Great video. Replacing one this weekend. Only thing I will do differently. Start the car before I tighten and break the security bolt, just in case I have to remove everything if it won't start. Cheers
Thanks for a great video. My friend had a 2009 Focus with a bad ignition housing. I was able to get the ignition housing/switch with a new security bolt for $46.00 on Amazon and had it installed in 45 minutes. You saved me a lot of money. I really appreciate the time you put into these videos. Thank you
I found out the hard way that you need to put those steering column bezels back on before you test drive it. The steering wheel position sensor requires a dark environment because it uses infrared sensors to operate. With all the daylight, the sensor won't work properly and your ABS and traction control will start to freak out.
Thanks for the very good video! I replaced old housing with the Dorman 989-019 Ignition Lock Cylinder Housing Compatible with Ford Focus 2010. Funny thing, had a hell of a time getting the housing to meet up flush around the column. Also had a hell of time getting old key cylinder into new housing. I even checked another auto parts Whse. To make sure had correct part, and I did. Anyway, thanks again!
@@gqautodiagnostics I didnt disconnect it. It took me forever to get the key cylinder back in. After I figured out it wasnt bad to turn the d shaped cylinder from the other side, I felt like an idiot. I just figured it shouldn’t have to be turned.
How did you figure out if it was the ignition or a bad starter, my wife's focus is having this same no start issue, after about 8 times of flicking the key over it will start, she says it's the starter I say it's the hosuing and I don't want to waste any money so how can I be sure?
fantastic i am doing this today sunday 2/25/24 on 2009 focus
thank you very much

Don’t know. Why it was hard to get flush, can’t say. My experience didn’t match the ease of the video. Good luck!@@mytwocents4892

Bridge the relay with a wire. If it starts immediately its the housing. If it doesn't its starter/solenoid
