I can't believe how patient that bike was in the beginning. Very respectful, amazingly clean roads and a hunchback slender man with legs like tree trunks. Very impressive!
Drivers in Europe don't tend to be as much of the entitled maniacs on the roads that North Americans generally are when it comes to cyclists, runners, skaters etc. I definitely miss living there for that reason.

He was checking out the speed of this skater. I remember doing skating myself. Many could not believe how fast we went. Mostly as they passed they would tell us our speed before going further. Than we gave a thank you for informing us.

I’ve watched this video a thousand times and still I love that extreme outside edge carve! Unfortunately you don’t get to see it much these days with everyone on 125’s.
The skate technique is just so consistent and on-point. Amazing! I love flow skating, but speed skating can be amazing if done good.

Fantastic!! Getting goosebumps remembering the days like this. Skating was my life in 98-2000. It is one of the coolest looking movements and great exercise. Oh to have those days again. 🤗🙏🏿💪🏿👏🏿👍🏿

I use to speed skate and did Well in my middle school / high school years. This is exactly what we focused on 40 hours over a 2 day weekend. This is absolutely the defintion of efficiency over power. This gave me the urge again... Beautiful....

Been there, done that...Its still exciting watching this... Natl Champ in 1995 Rollerblade Series, Irvine, Ca... I will put the skates on soon on my channel, just to show i can still skate at 62 ... lol Winter training is cool. Put up to large pieces of foam about 8 feet apart, put on socks and slide to each side and push off... i love indoor training too..
I'm 65 and I skate for sure my speed is far from champion like Joe but my pleasure not so far...
Back in the day I bought blades so I could do what you doing. I fell backwards and that was the end of it. I still got the blades from my glory days 😁

There could be hundreds of Colombian world champions but no one like Joey Mantia, the best ever, he used to beat everyone in short and long distance races, all around complete skater, no one comes close to him, when he was skating in the world championships Colombians were nothing compare to him maybe a bit Pedro causil and Muñoz but they were only for short distance races not all around complete like him, even his technique still the best of all time

That's great, but why is it called double push?
Because before you do the classic single push, where you push your skate away from your body on the inside edge of the wheels, you perform a shorter but efficient push in the opposite direction underneath your body :)

Yea :) Some use them in racing too. As there is a lot more movement on skates than on a bike, the profile of the aerodynamic drag is quite different though :)

I’ve seen rowers having very good luck at road bike crit racing. I wonder how inline speed skaters would do with some training.
Well, tactically they'd do way better than rowers right off the bat. Race strategy is very similar to cycling.
