"Long-time listener, first-time commenter here." I've observed several of your reviews previously but today I subscribed! Your excitement over the cable is the reason. Please don't squelch your excitement - it helps you stand out in a sea of sameness in the review world. But most importantly, I (and I'm sure other viewers) can relate to the excitement, and I find it refreshing! It can be lonely here at home if you don't have other audiophiles near you, so you keep getting excited - it's greatly appreciated! Oh, by the way, it was a good review, too. I'm buying it!
I have a couple of HK Onyx Studio 6. Love em. 😍 Wish the battery life was better but they sure do sound good. At least they can still be used plugged in. 🙂 What model # do you have?
@@_-Z- you're way more current I have one of the ogs #2 and even thought it lacks too many extras, it still kicks ass for sound. Has a broken leg which is annoying. Need to find a replacement since I can't figure out how to DIY it. Lol. Its usually plugged in. Sometimes the battery seems to last ahwile, other times not so much.
@@someoneusa The sad thing is that they really haven't attempted to upgrade the battery much over the years. It's essentially a mobile speaker in name so they can use the tagline for marketing but obviously meant to be a home speaker. I'm pretty sure they do it that way to try to minimize eating into their JBL speaker line sales, though. The driver configuration has changed over the years and it's gone from stereo to mono but they seem to make most of the changes to the external design and appearance. I hope you can get yours fixed at some point. If you ever feel like "upgrading" or just want another they usually run major sales on their HK website around Thanksgiving up until Christmas. I bought both of mine around that time for around $150 each.
@@_-Z- thanks for the info on sales. I've seen previous years models on their site as low as $80 which is nuts! I use as a home speaker, I think the wireless is likely mostly a marketing ploy.
Volare is my current top IEM. Found this is best pair with N3 Ultra modern tube timbre. Gain MdB, PCM: short delay sharp roll off. Source: Tidal on DX180 via USB Dac to N3Ultra Bal 4.4. Getting similar quality when pairing with RU-7. Cheers
Your review sounds like my Variations Experience its very airy soft light does not have that much note weight it feels realistic its not how many iem sound typical. Newer BAs are pretty airy they are getting better. Since supermix 4 i prefer mid Bass warm and enganging are the penon and sound rhyme iems in this better ? Than this Variations clone? It seems Like WE have similiar taste and Hearing
Love you, too Monk. This one was on my list but your descriptions of the bass makes me seriously reconsider as I listen to a lot of Bass-heavy types of music. Bummer. You mentioned it wasn't really ideal even for Jazz. What would you say it's specialty is? Orchestral/Classical maybe? Thanks!
Not enough dynamics for Orchestra Cello, bass and drums won't come through. I would say this set would be perfect for strings and female vocals lovers.
I will watcher later iam interested you did say you dont Like the Variations sub Bass Style and they say its a Update but similiar with the Variations.
It has the same exact tuning as Variations. Same thing with Mega5EST. They all start from Harman. Variations is the less warm of the three but the differences on the rest of the spectrum are not that much. I would love an endgame tribird that does it well like the Grand Maestro at this point, I personally discovered over time that for me the essence of hi-fi is a balanced but warm sound and apart from Dusk with DSP, DaVinci and some DD IEMs very few do it well on a budget at the moment…
I'd be interested in this but it's too close to my Variations and at this point I'd rather go Mega5est if I even consider it. I enjoy the Variations subbass too much to even consider this though
If you have the Variation you don't need this , probably complement each other with the different tunings but it's a question of what would you pick up more?
@@Daniel-lq5qq paying 600₴ for an iem i don't want it to be EQ qfor a multiple reasons . And yes, for the modern genres of music the Variations is boring!

Yosi bubbles... cool, added that album, letter was cool to
The Volare is now my favorite IEM. A major plus for me is that is very comfortable to wear for long hours.
It has a great shell and looks 😍 stunning!
Great review mate. ❤ Can't want for their next implementation that does it all.
I need a great ES implemented set that is all-round excellent. 🎉🎉
Love that intro song on loud volume! Sounds great also on my HK studio speaker which is a bass cannon.

IO Volare: Sorry, no bass left 😅
