- Meet Booger. I've been waiting on this day for a long time. It may be the first CT125 sold in the US and the first 33 miles I put in the little Trail. I haven't seen anyone else with one since they were reintroduced to the US. The green is a nice change of pace.

I agree but the engine had zero miles on it when I started this video. I didn't want to rev too high. I also wanted to see what the little baby torques could do.
I have one of these and you are limited on what you can do. And he is heavy for this limited bike.

I did the yoshimura exhause and pcx 150 injector on mine. Can do 50mph in hill sections and 58 on flats. Hit 65 drafting cars
That may be a road I go down once it is broken in

I have a 1982 Honda Trail CT 110 (barely 3,500 original miles)- Love the low gear transmission option that is not available on the new one (bummer) which is really nice for trail riding when climbing steep hills. Be prepared to have a lot of people stop you to talk to you about it. These bikes (regardless of the year) are very popular and EVERYONE wants to check it out. I am sure you have experienced this by now. Thanks for the video(excellent audio by the way). Have fun and hope to see you out on the California trails.
Surprisingly (or maybe not), more people want to talk to me with my Ural. I have quite an odd collection of bikes.
I'd like to ride with someone on an older model with the low gear to see if there is really much of a difference. I may go down to a 13T sprocket but I'm ok for now.

As someone looking to get one of these this was a great ride review except for the hills. I don't think you will have enough brake cable for risers by the looks of it. Look forward to more vids
If I was trying to bring the bars further back, you would be right. However, I wanted them moved away from me and there was plenty of cable available for that
I wish honda would make it a regular clutch bike. Plus it would be cool if all the minis had 125s and 250s. The bottom tier rebel engine with the 6 speef would be dope on this bike. And the grom. Imagone a grom thats a 250
Lol, I’ve never thought about breaking in a bike properly that you have to ride at wide-open throttle everywhere😂

Its a keeper. That''s part of why I don't want to add a big bore kit. Longevity is the name of the game.

Thanks for sharing. I own a Honda Ruckus and would have to trade it for the Honda Trail 125 if I pursued it. At this point, I'm hard pressed to give up my Ruckus, but the Trail 125 is more practical for around town travels lol. My only issue with my Ruckus and why I am considering a Trail 125 is the Ruckus tops out around 42MPH and my local roads go up to 60MPH... I chance myself a lot going through those 55MPH areas on my Ruckus lol.
I have had my Trail for just over a year now. I have no regrets. It is not particularly practical for touring, though, as I have committed to do.
I would like to have a Ruckus but my area is too hilly for it to pull my large-self around. Maybe if I weighed half as much.
I had a Ruckus prior to my CT 125. I sold it privately, and used that as a down payment. I used my Ruckus to run errands and quick grocery shopping. Once I get the foldable crate, the CT will fill that niche quite nicely!
Do I miss the Ruckus? Sure. But the CT is way better in all aspects to the Ruck.
@@baldrider That's fair lol. I'm still considering the CT125 for running around and doing errands. However, I prefer the CVT and being able to leave the house with sandals on... not so with the shifter on the CT125. Also, maintenance and overall costs to running the Ruckus is super convenient and low. IDK, perhaps the ADV160 could be in my near future? Still mulling it over. The Ruckus is a classic and I enjoy running into other Ruckus riders... especially relating to the pain and agony of just being too slow at times and trying to stay out of people's way ha ha.
This bike should be able to break 50 in top gear based on the weight of the rider
I weigh 170. Used to be 325.

That Crestline/LAke Gregory area is beautiful. Never knew what it looked like inland down in SoCal.
It is a nice place to get away from all of the concrete, traffic and chaos that surrounds us.
Not a bad idea (13T), but as you know you will sacrifice a little on the top end. I also have a 1965 Honda Dream (CA77) 305. I have never ridden the 125 CT Trail model, so it would be nice to connect with someone and ride each others bikes to see the difference. I just returned from a camping trip (Big Bear Mountains) and rod my trail on the many fire roads -lots of fun. See you out there one day.
That's just up the road from me. We'll have too coordinate sometime.

It'd be nice if Honda actually shipped these to dealers for people to buy, lol. Still have yet to see any at dealers that aren't something like 500 miles away from me.
I have never seen another one in person until after I bought mine. It seems like the Midwest and Southeast have the most rumored to have them sitting in showrooms. Definitely not in my neck of the woods, though.
I live in NY and all the dealers around me have them in stock now...guess it all depends on where you live.
Im 260lbs, at Arkansas elevation i can do 52mph. regardless of whether im carrying a pack or not 😆
I lived in Arkansas a few lifetimes ago. Around here, I am most comfortable riding around at about 38mph in 3rd gear.

Break in on new bikes is rider based how you plan on riding it throughout its life is how you ride it during break in if it breaks apart it's not the bike for you 😂😂

The Costco rack was $8. It was just a stopgap until I figure out what I will use more permanently. If I go Pelican, I may go the Harbor Freight Apache route
You think a 6'5" guy could fit on it? Also I'd love to see a top speed test with the new engine. Also I want to know how much you paid.
Fitting at 6'5" depends on whether your height is more in the legs or the torso. I have a 35" inseam and have to constantly remind myself to sit more forward so I don't sit on the grab bar of the rack. There are longer seats available but they reduce rack usability. I'll need to do a bit more break-in before attempting a top speed run. I'll also need to find flat ground.

I think this is the best looking underbone on the market right now, but for me its also the most disappointing in performance, which is unfortunate because i’m a massive Honda fanboy.
When i was recently shopping for a new bike i wanted to so bad to love this bike but just couldn’t. I ended up with a Yamaha Exciter 155. It has more umph, but less style.
The CT still amazing. its a Honda after all.
This is only my second Honda. The first was the used Goldwing I bought last year. I was not disappointed in the performance because I didn't expect much. I think it is just right for what I was looking for. I could stand to lose a few more pounds to make hills a little easier. I also want a PCX but, to be fair, I want a a lot of bikes.
@@baldrider to be fair i dont think anyone other than Honda has an underbone on the market in the US. Here in Thailand we have a bunch including the Yamaha Exciter and Suzuki Raider.
The PCX is a cool bike. its very popular here, as is the ADV now.
i could also stand to lose a few lbs as a small bike rider. but don’t tell anyone. hahahaha.
Had a '77 trail 90 back in the 90s. Kind of wanted to get one of these, but starting to think a Ural might be more fun. Maybe not as easy to get onto DNR land here in WA, but I could pack a lot more and maybe more fun?
A Ural is a different kind of fun. You could get both. But then you'd have to have a bike that can also do 80 on the interstate. That's the path I went down.
@@baldrider yeah, I'm not brave enough for interstates. I haven't riden in over 20 years, so the trail 125 is about right for me. Side roads and trails at best, but no freeways if I can help it.. Just not sure if I'm willing to pay Ural prices. They're too high, but I'd rather pay too high an msrp than an additional msrp prices in dealer mark ups as I see in many trail 125 listings. Then again, sidecar/2WD is something I have zero experience with.
@@AlexanderOster as long as you don't think of it like a motorcycle and more like a tipsy ATV, you'll do much better. Prices for Urals are high but people that have them tend to not let them go so the used market is basically non-existent. There are a few of us that own both. We'll see if the Ural gets more seat time once the newness of the Trail wears off.

I don't see why not. You could always go to a 13T front sprocket for some more torque
i love my trail 125 but thinking of trading it in in the next couple days. they missed out on the trans. its to weak to go off roading to much. its to slow to hit any busy roads around here. you can gear it down to get alittle more power but you lose even more speed and you can gear it up to get a little more speed but the poor engine just dont have the power to pull a higher gear.
and i gave $5001 out the door for mine and if you want to add stuff to yours look up QuasiMotard videos he has everything you need
Its a freaking 125 four stroke...what were you expecting??? There are SOOO many negative comments about these little Hondas being slow and gutless yet SOOO many people still had to go out and buy them most likely for generation status reasons than any other reason. Now there are many used ones for sale on various selling sites with very low (300-500) miles because people were too anxious to buy for their place in their neighborhood status circle and didn't research them before spending the money. And now all the used ones for sale the sellers are asking for over MSRP to recover all the cash they spent to buy the bike and anyone with half a brain knows you will have to eat the dealer fees and sales tax if you have any hope of selling their bike...DUH. Now the same thing is happening with that new Honda China bike clone XR-150. dealers can't keep them in stock and the "its SOOO slow and gutless" comments are starting. Plus those bikes are quite tall and heavy and cloned after the Chinese Hawk dual sport motorcycles.
@@bultacowally if they had just put the low range in this one like they have all the rest it would be perfect. i was told the 2023 has a little more power i dont know this is the first one i have seen. but his speed is about the same as mine. but hes taller and about 30 pounds heavier than me. so that might be the same and not faster. dont get me wrong i LOVE wilbur my little bike. and in just a little over a year i have almost 6000 miles on it.

Keep in mind I started this video with zero miles on the engine. I hear it loosens up a bit. We also don't have much in the way of flat and straight here. In another video, I managed 53 downhill and that's all Booger would do

Your bike has a hook wrench in the tool kit to adjust your preload, doesn't it?
The USA kit is pretty non-existent. Just a screwdriver. I adjusted preload with the wrench provided with my Ural
ADV 150 is nice and similar if this one is sold out
I thought about it but the ADV has a CVT and a lot of plastics to be messed up when I drop it in the dirt

@@baldrider hmmm. Wonder if it was the one i sold 🤔 yeah I know you guys got pummeled, and goodwins had their roof collapse from snowpack. That’s one reason why I left, if there’s bad weather or a fire, you can be trapped up the hill or at the bottom and not be able to return home. I do miss it though.

Do you need a license?
Yes. I think some states have no license requirements for 49cc but I'm pretty sure every state requires a license for 125cc. Unless, of course, you are in California and put a sidecar on it which I don't recommend.

i bought the 2023 honda grom with ABS in April, got about 121 miles on it, i am regretting not getting this trail. i may gotta sell it as i feel like a giant on the grom and thinkn would like the trail 100% better
I think you'll feel like a giant on any of the MiniMOTOs. The Grom has some advantages like a 5th gear. The Trail is a pickup truck and the Grom is a sporty car.
@@baldrider I like the idea of the back rack to put stuff, plus im chill, I kike the kick start and its versatile...
I had to move the kicker back three splines to keep my heel from contacting it. It still functions but you have to be more deliberate with your kicking. It is a pretty common adjustment. The other upside to a GROM, though, is that you can actually walk into a dealership and buy one.

You complain about the speed or lack thereof non stop. Surely you knew the top speed before you bought it. And you are shifting quite poorly.
New 125 cc cub and other bikes like it are weak. That is their biggest flaw. After all those years, Honda could not give us cub with 14-15 HP. I do not need motorcycle licence to ride one in my country just car driving licence. Autamatic scooters are nowhere near the fun of cub-like semi-auto bikes, so I will always pick cub or dax over scooter. It is just shame Honda still makes them underpowered.
I don't know if it is a flaw. The Grom sells by the truckload. A few more ponies would be nice but it is part of the charm. I wish I could get my hands on a Dax
@@baldrider I felt that charm first year, but all hills in my area eventually made me thinking it really need more power for non-asian people, who will slow it down with their weight. I ride cub like bike, it is really wonderful in sense of slow travelling, so will be the dax, but really when there is stronger wind or some hill you will suffer. That is why I think Honda failed in this century in terms of power of these bikes.
