Sambal sotong is usually made from dried squid. They make it soft again with kapur.
Beef lungs are usually boiled first and fried according to different dryness. Nasi padang usually is on the dryer side.
Btw Malaysian food is really by word of mouth. They don't use the internet to promote but their shops will still have long lines. So make friends accordingly. Because of halal, Malay people will have a whole different world of food runs. Some superbike groups just run around Malaysia on weekend rides to a food spot.
Different states has different food. Because each have different relationships to the outside world in the 1800s. Example Mee. States under Siam pre WW2 has rice Mee. States under English has wheat Mee.
Also local economies make the state have different ingredients they do well.
Like terengganu and Sabah, there are alot of fishermen. So their cuisine for sea fish is on a different quality compared to towns like penang or kl which had to import their fish. I've seen fish on a road side shop in terengganu where the fish are so fresh, the scales still have the rainbow colours on it as like when the fish was still alive. You've come right time as the eastern peninsular monsun just ended. You can travel from the south to the north by beach route to sample their cuisines and holiday resorts, as they close during monsun season.
Chinese food also differentiate from each state because of the majority of them come from different places from china. Some from fujian, some from hailam, some teochew. Malaysian Chinese are also diverse.
Indian food also has the same nuance. Some places are more southern Indian, some are more northern Indian, while the real mamaks are more a Malaysianised because they have been here more than 200 years like in kelantan. The Chinese there have integrated budu into their cuisine. So kelantanese Chinese food isn't the same with Chinese food from other places.

Do you at any point eat banana leaves? I know you guys eat way more greens and seemingly are weeds in Usa. Im learning now about green things we omit yet other countries eat. As long as its not bitter coz i cant stand bitter. I know it helps many ways but im a supertaster-highly sensitive to all flavors. If i eat bitter i cant taste anything for 3 days as it stays on my tongue and ruins all flavors. And chilis, they annihilate my tongue too. I can handle Thai curries-strange-but the heat dissipates on my tongue. Love almost all ASIAN foods, Indonesia, Malaysia etc. thank you for answering! Blessings of LOVE 🙏🏻❤️

The concrete stairs to the Batu Caves were built in 1940, unpainted and in 2 columns only. They replaced the wooden ones that were built in 1920. Then there were the 3 columns of stairs that were painted red and white. In 2018, these became the 4-column multicolor stairs that we see today. Now that they are repainting, I wonder if they will paint back the same colors?

While *Village Park Nasi Lemak* in PJ is 1 or 2 levels better than Nasi Lemak Wanjo for its sambal & fried chicken.
I wouldn't call this is the best nasi lemak, but *Nasi Lemak Ujang* (Greenwood, Gombak) is ahead of aforementioned establishment only for its *diverse & good side dishes* alone.

I think many here suggested Nasi Lemak Wanjo in Kampung Baru because its one of `good standard' Nasi lemak. Sometimes the `newcomer' just randomly jump to the first/nearest nasi lemak's vendor they see thus having not the right taste of nasi lemak specially the sambal. For other nasi lemak place, if its suggested by the local, usually its no doubt that it will always a good one! Enjoy guys!

Flora and Note, I'm glad that one of your subcribers did recommend Nasi Lemak Ujang to you. This is my favourite Nasi Lemak and personally as a local, I found it much more tastier than Nasi Lemak Wanjo.I haven't seen any youtube channel by a tourist that went to this place and you are the first one.
You are lucky to come to the food court and around it when its empty as the place usually are full of people and the traffic there could be 'a test to your patience". Lol.
The 'inner parts" of the cow that you were eating is actually lung or we called it as Paru in Malay while you can eat with more than 3 fingers when eating with hands. Most of us eat with all five fingers.
Meanwhile on the stairs of Batu Caves, I read it that the previous painting of the stairs with multi colours were done illegally without getting permission from the National Heritage Department. Since the temple is listed as National Heritage site, any renovation must go through this department so I guess thats why they are painting it back to white. But I might be wrong.
    Hope this helps.

The Paru that you ate is actually the Beef Lung meat.
