I'm very glad that Dexter clips are allowed on youtube now, tv showrunners need to understand clips doesn't decrease viewship but actually increases it, hadn't thought about the show in a few years but since watching the clips I'm binge watching season 1 on Paramount+
NOOO, ONLY WE CAN POST CLIPS OF OUR SHOW!
Seriously, what the fuck are these companies thinking
Corporate are manipulative fucks, they think they can only upload dexter clips.
@anthonyfernandez82 They're not that's the thing.
I’m hoping it’s part of a sea change at Paramount. They’ve been done right hostile to reviewers, fans, and reviewer-fans. Their closed door policies have led to too many good shows disappearing.
Small world. I just subscribed to Paramount only to find out that they put the show back on Netflix. Which I already have, and what I first watched it on and use to go back to regularly until they took it off. I'm binge watching on both now lol.
Deb witnessing Dexter kill Travis on the altar has to be the highest stressful situation I have ever been in my life.
Someone needs to watch Breaking Bad, and get back to me after the episode "Crawl Space." Not talking shit, genuinely interested in what your reaction to that would be...
@@tankmaster1018 I’ve seen breaking bad and it’s one of my favorites too. But Walter White himself tries to give clues to his police brother in law just to get the kicks out of it. So I’ve never really worried about BB characters. I’ve just enjoyed watching them. Whereas Dex 100% tries to always stay away from the police. So him getting exposed to his own sister was obviously the highest stress. At least for me. What do you think?
@tankmaster1018 Cooking meth is quite a few notches down compared to, well, *murder*
Nah fr tho. Like people give the last season a lot of shit but I was so invested the whole time.
@Sniperboy5551 I'd argue against that since the effects of Meth are arguably worse than just dying. It's poison that kills you slowly and it effects more than one person at a time. Then there's killings surrounding the meth business.
That first scene is so beautifull!! Their body language speaks about trust and love. The way they talk to eachother.. I just love that scene
Right?? So natural too. The casting for this show is off the charts! The only character I didn't care for much was Travis. I like Colin as an actor just not for that role/character. He didn't feel authentic. It felt forced.
The casting in this is so good all around, but Deb really stands out. Her sibling dynamic with Dexter feels so authentic.
isn't she the girl from serenity the mechanic that fixes the ship
Exactly. I mean DeX is the star but deb is such a great character and the actress really nailed the role too. She seems like a kind of goofy, boyish sister which really sells her as the sister and their sibling relationship. But shes also always so expressive and wearing her heat on her sleeve which makes her very human and a great juxtaposition against dexter.
@@Aaron-zu3xn nope
I mean I definitely agree that I love debs character and her dynamic with Dexter, but the way they interacted was definitely a little too close for siblings sometimes (prob bc of the relationship between the actors at one point).
@@brookalinithegreat8443 You mean BEFORE the bizarre thing with the suggestive therapist? I'll keep an eye out on my next rewatch
maaaan, the actress who played deb is such a gorgeous woman with a lovely voice
Tell me about it! She is super gorgeous❤❤❤
She looks like she's about to cry all the time. But I think that's a part of her charm. Would be lying if I said 19 yr old me didn't have a crush in her back in 2006 when dexter premiered.
She was on the movie White Chicks lol
@@pvenoob she wasn't like that when the show started. She aged well and became better with face curves.
Love the tone change from the "I snapped" to "Who are you calling?"
Deb: “Did you kill all these people?”
Dexter: “Yeah but they were all bad!”
True lies reference?
Jennifer is literally perfect in every way, im so in love with her
She’s cute, but she always looks like she has to shit
is she the mechanic redhead from firely/serenity just older? i swear they look very alike
@@Aaron-zu3xnmechanic? Kaylee wasn’t a redhead. Also no she isn’t in Firefly
I forgot about that scene near the end where Dexter is holding Harrison and Deb tells him about how he’s always been a great big brother, made me cry back then and made me cry again just now 😢
I just got done watching season 1, and while Dexter claims he has no feelings, I definitely think he genuinely cares and loves Deb, because he was very worried about her once he learned the Ice truck killer had her.
He said in the first ep. if he had feelings they would be for Deb. He most definitely loved her... He probably didn't even realize how much or how to comprehend the feelings he had... and why they differed from how he felt about everyone else.
@@jamillajohnson6108 Yh and harry didn't live long enough to teach him such things but even he was appalled by who dexter was to the point of it killing him since he loved dexter but knew dexter couldn't love him or anyone else the same way back due to how messed up he truly was. Deb didn't seem to notice the off side of dexter as much and probably just him as a socially awkward nerd who was intelligent, since there are such people around so didn't really see it until she knew who he was, until he broke down who he was too
@@Local-Vibes4444 I think she did. She always mention how awkward he was growing up and not like other people. But to her that was his strength it's what made him, him. Her stories of how he would lay at the foot of her bed when she was scared... He never realized, it was because he loved her, and didn't want her to be scared that he did things like that.. His actions always spoke louder than his words.. Yet subconsciously his actions were full of love and caring. Even as adults he was always there when she was in the hospital, just waiting on her to wake up.
Dexter didn't connect the dots that you do those things for people you love... if you didn't care, you wouldn't care to be there in the first place. He didn't do it as a cover... with Batista he did... His inner monologue said it... But with Deb it's instinct to be there for her..
I found a fun fact about the Creator's meaning behind the naming of Dexter/Debra. He based it as upon the mathematical theory A+B=B-A= ... Meaning one cannot be without the other or they cannot exist without the other... Their personalities he based off Freud's ID vs The Ego. Dexter is the ID / Debra is the Ego..
@@jamillajohnson6108 They almost seem kind of codependent
@@chadwickreno8499 Codependency is when one person needs the other to be a certain way in order for them to be able to function. This was not the case with Deb and Dexter.
A codependent relationship is more Dexter and Lumen - Dexter needed Lumen to be damaged and full of revenge in order for him to feel good about what he was doing. He was codependent on her suffering in order to feel justified in being a killer and it be "Okay". Once Lumen was free from that bondage she didn't require Dexter's codependency and he couldn't make her stay. Continuing to do what he did without a reason... Because Lumen at the core was not a killer... Which is why he said "I will carry your darkness with my own"
Deb and Dexter were different. They were one coin two side. One void of emotions/One full of emotions. Without the other they both couldn't function properly. Not one needing the other to be a certain way.. They were just that way and worked. They fit like a glove.. Which is different from "Codependency".
When Deb wasn't talking to Dex in season 8 he couldn't handle it because he felt like the other half of him was gone... He was lost... With Lumen he had no issues going right back to his ways.. There was no feeling of complete loss of self.. With Deb he felt like he, himself was "lost".
Once Deb released her last breath... Dexter released his last breath of humanity...
Only thing keeping him from losing it was Deb's constant reminder of the human within him.. He always referred to himself as a monster... He definitely didn't want to be around Harrison after her death... Especially not knowing what he'd do while seeing red bringing to much danger into Harrison's life..
As we see in New Blood... Dexter literally teaching his son how to kill and get away with it! Wow... the Dexter we knew would NEVER... But what we saw was 10 years later Dexter in isolation with no one to ground him... Except the memory of you guess it... Debra
And he always said that he didn’t want his son growing up to be a serial killer and he made him just that
@@dcd05 He made him an accessory to murder and a killer... I actually think Harrison will become a cop, and be like Deb. Harrison when talking to Dexter about Kurt was talking about turning him in for the crimes he committed, and then after he shot Dexter immediately turns himself into Angela. He was more like Deb than he was like Dexter.
I think as he grows up he is going to end up being a detective like Deb..
The scene where Deb stands up for Dex after Doakes says he’s gonna file a complaint makes the end of the series so much worse 😢
IMO they should’ve done something where Dex dies to save Deb, she didn’t deserved to die 😭
Hey you shouldn't be giving out season 8 spoilers. Atleast write spoiler alert at the start.
@edgelord121 bro it was in the video
@@edgelord121this show is to old to be worried about spoilers
@@edgelord121
It ended 12 years ago and started 18 years ago. At some point spoilers aren't cared about.
@@GumbocinnoI learned about the show this year.
I think people should just add a spoiler warning.
1. It’s easy to do.
2. Not everyone has seen the show.
3. Dexter is incredibly popular. And for people in the comments it maybe their favourite show.
4. Just have class.
Deb always looked and sounded like she was about to cry.
Yeah, but she’s still cute
I know
hot
She was the emotional one, where Dexter was void of them. They offset and anchored each other.
Deb was the Ego to Dexter's Id (Freud's theory)
Dexter/Id was the primitive side of the brain, acting on impulses and aggressive urges. No time for thinking of consequences (example: His reluctancy to kill Trinity, which lead to Rita's death).. The Id is instinctively selfish..
Deb was the Ego to that... Deb was the side/personality to Dexter that acted with principle and grounded him in reality. A sense of humiliation or to humble thy self. She brought forth realization. (example: When she caught Dexter sleeping with Lila. She told him he messed up, because it's not just Rita he cheated on. It was her children also. That looked to him as a dad.)
Of course she is going to cry a lot... She held the weight of not just her emotional baggage, but took on Dexter's baggage too.
These two are magic together the way they played off each other. The mannerisms and interactions were perfect !!!
0:12 jeez Deb. Where the hell do you keep your gun?? 😂😂😂😂
“It was self defense” 😂 bro he’s naked on an altar, wrapped in plastic wrap, Dexter is wearing an apron and gloves 😂 this was CLEARLY planned out Deb
Jennifer Carpenter is such an amazing actress! Why has no one put her in another major role, in either a prestige series or big film? She’s a brilliant actress, who just crushed this role for YEARS!
It’s her condition that prevents her from getting major roles.
@@82dupontWhat condition?
The best 2 characters in the series !!! I love dexter so much and the ending is very misunderstood, it’s sad, it’s poetic, it’s tough and unexpected. Really heartbreaking and I love it ❤
Killing off Deb was a huge mistake. She deserved so much better.
The hospital scenes with Deb always make me cry. They have such a beautiful bond.♥
Such a shame, Debra always lost a piece of herself with each season until eventually there was nothing left.
The chemistry between them better then hannah and dexter..
Agree!!
"where the hell do you keep your gun?" 😂 Lol
Watched another clip a couple days ago and now this and I just realized something.
Aside from obviously the big bad serial killer of each season, the only ones from the main cast to ever be in the kill room (physically shooting the scene and plastic wrapped - not really in the story) were just Dexter and Deb.
Poetic.
I've never seen a single episode of Dexter.Maybe I should watch,,been watching these clips lately seems like I may enjoy it.
That’s how I got to watching breaking bad a few years back, best decision ever and Dexter is no different
Dexter seems so much less awkward in the first scene i feel like they make him more socially awkward as time goes on
I would’ve folded so hard for Deb
2:02 something is up with that man and his bagel 😂
Wtf never saw that 😂
Jennifer Carpenter is absolutely gorgeous ❤
They play brother and sister but were actually married or dating each other.
At one point, yes. By the time they had a relationship on the show, though, they had broken up for good.
What are you doing with Zach and Hanna is a hotel room… serial killer conviction” best Deb line.
I'd forgotten how fine Jennifer Carpenter was.
He the lady who played Deb in as sooooooo fucking HOT.
I eas always upset that Dexter never brought up the fact that she ALREADY LET HIM GO ONCE...with Lumen...she just didnt know it.
Did Dexter not know how fucking creepy he sounded telling Deb how he was gonna make Travis seem like a suicide ? Like dude totally snapped
Dexter barely avoids sounding creepy 99% of the time, hard to blame him in this case when Deb caught him *tying a dude to a table wrapped in plastic and then ritualistically executing him in a manner that transcends all possible justifications of self-defense*
Deb "bought" his excuse at the time because she needed to, because her psyche could not cope with the reality of it and she was willing to briefly convince herself of the most far-fetched excuses possible, but that all unraveled in the span of 24 hours.
Aww you didnt show everyone's favorite plot line where deb gets feelings for dexter
That plot line was weird and unnecessary af.
I hope you’re being sarcastic.
It was a bit weird, but then again it also wasn't even close to the weirdest thing in the show.

You should have put their scene at the underground parking lot in season 7 where Dexter tells Deb about Isaac Darko and she slips on him.
Dexter was SO different in episode 1...
I really loved when deb and Dexter were together.
why not upload whole series to youtube at this point? AD revenue would go wild
And I love that all this is available to watch on Netflix now !!!
Someone will disagree with what I am about to say but I don't particularly care; dexter kind of was the good guy( in the beginning) and the writers should have kept him that way concerning how he stuck to his father's code of going after bad people only; he could have ignored that and went after anyone he wanted at any time, he could have given in to the temptation of killing the security guard his brother had laid before him at the abandoned hospital or his sister at their childhood home but he chose to follow his father's rules despite his own issues with him because deep down he really didn't want to hurt innocent people and season after season was showing him striving to be a better person and was achieving that slowly especially with lumen in season 5 and brother sam in season 6, Hannah in season 7 Was the worst character ever thought of for her corruptive influence is what brought down Dexter's Integrity and ruined him from being the lovable and honorable character we all know from the books and earlier seasons,
the show's 2 endings was I feel very disappointing because they wrote it and his character all wrong for he wouldn't have given in to his grief over the loss of his sister to where he would abandon his own son, sure he would be at his lowest for a minute but he would pull himself together and remember the promise he made to deb of how he would always be there for harrison no matter what and you can't sit there and convince me that a small town sheriff like his girlfriend angela would be able to bust a notorious killer like Dexter based on circumstantial evidence not to mention the tranquilizer formula is not the same; he never used kenimine on his targets he used M99,
The writers should have continued adapting his story from the novels for they had tons of potential of doing and successfully pulling off a reverse breaking bad and the blacklist with the character, turning him into his very own sophisticated concierge of crime fighting with a vast network of resources at his disposal to help him hunt those that escape justice while keeping him 2 steps ahead of the people he works for in law enforcement who feels and views himself as the "the bad guy" that doesn't believe he can change but doesn't want to disappoint his father, his best friend angel, his wife, kids and sister by giving up trying with case after case and ultimate showdowns with the main antagonist of the season pushing him further and further down the path of being a honorable, righteous and semi-heroic individual with new blood being his swan song where he sacrifices himself to save his son, his son's girlfriend along with his own girlfriend from Kurt Caldwell, his son and the billionaire character they had in there that was serving as a red herring, have it where he had a connection to kurt and was involved somehow in covering up his secret of being the runaway killer and Dexter dying ending their threat once and for all thus earning his redemption which brings his story arc full circle with him ultimately breaking good,
As for doakes the most annoying thing about him was his hypocritical attitude towards dexter when he tried to get him in trouble for just doing his job as a blood spatter specialist after he in an act of revenge shot dead a former death squad operative who was unarmed and tried to cover it up with lies which put his partner angel batista in a very uncomfortable situation of possibly turning him in to be arrested by IA until he was given a pass by the government,
It should have been written and adapted according to the way it worked out in the books where they worked together to take down a cartel leader and doakes was severely maimed by the main antagonist dr danco to where he lost his legs and arms and tongue as a consequence for killing in cold blood that death squad operative who just so happened to be related to the villain, dexter tries to save him despite him knowing his secret but fails, he goes into a comma and dies later on in the 3rd season but Is revered as a hero cop and posthumously awarded a medal for risking his life to bring down dr danko who gets framed by Dexter as the Bay Harbor butcher,
the same scenario can be applied but altered to the character Maria Laguerta, have the consequences of her actions in season 2 befall her in season 7 by having esme come back for revenge on laguerta for ruining her career by using her secret connections to the criminal underworld to frame her and make her look as if she's losing her mind like what laguerta did to her by sleeping with her boyfriend and have it where Debra is the one that tries to save her but fails with season 8 being the final season that deals with the fallout of that event and Dexter being the loving caring brother that he's been towards her trying to help her overcome the grief of laguerta's death all while dealing with the reign of terror from the brain surgeon, I say all of that to say that joe from the show YOU doesn't hold a candle to dexter and that dexter would have that despicable man for breakfast, lunch and dinner to feed the very jackels he came from! 🔥😁😉👍
This is the very definition of word vomit. Literally nobody is going to read all that, especially when you clearly failed English since you clearly don't know what punctuation is.
How many times are you going to copy and paste this same essay?
@Sniperboy5551 It's my way of engaging different people with different opinions! Lol
@@Sniperboy5551lol he does say this on every Dexter video. I’d respond to it if he shorten it up.
Deb is easily one of my favorite female characters of all time. She's simultaneously a mess and an incredible detective. She show's the one thing we in society don't understand, and that's that you can be messy, scared, strong, smart. Emotional and tough, absolutely terrified of trusting people but still does.
20:05 esta escena me recuerda mucho a Breaking Bad, cuando Hank se da cuenta de que Walter es Heinsenberg, y así mismo se queda mirándolo y luego lo golpea. Qué genial.
Never cared for the writers deciding to have Deb find out about Dex. It just changed things too much.
Dexter is a big man now
Deb falling in love with Dexter was nauseating. Big mistake.
She always loved him, they planned that since season 1.
I thought it made a lot of sense and they should have followed through with it. It’s a show about a serial killer 🤷🏻♀️ Dexter did more nauseating stuff like framing Doakes as the BHB.
You know whats crazy is that dexter got by killing animals before the show started, and he got by killing after the show ended until the reboot. Harry said if you have to kill people, here’s who you need to be and how you need to do it. Dexter probably could have just made a great butcher or taxidermist instead. Just like how they explain Doake’s dad being a butcher, maybe it would have worked for Dexter. Or, maybe he just needs to kill anything he gets close to, so, animals are easy. But the reboot makes it seem like he’s okay not killing if he has to not
Harry had a talk with Dexter about who all he wants to hurt or kill. When he said people, he also witness Dexter going after another teen with a boxcutter... He knew eventually Dexter would end up killing a person. Harry, may not have taken the best options available to him. Which was probably slim to none. The force would have him committed and Harry didn't want that. So he taught him who to kill and how to do it without getting caught..
Dexter teaching Harrison to kill, was way out of line. Harrison, could've been help with intensive therapy. Once Harrison was aware of where his anger was coming from and who his dad really was. Harrison chose the right thing to do. He was the first to suggest turning Kurt in, He was the one to offer to turn himself in after killing Dexter.
New Blood he was "sober" so his ritual/routine was to hunt without killing. He ran after the white deer every morning. Only sustained from killing. Just like any one with substance issues, if you have one you have another. For Dexter had he killed an animal, he'd end up killing a person... He stayed away from blood or butchery anyway he could. It triggers him.
Dexter never killed again for 10 years until Matthew Caldwell in the spin-off. Debra was his last victim until then.

Fix Dexter New Blood ending please
You know there is a disturbingly large group of people that genuinely think new blood is a perfect ending.
It was mildly better than the original ending. Dexter leaving his son with serial poisoner and fucking off to larp as a lumber jack.
They should have just ended with the season being a his life flashing before him as they're administering the lethal injection. While Deb watches on with a blank expression and her badge and gun and resignation on her desk at the station next to dexter's criminal file. Dont even have to show whether deb adopts harrison. There, its fixed.
Fuck me you put this on every dexter video, it's just not happening😂
