Jane has his jacket off in the next scene 5.. the other mafioso says "I should have shot you myself" 6. they appear to be on the green (end of golf course) near the road (witnesses) when Jane starts acting up in the end 7. lastly the main mafia dude says "you're lucky you help me beat Arnold Palmer here."

A mob boss wouldn't bring a hesitating newbie for his own protection, while otoh the gunman would be around any longer if he didn't shoot when ordered. Imo this is a script flaw, where character believability (is that a word?) is sacrificed for that moment of tension that comes with "shoot him!". [Edit: Guessing from the fade-cut, that's probably to keep viewers from commercial-zapping] Of course one might argue that Jane did know but was just playing along...

If he really wanted to have Patrick be shot, he would have said something else like "get him out of my sight" (drag him away to a place with no witnesses and shoot him) or something like that. :)
Or maybe the gunman was merely an actor and didn't shoot because it wasn't in the script. You make big mistakes if you believe television mirrors reality.

I saw the first TV show he did as a lawyer but not all of them. I like it and I noticed that he does not have the connection like he does with this one on the Mentalist. Talking about the women folk. And all of his movies are good also except I havent seen the newest one but I am sure its good.

The end would never happened in real life. There is no reason to burn a bridge that was built. You never know when he might need to talk to the guy again. Insulting him might feel good, but completely counter productive in the grand scheme of things. But then again, this is a movie, and Jane is more likable that way.
