Bing sang this song in 1941 in the movie "Holiday Inn" - the introduction of this song. But please do not think all he did was Christmas. He was the top recording artist of his time and one of the top box office draws of his time. His style of singing was revolutionary. He sang jazz, country, western, and everything.

"White Christmas" is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting. The song was written by Berlin for the 1942 musical film Holiday Inn. The composition won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 15th Academy Awards.
Since its release, "White Christmas" has been covered by many artists, the version sung by Bing Crosby being the world's best-selling single (in terms of sales of physical media) with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide. The movie "White Christmas" was made in 1954. You should watch that.🌲🌲🌲🌲 Merry Christmas!

I grew up in the 1960s and 70s and my parents played music from this era all the time. I remember hearing this every Christmas as a child and it’s always going be connected with that wonderful time in my life. What a beautiful song. 🥲

This video of him singing his song White Christmas is from the movie Holiday Inn starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire rather than the movie White Christmas that Bing Crosby starred in with Dannie Kaye. They both are great classic movies that fun to watch but extra special to watch near to Christmas.

My favorite song, thanks for doing this! My grandmother used to sing this to me when I was only 5 or 6 years old. She always had one of those trees with the tinsel and glass ornaments like the one in that video! Another good one is Sleigh Ride by Johnny Mathis - there is a live version of him on Ed Sullivan

You should try the Little Drummer Boy duet of Bing Crosby and David Bowie, odd couple to sing together but one of my absolute favorites

Great reaction, Michael! You're an "old soul"! Thank you for reacting to this! Bing Crosby is a legend! He was a gentleman & so talented! I wasn't around when this came out but I grew up with this version of the song a decade or so after he first introduced it! My dad would only let me listen to songs like this! Merry Christmas from SE Tennessee!🌟⛪🛐🎄🎀

Those were all scenes from "Holiday Inn" released in 1942. All the music for the movie was written by Irving Berlin, who also wrote the music for White Christmas, another Bing Crosby movie released in 1954 and also including "White Christmas". My wife and I just watched "Holiday Inn" last night. Bing Crosby was one of the greatest crooners of his time.

Even though Mariah Carey has had the most success on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (with last week's chart released & this is TWENTY EIGHT years after she originally released it, was #1 for the 10th non-consecutive week, for that distinction).
This song, still holds the record for being not only the best selling Christmas song EVER, it holds the record for the best selling song EVER, with more than 100 MILLION copies sold in it's history.
The 1941 movie, "Holiday Inn," starred Bing Crosby & Fred Astaire & Virginia Dale as a popular act & Crosby's character is in love with Dale's character, but Astaire "steals her" over the holiday, so Crosby leaves the act and decides to open up a Inn in Connecticut BUT it was only going to be in operation for all the holidays. Louise Beavers works at a local flower shop but mistakes what the Inn was about and she applies for a job, which she gets.
This scene used in the video is from one of the first scenes where his character is teaching her character the lyrics. Without giving too much away, you need to watch "Holiday Inn" to get the full effect of this song (which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for songwriter Irving Berlin).

HIS VERSION WAS THE FIRST EVER OF WHITE CHRISTMAS . AND IT WAS SO GOOD IT WAS THE MOST COVERED SONG EVER UNTIL 1965 WHEN YESTERDAY BY THE BEATLES TOPPED IT, BUT EVEN NOW ITS STILL NUMBER 2 MOST COVERED ALL TIME.

That cvlip was from Holiday Inn starring Bing along with Marjorie Reynolds in 1941. He also sang that song in Blue Skies from 1946 and then again in White Christmas in 1954. All films definitely worth watching if you haven't seen them. You should!!

Later, Bing stared in the movie White Christmas with Danny Kay, Rosemary Cooney (aunt to George and Vera Ellen. If you have never seen them, both movies are must watch holiday events.

It's beautiful, of course, and I always enjoy Bing's voice, but the BEST version of 'White Christmas' was by the Drifters. Nice mid-tempo, classic doo-wop treatment.
