On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

One format that would be interesting to see: 3 rounds, then switch aircraft and do 3 more rounds, as it could demonstrate how much of the kills are pilot skill vs. aircraft capability.
outside of lucky shots like the one loss here, GS would win them all. Last few opponents, bless their hearts, haven't been up to GS' level. Credit for being willing to try though.
IIRC, when the navy was still using the Tomcat, the Top Gun trainers would fly F-16s against them to maximally challenge the students.

According to "Snort," at least, the B model was the 'slightly' better dogfighter due to it being that little bit lighter.

Top Gun vs. Iron Eagle! I love it.
I feel like I say it in every video in which it is relevant, but I love how they have modeled the shuddering and shaking of the Tomcat when you are really pushing it to the limit.
Still the king, the F14!
F-14 plus the Top Gun programme gave the USN something special. No one wants conflict, but it's a real shame we never got to see what it could really do like we have with the 15/16/18. If airframe hours weren't a factor and foreign sales were better the Tomcat would still be viable and competitive today.
Apparently it gave a glimpse of that potential in the hands of the Iranian Air Force
I think that it’s quite possible certain foreign sales is why the US decided to retire it.
F14 fans dont want to hear it but there are many reasons the F14 would not be viable today

The tomcat has such a tight turning circle that it can deny the Overlap 2-circle to anything but a Hornet. Sustained Turn Rate fighting in a Tomcat is to ignore it's greatest asset.
The F16 actually has a tighter turning circle than the tomcat
@@ThorbenGobel-xp1xd Not even close. Go get some Tacview and do some high AoA energy bleeding pulls in both jets. F-16 tops out around 1,400ft radius while the F-14 can do under 1,000ft at low speed with the big flaps.

It's still the pilot. Been watchin' F14 pilots interviews and their stories about how much they love this aircraft.
The F111 was an early test bed with the wings and how the F14 evolved over time as a gunfighter.
The more I learn, the more I enjoy the Tomcat.
I'd like to see a video on the F-8x series of aircraft, from the F-80 (P-80) Shooting star, F-82 Twin Mustang, F-84 Thunderjet, F-86 Sabre, and the XF-88 Voodoo if there is a model. I didn't include odd numbers because I forget how many there were off the top of my head
