On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Fun Fact:
My Dad was in the Navy in the early 60's. Before the A-4's went on the catapult they would light a cigarette and walk around to make sure the seeker in the sidewinders were live. The seeker could track a cigarette anywhere on the flight deck. 🤯🚀 🚬

@@jozomrkva thank you I personally think it'd be an even closer matchup, considering GS is flying the SU-47 and still gets beaten a few times against the F-22 and we've seen an obvious close matchup with the YF-23 VS F-22 vid! The Raptor is superior to both the SU-47 and YF-23 so it only makes sense! Plus people are forgetting I'm asking for guns only fight which obviously changes the dynamic of the entire fight👍

The problem is not him having "Boomerang-9X-doing-torpedo-seeker-head-like" stuff. Problem is him being the only one who got it while yours are not even searching.
9x = 100g overload. Anything ruzzian = if it fires maybe 50g but doing a little research shows their missiles don't know where they are lol

Thats what im saying. Too many mistakes were made. If flown better the raptor would've been the victor for this battle.
So many chances for gun kills but the switch is set on missiles. Tight flying. Camera outside of the whole fight would be awesome.
Turn radius for the Berkut was more advantageous than for the Raptor. It held the F-22's six pretty much to whole video. First time seeing that in the history for GS' channel. But I for this fight specifically it would be the pilots skill overall.
nah su47 rinced the f22. its only saving grace were those aim9xs.. GS missed gun kills nearly every single fight.

I'd like to see the awesome Northrop F20 that was made during the same time period as the YF23. It was an extremely modified F5 with one big F18 engine. Yet much lighter than the F18 with a much smaller cross section also, making it harder to hit with the guns. On the ground it was also start up to wheels up in less than two minutes.
I never saw a plane so confident against an f22 in a merge like the berkut, amazing!

Dogfights are basically irrelevant today
Wouldn't have been any change on NATO side, especially since the 22 is still getting upgraded and the US is closing in on its 6th gen aircraft. Super maneuverability is only useful in dogfights. BVR is king now a days. Maneuverability will get you nowhere when a ghost of an aircraft launches a missile 35 miles out with no rwr signature or missile launch warning until pitbull. Plus due to the design of the su-47 it struggles to go above mach 1 which is crucial for BVR fights because then your missile doesn't have to break the sound barrier, thus giving your missile a ton of extra energy. The Su-47 would get shot down by vietnam era aircraft before it got the chance to merge with anything.
That are some nice fights. Looks like the F-22 got another plane that can take it down.
The dogfights of the 60’s and 70’s were the ones where a pilot was truly tested…substandard missiles and jet aircraft tech was hardly 20 years old..just hard af pilots, gutting it out, turning and burning!..pretty crazy stuff!..they didn’t have 9x’s that would do cartwheels while turning on a dime and giving you the change!..I would have loved to have seen the look on one of these veterans faces as they jumped into the cockpit of one of these 4/5th Gen fighters…anyway that was an impressive video!..
i remember when i was like 8 years old i first learned about the Su-47 because i bought a toy of it at walmart. the first search result was an article stating that it was a raptor killer.

The Sukhoi 47 is absolutely amazing in the first turn. Loved the dogfight. It was so tight between these two. The 9x looping around to hit you was funny as well. All in all quite an interesting video. Well done GS. Can you put the Su 47 up against the Sukhoi 57 Felon?
Feels like you opted out of a lot of gun opportunities.
I think it might be interesting to do a comparison video demonstrating missile effectiveness on a non maneuvering target from same ranges, but different altitudes to illustrate why higher altitude is important for a missile's probability of kill and then showcase this in tactview.

Idea of opposite swept wings on paper seems best thing since sliced bread. Works at insane angles of attack, less drag/more lift .. but this imperfect world still kills it, as even composite materials cannot provide sufficient torsional rigidity for such wings. Otherwise such wings would be way more common on warbirds

It'd be interesting to see a full performance comparison between SU-47 vs F-22 (BVR & gunfight) & SU-57 vs F-22 (BVR & gunfight).
Kind of assume F-22 wipes the floor with both in bvr (though it'd still be fun to watch) but, which does better in the gunfight could be interesting to evaluate.
Can't wait for another episode of "The missile roasts" featuring this fight.
