely prominent relationship with mirrors and duplicates throughout the series, and every time he interacts with these duplicates he becomes a lot more honest and insecure. I wanted to bring that in as a final punctuation of who he is vs who he pretends to be.
Stan was willing to lose everything he ever had, all the memories he’d made with Dipper and Mabel, just to save them and the rest of the world. And that’s not just selflessness, or heroism, or courage; that’s love.
I love happy endings, but they took that sacrificial moment from Stan. His entire life was chaotic by his own mistakes and some unfortunate circumstances, even when he does something good he doesn't get thanked or praised. He tried doing, fixing his life but it was never good enough. Getting his mind erased in the end would be the perfect end of Stan, incredibly sad, but much more impactful ending. He would've been remembered as the Hero of the world and doing something selfless which ultimately saved his brother, his family and the whole world. The saddest, but also the happiest ending for Stan.
@@peolfpetler8500The "Happiest" ending for Stan........... God I keep coming back to this day after day. This is quite possibly the BEST possible song that you could’ve chosen to represent Stanley pines. He stole his brothers identity for 30 years(the man he knows he not), he’s got a heavy heart that holds him down, he’s taking every chance he’s got, his conscience is heavier then his ego, etc… I could go on and on about how good of a fit this song is for him. The ones that are the most broken are the ones that always seem cheerful because the good things they have in their life they treasure. He went out in a bang and still with a smile. He never needed to be anything more or less than what he already was. A damn strong willed man with a lot of love, determination, and a pig lol. this is one of my favourite songs and probably my favourite PatD song. I knew exactly what song it would be just from the title of the video. The edit goes crazy hard my brother
I recently watched and finished Gravity Falls for the first time over the Christmas holidays. It was such a good show that I'm at the point of crying whenever I see a video like this because I know that I'll never be able to watch it the same way again. No more mystery for not just the characters but me too. No more knowing what could possibly happen next in an episode. No more seeing the amazing character development of characters like Pacifica and McGucket. And I know that I'll soon feel this for SVTFOE and The Owl House too because with every episode I watch, I know that I'm getting closer to the end of the best part of watching a series. I know I need to come to terms with it one way or another, but I am truly sad knowing that the story of Gravity Falls is over for me. Either way, this was an AMAZING show with incredible characters, foreshadowing, stories, mysteries, etc. I always think to myself: where were these shows when I was young? I feel like I've missed out on a massive and beautiful piece of my childhood. I am nowhere near being an OG fan but better late than never, right? To anyone who read this whole thing, I hope at least someone relates to my story; I hope that there are many more people who were late to hop on the train of wonder that Gravity Falls still healthily runs to this day. ❤
Actually there is some extra story if you'd like😂... I discovered Gravity falls a long time ago but I remembered it yesterday and now paying for Disney+ showed me that there were more content 😂❤ I will watch it and I hope you enjoyed your time 😂
@@coralinebl3856You won't regret it! 👍 The only thing you will regret is finishing it too fast, I recommend trying to control how many episodes you watch within certain periods of time. This is just my opinion and you can feel free to binge watch the entire thing if you want. 😂 Either way, I hope you enjoy the show! ❤
Oh my god this is amazing!!! This song is perfect for Stan and it’s so well edited great job!!! This literally just became one of my favorite stan amvs! It needs more views!!!
That's a popular theory. People also think that the reason he had such a surprised reaction when he first saw it was because he mistook it for Stanford at a glance.
This whole edit is such an amazing piece of work even after 5 years, How you edited this, the song perfectly fits each moment of Stan life and perfectly describe Stan sacrifice he did for family. I love stan and he was just a great written character
I really love this series. It’s one of my favorites at all times and I don’t get tired of watching it. In the beginning I wasn’t sure what I should think about Stan, but than slowly I liked him more and more. He is a true hero who gave up his live - or literally everything - only to save Ford. If I was Ford, I would have said thanks at some point. Without Stan he wouldn’t be back. Of course I understand Fords reaction too, but he don’t know how Stan felt after he was gone and what Stan gave up for him. Stan isn’t in my very top character favorites, but he’s on place 4. I really like him and I love the show ❤
This song was in my recommended and I've never heard of Gravity Falls before. The song + editing+ the commets + my curious= Me buying all four seasons off amazon just to watch. I have no regerts because the show was wonderful and full of all age entertainment. i know later in the future i will rewatch them but a full 2 days of watching it was enough for now. Thank you Poot Puff for making this. 🌟🌟🌟

I couldn't be mad at Stan He just wanted his brother back and he regrets his mistake. But honestly, his brother, who was always upshoting him and inadvertently and never bothered to talk to him. Everybody blamed him for abruptly. So naturally he would push him and he got upset, but he didn't know what happened. He didn't know about the portal. He literally sacrificed his everything for his family. Hard did not respect someone for that.
Just realised now why the fake death for his wax sculpture hit him so hard, it was him trying to get closure from his brother, but not being able to give up on him.

Stan is one of the best characters. Thanks for making such an amazing amv
Man, I need to rewatch this Series
Oh my god this is amazing!!! This song is perfect for Stan and it’s so well edited great job!!! This literally just became one of my favorite stan amvs! It needs more views!!!
I’m fairly sure that Tale of Two Pines and Not What He Seems are the two most AMV’d pieces of media ever, and for good reason
Gravity Falls needs more episodes! I cried when the last one ended. I love this show so much!
Now that i think about it is the reason why stanly like his statue so much is becouse it remind him of his brother?
That's a popular theory. People also think that the reason he had such a surprised reaction when he first saw it was because he mistook it for Stanford at a glance.
This whole edit is such an amazing piece of work even after 5 years, How you edited this, the song perfectly fits each moment of Stan life and perfectly describe Stan sacrifice he did for family. I love stan and he was just a great written character
This just makes me want to watch all over again....
man i love gravity falls, if possible i wanna be reborn there. at my current age tho dont exactly wanna be 10 again
Thanks for introducing this song to me, it's in my playlist now
Wow I gotta say, this song actually works perfect for Stan from this series, Since he took his own brothers name just for a living. Love it 😉😎
Our consciences are always so much heavier than our egos
1:38-1:39, on the left side of the screen shortly after the car flips you can see Blendin Blenjamin Blandin for a very small frame

Fellow Pines- a moment to remember those amazing four years and the echoes that followed.
It was an honor sharing this journey with all of you.
See you next Summer.
great song, even better show for editing.
hm 4 years and its still recommended
I just had the WORST nightmare of my whole life and this was in my recommendation, it helped me clam down
Thank you for the video. It's... what I needed.
Si, lo diré. Stan Pines, tú eres mi héroe proporcional favorito de todo el cine.
Still so good.
Thanks for sharing this.
man this is real good
I like it!
This song suits him.
For anyone wondering, song is "Turn off the lights" by panic! At the disco
He did his best
Truly perfect
Turns out the whole series was Stanley's story
If the scp foundation or an equivalent was a thing in the gravity falls universe then ford would likely be employed by them or amnestisied for researching the anomalous
This is Panic! At the disco. Everywhere I look I can only find 2 unofficial uploads on youtube. WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?
From what I read in the comments from those, it was a bonus sound track if you pre-ordered their album vices&virtue
Oh, it definitely fits him!! 😩😩💔💔
Very nice and amazing amv, thank you so much for making it!! ❤❤❤
1:31 i just say it's legend
Just realised now why the fake death for his wax sculpture hit him so hard, it was him trying to get closure from his brother, but not being able to give up on him.
Best AMV I've seen in a while
I can't believe we're coming up on the 8 year anniversary of when GF ended
Ford really didn't want to erase his twin's memory
How did he get his glasses back when he came from the portal ?
Don't know. Maybe he had spares, maybe Stan sent some through earlier as a test run, or maybe he found another pair while wandering the multiverse.
Ohh good point
Yeah
@@pootpuff1753 Isn't it kinda canon that he met Rick?
@@panzerlite8108 Yeah, I think so. We at least know that the portals are connected since the coffee mug Stan lost to the portal ends up on Rick and Morty.
The editing is really good!
This is pretty well done!
I've got to rewatch the show
This is amazing
One of my favorite shows of all time, and Gruncle Stan is easily my favorite character in the show. Yeah, he's an ass and a con man, but what he's willing to do and sacrifice for his family just makes me love him. Plus he's funny and relatable.
