This was dexters karma :( he had so many chances to either kill Trinity or leave it alone for good so he could live happily with Rita and the kids he had it all
I honestly think the show should have ended after the Trinity season. Sucks that Rita died. It sounded like he was going to give up killing when he was narrating on the boat. Only to come home to find out his son ended up experiencing the same trauma as he did. His eulogy, and maybe a slight epilogue would have been better, before he decided that risking something like that happening again but to his kids was not okay and that he'd give it up for good.
Honestly wholeheartedly agree. I absolutely hate how the writers on season 5 treated Dexter mourning his loss, and this is coming from someone who actually kinda liked season 5. I would've preferred for him to slowly start realizing that he can't keep up this killing spree any longer, (since it was written out that way that entire season) without putting his family in harm's way. At least have him struggle with that thought, and be hesitant to kill, not just be sad, then get up, shrug his shoulders, and start killing again, while f'ing some other chick like a month later, without having a second thought about Rita. Ik Dexter is a sicko, but damn he ain't that cold.
@@cynicalmemester1694I assume they’re referring to the fact that many believe that Dexter’s humanity and grief wasn’t fleshed out anywhere near enough after Rita’s death, and is one of the main reasons for the show’s decline by its end. He has a new love interest every season so it seems like he never cared about Rita and the villains from later seasons are nowhere near as compelling as the ITK/Doakes/Trinity/Miguel so he doesn’t wrestle with his nature anymore
@@yanosneverloses1147 his grief and feelings for her were very real, there are many faces for grief, and the way he reacted is how many people actually do... and if anything, any love interest that came after has somewhat resemblance to Rita, meaning he looked for someone like her... it wasn't a replacement, it wasn't because he never really loved her... even more so, he always tried to fill this whole again... that cabin's bathroom scene where he completely breaks down and actually sobs, there was no one in there, so it's not like he had to put on a show and yet it happened... we all try to find a substitute for someone or something we lost, it doesn't mean it wasn't real.
when dexter screamed... it was the first emotion he ever truly showed and meant.
Him crying for his brother as well when he had to kill him
