I LOVE this type of learning!! A pro struggling through programming, in this case, because learning together just feels amazing. Being taught is great too, but learning together really makes the lesson stick. It’s like interactive learning as you ask yourself “what step do we do next” or “ do I select as built, or module programming”. Great editing too! Thank you both very much. I’m a SD premium member and have your ebook, and will definitely look at your tools link more often.
Thank you so much Ricardo!!
Awesome videos, great to see you helping people with AESwave. 👍
Caleb you're doing a awesome job .

The final step should be a recheck for parasitic drain? That was the start of this problem and should be last thing verified. If you assume the drain is fixed....ASS-U-ME will rear it's ugly head. Caleb put your seat belt on and thanks for the great editing.
we did! and I have it on film and just now realized we didn't include it!!! damn smh
Had a 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.0 L. in the shop that kicked my ass for 3 days. Parasitic draw of over 2.5 amps. Modules would not go to sleep. Radio control faceplate always 10-15 degrees warmer than the rest of the dash. Spent hours trying to isolate Sync module, FCIM module, SCCM module, Gateway module etc. to make the radio and other 30 modules to go to sleep, but never was able to get milliamp numbers down to an acceptable level. The BIG mistake I made was ignoring an inoperative power liftgate that I was unable to communicate with our Solus Ultra scanner. This car does not have a power liftgate. Only the cinch motor, but still uses the same troublesome PLGM module. After unplugging the module to run circuit tests.....BINGO....In 15 or 20 minutes, all other modules went to sleep and parasitic draw dropped to 32 milliamps. A new PLGM and trunk latch assy. was the fix. Many of the 31 modules on this Lincoln do not use a key on signal to power up. Car uses Can networks to accomplish on/off
Thank you SD, & special Thanks to Caleb for his efforts, you guy's are great, Stay Blessed & Stay Safe❤
Both of you are doing Awesome work together to help us👍
Hey Paul
Hope you and your family are staying healthy. Thanks for the vid man. Wanted to throw this out to the viewers as well. As Built Data Manual, your directed to go to the PTS server to obtain the data. Well how the heck do I do that?? Go to motorcraftservice.com, Free Resources, Quick Guides, Module Build Data(As Built). Enter the VIN for the vehicle and it will populate a hexi decimal list of all as built data for the modules in the vehicle. Find the specific module by name or number designation from the list enter the as built data line by line manually with FJDS or IDS and then check the software level like Matt instructed if you want. As stated as built data input does NOT check software calibration levels. This feature is available for several modules on the Autel, Launch, and Forscan as well, just won’t be able to check software cals. Just wanted to throw that out in case you or anyone every need to enter as built manually or choose to do it that way. Thanks Again for the VID and stay well man.

If the autel would had worked it would been sweet but it sounds too good to be true . Stay safe Danner and family .
I had to reprogram a Ford Fusion a few weeks ago that had a TSB to program the PCM as sometimes it wouldn’t go to sleep and was causing a draw.
I’ve done a bunch using J2534 and an IDS. Using the IDS is actually worse when it’s been a while. They update the software every few days, so if you go a while it takes me 45 minutes to update everything in the lap top before update of the vehicle can start. Much easier if you do it daily., or at least weekly.
Keep up the great videos, always learn something, even after 37 years in the biz.
Thank you paul
I love the ASE-Wave grant. Don't feel bad Danner I have a degree in computer science. I still hate programming modules!
Caleb, you are the man!
great editing and added comedy to keep things light.....
Nice job Caleb you really are doing a great job... thank you bud
Hello sir it was awesome because you fainly figure out what problem is .and I personally learn from you and thank you for your book it is great
I'm a Chrysler dealer tech, and do a lot of programming/flash updating of modules. The reason why the trunk operations didn't work at first is that the module is learning all the parameters. As it went through the operations, it started doing what it is supposed to do, as you saw. Always clear all dtcs after flashing/programming, as some dtcs being present causes certain systems to not work properly/shutdown. Also, clearing dtcs also clears learned parameters. The engine controller (pcm) is a good example, it will continue with parameters that it learned during the time a fault was present and it compensated for, which can make it appear that the fault is still present after repair w/o clearing the dtcs. We have a practice that is/was enforced by Chrysler~ download and print all the dtcs and freeze frame/other relevant data before starting diagnostics and repairs. The reason is that many diagnostics procedure include clearing dtcs. Also, if we have to escalate to the STAR center (a tech helpline), they will require that data be attached to the case. I've made it standard operating procedure to download and print the data. EDIT; With Chryslers, there are some updates that are required to be done before other updates. Some updates are part of another update, while some updates have the needed programming to work with other updates. Usually, as a rule of thumb, i don't do updates unless an update requires others to be done. We get paid for them, and if one is not required, we don't get paid for it.
Thanks for the video Scanner Danner and son, God bless you both🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
someones having too much fun in editing :))
he sure is :-)
Hi guys,
I have watched first 3 episodes, it's getting interesting... Tnx.
Good work scanner danner and Caleb ,I always learn a lot of great knowledge from you guys, coming from one of your students from Trinidad in the Caribbean.God bless you and your family man, take care.
Thank you Danners Inc. Good job. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family.
SUBSTANTIAL Sir ScannerDanner
Thanks 👍

Hello. I own a 2014 Lincoln MKZ with the parasitic battery drain and total trunk opening failure. Do you know anyone in Southern California around San Bernardino County that could help me? My wife and I absolutely love this car but we're at our witts end!! Thank you so much!!
Fords programming can definitely be frustrating at times. I like GM as their system is browser based without the need to download separate software and updates. I rarely ever have an issue with GM programming outside of a couple of known problem vehicles like the trailblazer/envoy. Plus, with ford especially the older ones you have to constantly switch on and off the ignition. That is extra annoying.
Great video !! , I thought autel could program that module , what a disappointment , just bought 608 , let’s see if Autel see this video and fix that issue , Thanks Danner to always teach new stuff !!
I love you so much guys ❤❤
I didn't learn anything,as I do programming every day at the Chevy store I work at,but it sure was fun to watch you!haha
Keep watching friend. I’m sure you’ll learn something about programming other manufacturers or even a Chevy. I worked at Toyota and yes after a few of them it became very simple and boring but even working for one single manufacturer there are the ones that pop up that don’t program the way they’re supposed to, and then you get to write a damn report to the engineers at the manufacturer to help them figure out what they did wrong! 😂
Nicely done... Video, camera angles, sound, and edits all terrific. And the programming and diag. wasn't bad either. ;-)
So much work in the camera and edits. I'll tell Caleb what you said! Thank you
i think the word optional in the DTC at the bigining means what the mother company wont care about for custommers as programming issues tell they pay for. I just wnted to montion that you all ar awsomme. and i wish you happy lifes. we are really learning from you a lot. as said the messenger is about being family. what you r doing is sacrifis for people. god love U ...
Hello dinner
Can you please make a video about which Pico scopes should I buy for my need
I am a forklift mechanic and I work on my own cars
Thank you
Without doubt you are excellent
Lincoln looks a nice looking car and possible nice to drive.
Thanks team Danner its really cool 👌🔧💗
And a final parasitic current draw test?
Smh, reuploading now for that forgotten footage. I'm blaming Caleb ;-)
so the moral of the story is that programing can be fun when you can just click buttons?
Quick question how do you get the activation code screen to pop up or where can you manually put it in ?
Good morning Paul, well, I sat and watched all four of these videos in their entirety! I have nothing bad to say lol. My only input is I do have the IDS and the GM scanner. I have noticed Ford has ALOT of updates, particularly with the PCM. As you probably do, or do not know, I own a rather large towing company here in the state of California. I have a fleet of 15 + 2018 and up F650’s 6.7 diesel’s. Not to mention other kinds of trucks. The reason why I bring this up is because in the last five years I’ve had to do multiple updates on just these trucks alone. There are also a lot of DPF system program updates. There’s a surprise lol. But I have found they are a MUST program otherwise you will have major problems not to mention very expensive problems like a $10,000.00 and up DPF filter. With that being said, I have NOT replaced one single DPF filter on ANY truck. I have only replaced one motor that failed in the entire fleet. Even then that motor had 250,000 miles on her.
I will give you an example why keeping up on the programming is so important not to mention maintenance. Most of the 6.7’s in just regular superduty’s have an average lifespan about 200,000 miles if your lucky. Although I’m starting to replace these Fords. The average truck has 350,000 miles and still running like a clock. Keeping in mind, the multiple drivers, the abuse, and all the heavy loads these trucks do on a daily basis.
Yes, maintenance is the number one key on anything. I realize I don’t need to tell you, I’m simply stating this in the comments for others.
By the way, I also enjoyed our exchange the other day. After you and I finished up I went back and read some of the comments. It’s no wonder why you were upset. I know I mentioned there are a lot of trolls out there but DAM !! Some of those people were down right mean.
Sorry for the long winded comment. Again, I very much enjoy going back and watching all your videos. Your friend in California, Ron
What was our exchange? Are you the one I apologized to for my douchebag comment? lol
Great video series, thanks for all you do.
hi, I have the same problem with this car, but I use it in Ukraine, I have the same problem with the trunk, could you please download where I can download the program for this trunk module, I will be very grateful
This was a program I downloaded directly from Fords website. You have to purchase it
Why did you not readjust the pull down latch closing motor where is was before someone adjusted down, maybe it's why the truck is closing hard, it should be smooth ?
I don’t remember much of this case study lol sorry
Like you said, unless you do a LOT of programming, it can be frustrating!
Mobile Techs are the ones that know this stuff inside and out, top to bottom!
You did great! Where I worked before retirement, we had IDS.
For me it is a great tool! I still had some problems with programming, but managed to make things work so I wouldn't end up with an expensive door stop!
Had to use my jumper box with its charger plugged in as a "maintainer."
Now there's many types of programming maintainers out there.
Keep bringing us the videos!
Thanks guys for the nice series. I’m just shaking my head at what we have done to cars for comfort. All this technology to open and close a trunk lid. I have a 92 and 95 Mercedes that have the soft close feature for the doors and deck lid, but they used a vacuum/ air compressor set up to do it.
Paul, what you give back to the industry is fantastic. AESwave is such an excellent group to purchase from. Carlos and his staff are amazing. Well 4 well put together videos Caleb. All stay well and safe. We are struggling here on Suffolk County LINY. Believe we have over 30K cases. Some family members on ventilators. NEW YORK will never be the same. Prayers 🙏🙏🙏❤️
I find vw and audi to be interesting to program from doing a pcm on one, just remember to grab the SKC before you start. It can be done with a cheap KKL FT232RL cable and Galletto software in boot mode, you ground a pin in the ecu with key on then connect the battery. There is also nefmoto software that can be use but cant read a bin off a me7.5, would write one if all you where doing. Yes there is probably costly tools that could do it without being in boot mode but this was a personal car to play with. Going this route the bin will need to be edited to remove "Control Module Programming Not Finished P1681" on this ecu.
Nice video, keep up the good work
what is the interface and computer you have to have to program with factory calibrations?
any computer, but you want to have it partitioned. For my PC, I have a GM/Ford/Chrysler partition for the hard drive and then when programming Ford's for example, I only have access to the programs I need to run the Ford software. I think you can get away with not partitioning the laptop but I'm not the expert here on that. The software that the Cardaq-m uses, came with the tool, and the software that Ford uses is just a windows program. Again, consult others on this too. Don't take my word as gold, not on this subject. I'm still learning too.
Do you know it's only uploaded in 1080?,not 4K.Love this video set by the way.
Yes, that is intentional. We are producing in 1080 which allows us to zoom on the frames with no loss of quality.
Right at the beginning: "If you don't do this all the time it can be very frustrating". SPOT ON!! It seems everytime I do one, I have to update the software. I usually get an hour labor to flash a module. IF everything goes as planned, I make money. If I have to update software, not so much. Love your videos! Keep them coming!!
Thank you ScannerDanner for this I really learn from your premium channel.
I just want to say it chaiming with the fab remote to give warning any body near the trank to take care (may be you close it far away from the car). However, if you close it with bottom you don't need warning because you the one closeing
Great video Guys . Paul you teach so well . I live in England and do diagnostic work . We have many trainers here but you make it so easy to understand. Making mistakes, learning and winning is the best buzz . Thank you for reaching out to us all on You Tube and giving us your experiences first hand it’s great . Keep it up 😀
Is that autel a good tool to get to start programming. I'm trying to get into that side of things but with money tight and options I don't want to get the wrong thing. I wanted a pico scope but with my verus pro I can hold off and buy a jbox of some sort. I work on all makes and models. If anyone has any feedback on what i should get please let me know. I have a verus pro and a autel ms906 but I want something for basic programming. I was looking at that autel you have.
Great video!! I am watching from Brazil, and we are learnig a lot with your videos! Wonderfull iniciative!!
Ain't nothing like this a Saturday afternoon learning stuff and thanks I will have a 2015 fiesta trans to program Monday thanks again keepem coming
Amazing gesture with the grant, both to you SD and AESwave, top draw stuff that 👏🏻
Thank you for all the time and effort you guys go through to make better techs happen. Also, helping my knowledge grow .👍
My trunk is giving me hell! I could Cry! This is refreshing! The battery drain a pain in the butt! Please tell me you’re in Atlanta GA?
sorry, Pittsburgh Pa, but I have friends just about everywhere and if they follow me, your chances are much better at getting a proper diagnosis. Hit me up on FB and I'll share it with my community and try to find a guy for you
@@ScannerDanner I found the problem!!! It wasn’t my trunk even though I did break it by closing with my hand! It was my drone mobile alarm system installed! Smh!
Such a great learning techniques you're doing man, very rarely am looking a wonderful guy like you.
Thanks for your good intentions.@scanner danner
Great gesture from your channel to help mechanics purchase tools; you are extremely kind Paul!!
always wear your seat belt , we don't want to lose another member of our youtube community like we did Diesel Tech Ron one of the best Ford diesel techs ever.
This program looks exactly like the Mazda program we used at our shop.
You are definitely not a parts changer. This was a great series. Thank you.
Great video series. Learned a lot!! Stay safe! Keep making videos!
I always thought programming looked aggravating. Thanks for clearing that up for me Paul! 🤣
Nice job on this one. Great set of videos. I find it amazing that after over 100 years of auto manufacturing that companies can’t even keep water from entering a compartment. Not only that, but they direct that water right onto an electronic module! Brilliant!
LOL! Poor Caleb at the end there about the edits. I laughed pretty good on that one! I know the pain, and I’ve only been doing this for a year. I don’t know what I hate more. Editing, or troubleshooting modern automobiles…🤣 You guys continue to do excellent work. THANK YOU!! May God continue to bless and protect you.
It really is just patience and reading my friend. Two things the camera doesn't provide me with very well. Truly, my bias to hating them is because of the camera.
No mane i assure you that the bar is not moving...Your drunk .
Good lesson learned Paul I like your teaching style.
Nice exercise danner, loving these types of case studies
well what an a interesting fix.Keep up the good work
You are best
I want the u activate tool but can't afford it that thing I'm told is sweet. Lol
great job, your sons editing was hilarious take care
Do you have any videos on 6 wire o2 sensors used by ford or the uego type?
You are the man. Thanks for all you do for young techs
God bless you! for helping people with buy the tools!!
Love to see more of these programming videos , do you know Mister Danner how you filmed this programming video in its entirety i learned and understood a whole lot more than what I have seen on many other programming videos on youtube . With other programming videos the person that is doing the programming my believe that the viewing audience seem to have more of an understanding of doing programming and also there videos don't show the whole programming session for instance when you go to training classes the instructor always shows the entire procedure . Can't thank you enough sir and hope that I may see many more of these great instructional programming videos WITH ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOURS ! : PS YOUR CAMERA GUY AKA THE SON WAS ALSO GREAT FOR SOME COMIC RELIEF .
I am all about giving it to you guys straight. Nothing to hide here and no reason to make myself look like a super tech like some of these other channels do.Thank you!
that program reminds of something leftover from windows 3.11(windows for workgroups) that was scabbed and patched to work on windows NT and it's still stuck in that era
Windows "Neanderthal Technology" lol
😂😂
I love your commentary awesome teacher very easy to learn from you thanks
Hehe I also have this issue. I’ve been following!
I like that guy fml he seems real down to earth type of guy
Your bro is a Viking!, nice video. thanks for it.
Awesome outstanding job have a great time thanks
You are probably better off doing this the way you did without using the Autel, you know from Ford with their software that it is the latest software with any updated fixes to it. I've often wondered how guys like yourself and guys that own independent shops just love or loathe working with all the different manufacturers and all the quirks that you have to go through with each one while reprogramming or computer module replacement.
for sure. I definitely needed to go to Ford for the latest software, regardless of whether or not I could get that as built data from Autel.
I've spent the past 5 years fixing computers and learning about software so programming modules interests me a lot,I just signed up to your premium channel and am ready to learn about other aspects of computer controlled systems, really enjoying it so far.
Thank you!
greetings brother from venezuela
Now that is one nice car there ! The mkz
Good Job Brotha, thanks for all you do!
thank you my friend and thanks for the extra $ you threw my way, you didn't need to do that.
@@ScannerDanner no problen bro, thanks for all your work, sma just sub'd to the channel i just started, if you have time lemme know what you think. Thanks for all the great diag!
FJDS isn't so great. It will not work, and even brick some PCMs. 03-04 Explorer for example. FJDS looks just like IDS, but it is not. IDS will do that same Explorer just fine.
When Ford says the calibration is not on the diagnostic tester, it's saying that the filename has not yet been saved to the IDS folder on your laptop, and that it needs to download it from Ford's server. Once you do that particular filename, it will be saved on your laptop, and the next car that needs that file will not require you to get it from their server. The Diagnostic Tester is basically your laptop.
sounds like I have another life line when Matthew isn't available? :-) Thanks Steve!!!!
@@ScannerDanner you know I'm always happy to help. Matt probably does more with it than I do. I primarily use IDS on the bench for Ford PCMs only. I do a lot of older ones.
Do that Matt do any youtube videos?
The editing is killing me. Keep it up.
Caleb , man you should really think of doing the editing Work offical for other Companys - You have BIG Talent !!! Great Video and good Info as always !!
I pay him to spend hours on the net to learn this stuff like a pro and he is proving to be exactly that! a real pro!
@@ScannerDanner I think you are not "paying" - you are making a very good Investment !
Great Job many thanks
SD is the man..
Great video
Good job 👍👍
Paul is DA MAN
Legend.
in the remote there is a mechanical key that should work in the trunk lock.
Also if if you have to cll into the trunk tie a string onto the emergency release so you don't have to crawn again.
I've already tied a string, well para cord to my trunk release. Its a Malibu though. I already have been bitten by the electronic latch release not working and there is no keyway to even attempt to use the key with.
On the plus side, after having to unload the trunk from the back seat to get to the manual release, i learned where a bunch of tools i couldn't find were hiding and to not let the trunk clutter up with so much crap because out of sight out of mind. And I get better fuel economy now.
YES SIR, I have learned things but also, LMFAO AT YOUR SON'S EDITING & OTHER THINGS. GREAT VID. AS ALWAYS TOUCHED MY HEART ABOUT YOU GIVING BACK TO PEOPLE, VERY VERY F'N COOL SIR DANNER & SON. ALSO THANK YOU AES WAVE FOR MATCHING SIR DANNERS PAY IT FORWARD PROGRAM. YES IT FEELS GREAT TO GIVE WHEN YOU CAN FOR SURE. Henry from NE PA.
