Mac vs. Windows - I waited for 10 years, because I was happy with windows. But things changed when my problems with windows got worse (bad trackpads, randomly turning on & overheating in the backpack, bad HEVC mp4 performance and more). Make sure to watch until the end, to really understand WHY a Mac works better for me.

4:41 Path name solution: Open save-as as normal, press then Command+Shift+G, enter the path and press enter, the location is now changed as you can see in the 'original' save as dialog to the given path and then save your file and it should be in the location you wanted to save. Just double checked it. Thy for the video

- Copy path names: CMD + OPT + C
- Pasting path names: CMD + SHIFT + G

Yes dude! That double monitor set up is next level ... need! I always shoot in h.265 and the M1 chip is too good. Mac is just king for our line of work I think, everything is so integrated.

Was für ein großartiges Video. Tolle Geschichte. Nun sind meine Videos sicher nicht annähernd so professionell wie deine. Mein MacBookPro mit M2Pro würde ich trotzdem aus all den von dir genannten Gründen nicht wieder her geben wollen. 4K Videoschnitt mit massig Filter drüber in DaVinci Resolve, ungerändert...... und da geht nicht mal der Lüfter an. Love It.

Ich hatte vorher ebenfalls den DELL XPS welcher Du in deinen Videos verwendetest.
Tolles Display, tolle Tastatur, aber sehr schwer und kurze Akkulaufzeit und dauernd ist der Lüfter an. Das Trackpad des Dell sieht ebenfalls besser aus, als es wirklich ist. Ich konnte es leider nicht wirklich verwenden und hatte stets eine Maus dabei.
Wenn ich viel unterwegs bin, ist mit das DELL zu gross und zu schwer. Daher habe mit zur "Ergänzung" ein MacBook Air M2 16GB 1TB gekauft. Ich habe die gleiche Erfahrung wie du gemacht: Inzwischen arbeite ich ausschliesslich mit dem MacBook, da es viel mehr Performance und eine viel längere Akkulaufzeit bietet. Aufgrund der Grösse und Gewichts habe ich es praktisch immer dabei. Ich habe dafür im Vergleich zum Dell nur ca. 2/3 des Kaufbetrags investiert. Und was ich nie erwartet hätte: Ich brauche weder unterwegs noch zuhause eine Maus, weil das Trackpad vom MacBook so unglaublich gut und intuitiv ist.
Apple Mac ist inzwischen mit den M-Prozessoren so performant geworden, dass du für den aufgerufenen Preis viel mehr bekommst, als es mit Windows-Notebooks möglich wäre. Ich war bis vor einem halben Jahr ausschliesslich mit Windows unterwegs. Meinen Einstieg habe ich noch mit Windows 3.11 gemacht. 🙂
Bei Apple kriegen wir eine Hardware, welche perfekt auf das Betriebssystem abgestimmt ist, weil Apple die komplette Mainboardarchitektur neu überarbeitet hat.
Danke für die Tipps mit den Pfaden den "Speichern unter..."-Dialogen. Das hat mich bis heute selbst zur Weissglut gebracht.
Weitere Tipps für Apps, welche den Mac für Windows-Leute etwas "kompatibler" machen:
- Trackpad auf Windows-Richtung umkehren (Rauf/Runter): Scrollreverser
- Fenster in fixen Bereichen des Desktop platzieren: Rectangle
- Applikationen mit Option/Tab wechseln: AltTab
- Akku im täglichen Gebrauch schonen und immer nur auf 80% aufladen: AlDente
- MacBook auf allen Dockinstations anzeigen lassen: DisplayLinkManager
- Einfachere Screenshots erstellen: Greenshot

I work as a Ui/Ux Designer and Editor but also do 3D animation and for 13 years everyone was telling me to get a Macbook, now for 2 months im using the Macbook pro M3 Max 14'' with 36G of ram and its the BEST thing ever. I manage to work 5-6 hours on battery without no problem. Its just perfect. PS: Thank you for the amazing content and keep it up

I originally switched to Mac but continued to run windows on my Mac. Then at some point made the jump to Mac OS - once apps really started being made for it then never looked back.

But aren't you missing how the fan of the Dell Docikng Station adds up to the fan of your XPS? Won't you miss the need for WinSCP (buahahaha)? I had almost the same desk setup as you before I switched to a Mac Mini 2 years ago. Man, was that relaxing! The main disadvantage for me is, that you get much more time for coffee breaks with all the Windows updates and ADDITIONAL Dell Updates! On the Mac EVERYTHING is updated with one single update, which are also not as frequent as the Windows ones, so much less time for coffee :-(

Bin auch schon ewig am Mac. Übrigens kannst du via Systemeinstellungen - Tastatur auch eigene Tastaturkürzel für dich definieren, aber ich denke, dass ist keine neue Info - falls doch - auf gehts ;-)
Guter Punkt! Leider wird bei mir das Drücken von "Enter" nicht als eigener Shortcut erkannt... Nur alles mit CMD, OPT, etc
When it comes to using a Windows 11 laptop with a dedicated GPU (I assume that Dell laptop had that?), there is one thing that many people are forgetting to do when it comes to more video editing work / video editing laptops, and that's to not use the 'Game Ready' driver and install the 'Studio' driver from NVIDIA instead.
Many people are reporting that the workflow performance in video editing programs in Windows will get seriously better with the 'Studio' driver.
But I'll guess you have already tried that?
If no, I recommend you to watch the video called 'Gigabyte Aero 15 vs Apple M1 vs Mac Pro' done by 'Armando Ferreira'.
But yeah, when it comes to battery life, I do believe the MacBooks here have an upper hand.

Yes!! I had to get used to it as well hahah. But I am comfortable with the shortcuts CMD + W (Closing) and CMD + Q (Quitting) by now 🙏🏼

Wait until you discover Final Cut Pro :D It's not just 3-5 faster than Premiere, but it's way more modern and simpler to use, it's a joy compared to clunky and complicated Premiere which still lives in 1999.

H.265 sollten die aktuellen Intel Chips aber durchaus abspielen können ohne Probleme durch deren iGPU Decoder
Aber das mit der Akkulaufzeit ist natürlich echt nice, mal schauen wann wir da mit Windows rankommen ^^
Nachteil beim Mac seh ich halt dass es viele Programme nicht gibt und sowas wie Gaming auch nicht wirklich möglich ist, wenn man also mal raus aus der Adobe Suite geht steht man schnell vor ner Wand
Ja absolut, Intel nennt das glaub ich "Quicksync". Aber ich finde vom M2 chip ist das in der Praxis trotzdem noch echt weit entfernt.
Do get the path/folder in a different app you can drag the folder from finder...

I did the same, after 20 years with windows. Mac is better, but still I will not let away my windows machine.
For me has been even easier since Mac is Linux based and since a I am an command line Ubuntu user as well...

Nein 😁 z.b. Gopro 11 5.3K 10bit 8:7 Aufnahmen auf Windows PC (12700K, GTX 4080, 32giga Ram, schnelle M2 SSD) gegen M1 Macbook Pro, auf dem Macbook in Davinci Resolve 18 alles flüssig, auf Windows PC wirds zum Akt. Selbst von SD Karte ist das schneiden auf Macbook flüssiger 🤣
@@ecmdesign sehr komisch weil das über die iGPU des i7 abgespielt werden sollte, bei meinem 14700k keinerlei problem :)
nutze aber auch Premiere vll liegts daran
