100k is on its way, editing it as we speak;) Thank you for watching and happy new year;) Just a thought if you were to buy a sailboat for 50k what would you choose?
I think the contessa’s real claim to fame, involved a particular stormy, Fastnet race some time ago, from which several other bigger and presumably better equipped boats, either retired from the race or, in some cases, actually sunk. The contessa finished relatively unscathed. I stand 185 cm tall and needed to duck inside the one I visited. I think it needed more hand-holds inside, if I remember correctly, at least if rough passages are contemplated
Hey, My name is Unity, we met at the Musto shop in Gunwharf at Christmas. I was very excited to hear about your business and your life in La Rochelle. I mentioned my Year Abroad, and how I am trying to find a sailing-related 'stage' placement in France for September 23 onwards. I'd love the chance to talk to you, hear more about what you do, and maybe to sail sometime in the future. I sent you an email a ocuple of weeks ago but maybe this is a better way to contact you!
I remember, happy new year; I am glad you reached out as we have been wondering if you had emailed or not, I will have to look in the spam to see if it's there by mistake;) You can reach me through our Facebook page where I can PM you my mobile number and email address: facebook.com/SVTonic
Hi Unity, do you still have the card I gave you? if so then change the .com to .fr it would seem to be a printing mistake on the email address sorry. Don't forget( .fr ) we are starting to book up trips and delivery for this summer so don't miss out;)
A worthy Number one, I was after a Contessa 32 for literally years. Only knocked into second place by a Rival, before they became Rival Bowman. Sadly neither are any use to me as a zsailboat any longer. Maybe Next Reincarnation. 😀 Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. 👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
We nearly brought a Contessa this year, but we were outbid on the boat;( unable to stretch the budget shame, but I believe they make a great first and fun sailboat for anyone wanting to get out there sailing;)
The first 38 came in 2 versions. The std 38 and the Brett Stark 38s5. The 38s5 has different windows and a nicer interior fit out with curved wood. I believe a different rig but nit sure. The S version runs from 32s5 to 42s5 . They are different beasts fron the std 32, 35, 38,s ect.
Hi there, you are right but as all models are under the 50k price range depending on the condition we didn't think it was a problem;) We are just giving an overview of what you can get and in our opinion are good value well-built sailboats to get people like us on a budget out there sailing. If you had a budget of 50k out of interest what would be your choice? we are always looking to discover other makes of boats to look at and sail. Thank you for watching and happy new year.
This boat was sold some time ago, I don't know the agreed price but it was listed for 48.000 at the time, an absolute bargain ;). Thank you for watching and happy new year.
I've got a centurion 32 and for my money it's a better boat than the contessa. Better build quality and finish and more freeboard so a lot drier. Other than that it's exactly the same as the contessa.
I would never sail the Beneteau across an ocean. The spade rudders and bolted on bulb keel are too vulnerable. The Contessa's headroom is about 5'10" max, so it's a great boat for someone vertically challenged. The HR isn't as bad but at 6' ots still insufficient. There are definitely better alternatives IMHO. A Tayana 37 is one.
Contessa 32 . All day and everyday.. Thats one i will buy in the next year or so and as a upcoming pensioner.. i'll do my best..then go down with the😊 ship.. 💥👏👍🏼🙏⚖️🫡🦧😑❤️❤️❤️😊
Excellent review.
Photos match narrative with lots of additional and relevant/insightful info.
Glad you liked it.
Would love if you made the same video but with a 100K budget

@@n1mutant, I will work on that for the 100K video; thanks for the idea. Thank you for watching;)

You are mixing up foto's of First 38 and First 38s5. They are not the same. Also HR312 MK1 and MKII are quite different (headroom).
